  1. Fret not FHFriends as my review is nearing completion. Like most of you, I've felt let down by this season's Habs and found/find it difficult to make sense of it all. Anyways, I'm theme-ing it 'not so good fellas'. Should be up tomorrow as semester-ending conferences/seminars finish today. Peace.

Also, put out the Humboldt hockey stick two days ago (front porch pic above). Lots of neighbours have done so too. I think all sticks are wooden.

I look forward to it my FHFriend. Indeed, the whole situation of letting valuable people walk and signing absolute crap replacements with $8mil left on the table just made no fucking sense. The gm's assertion that the players didn't care does make sense, why should they? Price and probably Max as well knew they were screwed from the start.

My stick has been out and I put on my Habs jersey yesterday while Mrs. Maritimer put on her Saint John Flames game worn jersey. I was going to wear my beer league jersey from 27 years ago but I'm too fucking fat for it now! Or else it shrunk!

  2. Its hard not to jump on the Peg bandwagon. As its still the depths of winter there the bandwagon is moving slow. But the good news is the Cheveldayoff is in his 7th year as GM. That means next year Montreal will have a team like Winnipeg.

Oh Shakesphere could not write it better. The Leaf get swept and the Jackal is the goat. Right now Laine is winning the draft year over Shaggy.

The narcissism and selfishness in this interview is painful to read. Cole has had this job for decades. Stop being so selfish! Let someone else take a turn.

What makes Cole’s narcissism even more annoying is that he was never good at his job even in his “prime.” I say this as someone who has endured his idiocy since the 1970s. Inane comments, incessant mistakes and a steady stream of buffoonery. He should have been put out to pasture decades ago.

  4. 3 episodes into Lost in Space. So far so good. Promising. Some good characters. And how can you not like Molly Parker? Still wish Deadwood had lasted longer.

Never saw more than a few clips of the original so not sure how the premise compares.

Even though it's two teams I despise, I'm actually enjoying watching playoff hockey again. I've been following the Winnipeg series as well and watched the Vegas/LA game this morning on the pvr. I've boycotted the playoffs for a few years because my Habs have either not been involved or just sucked. No more. I'm not going to let a dumb as fuck GM and his crap team ruin my hockey watching experience. I have to endure the SFU but whatever. There are some awesome players in the NHL, maybe someday there will be some in Montreal again. They had a really good one in PK Subban but an ego clash fucked that up. PK may have lucked out, he sure is in a better situation nowadays on a powerhouse team.

    1. I am loving Patrick Lanie he is a viking and playing on a team with Ranagor Lothbrokke. To me and maybe history will prove me wrong Lanie was the number one pick. In any event Winnipeg has assembeled in just 7 short years a fucking awesome team. In seven years we made the playoffs most the time an assembled something IKEA would not take back

    2. I remember telling my (too many) leaf friends that Laine was the right pick, not only a more complete player but a personality that could thrive in the CotU. They all pfft'd me. Glad for Laine he lucked out on that one. Couldn't CHeer for him with the leaf on his chest.

leafools eating a little humble pie lately. Laine a great player with a great shot, I would take either player on the Habs but it won't happen until they get competent managers and coaches. I miss the affable George Gillett and Bob Gainey.

  10. just watched ep 1 season 3 of the Expanse. Its the best Sci Fi by far on TV right now.

Looks like the leaf bought into the smurf plan early and often. It may be they are back on the rebuild. They have zero defence. Watch the sportsnet videos and the talking heads cutting the crap out of the leaf d.

  11. I watched season 1 of the Expanse and enjoyed it. Think I'll wait til it runs it's course and binge it at once.

The leaf D is crap but probably better overall than bargainbin's collection of pylons. I don't know if they'll win but expect the wretched leaf to play a better game tonight. They ran into a buzzsaw with the Bergeron line in Boston. One thing I've noticed about both of these teams is the emphasis has been placed on speed, especially the top 4 D. Sure, both teams still have a couple of douchebags but the days of goons beating people over the head with their own elbow pads appear to be over.

