Mount Habsmore

I've seen enough of the leafer pissing in the corner, so...

This is my Mount Rushmore of the Habs.  Mount Royale perhaps, as these fine gentlemen are indeed Montreal royalty.

Question is which version should I use? Vote in the comments, even if your foursome is different.  Now that I think of it, should have included 29 with glasses since he's in Theo's spot.

NM, I couldn't choose just one.

I had a plan about analyzing MB's time with the Habs. I mean a full deal by deal review. Started it but lost hope. As well as last summer's deals may have turned out, fact is 7 years in, one trip to the conference finals, missing playoffs 3 of last 4 years says it all.  This MUST be his final opportunity to right the ship. If there isn't a bona fide #1C on the roster on opening day along with a steady D and a PP through the first month of the season, how can Molson keep going with this guy? Because I have no choice, I'm willing to give him one more off season to fix this team. Made some magic happen last summer but still needs a bigger trick. Hope he's got one up his sleeve.

Nature Boy!  Wooo!

For Moey...kitties are so nice

  1. I finished up the most recent season of Better Call Saul and the karaoke scene got me thinking of the brilliant This is Spinal Tap, hence the song of the day. Michael McKean can actually carry a tune.

  2. Well the B's are thru. Considering I had the BJs and NYI in the east, looks good for Sharks and Blues...I didn't pick either.

  3. I likes 'em all, but I guess I'm most partial to #3 with the classic mask. The Rocket, as depicted here, could scare many young children tourists, but is apt.

In looking at the upside of last off-season's choices by DGMB, I am hesitant to pronounce judgement just yet. I notice lots of guys had surprisingly good numbers last season, and the injury bug was not too severe. Still big question marks for the likes of Domini, Tuna, Druid and whether their career years last year were outliers, or signs of more greatness to come. Did a lot of good luck come into play? If Juuls returns and is en forme,... if Dish can repeat... if Kidko avoids a sophomore slump... if a good backup goalie is found...

  4. Good stuff St. Pad.

Another inexpensive signing. Will it pan put?

Also, hilarious to see the SFU cry like two year olds in a collective crib re: ratface's replies to one of the SFUers.

  6. For me, number 2 is the one you want. Classic, original mask .

As for bbb, we have no choice but to wait and see. New signings and rookies could surprise. Poehling won't be scoring 4 goals a game but he has potential. They need a bona-fide Dean and a pure goal scorer. Use the assets they have to trade for one. Make a big trade. Dare I say "trade the French guy"...? Trade and spend like there is no tomorrow...because tomorrow is 2020 and I'm really tired watching other teams win the Stanley Cup.

    1. Yep, #2 is the best one.

I've no problem adding Druid to a trade package. Any takers though.

Still think Duchene will be a Hab. How much is the question.

    2. I agree - with the BJ's run coming to an abrupt end, he will most likely hit free agency with Goalie Bob and the Breadman. I expect $7.5/7 years. One can argue whether he's worth it or not, but I think that's what it takes.

  8. That is a near perfect ending. Okay so lets look at St Louis. They fire Mike Yeo and are in last place in January. Now they are in the Western Semi. Phuctards hire Small Hands, and he brings Yeo and Empty on as assistants, its like thinking the trebucaha can defeat gunpowder.

The Macavoy hit on a bus, it was like roller derby, the shaved ape held him and from the other side of the track that broon charged, what did he expect would happen?

Edmonton brings on a failed Deadwing to lead the charge to the future. Who says the NHL is not old school.

  9. I see over at the SFU there is an article titled "7 NHL teams that could threaten to offer-sheet a superstar". One guess which 'superstar' they have pictured. Hey I like his play (in the regular season at least), but no way in hell is little Mitchy worth 4 first round picks. The only good thing about offer sheeting MM is how much it would rile up the SFU and their fans.

  10. Hockey/Playoff thoughts;

    - I worked in the area for many months, great arena and lots of ex-pats, Go SJ. (also fun that Marleau would probably regret his hightailing it for leaf money).

    - That Nick Suzuki kid, aka Suzukid, is something to watch eh? Also Teasdale but admittedly not up to speed on what he brings the big club.

    - When my son was younger, we attended a lot of OTT 67s games, Couture was a fave. Also, they had really nice and friendly cheerleaders.

    - Offer sheets, schmoffer sheets (SWIDT?)

    - Still on SJ, EK to the Habs as a UFA? Could help the PP. Imagine him with BBQ on the points.

    - The last player that deserves another Cup ring is justin williams. I won't cheer for them but broons v. Big Joe would be fun.

    - How many times have I written that the SFU is nothing but a bunch of fucking jerks? Whiny fuckers too.

    - Laval might just make the playoffs next year. The CH cupboard is getting full for Bouchard and his crew.

    - Via the Twitter maCHine, the leaf have hit 19k days without a Stanley Cup. What a pathetic organization.

