That is some sexy Friday, although that Anthony Bourdain pic kinda weirded me out...

"It's looking more and more like Tavares will be staying with the Islanders." One can only hope...

Hey man, the back is slowly improving, not golfing too much, too much tourqueing and twisting to play a lot. Going to try 9 holes once a week and build up gradually.

  5. Max was the top forward on the 2015 gold winning Canadian World Juniour team. He has type 1 diabetes and has to check his blood sugar every 15 minutes during games. 5 foot 10, LW or Centre, good creativity and has to work on how to play without the puck. Grew up a Leafs fan, of course, but that should give him some jam playing for an original six, eh? At least his dad shouldn't be a problem. Still, I will miss gCHuck

I'm interested in your thoughts. Domi fits bergevin's modus operandi ... less skill, more grit. I predict that Zadina is off the table, it will be Tkachuk or a defenceman.

    2. yeah i know. Thinking about what we lost to get him should come into it too. And we lost a proven talent for a possible one, albeit with two more years before going UFA. The better contract is really the only thing Domi has on gCHuck. And I guess the organization really was finished with him big time. Which I don't get.

  7. Up next for your enjoyment... Pacioretty for Lucic... and maybe one of Montreal's 2nd rounders thrown in since bergevin likes to give more than he receives.

  10. What we dont know must be the reason. Bobby Clarke was type one, and had no tech to regulate. My son is type 1, today its just a pain in the butt more than anything. However DOMI for gCHuck straight up, WTF. Did no one watch the playoffs, half the goals where one timers from gCHucks office. I just dont know what to think anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Our only hope is that Buttman quashes the deal as too one sided. Hmmm maybe that John Scott deal had a footnote. Trade your best player to the Yotes for a smuf with upside.

Therein lies the first issue with this trade. Galchenyuk was arguably the biggest trade chip Marc Bergevin possessed in his arsenal, and all he got in return was a player who scored nine goals — four of them into an empty net — last year. With no additional picks, prospects or any other assets, the Canadiens traded away their biggest piece of leverage for a single roster player who has 18 goals in the last two seasons combined, and that quite frankly is just not good enough.

  12. Please alert the fire department. There is going to be a major dumpster fire in Montreal draft weekend.

  13. Thanks for being a Hab gCHuck. Unfortunately for you, you actually said that you loved being one.

Welcome to Montreal Max. Time will tell if there’s room for two Max’s.

I think one of the bigger culprits here is MT2. He didn’t like the kid, just line couldn’t stand PFK.

Despite the new contract, not sure the Habs win this trade. Par for the course.

D just said Patches isn’t likely leaving. Based on previous experience, he’s gone.

  17. I've been AWOL. So, ah wtf happened? I like MiniMax but liked gCHuk more. gCHuk, among others, have been mismanaged by a group of out of touch, old (and possibly racist) backward thinking dumbasses and he is far better off, even in fuckung Arizona. 19. In gCHuk's case, it was complicated by his father's omnipresent picking on his every move, according to RDS's François Gagnon. Every home game, papa would take him aside for a post-mortem lecture, and text him between periods with nitpicking and shit. Another former beat reporter told me yesterday that was 100% true, and added there was no one in team leadership that was willing to stand up with him to his dad over all this nonsense, and it was constantly fucking him up. Which led to looking for ways to tune it all out between games. Hopefully Arizona is far enough away to get gCHuk away for that garbage.

That said, I sure hope MiniMax (great nick, Saint Pad) lives up to his potential here too. $3.15 M per season on two years seems generous to me, but hey, cap room ain't an issue around here.

    3. In light of this, perhaps the steadfast refusal to play him at Centre towards the end was mgmt's way of indirectly getting to père Galchenyuk (like fighting among the "parents"). I bet AF was unhelpful in his hard-ass approach. gCHuk coulda used JT2 earlier in his career perhaps? In any event, at some point, the child has to grow up to be a man and stand up for himself when he has an overbearing parent. Something PatCHes and Captain Kirk and TFS and BBQ - for all their supposed leadership - were never able to help him overcome, apparently.

  21. I am a bit late to this but let me start with expressing my horror at another complete giveaway from bbb. What a fucking moron! GCHyuk for Domi straight up strikes me as a "I want rid of this guy so what'll ya give me?" No upside to this giveaway. I refuse to call it a trade. That implies equal value on both ends. And still, Geoff Molson, who is apparently very active with what goes on with the Habs, does nothing? BBB must have video of him and a small animal. How can one man beallowed to completely dismantle a team only to rebuild it in his image as a player - a mid to shit player at that. He played in the league for 20 years but I never remember him being anything other than a journeyman stay at home average to shit defenceman that you wouldn't notice from one game to the next. I would trade him for Max Domi and no one would bat an eyelid...But Chucky? Give me a fucking break! Arpon Basu wrote a great article in the Athletic about how completely fucked up the management of GCHyuk has been. I wish him well in Arizona. I also guess I have to welcome our new 1st line winger and wonder if there is room on the Habs for 2 Max's...my guess is no! ...NOAR - BTW! And happy belated Father's Day

I wonder, were those reporters there to personally witness those interactions between gCHyuk and his father? How do they know about the texts, did gCHyuk say 'hey guys look what my dad says?" Did they read the texts? How would they possibly know? Unless, they were fed that by management so they can feed a narrative favourable to the team. I don't believe anything that comes out of management's mouth. If they tell me the sky is blue, I'll look upward to see for myself first.

They put everyone at centre and would even try the beer vendor rather than putting gCHyuk back there. My belief is that they simply didn't want to be proven wrong. The poor kid was screwed over mentally and poorly developed. Probably didn't know if he was coming or going.

  32. I've had a recent epiphany. As you may know I was high on Tkachuk even though my Moosehead PZ was ranked higher. The so called experts are now fucking with their rankings, moving Tkachuk up to 3rd and the Finnish C to 5th. I honestly think this is to solely fuck with Ego2's brain. "OMG there's that franchise centre we so desperately need!"

But in the end (and here is my epiphany) I got to thinking we now have Max Domi. Max's Dad spent a few years in the Peg with none other than Keith Tkachuk. BBB himself spent a season or 2 in St Loo at the same time as...Keith Tkachuk. He has shown to like familiarity with his Chicago connections, and I think we will see that trend remain at the draft as the Habs take, yep a left winger in Brady Tkachuk (but he played C a few games).

Add to the fact that we've seen him recently ditch the likes of Markov, Radulov, Sergachev, Jerabek, Galchenyuk and replace them with (no doubt grittier) for the most part, North American players I won't be surprised to see TkaCHuk (tCHuk?) Taken over a Zadina or a Kokanemi or what have you.

Anyway that's where I sit regarding the draft but nothing he does will any longer surprise me. I will be tuned in. Catch you there.

Timmins will want skill and scoring (Zadina) while Ego2 will want grit, toughness and CHaracter, whatever that is. Tkachuk it is then. Giddyup! We don't need no fucking goal scoring. It's highly overrated anyway.

I suspect bargainbin looks at his lineup every morning with his coffee and thinks: "Look at dese players, Stanley Cup winner! I got da bess goalie an' da tuffess defenceman in da league, no way we can lose!"

I look at his lineup and see pylons on D, perimeter players (kidG excepted) galore and a headcase #1 goalie. The Habs will be out of it by mid-October again and Aunti Niemi will take over the net by November. Tkachuk will be playing at Boston College again and bargainbin will be shuffling 5th liners and 8 and 9 pylonD's in and out of the lineup. It's all good. Lose for Hughes!