Those br00ns goon squads were led by julien by the way. I still have no respect for that dickwad. As far as I'm concerned, he's just a place holder until a new bilingual coach can be groomed out of the Q since there seems to be no turning back on that policy.

    2. Per Engels, PleXXX is bumped up to the 2C tonight with Marleau and Marner on his wings. I seem to recall he did a bang-up job checking Bergeron in the last Habs-Broons playoffs, so watch the veteran tonight - especially if Lamoriello is allowing play-off beard growth. His power was always derived from a lethal combination of goatee and turtleneck, after all.

    3. the COTU hates Turtleman. Based on his play to date, I dont want him back. let JDR score no goals instead.

  14. Attitude, Attitude! by Stéphane Laporte (en francais from plus.lapresse.ca) is a damn-fine read and quite damning of BBB generally. Jack Todd today in the MontrealGazette also finds fault with BBB for his refusal to take responsibility. I must concur.

    2. From Attitude, Attitude!

Loosely translated, he finds today's fans are wearing jerseys that show their true CH heros are no longer there, unlike when he was a kid.

He goes on to conclude BBB and GM are in an ivory tower, not unlike the condo towers they are building adjacent to the phone booth, but that fans will not be back in the fall if the two of them don't wake up and take responsibility for the debacle they created.

      Delete
    3. the Maritimer10:25 AM

I hope you are correct about the fans staying away this fall. I recall during the Houle era in the late 90's early 2000's when the team was equally bad, you could go to the box office and buy a ticket in the upper bowl. Games were not sold out. The fans voted with their feet. George Gillett came along and salvaged the franchise by letting QUALIFIED people run the hockey operations. Andre Savard was turning things around and then Bob Gainey took over. He made a few mistakes, sure, Gomez and the smurf brigade (although I loved Squid, that guy was a player) but it was getting better until Bob lost his daughter in a tragic accident and Gauthier took over. Geoff Molson better wake up, step aside, and let someone QUALIFIED take over hockey ops. I know I'm not watching more shit hockey next season.

    4. I remember that so very clearly as well, the M, and we seem to be watching history repeat itself. When Bob was finally given the reigns, I started to care again. I suspect this time our saviour will be Patrick Roy, but by the sounds of GM, he is as much a part of the problem himself, and he is in King Lear territory right now.

      Roy is our Cordelia

    5. the Maritimer1:13 PM

I think it's time to look OUTSIDE Quebec for a leader. Somebody that perhaps played for the Habs at one time but that shouldn't figure into the equation. Shanahan never played for the leaf. Lamoriello is an American. It's time to let go of the past in Montreal.

      Delete
    6. I would like to see Roy get his shot. My overall feel is the Mr Molsen is tight with a dollar, Bergy is seen as careful with a penny. I still want the Habs to be a French team. Its part of the legend. DBMB has turned this into cronies.

      Delete
    7. This is an excellent article - sums up a lot of what is wrong with the Habs. BBB blaming the Attitude on the losses is on him. In fact it is all on him. This is his team. He got rid of "attitude" when it didn't agree with his own. He has morphed into his predecessor Gauthier right in front of our eyes. He accepts no blame that his 5 year plan is for shit and a year out of date. If the attitude in the room was not right, it was down to him and Claude to change the attitude or get rid of the problem long before the end of year presser. We are absolutely doomed as long as he is running the show. "Piss Up" and "Brewery" come to mind when I think about things he has no idea how to run. The more he gets called out for it, the greater the chance someone will start taking notice...

The smug SFU dissed SuperpleXXX the whole fucking pre-game show but Turtleman proved them wrong with an outstanding performance tonight, helping shut down the Bergeron line, cross-checking the shit out of ratface a few times and picking up an assist on the insurance goal. Fuck mclame and especially kypridiot for their biased anti-Montreal opinions.