    1. Nice stuff moe. Like SiM, I agree totally re Justin williams. Won the cup in 2006? because he took Saku's eye out. Not saying the Habs woulda won, but I think they take out the Canes. Far more egregious foul and I believe that too was Kerry Fraser with a direct line of sight.

      Delete
    2. And I've got Blues and Canes in final so your Sharks v Broons is prob accurate.

  11. EK + Burns + Vlasic is proving to be as huge a trifecta as I'd guessed. Hope either they or Big Bird's Blues take it all the way home from here. Couldn't agree more on the putrid Williams. Buttman should worry he and Ratface will get into a slice & dice with their stick blades in the next series.

Greetings FHFriends! I have been off the grid for a few days, cleaning out my late father's house and staying with my sister at her cabin on the shores of the majestic Bay of Fundy. Got my first round of golf in today -- the front 9 was awful as I tried to re-acquire my swing but the back 9 was acceptable. It was very, very tiring as I walked the course, about 11k, man, I'm beat.

I haven't watched much hockey lately, but from what I've been reading, the Jeremy Jacobs team has free rein to wreck havoc again with cheapshots galore and no or little consequences. I dread them making the finals, we have to hope and pray that San Jose or St. Louis can beat them.

I always preferred Dryden's original mask -- there was just something about it that mad him look unbeatable. That, and "the pose" -- never to be duplicated.

    ReplyDelete
  13. His mask is like a friendly version of a slasher movie.

No way the whalercanes beat broons, so I am going with St Lou

  20. You know I got away from going to the junior games 5-6 years ago. Buddy I used to go with moved away and it just wasn't the same. And even with the Memorial Cup coming to town next week, I'm kind of meh about it. However, with Nature Boy carrying his team on his back and now tied with the might 67's at 2-2...if Guelph happens to make it to the show, I might just try to snag a ticket or two to go see him play. Doesn't need to be against Halifax even. Some of the things he's done this playoffs are so very promising. Plenty of kids excel in junior and fail in the bigs so I'll never put the cart too far in front of the horse, but it sure seems like he's the real deal. Wooo!

  30. Deepish thoughts - GOT is real, its never going to warm up. Thank goodness Jon Snow is already PM. With littlefinger ruling Alberta and Walder Frey in Ontario he has his hands full.

Something exiting will happen. We will do a salary dump for talent trade? Will it be pretzel lurCH with Jesse Puljujarvi. Will it be a bag of pucks with Rangor Lothbroke? Nathan Horton and Kappa Kappo?

Jake Gardier is a a givaway machine, will we get him to take the pressure of the Druid? Would you overpay for DuCHe? At 15 with the choice of an aerodynamic Russian Sniper, a pure wool power forward and a huge man child Kraut D man, what will we do? (Hint always bet on the sheep)

San Jose says now way they are losing to St Lou. I think they can beat the broons.

Empty touted as the good cop in Fuctardville. His only move, dump the puck, just dump the puck. Rim it up the boards and dump the puck until the other team gets board and scores on their own net.

Bonne CHance the leaf miss the playoffs. The D will be worse, they will have to move a top six forward, and still no backup. HA HA..

  31. the Maritimer12:20 PM

    1. Jon Snow will be replaced by Euron Greyjoy as PM, the whole country will soon be as blue as the fucking leaf. I'm a right winger but even I need a bit of colour...

    2. Expect the unexpected.

    3. I think Jake Gardiner will be a Rag, they have tons of dough as well. The Turnover Machine will get some backcheckers to play with, even Scotty Bowman couldn't get the Flower to skate uphill. I would give the DuCH a ton of money short term, 5 years max and pay it all up front like Pajama Boy. I take the pure wool flyboy at 15.

    4. Jumbo Joe will finally get his revenge on the bearshit br00nz.

    5. Yeah, eMpTy, what a fucking joke that is, he shouldn't be allowed back in any rink but he will surely put the philthy phucktards in a deep hole.

    6. I agree, the leaf will have some turmoil next year, the youngsters will get tired of ol' squinty eyes act, they will tune him out and little dumbass will have a revolt on his hands. The SFU will be so focused on their leaf bullshit they won't even notice the habs blowing by their pathetic team.

Can't help cheering for them even though they're a SFU brand.
Now they will play that moment to death, and unless they go all the way in the end it means nothing. Like Jose's bat flip walk off a few years ago. A game mid way through the playoffs means nothing if you don't finish the job.

    3. the Maritimer8:49 AM

I liked Endgame. The battle between Cap, Tony, Thor and Thanos was epic and I enjoyed "the moment" with Mjolnir. I'm ambivalent towards GoT -- if I have never seen the show I wouldn't have missed anything. Still, the turn of events with Queen Daneryrus was interesting. She is her father's daughter after all.
