Congratulations to the 2018 Champ!

GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!

  • It was a 2 man race, but K3X won it long ago as he had the VGK in the semis and I did not.  Overall we both did terrible.  K3X less terrible than I.
  • We'll add sexiness to this later.  Any request by the champ will be thoroughly considered.  Note - I am leaving very early Saturday morning for a weekend of golf and debauchery.
  • I had recent 'code of conduct' training at work.  Hence the lack of sexiness.

Bigotry and racism and petty politics still rearing their ugly heads in 2018, not that I believe that stuff will ever go away. Neither the Cavs nor Warriors will be invited to be feted at the White House. It will be interesting to see what the Capitals will do. I would take a guess and say they WILL attend.

Ontarians are surely in for some interesting times with another grassroots politician at the helm. Have fun Steve!!

Despite it being 25 years since a Canadian team has won the cup and the fact no Canadian team has ever won the NBA title, fact is both are North American leagues. Justin should invite both the Caps and Warriors to the Hill. Tariff free.

Wasn't Lego a frequent target for bashing by the hockey geniuses who habitate antichamber? He was always a good player who was constantly miscast or benched by Arrogant Fuckface. Who got the last laugh?

Yeah Jack Todd tweeted something mentioning how the fans were always on Eller's back. He needs to be corrected on where the hatred stemmed from.

    Wait, what?

Hey kidz! Thought I'd say hello and tell you I am not dead. I thought that was important.

  5. And one more very very very important note from your former Lord and Master or whatever I was:

It is tradition after the Habs get eliminated from the playoffs (ha!) and / or the end of the playoffs period to thank whoever worked hard to run the blog this year. Goddammit, moe and Saint Pad deserve so much extra credit for keeping things going during this dreck than I can ever express. Tremendous work guys. Even when I wasn't commenting I was lurking to makes sure things were alright. They were more than alright.

+2 strippers (each) unless there is code of conduct training in which case +2 nuns. In sexy outfits

    1. Yeah they beat a dead horse to life. True Blood dat. I loved this cup more than any in my recent memory. Mostly because I wanted to see Ovie and Putin sipping bubbly. Add to that the fact that Lego and DSP where indispensable.

You can never train the animal instinct out of animals, thank goodness we are self appointed humans.

  6. What I really wanted to say is that the waves of cognitive dissonance have to be hitting Mr Molson right now like a Tsunami. Will he feel them like a ship at sea where they are an inch high, or at shore where they wash away franchises?

Glad to see moe, juce and HF29 are still alive and kickin' ... this past season of atrophy and dissonance is now behind us. Let's hope Geoff Molson emerges from his coma or whatever fucking voodoo spell bargainbin had cast on him and finally sets this ship in the right direction. Let Trevor Timmins take the helm and bargainbin can be the Francophone SFU puppet they crave to talk to them in their official language. Youth, youth and more youth with lots of speed and skill is the answer to building an eventual winner.

I have seen (read) arguments for Z and BT, I don't care which one they pick as long as they can score goals. I want offense, fuck this 1-0 shit preached by chokula, arrogant fuckface and jabba the hutt.

Thanks to Saint Paddy for helping out our fearless leader moeman, enjoy the golf and debauchery ... you won't be breaking 100 but who cares? Have FHFun!!

  9. With our 35 and 38 pick the potential for a home run is certainly there. From what I have read after 5th pick, its almost a toss up to 50 or 60.

Timmins has the chance to really re-stock the cupboards in 2018 and '19 as long dumb and dumber don't get in his way.

Speaking of golf and debauchery, my oldest son has been inviting me to a golf weekend for the last 10 years or so with he and his friends (all early 30's, married with children) the last weekend in May on PEI. This year I agreed to go with the provision I only play what I am able to (they do 2 rounds a day and sometimes a bit more). Unlimited golf is part of the package. I shared a cabin with two gentlemen my age and one of the younger guys who figured out some time ago it was healthier to stay with the older group. I stuck my head in the "main" cabin the next morning after we had arrived to see who was awake ... man, all I could smell was a combination of booze, weed, leftover food and body sweat! I'm glad those days are over for me. I prefer sipping on scotch and turning in at 11 rather than drinking until 4:00am then getting up at 8 to tee off. Yikes!

