  3. Is the media trying to run TFS out of town? shithead Brunet went on a rant that TFS is disrespectful to the media. Says guys have to face the media as did others before. He went on that there was Roy, Beliveau etc... all gars de chez nous, that TFS is an Anglo who was accepted here and should show respect to the media. Then A/C also claimed he was disrespectful though I will give it to PJ Stuck who said the media is making a mountain out of a molehill.
Then on Morisette, same thing...he's disrespectful to the media. I don't know one of the guy's name but I know he's a former 'dique says he's disrespecting the fans, he didn't stick salute the fans after the game and his treatment of the media is also disrespecting the fans because the media represents the fans. Oh piss off. They certainly don't represent this fan. As for the salute, I didn't even notice and if some remember, when MT cancelled the triple-low-five and mandated the team stick salute the crowd I said it was boring. I only saw the soundbites from the scrum they showed but I didn't think he said anything wrong. Maybe they thought he should get down on his knees and beg forgiveness because they lost? TFS showed up to play, they should focus on someone else or better yet just STFU!

    1. Its disgusting. Question his goal tending, but leave everything else alone. Can you imagine with what we know now, if the Flower had had his petals plucked neurotically like TFS?

  4. Fine they might as well drive him out of town. He can't save this team anyway. I love TFS, but I don't think a team needs a $10.5m goalie to win a cup.

My interest is waning for sure. I'm fine with these late games coming up - means I don't need to force myself to watch them. And I haven't read/watched anything hockey related in the past 2 weeks. Until Quebec City gets a team (if Buttman ever leaves), I will stay away from all Montreal based media, much the way I stay away from the SFU for hockey news.

    1. I agree, St. Paddy. He can't save the team that BBB built and the money is a lot but that is all on BBB who has no other plan except TFS so he put all his eggs in one basket because he's desperate to save his job, without TFS there's nothing at all. I just hate the way TFS is getting shit on because the media doesn't like the answers to their questions.

    2. Oh I know. I have no doubt they're a bunch of spineless journalistic leeches, just trying to create friction in the organization on the backs of their (in some cases at least) separatist viewpoints.

The one thing I would really like to know is what the Francophone fans in Quebec REALLY think about the need to have Quebecois players/coaches/management. Seriously. Has there ever been a poll taken to ask whether they'd have a losing team with Francophone management or a Stanley Cup winner with Anglophone management. Simple as that. I know we can all say "they wouldn't care so long as the Habs win", but has that ever been actually proven? Just curious. My point being I think it is solely the Francophone media that stirs shit up and they speak for such a small portion of the population (I'd wager <10% ) that their views really mean nothing. But that's me guessing again.

Wow, you guys sure are stirring up the old hornet's nest this morning! Great!!

Regarding Mr. Price, I hope he asks for a trade out of Montreal and gives Brunet and his ilk the middle finger while leaving. If I was Carey I'd ask to go to Vancouver, they have some good up and coming players to build around, Boeser, Horvat and Virtanen plus, he and his wife would both be close to family. Win win for the Price family. He might never win a Cup there but I think he'd be a lot happier.

As for Montreal, as long as Geoff Molson bows to the will of the seperatists (francophone media) they deserve their fate. They are slowly disintegrating down to leaf territory.

Carey's never going to win in Montreal either, not with Bozo the GM and his shit team in front of him anyway.

    6. Talk of separatism. I lived through the FLQ crisis and till this day I did not understand it. Fortunately Canada is a thinking country and the Parti Quebec knows they have already won what was due and now they are like the IRA in Ireland. Just hit men striking easy targets with no responsibility for a civil society.

    7. I grew up as a throw a beer bottle at the tv kind of fan. If things got serious take a tommahawk to the tv. The great thing about the CRT tv is that they imploded, so you would have to be a fool to be cut. Furthermore, the picture degraded fast, so blowing up your tv once a year was preventing technological obsolesce.

I have grown up a bit since then. In my twenties I was truly tribal. I did not think through the consequences of anything. It took me a long time to fully wake up.
That day was the same day that Iggy lost to Harper. It was then I realized there is no tribe, we are all in the suck together.

  5. gooI d owner would put the Francophone question to rest for once and for all. They would say this is a team that is rouge, blanc, blau without question forever. Those colours do not run, they skate like hell on ice. It does not matter if the talent is like the cat. No one cares if a cat is black or white as long it catches mice. The Montreal Canadians will do everything to catch mice. If the best coach speaks Russian we will ask permission of Trump to hire them. Its 2017, we have AI Lusitania translation. Was Kirk ever stopped by language from scoring, no, green, purple, all the colors and languages of the rainbow where fair game for his discovery.

We are in the frappa crappa due to three key mistakes. One is anything to do with EMTY, two is not tanking another year after getting gCHuck, three is having Poloriad do our development. We do not know what the picture is going to look like until its way to late.

