  5. yep. i totally agree maritimer! the only two who have understood what it means to be a hab have been treated worse than a zombie on amc and then unceremoniously been traded to 'save the dressing room'. i fully support ure analogy there and thank u for never letting us forget. d'accord, je m'souviens.

add to that list kidG and now im afraid i just cursed him.

el capitaine doesnt have an ounce the courage/desire/fight that squid/pfk had.

1994-2017: still, the leagues most consistent underachievers.
    (please dont ban me)

  8. I forgot that Vodkov was getting married...perhaps that is why he hasnt signed yet...he was busy living his life.

    1. He's toast now. He just proved BBB to be the liar that he is with the narrative he had the media spread about PK being a problem.

    2. Do you remember how PFk and Vodkov joked with each other at the torch passing a couple years ago...they were real friends and PFk respected Vodkov - you can't pretend that shit. It is real. I bet Vodkov knows how full of shit bbb is - he can see right through him. He's a wannabe. Fucking lying scum. I despise him more with every passing day...good on PFk for going to his friends wedding.

    3. I do. But what I remember most, is that big, fat kiss Vodkov planted on PFK celebrating a goal.

    4. Oh yeah, I believe the torCH thing was Vodkov's idea, I remember PFK stated that a lot of people don't know how funny Vodkov really is.

  11. I have been traveling on a plan that no one could comprehend because it was stand up for many hours.
I give my lips to ice cream because the dessert reduced them to rasions in the sun. Despite the loss of CHE is see the club du montreal moving forward. If you are in a liferaft right now the only decison it to throw any Boston fans forward.

  12. journal de Montreal is reporting BBB offered Mark Streit a one-year at $1.5M.

    1. IIRC it was the blind loyalty to Cube and Breezer at the time that Gainey let the Swiss Miss walk for nothing. He could have had a lot of good years playing alongside Vodkov.

I wouldn't hate this at that price. But it would mean the definite end of Vodkov in MTL.
And it underlines the issue that you no longer have any young d-men you trust to step into the role, which is a YUGE concern.

Other than CHudon, they don't have any young players ready to step in. Sergachev was the only blue chip prospect in the system which is now eMpTy. What? I've been ready for the tank and rebuild for some time but Price keeps throwing a wrench into the works.

    3. I often referred to leafies as lemmings. The more I've read about not signing Vodkov by some Habs fans is that their reasoning is that BBB is saving cap to sign Tavares because he will want to go to a team with a chance of winning the Cup. Roles have reversed and I feel like I'm living in Bizzaro world.

Yes, BBB has turned the Canadiens into his own friends' old boys club to whom he'll pledge his eternal loyalty and as long as he has TFS under contract he saves his ass. Molson needs to wake up.

  13. Milos missed his chance as he shat the bed against Federer. Murray lost. Joker forced to quit. I watched a bit of the first set over lunch and Federer was the one blowing aces past Raonic. I don't think he has what it takes to get to that 'top 4' level. He'll probably eke out a major during his career but he'll never be 'the guy' if he can't round out his game.

And Genie peaked 3 years ago in Australia. This is probably sexist, but she should just use her looks to her advantage and get what she can out of them. She's more of a Kournikova than a Sharapova.

Now back to your regularly scheduled dog days of hockey talk.

I agree with juce's assessment of Bargain Bin and his band of merry men aka "the cronies".

I'm reminded of when occasional poster Arrogant Fuckface would stop by with this comment: "We know. You don't."

OK, carry on with your summer.

  15. I just had another random thought about the issues the Habs have. They don't appear to be interested in sheltering young kids they bring to Montreal. There are plenty of stories of kids living with either older players, GM's or even owners in Sid's case, until they've matured and learned how to be a grown up. Sid is the classic case living with Mario. Ray Shero, who was part of that organization at the time I believe, on draft day mentioned how Niko Hischier would live with him "and have regular chores like taking out the garbage". I haven't once heard in the past 20 years how an older player or anybody from the coaching/GM ranks have taken a player under their wing and offered them shelter and basically 'a home' in their new city. So you take an 18 year old kid like gCHuk (who occasionally had is mom/sister visiting) to live on his own and basically hand him the keys to Montreal and you don't expect him to party his ass off? Kids at that age still need structure and balance. Some mature earlier than others (Sid knew how things worked by the time he was 16).

I guess it's no longer an issue because there is absolutely nobody at that vulnerable age that will get a sniff anyway. But there are loads of players that seem to have been treated the same way over the years and I just wonder if guys like Latendresse and gCHuk would have had better starts to their careers with that structure.

Or maybe we just don't get the whole story and they are babysat, but just suck. I dunno.

Anyway, that's my rant o' the day.

    1. I agree on most of this Saint Pad, however I think the Habs do, to a point, look after the younger guys...Pretty sure KidA lodged with someone senior when he came up. PFK had family come with him from tranna I think. The world is certainly changing and the kids are earning stupid money so when temptation rears its head, its no wonder they sometimes go a bit nuts.

Remember all the secrecy that surrounded the Habs before BBB started his reign...I thought that was gone until a couple of years ago. First Kassian crashes his truck and lets a chick take the blame, then Tin Tin gets caught doping and gets traded for BJS, TFS has the 3-6 week injury that lasts a year and PFK hits his head and ends up missing the rest of the season...Those events all proved to me how horrible a human being BBB really is. He lies to your face and smiles like he has done nothing wrong. He has no concept about what it takes to be a real leader for the Montreal Canadiens. He has taken the faith of a lifetime and pissed on it from the press box. He was a journeyman d man who had no sense of what being a Hab was all about. He never won shit and was happy winning the occasional division title or something meaningless like that. That is all he brings to the organisation now. Sure his record overall is decent...but being decent is never what being a Montreal Canadien is about. If you want to be decent go manage Las Vegas. I am afraid that we are all doomed to live out his tenure as pretenders. I hate this negativity and I promised I wouldn't do this again...alas, like BBB I lied...he thinks its tough being a GM - he should try be a Hab Fan!!

    2. the Maritimer4:06 PM

Josh Gorges let Gallagher live with him for a couple of years. gChuk's parents were around and we never heard nothing about him until he got a stripper girlfriend. Hopefully, he's grown up a bit. I think N8 was a bit entitled, his Dad was coach and GM for the Sea Dogs, there were a few stories about him. I think he just wore out his welcome in Montreal. Not trying to defend Bergy, his ideas are outdated when it comes to how to play D. Mark Streit is not going to help one whit. However, with 9mil in cap space, something is up.
