That tilt last night was a dandy, especially when $5 switched to his left hand. He got in a half dozen good shots with the left. I can see him serving a purpose on this speedy Habs team. Chaput seems to be the weak link on that 4th line. Put Peca back in.
Not watching tonight ... don't care for Florida. It would be nice to get former Saint John Sea Dog Jonathan Huberdeau out of that place. He would look good in the sainted flannel.
1. so lucky luongo isnt starting tn in his final match at home 2. that was a great goal. they totally deserved to be highlited on considering that epic swing and a miss by kenny (unlike dish last night), and that awesome move by vic doing everything right except having the poise to hold on for ONE MORE SECOND like a certain PFK would/did... 3. this is a gimme game much like det was waaay harder than it should have been and like stL except that they fell into old habits making a start out of some new kid who will be a career nothing like cam ward, michael leighton...
The fucked up leafools booed Larry Murphy all the way to Detroit where he went on to win a couple of Cups. Jake Gardiner can tell them all to fuck off when he leaves town next July.
The Sick Fucks are starting to feel some heat now that their October 2018 Stanley Cup winners are not looking so good. Ha ha ha... leaf schadenfreude is always delicious.
that was the right call on voiding leko's goal. he also used his hand to push it. we dont need these cheap goals right now. save em for the playoffs when dirty hockey begins vs the flyers and bruins.
that was a really good period. definitely one of the best :20 ive seen all year from this team.
watching this game got me thinking... the D is soft, but thats b/c barginbin messed up exposing (Y) and n8. and then the trade and then not keeping vodkov.
Niemi is out of this world tonight! But that's 2 nights in a row being outshot and bailed by the tender. So time to bear down and win some by controlling play.
I didn't see the whole game but I didn't get the feel that the majority of the 50+ shots were much...though there were a number of fantastic saves to be sure.
To be clear my statement above is meant to imply that even though outshot 2-1 again, the play wasn't that lopsided from what I witnessed. It also wasn't as lopsided as the 5-1 score would suggest. Just great play at the right time and a goalie on fire (and James Reimer in the other net). When asked when was the last time he heard his name chanted, Niemi said "never". Well done - things are looking bright if this tender tandem can keep this up.
Oh, and shhh don't tell the sfu, but the Habs are tied with the broon and 1 pt behind the leaf. Games in hand, schmames in hand. Ya still gotta win those.
According to the SFU, the leaf, aka the bestest team in the history of the universe, were destined to win the Cup this spring. I don't know why the league didn't just hand it over to them back in October.
So KotK's goal - let's all discuss for asec...or rather - praise it. I watched all the xtended highlights and because the wifi I was using was pretty shit, it was very slow and lagging...when it came to his goal however, this was really useful. It showed how experienced and skillful he is. He cuts to the net, protects the puck with the way he angles his feet and stickblade and in doing so prevents the defender from getting at him. If he takes him out it's a penalty - possibly a penalty shot - but he didn't and it was a goal - which is great!. But what I am going onj about is this...that was a very seasoned veteran's play there...not an 18 yr old rookie play. That was some serious high skill from KotK. Man oh Man! This kid is going to be something to watchfor years to come...and his smile if fab too! Anti did indeed look as dialed in as he can ever look - he does play a funny ol' game - but he made ten big saves when he needed to - which was what they didn't get from him last season. That was also the 2nd game on the trot so getting outshot is no big deal - they had a lead, they built on the lead - they won! Nothing to complain about here!
I think most if not all of us FHFriends have seen a lot of Habs hockey. The thing for me an KidKo is he's exciting to watch. We get to see this young Hab develop before our very eyes. The internet can be a good thing. I like to focus on his play when he is on the ice. His hockey IQ is off the charts for an 18 year old. Although needing a few Kgs of muscle, he is not easy to move off the puck (stick smarts and body position) and FWIW he doesn't shy away from anyone. The kid is a joy to behold.
It Bergy's get out of jail free card for the rest of his life. Q Bergy can I talk to you about... A Kotememti, did you know I drafted Kotementi agaist the flow.