That being said, I hope Saint Paddy is having fun!

  11. Golf post. Sadly the M you were correct. I did not break 100 with rounds of 109,102,105. I was happy with the 102 as it was the second 18 on Saturday without a break between rounds and the last 4 holes in fading light. First nine holes of the day were the worst 9 holes I've played in 10 years so it was back to basics with keep my head down, slow the back swing. And I had a rough time with a bad back which didn't help my score. Most of the guys who are 10-15 strokes better than me to start with had personal best scores in the mid 80s on Saturday.
Beautiful, forgiving course and facility. Worth the extra few bucks over a pei trip, and though there was no shortage of alcohol consumed, it wasn't one of those trips like you mention above like we did in the old days.

  12. Hockey post.

    - first good on Ovi and the Caps partying their asses off in public with the cup. I can't help wonder though if in a parallel universe where the Habs contend and win the cup, if one of them behaved like Ovi, just how hard would they be roasted by the media? Or replace everything you've witnessed Ovi do since winning the cup, and put PK in his place. Do you think the media treat him a bit differently? Hmm, i wonder?

    - I heard a rumour while on my golf trip that if he reaches feee agency, the Habs will break the bank to try to lure JT. Like Eklund, i cannot reveal my source. This rumour may or may not have surfaced after midnight after Saturday's 2 rounds of golf worth of drinking (and a little bit of smoking...). Just putting it out there.

The pundits and some fans seem to believe JT will solve all the Habs problems. Not I. Eric Engels just wrote an article at Snot about this. Everyone seems to forget this was a 28th place team that can't score and can't defend. You don't turn that around overnight. Sure, they may perform a small miracle and make the playoffs next season but, a lot of teams in front of them are going to have to crash and burn first. Unlikely to happen.

Once upon a time, I used to watch nearly every game the Habs played and expected them to win. The last three seasons, it's the opposite. I expect them to lose nearly every game. It's bad when you feel that way but what are you gonna do?

    2. I agree man. There is no magic bullet to fix what MB has messed up. I would never be happier than to be more wrong, but I don't believe anything good will happen until MB and CJ are replaced by somebody more current. And does that guarantee anything? No, but that change wold at least give me far more hope than I have now at least.

    3. the conventional wisdom is that big buck free agents are a bust. the conventional wisdom is that big buck free agents sign with their team and thats good for the team. Both statements cant be correct.

I agree 100% Steve. The Habs are already in for expensive long term deals for Price and Weber. They shouldn't throw 12 million a year at Tavares. It will only hamstring them for years down the road. Please, for the love of God and the Rocket, build a team through the draft. The majority of Habs fans are smart enough to recognize a good plan and be patient. Many, many fans are saying the same things on Twitter, the Habs have not drafted well and even worse have not properly developed the good ones they've picked or traded them away for the quick fix. This must stop or the majority of the fans are going to turn their backs on Les Glorieux. I'm nearly there myself which I never, ever, thought would happen. Do the right thing Marc. No Tavares and don't trade away your picks or you will be vilified even more than you are now.

    1. so Timmins was dealing with idots? WTF. I read that we have been drafting the fourth liner for years, and who made that decision?

This draft is a big one. Mcsplooge says Brady Tachuk, in hopes he will be a Wilson. Could be we need that dimension. But we need a dman and someone who can score fucking goals more.

  15. World Cup day. I've got a surprising England victory over Portugal in the final in my bracket. In reality, it's likely Brazil over Germany, with Brazil taking out the English in the 1/4s.

  16. Caught 30 minutes of the opening round of the US Open during my lunch (I'm fortunate enough to work a 7 minute drive from home). Rory was +10 through 11. That's my kind of golf, makes me feel like I could compete...even if in reality I would probably be 20 strokes off that.

They are playing the U.S. Open this year in a cow pasture, not a tree in sight. Lots of wind and tall fescue. At +10 you are still in contention...
