  3. What is amazing is how we have evolved from cows, there side boobs are not sexy. Now that Garth Snow is gone we are the CHallenged team in the playground. Maybe we should just go all in and hire Don Cherry.

In other news the situation in Ontario has gone from right wing to down right fascist, stay tuned
the chaos is about to go beyond reason in the pursuit of the unreasonable.

    1. It is frightening that the new norm may be electing the trumps and fords of the world.

Back in 2012 I was one of a select few that thought hiring McSplooge as GM wouldn't be all bad. Though I cannot predict how the draft may have differed or what trades and free agent signings we might have seen, I can confidently state that it is highly unlikely that he would have traded PK.

      Now?
Pat Roy or Bobby Smith as prez.
Pat Roy or Mark Hunter as GM.
Some combo of these hockey minds sets us on the right track.

I know I shouldn't be thinking hockey as I sit on my deck overlooking the bath water warm Northumberland Strait, which I will be dipping in shortly...but as the mind wanders, I can't keep those fuckers outta my head.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous11:50 AM

True, he wouldn't have traded PK but can you imagine the pressers when asked about line-up choices? He'd go into ramblings about a players birth, whether he was breast-fed and what veggie he didn't like. And the name-dropping... I guess I could live with that if it meant PK was still here and he'd probably make more sense than the BS fed to us by BBB who thinks Montreal fans are idiots.

McSplooge indeed might've been okay. Who's to say? Maybe he'll get his chance in a year or two. I know this: we do now have a decent group of young & speedy players and some good people to help them along. It's not a given this season they will make the playoffs, but I do think the refocus of this summer towards a brighter future down the road at least gives us a chance to enjoy watching this talent develop, and hopefully gel.

But yeah, Geoff STILL NEEDS TO TAKE A SEAT AND GIVE THE ROLE OF HOCKEY PRES to someone knowledgable. GYFHG

On this hot New Brunswick Day, Mrs. Maritimer and I took a 45 minute scenic drive to Pennfield just off Route 1 for a meal at Comeau's Seafood restaurant. I had Fish Bits made from haddock with mashed potatoes and coleslaw and Mrs. theM had deep fried clams. Of course there was sharing... when we were done it was two minutes back the way we came and a stop at McKays wild blueberry stand to get fresh made blueberry shortcake and a 5 lb box of fresh berries to take home to put on cereal and to make a blueberry pie. Pennfield is the heart of blueberry country in Charlotte county. Can't beat them for flavour.

  18. So I went over to the SFU sites to check on Mikita's passing and a couple of things I noticed:

    1. Bartolo Colon is still fucking pitching. He must be 70 years old. He seemed old when the Expos failed miserably when they grabbed him in 2002. I see the great Michael Farber has a thing on there titled 'The Last Expo'. Might give it a watch later.

    2. I think it's possible that Bluejays' prospect Vladdy Jr. has already had more written about him on the SFU sites than his hall of fame father had his whole career. They sink their fucking hooks into guys like him, Tavares, Matthews, etc and don't let go. It's a little sad really. And it's probably very similar to the Franco media with the Habs...I just happen to not see that stuff.

The once classy Montreal Canadiens have sunk to the depths of fucked up teams with ridiculous management like the Islanders, Carolina and Arizona. The Habs are currently directionless with no vision, or, a vision that changes from day to day on a whim. Oh look! There's a player that speaks French! Let's trade a stud PMD for a LW and shoehorn him into center! Fucking brilliant eh Geoff? So what if he finished -30, he's great with the francophone media.

I've read rumours that season ticket holders have declined to re-up their season passes. I can only hope there are no other fools, errr takers, to replace them. Molson needs to be punished financially so the board can "remove" him from the president of hockey ops position and get some competent people in there. This bullshit has gone on way too long.

    2. I agree 100% with theM.

As a lifelong Habs fan, like many of us here I am one who has seen the ultimate in on and off ice greatness. I could list all the names but we all know what made the CH the emblem of class and CHampionships.

I was intrigued when dgmb was hired. Coming from a Chicago Hawks winning franchise with not a true depth/pedigree but some hope of a fresh outlook. I recall most of us suggested to give it some time. Maybe we relied on the Molson name. Maybe because dgmb inherited a very good team, in a league of mostly mediocre teams.

Never, ever, did I expect things to unfold this way. I suspect a lot of still-here and summarily-gone players feel/felt the same way.

The future's promise has brightened somewhat this summer. I don't see the quoted transparency from the execs. I wished dgmb had left many months ago. The CH org. structure is out of whack. Many fans feel the same way but we now realize that Geoff isn't hearing this specific message.

Apart from PatCHes, TFS™ and KidA , the only stability we've seen is from Timmins. His batting avg. is high and how can we blame him for the trades dgmb made with some of the more illustrious picks (especially on D and of course gCHuck).

There is a non-transparent rebuild going on. A bigger person would admit it. dgmb won't.

People that luck into top management positions (undeservedly) will NEVER choke on their own mistakes until booted out. I've seen this a few times in my business career. Some people skate on other's successes (see dgmb ride TFS™) and are only removed when things get really bad.

I hate being negative all the time but there has been nothing really positive to talk about for 3 long years. bergevin didn't necessarily inherit a good team but he did inherit some good, young skilled players and got the 3rd overall pick that year (2012). The first mistake was regurgitating a twice fired francophone coach, because, you know. The team went on a couple decent playoff runs and bergevin thought all he had to do was tweak things here and there to "catch lightning in a bottle." That didn't work so he decided character was the answer which was the beginning of the dismantling of that good young core. It's been all down hill ever since. The Kelly guy who write for the Gazette pretty much nailed it, all Molson wants to do is live off the past and the fading CH brand. Hopefully, the other partners and Bell will realize this is doomed to failure like the folks in Toronto realized and act accordingly and bring in there version of Shanahan to right the Habs ship.

moe mentioned the Habs started a silent rebuild with all this past June's draft picks and I hope he is right. I think they reached too far with KO when Zadina was the consensus 3rd overall pick. Detroit got both of the players I wanted the Habs to select in Zadina and Veleno. I think we will be looking at those players with envy in the very near future and wishing Timmins had picked them.

Another embarrassing regular season should seal bergevin's fate but you never know. Football is just around the corner thankfully.
