  4. That's some fine SF stuff for a hot Canada Day weekend, moeman. Here is my "Big Repost" that I just dropped on the last thread a bit too late:

Here's a thought: listening to Captain Kirk give a little speech to the newbies yesterday in the "combine", and he was talking about the yaddayadda blah blah, history and tradition and such. And I thought, what if they took down all the banners and "To you from falling hands" plaques and other memorabilia and Stanley Cup reminders of the glory days and packed 'em all away and told the world they won't be pulled out again until the organization brings home #25. And incentive for the whole organization to pull together and FHFUCKING FHFIGHT for the RIGHT to yak about the "storied club history"

    It. Has. To. Be. Earned.

We are falling into Laff-land. Let's hold ourselves to a higher standard. It's been 25 years since the last Cup win and it's time to stop living in the past if we ever want to feel the hunger - the real hunger to win - like Ovie showed this past playoff.

Cuz that's bold and that's a statement and that's what it will take.

Thank you, sermon over. Back to you, Geoff. The torch, as you are fond of saying, is in your hands.

Great rant and accurate Scott. Thank you.

It's weird, I don't really care and yet I do. I read stuff all the time but I hardly watched any games last season. Maybe if they ever become relevant again my interest will pick up again but I feel like I've lost something and I won't get it back. Possibly I'm numb to losing and the incompetence of the gm and his fly by the seat of his pants "plan". Plus, the constant lying.

  5. Should have mentioned earlier...NOAR Moeman...NOAR for that Mountie!... and happy Canada Day to everyone here. ThebUK is having Canada like weather - hot as fuck and no rain! All weekend long so I will hoist a few on Sunday to your charms. My boy turns 22 Saturday so it could be a big weekend all round the K3x household... as for the Habs and the upcoming draft...i don't get the urgency to rid the team of the only goalscorer they have left after bbb gave away Chucky for a bag of low leaf pucks...bit he will do something stupid to u in my weekend. I can't quite switxhnifd...habs are ingrained in my heart and soul and because of that, as much as I am looking forward to celebrating this weekend, I dread that some horrible shit is gonna befall my team and I fear it might break me on day and for all...time will tell...

Remember when the Habs motto was: "No Excuses"? Now, it's "Attitude is Everything". Ha ha. You keep believing that bergy, we'll see how attitude stacks up against players with speed and skill.

Also, just to pile on a bit, today is the anniversary of a trade that will go down in infamy and I predict will be bergevin's legacy of his time with the Habs. The PFK trade. Cheers!

Another bergevin specialty... dumpster diving, but this was a good dive. Using Geoff's moolah to acquire more picks is a good move. Mason will be bought out, he only has 1 year left on his deal. Armia is the dumpster acquisition, a more skilled version of Thor perhaps? I like the two picks. Simon Bourque, no relation to Ray (AFAIK) was a good junior player (here in Saint John) not so good in the pros apparently.

Dumpster diving at its finest, it's what bergy does best. They'll carry a ton of cap space but the AHL team should be better. Definitely have signaled the rebuild, at least one more year of suckage at least, prob two. They are where the leaf were 3 years ago. Jack Hughes = Matthews. Bring it on.

    ReplyDelete
  41. As much as we like to dump on Bergy, kudos to him for not paying that ransom that the Blues gave to Barfalo for ROR. That price is insane. BBB just needs to continue the 'reset'as he calls it and move Patches for picks and prospects. It's actually looking a lot like what the leaf did for the Matthews/Laine draft.

Pay your dues, deplete the crews, drink some booze, ignore the news, shine your shoes and lose for Hughes.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the Maritimer10:16 PM

Agreed. I have no use any more for mssr. bergevin but he did stand his ground today on one front at least, the O'Reilly deal. St. Louis wants to be relevant in the west and I get that. That was a hefty price to pay but, they didn't give up Thomas, Kyrou or Dunn. I wish them good fortune. As for the Habs, this is what it has come too, elite UFAs won't give them the time of day so they now have no choice but to draft and develop. Personally, I'm all for another 28th place (or lower) finish in 2019. Looking at the lineup compared to the big boys, it shouldn't be a problem. Finally, congrats to Shanaban and Dumbass for pulling off the coup of the day convincing JT to come home and play for his childhood favourites unlike Vinnie and Briere who told the Habs to suck it when they came calling. The leaf should be serious contenders next spring. The leaf fans can now ridicule we Habs fans and rightly so, but the SFU can fuck off and die.

      Delete
  42. DBMB should start handing out the drink some booze loose for Hughes tshrits.

The blues did not give away the farm, a first and second plus a bag of pucks. However the Blues are in a win now window and we are in a win whenever window.

