Welcome back moeman! Been a long hot summer. Moving day for the Maritimers. Downsizing and purging has been quite an experience. Gonna be good in the end.

Good luck to friend moe with his work situation. Good luck to JD and gCHuk, hope they can find and carry that torch.

  4. Woot! SF is back. Sorry to hear about the news moe. Hopefully I can help you drown your sorrows at BDT when I'm in town :). Turns out I'm staying at the Crown Plaza (sounds fancy) just down the road, so i'll be walking! Maybe i'll get to try all of their flavours.

Training Camp! It's starting to get real. Wilde is still thinking MB might pull the trigger on a Duchene deal. Wonder if Sakic has lowered the price for a guy scoring at a 0.67 ppg pace over the past 3 years (that would be a 54 point season over 82 games). If not, no thanks.

    2. Thanks the M. Not much of a summer for me, feuds left and right with the new owner where I live. They converted from oil to electric heating and lo and behold the heating magically ended up on my meter but my heating is included. In May before they converted, they told me I would have to pay my own heat and I said no, it's your responsibility. Once the work was done, I spoke to the electrician, realized what they did. Hydro Qc says if it's on my bill, I'm responsible to pay but I know they aren't allowed to arbitrarily change the terms of the lease willy-nilly so that's still an issue. Plus, I was told verbally the owner was re-possessing my flat. Mind games, they thought I would be a push-over. Previous owner lived below me - they haven't left yet and were supposed to be gone already so the new owner could take that place but rather have me out since I've been here 24 years and my place would fetch a higher rent than I pay now. In addition, I was left to stare at 5 rooms of gyprock and plaster as a new decor. I know I don't need that much space for myself, but I moved in here with my kids when they were little and once they were gone, after a while I though about getting something smaller but the rents seemed to have just gone through the roof, so I stayed. I've been stressed to my limits. Thank the Hockey Gods I'll have something else to take my mind off of things a little and that was the summer of juce. On the bright side, I'll be a grandmother for the first time, the stork should be arriving end of October. My son is as proud as a peacock.

I actually thought they would just cancel this season altogether since the leaf are winning the Cup, or so I've heard.

A lot of good MB's money will do sitting on a shelf and I see AF will do some scouting, says TFS hit a wall and maybe he's sorry about throwing PK under the bus but still takes credit for him winning the Norris.

Sorry to hear about your travails, I hope things work out for you. Congrats on becoming a grandmother!

  11. My Kodi android box went screwy, something to do with TVaddons.ag going down to the man. So installed http://ares-repo.eu/ and all is well for now. Apparently Mygica box will not accept lollypop and Kodi 17.1 needs it. So I may be into a new box if as threatened Kodi goes all html in a way you need lollypop. Funny my Kodi 14.1 windows just keeps chugging without error.

Hockey wise from the scrimmage it looks like CH is a lock, JJCH is a lock, gCHuck is happy, and we can plan the parade.

  15. So...in my newfound determination to remain upbeat I have been reading as much as I can about what is going on in training camp and from what I read, it all sounds pretty positive. (I have forgotten a lot of the nicknames in the off season so excuse my use of actual names in some cases) This kid Mete sounds pretty good, even though he will probably start in Laval. The Habs appear to have a lot of D men kicking around as they try to replace Vodkov. Also, it does look like Hudon will make the show out of camp (after 2 days and 1 scrimmage anyway). Benn looked solid, Pleks scored a goal (so that must be a good thing). Brian Wilde is concerned about Andrew Shaw's last concussion, which is something we, as Habs fans should worry about as well, given the style he plays. Drouin looks like the real deal and I think that he will defo give us something to smile about this season. Same goes for Letkonen - I see him getting 25 goals this season btw - and everyone has been pretty positive about the way Julien runs training camp. Big McCarron has grown and shrunk at the same time (lighter but taller) and apparently - faster! One player who didn't impress apparently was Mark Streit but Joe Morrow did and he is someone I am very interested in following. Also, Charlie Lindgren is, apparently, the best shootout goalie the Habs have had in 100 years! So it's all looking positive. Which is a good thing...'cause it's a long season! Go You Fucking Habs Go!

    1. I am going to agree with you The M - I watched some of the game last night and from what I saw, Mete is ready to go. I liked his work rate. Streit - not so much! Slow, lazy - not very impressive at all. Hudon is a lock I would have thought - and he looked pretty good. TFS didn't have much chance on the second goal - I think Martinson or Davidson tipped it in - but if you were to put either of them on waivers with a view to sending the to Laval, I'm pretty sure no one would waste their time claiming them. The only "oldie" I'd like to see make it is Morrow - I think he can be an effective player for the Habs.

      Delete
    2. the Maritimer11:39 AM

Thanks K3X, I'd rather watch the kids play than all these mediocre plugs. By all accounts Streit is really slow, slower than Markov and the NHL is all about speed. I think the young forwards will do fine, might as well have a few speedsters on D, this Mete kid might do OK with the right coaching. He's probably going back to London with Dale Hunter which will be better than Laval. I hope he gets 5 or 6 games with Julien.

      Delete
    3. Ah yes...forgot he is only 19 - so back to Jr. It will be interesting to see him again tonight. Not really sure what the attraction with Streit is - PP specialist? And that's another thing. last night was really a hard watch - all these penalty calls - mostly cheap little nothing taps or hooks really fuck up the flow of the game. I will be glad when they get back to proper reffing and let the boys play.

  40. ?What sticks in my head is when Magnus Nygren went back home after his brief AHL stint and gave a Swedish-language interview just tearing the organization apart — bad coaching, bad attitudes among the players, and so on. Then last year Max Friberg left and, on the way out, talked about the failure of the coaches there to develop players, which is why he decided to leave.

Friberg was the team’s captain. Nygren had 18 points in 31 games and was one of the Swedish league’s top defensemen. These are good hockey players and, by all indications, pretty solid human beings. Something seems to be rotten in our AHL club."

There is, and has been, something rotten in the state of Denmark (Habs organization) for a long time, even before Bergevin and Fuckface. A player like Galchenyuk should be thriving by now and PK should never have been traded. The young players in the system are either stalled out or falling in status. Beaulieu for a 3rd round pick is a fucking disgrace. I don't know if it's Molson or something else but there is something wrong with the whole organization.