We have a good core of role players, and two superstars. TFS and BBQ. gCHuck and Druid are on the bubble, and after that we are lunch bucket, the question is Schwartz or MacDonald.

I still believe this team has a window, and it will let the cup fall into our laps with good
    luck and a cell phon
    e jammer.

  6. The majority of the Québecois media (I don't think a single one is a devoted Canadian-Francophone and Pierre Lebrun doesn't count as part of their ilk) think it is THEIR team and collectively they (help) push people in and out of the CH organization with they loudmouth tripe. Should a player or coach get on their shit list, he isn't around for the long haul. There are some truly destructive personalities on both RDS and tva. Some are outright despicable and those all come from the séparatiste clan. So there's lots to dislike and hate about these wads and some of their mediot colleagues;

    - they have an agenda of French first or French only and rarely French mostly
    - I can count on three fingers the honest ones, Houde, Carbonneau and Damphousse
    - the crazier fucks like the two tremblays, bergeron and most of tva are pure laine assholes
    - they do not speak for true Habs fans and I'd surmise they only speak for 30-40% of the Québecois fan base
    - recent examples of their hate leading to horrible CH reaction(s) were PFK and Cunneyworth, there are many others but the tribe mentality they have forced the CH's hand, regardless of what Molson said
    - I can understand their excitement about Québecois players but it bugs me that they have to always mention the Québecois factor during play, funny they forget to mention other player's Province of birth (same goes during the WJC)
    - they protect Québecois players to the detriment of the team
    - they protect slugs like JJD to the detriment of the team
    - they are subjective to a fault but then again most media are, I'd prefer honest objectivity
    - some are just plain fucking dumb but have seats at the media table due to CH ties or just being French
    - tva's NHL contract is directly tied to sportsnet and they toe the tranna line but I think SN could care less what they say or do, so long as they suck leaf
    - SN is a fucking cesspool of Habs hate and Scott Moore is complicit
    - I believe that TFS™ is definitely their next target
    - I expect DGMB to stand up for TFS™ (his last meal ticket) but then again he stood up for PFK, as did Molson, so ...
    - never forget that these fuckers went after Saku, hard. One of the nicest, most respectful and respected Habs of all time was treated like shit by the vultures
    - these fuckers are salaciously attacking TFS'™ wife/family, doesn't get lower than that

I have a bad feeling about TFS'™ state of mind. Athletically I think he is OK and remains one of the Top 3-5 goalies in the world. His demeanour says he isn't all there. He's been weirdly aloof and seemingly un-caring. I could be 100% wrong about the latter point. I think he's an honest person and is to be respected. I think he loves being a Hab but the current situation cannot be helping his mindset. I think he may be regretting the long term deal but I take into consideration where he was when he renewed his contract. I think a good chunk of the money in the deal (cash up front) is for what he has done for the CH in his decade in Montreal. I can envision him agreeing to being dealt. The return (as part of a rebuild) would be interesting. Outside of da dirty broons and the putrid leaf, I'll cheer for him. Should DGMB think of a desperation move, Molson needs to not only pull back the reins but un-saddle the CH from current management.

I'm probably forgetting half of what runs through my mind when I see our team floundering and failing. I believe we are the most passionate hockey fan base as we expect nothing less than a deep Cup run and a team to be proud of. My passion still burns but I think I have given this current team too much leeway in decision-making, on and off the ice.

  8. The departure of the Diques did three things;

    - removed the Habs biggest rival (outside of da broons)
    - netted Colorado the last great Hab
    - forced the CH into French-first mode

Now with fuckface bettman almost assuring no team in QC for the medium term, the CH remains bound by some weird fear of always looking for a Francophone fix. I have no issue with a Julien Brisebois or Patrick Roy or Bobby Smith when the re-tooling starts. Smith and Roy have great ties to Jr. hockey and know recruiters that could add value. Brisebois is much more experienced than DGMB. I'd also consider mag't positions for Larry Robinson and Scotty Bowman (if he wanted an overseer/guru position). Molson has the coin.

  9. About DGMB;

I think he is a decent man but came into a new position too green. We've all been in business or work environments where new, installed (some with a hint of nepotism) management is under-qualified. I recall Serge Savard suggesting Bergevin to Molson et al. Serge has been extremely quiet since that day (likely due to his professionalism). Rookie managers sometimes try to do too much and at the same time, if things are good, take too much credit. Rarely will one admit mistakes if things start to slide. Although DGMB has some folks internally he can turn to, I doubt he is the type of person to seek counsel. I also think he was afraid to hire the Big Bird. Too easy to let MT2's buddy JJD tag along. BTW, has anyone, say in the media, yes that media, ever asked JJD about the loss of PFK and Vodkov and (Y), etc., cuz he sure took credit when they lined up on our blue line.