Excellent analysis, K3X! I also find he was particularly quick and deft at using the stick blade to fool his opponents. His own teammates are still getting used to his passes that no one else expects. I think he is a jewel and will be wearing the C eventually (sorry KidA)
Regarding moe's comment above about Kid Koho, I agree wholeheartedly with his assessment. I have to confess, I was totally against his selection at #3 in the 2018 draft. I know (knew then) that the Habs desperately needed a top 1 or 2 center and even though he was the consensus best one available in that draft, I thought the smart pick was Zadina who projected as an elite scoring winger. I also thought the 2018-19 season was going to be a write off anyway and the Habs were destined to be a lottery team for a couple years at least. Young Kotka has proven me totally wrong and I and happy to admit it. Like moe, I watch his play fairly closely and he does possess elite vision and hockey IQ, which, as gCHuk proved many, many times cannot be taught or, maybe he was just unwilling to learn. Also, who knew that Max Domi would be able to be a #1 center or that Dano was actually capable of being a decent #2? I doubt that this was all good planning but more like bergevin falling into a pile of shit and coming out smelling like a rose. Anyway, Kid Koho has a very bright future, I look forward to him getting better and better as he gets older and stronger.
Thank you Trevor Timmins or whichever amateur scout followed Koho around last year.
Didn't he finish the game after serving a minor on that play? I would have been slightly pissed at one game (first offense, no?) but three is a bit harsh. I think it is all because he left his feet, but realistically, as a short guy, he was probably not aiming at his opponent's head. It just turned out that way. Anyway, CHud is healthy.
Its a good thing I dont live in Montreal because I would be leading the Lord Byron riots. Ripping up the streets bringing traffic to a standstill. That is a bullshit suspension, one game maybe, The other shit that goes on and he gets three games. Ratface should be banned for life along with the Jackal.
On Kidko, we have seen other rookies make highlight reels, but they most if not all use their legs and hands, Kidko does it all with his head.
Michel Bergeron on @TVASports just said he didn't like Max Domi's goal celebration last night, and he didn't like Max Domi's aggressiveness last night.
The above quote is from Twitter... how about it Brother moe?
3 games before the All Star game and the Habs' 5 day break means Lb is off until Groundhog Day. Good time to heal any nagging injuries and come back fresh for the back end of the season. Thanks Buttman.
Broons lost to Philthy last night. Playing the Blues tonight, who have been much better and we'll be level in games played and tied in points if they lose. The putrid team play the Bolts tonight...will still have 2 games in hand but still will only be 1 point ahead after losing.
I'm telling you the stars are aligning for the Habs to finish top 3 in the division.
And I just want to throw on my conspiracy theory hat for a moment. As I was looking at the standings, I decided to look at all the standings to see where other teams are sitting and was shocked to see the Hawks slipping to the bottom of the West. I believe there are certain teams the league curtail to and this is one of those teams. It's 15 years or so since the Hawks finished a long skid of annual suckage, resulting in a number of high draft picks. Two of those picks in particular panned out very well and were instrumental in their trips to the final and taking home the cup. That said, barring some miraculous comeback this season, if they finish in the bottom 5 or 7 of the league standings, I predict next season you will see Jack Hughes wearing an Indian head on his chest. I do NOT trust the lottery, no matter how many accountants they have in the room when it takes place.
That is a good theory. The Rags are another possibility, I don't think the Littlest Commissioner would want to see the league's marquee team languishing at the bottom too long. One team that the shysters would never help is Montreal, too much hatred by the SFU and the league's broadcast stooges to ever see a franchise type player like Crosby land there. I don't know how Edmonton does it.
I think it's the Gretzky effect. Even before he rejoined the organization, it goes back to 'the trade' to LA. That deal with the devil was perhaps in perpetuity...
JFC, the CotU's SFU are now peddling, in unison, that Tampa is shooting it's regular season load and will peter out in the playoffs. They are winning too much! Fucking mediots.
Heh heh, it's just a weak attempt at distraction, trying to draw attention from the FACT that their fucking team fucking sucks at the moment and the FACT that Montreal is nipping at their heels. It would be so funny to see that invincible October juggernaut fall into wild card territory after the SFU were crowing so loudly about Matthews=Gretzky and Reilly=Orr. Fucking losers.
Never been a big fan of fighting (unless warranted) but Habs have one of the league's best in Fiver.
ReplyDeleteThat tilt last night was a dandy, especially when $5 switched to his left hand. He got in a half dozen good shots with the left. I can see him serving a purpose on this speedy Habs team. Chaput seems to be the weak link on that 4th line. Put Peca back in.

DeleteCotU mediots are so fucked up they tracked down Larry Murphy to comment about the current leaf D being booed.
