Talk about Armageddon, Atlantic Canada cut off from cell phone service, bank debit transactions, even airlines shut down. Fuck, the Man owns us now. But, this old-timer still carries cash and a cell phone is just a convenience not a necessity. I can still hunt and fish and forage for berries if I have to...

Nice SF btw. OK, carry on folks nuthin' to see here.

  3. Damp, muggy day so I'm watching some golf. Our Canadian boy though never challenged has remained in the top 8 range for the past 2 days and not a moment of airtime. They will show his playing partners then rapidly move off him if the camera should catch a glimpse of had win. Very odd - haven't seen active non showing of a player like that. Get to see the odd shot of the likes of Speith, 10 shots back though.

Hockey? I like Wilde but can't bring myself to spend even $30 to read about BBB'S team. In the end he does opinion pieces which we have plenty of on this fine blog.

Football only a month away though.

    1. Mostly negative IMO, Wilde leans more positive which I find refreshing.

It was OK, I guess. The last 10 or 15 minutes saved it, otherwise, meh.

Over at the toronto sports network the headline is "Chris Cry-der, master of redirecting pucks". They forgot to add "and injuring goalies". Stupid fucks.

A quote from Theo Fleury and I have to agree with the coaching part, I've said for years that "systems" and coaching have been the ruination of hockey.

“The game is wayyy, wayyy too over-coached,” Fleury said to Sharp magazine’s Dave McCarthy on Wednesday. “It’s almost like coaches are playing Xbox with these guys. IPads on every bench now. It really takes individuality out of the game.”

The league still has a few characters who call back to that bygone era, according to Fleury, but they’re certainly tougher to find.

“That’s why I love guys like P.K. Subban, who have their own personality and beat to their own drum,” Fleury said. “There’s definitely a lack of that now. If you look at my era, you had all these characters who played, like Jeremy Roenick and Marty McSorley. They were different guys and said what was on their mind and wore their hearts on their sleeves.

“There were a lot of colourful people in the game. Now, when you listen to interviews with so many young guys, it’s all clichés.”

  11. RIP Bryan Murray. He was a great team builder and seemed like a genuinely good human being.

The Sea Dogs opened rookie camp today, hockey is not too far off.

I guess the big question is what is Bergy going to do with all that cap space? Hire 29?

  17. Oilers ink Disrelli eight years 8.5. Game of Thrones ep 5 on the interwebs, its great, HBO needs a good lawyer with cybersecurity cred. Clown T gets what he wants, Black leaders call for statues of slave presidents to be torn down, but why does he want it?

    2. Yes its a real Game of Thrones, one of the nephews has been killed and another in prison
awaiting the next negotiations. What is interesting from the real view of the world is that the first ransom was widely publicized. This one crickets. The reasons for this are of course just the anomalies of a free press.
