On the road to .500 - Habs v Wings Game 27

Team notes:
- Druid has an LBI (or forgot his passport, you decide)
- Playing in Detroit. Auto called up.  Very logical move.
- Bergevin is high on Crack
- Somebody will play in goal. Probably not TFS?

  1. True story I forgot my passport once and ended up in a holding cell in the Bangkok Airport. I tried to bribe my way our but ended up for a weekend living like Tom Hanks in a similar situation. I did not meet any girls, but I made the people at KFC very happy.

Also true the Thai called the Canadian Embassy and asked should we let him into the country, and they said lock him up.

  3. Lets put the Matt Lauer where in the world am I as all time jerks. Rome was the center of the world for everything including debauchery for thousands of years. Maybe they liked good looking girls there. I can testify that when you hit the Italian Swiss border the mountains are not the most beautiful things in your eyes.

In China a similar situation. However due to some kind of karma they found little feet hot. So you do not see the same concentration of beauty in Beijing unless your into little feat. Then you would be willing.

  4. Niemi should start tonight. He played great in his other start and deserves a chance. So glad to see Auto called up, but sad that the Druid's absence is the reason for it. I watched most of the game last night, and although the Ottawa-friendly douchebags calling it were dumping on LB for missing the empty net, it was clear his hurried shot bounced funny off a bit of late-game bad ice to redirect it inches away from the net. Bobby Ryan still looking for his first goal of the season... And we Habs fans think WE got troubles?! GYFHG

  5. Another Detroit story. I was playing for a team of insurance agents. Yeah I used to sell life insurance before I realized I would rather die than make one more sale. We were on our way to a hockey tournament and just over the ambassadress bridge we took a wrong turn in our big Insurance Wagon. Ed notes, everyone who sells something drives a land yacht because gas and insurance costs them nothing. We drive a few blocks and at every stop sign a crowd not only gathers, it follows us. Three blocks later we are in a mob of people pointing at us, in a way that everyone would
say was unfreindly. I stop the Ford LTD wagon with storage under the back panel. Thats why I drove because everyone wanted to smuggle back booze and ciggerates after the tournament.

We all step out of the car and open up the dual action gate. Sidways in this ocurrance. We grab our aluminum sticks and try to present a presence.

I say my fellow Rastafarians we are lost but its good to see we are with JAH people.
The crowd speads and we are lead to our hotel.

  9. If your fast one on one, its nothing.Being fast when someone is coming at 40KPH to kill you or at least make you irrelevant, thats hockey.

Lets use skiing as a example. I ski about 40 KPH and thats fast. On a black diamond I fall down alot and will normally not go back. So when 12 year olds with cleavers in a city where cars
never exceed my ski speed, I am thankfully like the flash. I do not care how many Bruce Lee movies you have seen, when it comes to mortal combat the speed of the action is the final judgment upon whats going to happen. I doubt the cleave crew wanted to kill me that would be bad for the tourist action. I did not fight I fleed, thank god for the primoral action. But I left a few bruised 11 year old ribs in my wake.

@Steve, glad you enjoyed Crisis on Earth X. I haven't watched it yet so no spoilers OK? I needed to point out a small error from the previous thread, this event is in the DC Comics Cinematic Universe not the Marvel Universe, where Spider-Man and the Avengers reside. DC is owned by Time Warner, one of the biggest corporations in the USA if not the world. Marvel is owned by Disney who happen to be... well, you know, maybe even bigger. Essentially, Spider-Man works for Mickey Mouse.

FYI, back in the 90's Marvel Comics were on the verge of bankruptcy and to survive, sold the movie rights of their characters to various companies. Sony got Spider-Man, Fox got the X-Men and Fantastic Four and some of the less familiar characters like Daredevil ended up with smaller companies. In the mid-2000's Marvel created Marvel Studios, did the first Iron Man movie and went on to earn billions which caught Disney's attention and they bought them up. Since then they went into partnership with Sony so they could do the Spider-Man movies and are currently in negotiations with Fox to buy them up so they can get the X-Men and FF back. They are also involved with Netflix doing all those series with the street level heroes who operate in New York's Hell's Kitchen and Harlem.

For anyone interested in the history of the comic book heroes creators, AMC is running an excellent 6 part series called Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics. Part 4 ran last Monday night but I'm sure the previous episodes are available somewhere on the interweb. Some of the stories of the creators and how they got scammed out of their creations, particularly Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster (a Canadian) the creators of Superman, are scandalous.

Sorry to interrupt this hockey blog, I'm a bit bored today. OK, carry on with Habs stuff.

  18. It seems that Doughty and Karlsson are co-conspirators to land a big payday. Both say they want to stay with their respective teams but money is money. Doughty says they will be talking to and tracking EK's UFA negotiations, that he wouldn't mind going to the leaf and that they should make more than PFK.

    He lost me at leaf.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ok, they didn't say money, EK said 'business'. Come to think of it, Doughy clearly focused on money. Maybe he want to be a leaf because the SFU pushed for him to the Norris.

We all hate the broons, but it's a spe ial night in Boston as they light the Nova Scotia Christmas tree we send them each year (along with a crap tonne of z'important people' at the expense of the taxpayer). But I digress. Dec 6th marks the 100th anniversary of the Halifax explosiom when Boston answered the call and sent trains/boats full of people to help. So thank you Boston. One day I will visit, by all accounts it is a lovely city.

  29. SO if Druid is "day to day"...does that mean he will be back before Christmas? BBQ was listed as day to day for a week and still isn't back after 2...Fucking bullshit doctors on their team - more concerned about hiding a sore foot by calling it a LBI than actually fixing whatever is wrong. This is BBB's fault. It's on him! Anyway - TFS gets the start and Auto is in...so this might be an interesting matchup. GYFHG!

kypridiot is advocating the trading of Pacioretty. I say not now, it will accomplish nothing. I also say, if the Habs fail to qualify for the playoffs or go down easy in the 1st round like last year, Bergevin will start breaking up this gang for a retool of some kind and MP will be part of the purge. It's kind of started anyway with "the Trade" and letting Markov walk.

      Delete
  31. So the winner of this game will be 3rd in the Atlantic, one up on the broons. Mind you, as it always seems, at this point of the season the broons will have 4 games in hand on the Habs.

  42. Fell asleep but what an improvememnt after the first intermission. The team is looking confident and as SiM said like they are gelling as a team. Is it possible it has taken this long for CJ2.0 to get his stamp on the team? Or is it just 'the system' making the team look good?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Heh, not trying gCHuk at centre even when their #1 is out will be the hill they die on.

    Oh yeah, wings!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well well well what do we have here, looks like the Dead Things are going to punch our ticket to the playoffs.

Maybe JDR with gCHuck and Druid at the wings may work? The wingers want the puck and JDR tries to stay away from it.

The penalty kill is better, TFS
    The system is working TFS
    The coach is better TFS.
Show me a good team and I will show you a good coach.