    1. JJD's continued employment with the CH is a mystery to me. I will say this: it must be quite frustrating to build your team a certain way over the years and always be trying to play catch-up with whichever way the league's wind blows in regards to calling this sort of penalty and not that. E.g.: J&D plays D his way, which is effective if certain penalties are only called very strictly, and others rather less so. His style of play worked great for him and the CH last season, but his lack of speed hinders him the way the refs are calling the game this year.

    1. Or. Talk about stupid. These guys that try to play through injuries almost always, without a doubt, end up missing more time and being less effective until they fix the problem. One wonders if management is aware and being under pressure forces the player to hit the ice.

      Delete
    2. I concur. It seems the trainers or "atmosphere" of the club - which would naturally be a top-down sort of thing - is continually driving the players to play with injuries that aren't fatal, and trying to bring them back before they are fully healed.

Stars Christoper Meloni as a rough ex-cop who is befriended by a little girl's imaginary flying unicorn because she's been kidnapped and he wants him to help find her. Happy is voiced by Patton Oswalt. 2 episodes in and I've not laughed out loud that much at a TV show since I watched 'The League' (which I also highly recommend if you haven't seen it). Hey all! I've been out most of the day, I drove up to Fredericton today to retrieve our youngest son for the Christmas break. He wrote his last exam this morning and was glad to coming home to Mom and Dad's for a couple weeks. Then I went to the grocery store, put that all away, sat down for a bite and get caught up on the local news.

Did I mention I saw my surgeon yesterday morning, he gave me the green light to resume all my normal activities... within reason. I saw my x-rays... Yikes! I didn't realize I was getting all that hardware. I'll be setting off metal detectors at airports I'm sure.

I wanted to give moe a huge thumbs up for his excellent summary of what the Habs have to deal with regarding the francophone media. I agree 100% with his assessment of Carey Price and his mindset. Something's not right and hasn't been for some time. He may end up the Roberto Luongo who ultimately regretted signing that huge deal with Vancouver. He did manage to get moved back to Florida and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if something similar happens with Carey with salary being retained or whatever. He is bergevin's meal ticket and it will be interesting how it shakes out.

Like moe I have mixed feelings about my team these days and indeed havefor some time. I want to cheer for them, I want to see them succeed but my own eyes tell me there is nothing there to cheer for. You've had THREE coaches in a row who eschew the defensive game above all else. All of them prefer to play the muckers and grinders over their skilled players. The skilled players are punished relentlessly for mistakes that EVERY player makes occasionally. The only forward who seems to escape unscathed is the Captain. How many games has he lost his backcheck for a loss and someone else takes the blame? PK could probably tell us but wouldn't. He always takes the high road.

I'm at the point now where I just don't give a damn anymore. Maybe some time in the future Molson will get his shit together and let someone qualified take over but I'm not extremely hopeful. This is going to take a long, long time to fix.

One more thing, I don't give a fuck what some of these so-called analysts and "experts" say, no trade is going to help this team. It is fundamentally flawed in its composition. The only way this gets turned around through the draft. The old core has to be removed and they have to start fresh. Everybody over 25 should be available for the right price. But it needs to be done by new management. julien needs to go too, he's way to old school for a new beginning.

    2. I've been paying $6.99/loaf for gluten-free bread (and it ain't great) because everybody else in my family is celiac. That said, everybody in my family will be signing up for Loblaw's $25 guilt card.

    3. So, they give a gift to use in their own stores once they fix prices on other goods. I wonder if holding out for a class action nets more that you can use elsewhere?

    4. I can't see the class action happening now that they are offering cash.

I did receive my $20 cheque from the RAM class action suit. Took 4 years.

    5. RAM? was that the ice-storm settlement?

    6. There's also a class action involving price-fixing on memory foam.

  34. the Maritimer2:51 PM

All this titanium steel I am now carrying around in my body obviously affected my memory. I forgot about McPhee's monumental fuckup of trading Filip Forsberg for Martin Erat. WTF? Oh well, some other knucklehead traded a young, dynamic PMD to Nashville as well. Everybody makes mistakes. And Gerard Gallant isn't so hot either. He's been fired before, by Columbus and then unceremoniously dumped at the curb by Florida. Julien has him beat though, he's been fired by Montreal, New Jersey, Boston and probably Montreal again not too far in the future.

Hockey management makes mistakes the same as the players do but everybody is well paid.

    1. When I saw that yesterday I thought he could have been rocking a Habs jersey and promoting the CH but nooooo. Preds will now benefit from his marketing skills as well as his hockey skills. As a business man I don't know how the Geoff couldn't realise how PFK benefits the club's brand.

  42. Just as an aside the reason liberals and progressives loose so often is illustrated in the season finalie of year one. We shoot to miss. I gotta say that this may be a long term winner, but when you shoot to miss in a gunfight, likely your principles are going to be very dead, and no one cares
    about your sacrificial rights./
