So, is Bargain Bin going to crawl out of the dumpster today and find us another new toy? I won't be sitting around waiting to find out. Draisaitl or Johansson would make my day.

Heh heh and meh. Bargain Bin just can't help himself. The team can't score goals and he signs even more guys that can't score goals. His brain is obviously wired backwards.

Also, I just read that Alzner stated that Montreal is on a lot of players lists to come to and yet B.B. said in the past that players do not want to come there. So, which is it?

Might as well move along, nothing to see here but more mediocrity.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Vegas retained just under $1.2 million of Emelin's salary in the trade with Nashville

    ReplyDelete
  37. (Y) nixed a deal and wouldn't waive to go to Dallas so I guess the Predators weren't on his M-MTC list or he agreed to go there.

A lot being made about Che's instagram where at the end he says 'I'm going home'. It's the off-season, why wouldn't he? Maybe he's invited to Vodkov's wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Expect Vodkov to sign with the Preds. They would then have our big three.
If TFS wants more than a $9 mill cap hit I would say by by. Its crazy MCJesus nearly $14 million, Ryan Johannson nearly $9. Disrali $10. I say let the other teams load up on overpriced talent and then make a team with the leftovers.

Les Predateurs don't need General Vodkov, they are already loaded on the back-end and just added a TU-14 tank. Look for Vodkov to sign a 2 year deal with the leaf... just to piss on MB. And I mean ON not OFF.

Meanwhile, Chiapet out in Edmonton is daring anyone to offer sheet King Leon. I would do it just to fuck up his salary cap for years. $13 mil for McSaviour and $10 mil for Leon would catch up with you sooner or later.

  46. According to cap friendly, highest cap hits for 2018-19 is tied between three players at $10.5M:

    Carey Price
    Patrick Kane
    Jonathan Toews

According to LeBrun, '$70 million worth of signing bonuses in TFS's $84 million contract'

That's good for TFS because it protects against lockouts where he gets paid the signing bonuses whether there is one or not AND it makes him basically buy-out proof (kind of like Clark$on). Usually not a wise move for a franchise but BBB is desperate and can't afford to lose him. TFS and his agent got him a real good contract.

    Allan Walsh replies:

European players can do RCA (Retirement Compensation Agreement), defer large portion of salary and pay 25% flat tax when they depart Canada.

    Basu:

Alex Radulov says Habs offered same deal as Stars only after he agreed with Stars. At that point it was too late because he already agreed.

"The money was basically at the same level. For me it was more the term because I really wanted 5 years at least on my deal" - Radulov

I think I know who I believe came crawling back to the table.

Sign and trade I'll bet. mb and cj don't trust him, maybe even don't like him a la Tyler Seguin. The winds of change are blowing through Montreal. I fear they will be lottery team next year. Too many other teams have improved and have more in the system to help than does Mtl. Of course, injuries can change all that, just ask Tampa.

  101. Also, too, I have been mostly away and using beta iOS 11 and had a few comments bloggered to Dog knows where.

  103. gCHuck thank God for now. Sheerback is his little lazy brother. Otherwise lets hope we do not make the playoffs and get another draft pick we can trade for a real player.

  104. Once gCHyuk filed for arbitration BBB blinked, PFK showed him you'd better not even try. If I were gCHyuk, I'd walk after the 3 years the way he was crapped on by the organisation to the public and seeing Drouin get a long-term, public signing even before lacing his skates. The double-standards are shamelessly displayed.

  105. Not saying I don't like Drouin either but he didn't exactly act 'princely' in Tampa.

  106. You know, as the supposed finest hockey club in the world, I'm growing tired of the brass throwing young guys like gCHuk under the bus by saying things like he's not defensively responsible enough to be trusted as a centre iceman. Here's a fucking idea. You have about 37 coaches in the ranks from head coach to skate lace tying coach. How about you fucking teach the kids to play better hockey! In his case, gCHuk obviously has the talent oozing from every pore and it just needs to be properly channeled. You stuck him on the wing for three years because 'he was too young' to play centre, then you give him a dozen games here, a few games there and hey he's not playing this position properly he can't be trusted! Stupid Russian! Quick throw any random player, preferably of Quebec descent in his place! Phew, that's much better. The lack of respect shown to some of these guys is utterly mind blowing and I just don't understand. Is it an ego trip? Is it racism? Is it just plain stupidity?

I sure hope they give him another shot at centre, between Max and kidG. He deserves it. But I feel his days may be numbered in Montreal. It may or may not be this year, but I also agree this is likely his last contract with the CH.

    1. They need to (re)hire Carbo to teaCH face-offs and the centre position.

    2. Well said! Honestly, I think they're going to try to trade him which is too bad. Heard a Scotty Bowman quote today: 'you can teach defence but you can't teach a player to score'

      +1.

There is a lot of tarnish gathering on the Montreal Canadiens image. Is it all Bergevin's fault? I don't know. I do know that the last two players who truly understood what it meant to be a Montreal Canadien were treated pretty shabbily --- Cammallari and Subban. I find it's getting harder and harder to find any positives to talk about.

I crossed paths on the golf course yesterday with some buddies who cheer for different teams. One of them asked me: "What's going on with your Habs? I couldn't believe they let Radulov walk."
My reply: "I think they are trying to be a lottery team. Bergevin's an idiot."

    4. Carbo? The Habs play the media like a fiddle, if Carbo gives the media the salute again that would probably end.

  107. ...trying to remain positive...signing Galchenyuk is a relief... for now - as others wiser thank have stated - going balls out and threatening arbitration or actually going to arbitration is usually the kiss of death. With a corrupt and dishonest GM running the show, I wouldnt be buying any 27 jerseys this year (with a name on it at least - unless you get a true legend at 27 - Mahovlich) . So no sign of a centreman or of Markov...it is going to be an interesting summer my fhfriends...

  108. they finaly get around to doing an aborted presser with gCHuck. WTF it seems like kindergarten some days. No matter what the club should have done a proper press conference for gCHuck.