The JT move is the deal of the century in the NHL. You have old lou vs young dumbass in a death match. Dumbass holding all the cards. The fact is that JT left about $20 million on the table. Money can not buy the love he is going to get from the COTU.

In defence of Vinne and Beer, the teams they were coming too where not cup contenders just by their addition. In Toronto much different situation. All they lack is a number one d man, and the Pens and Golden Knightly Showers prove you can win without a stud d.

Bergy should be able to pry Nylander out of there. Take Martin's bad contract. Over him Patches and BBQ or even Dish. The leaf can handle the cap hit for one or two years, so in a sense they are rentals, but it makes the leaf a almost certain cup winner next year.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the Maritimer8:30 AM

Vinnie and Beer both had a chance to come to Montreal when they were competitive, with Saku and l'Artiste on the team, both bailed. Vinnie relished the anonymity of Tampa (and the weather) and I think Beer's wife at the time insisted on going to Philthy.

If Montreal is out of it by the trade deadline next February, they should seriously consider moving Weber to a contender, I can't see him being too happy with the rebuild. He's turning 33 in August, time is running out. Toronto could use him for sure. So could Philthy.

  44. The media have, for the most part, seen this 1st July period as a "win" for bbb - maninly because he didn't do much of anything. He didn't land Tavares (thank goodness) and he didn't trade Patches or TFS. They picked up more 5th line grinders and a potential translation coach for the new 1st line center they drafted...but that's it. Oh and Pleks comes back to do exactly nothing for 6 months then be traded again at the deadline. So all in all bbb did fuck all and is being praised...that is where we are now!

Weber will be a 35 year old defenceman by the time he fully recovers. Great call on that trade bozo.

By my way of thinking there will be only two teams next season with less talent than the Montreal Canadiens ... Ottawa and the Islanders ... and that may be a stretch. I wonder if bergevin realizes his team is out of the 2019 playoffs already? Actually maybe he does (did) and is preparing for the 2019 draft already?

    2. ugh. Poor Dish. He will be overplayed in the #1 slot all season again. Everyone will suffer for being bumped up past their level of competence and the young bloods will lose confidence and fail to develop to their potential. So maybe another rebuild will be in order.

    3. trade dish now, we are just going to burn him out and devalue his worth to nothing and get a bag of pucks at the draft/

Anyone considering going to see the new Jurassic World movie ... I can't recommend it. I enjoyed the first one but the new film is a remake of Jurassic Park II, even worse maybe.

  64. Jeez Louise, if it weren't for bad luck... Now we learn complications from the knee surgery on BBQ meant he will now be out for about the first half of the season. Sounds like Vodkov all over again. We shall seriously suck now. Suckity suck suck suckage.

    1. I don't get it. . bbq has been out since middle of last season. Wtf did he Do to fuck his knee?

    2. The foot was the initial injury. The knee got fucked up from his insistence on playing hurt (or on the team prodding him to play before being 100%, more likely). They couldn't operate on the knee until the foot was healed. And once they did get to the knee, it turned out to be more severe than they had originally thought. Or something.

How is it that all the injuries end up being 'worse than we thought'? That's their line and they're sticking to.

All due respect Scott, Vodkov was able to move the puck.

I'd say ouCH but that is some respectful shade.

    5. Now I would never allege that there is no knee injury and its all a stealth tank strategy.
DGMB just is not that clever. You know me I think conspiracy theories are all part of the Mans plan.

    6. I was not disparaging the Good General Vodkov, far from it! I was awkwardly trying to allude to that period where he spent nearly complete seasons out of the line-up due to horrific knee and or foot injuries. History repeating itself and all. And yes, the man can skate the puck out of the zone with the kind of assurance our BBQ just can't match on even his best day. Cheers, juce!

Also, didn't HF29 hang out with gCHuck's hot sister and Dr. Mulder (separate events)?

    Dibs on the following;

    'HabsWorld'
    'Star Trekker'
    'The Expense'
    'The Walking Dud'
    'Breaking Bad Q'
    'Stranger Things, really?'
'Curb your enthusiasm' (sue me Larry David, I know a FHFantastic internet lawyer)

  69. DGMB could learn a thing or two from Dumbass. When the leaf where is the "reset" they grabbed UFA and projects, pumped and dumped for draft picks. Case in point Anthony Dulcair, the Blue Jackoffs just signed him on a one way for $650,000. We could not have done that?

  70. The one thing the leaf and it's nation has and will always do is be arrogant. Tavares seems like a nice guy, they will ruin him.

Imagine that it takes a pud like dgmb for Habs fans to start suggesting a vile organization like the leaf/SFU should be looked up to. Never.
