  1. I've been hyping Carbo HHoF induction for years.

After Bob Gainey, he kept the Selke-type play in a great light.

Selke trophy is now one of the top honours.

Love how the SFU are pissed he is getting the honour.

Gone for the weekend FHFers. Have FHFun.

    CONGRATS CARBO !

  2. Guy! Guy! Guy!

And it will NEVER happen, but I truly believe that if the sfu are intending on keeping a first intermission segment like the one that recently passed on, Guy would be a tremendous replacement. While he only coached about half as many games as ol' crotch, he did play 1317 more games than Don did at the NHL level. And I say it's a fair assumption to state that Guy probably has a better handle on the issues and style of play in today's game than the ol' xenosaur.

    2. True. But does the world really need another bombastic arsehole like Cherry filling that spot? Couldn't we just analyze some things from the past week in hockey without the drama?

I'd just like to see less leaf cheer leading to be honest.

They won't be able to call it coach's corner, Burkie never coached. How about Burkie's Banter...?

  3. I'm not a fan of Burke. Think he'd be there without the leaf connection? Doubtful.

  9. Devils' best goalie, Blackood, reported being tired after stopping some 38 shots in their 2-1 win against the Pens last night. I imagine Corey Schneider and his .852 save percentage will be staring down the ice at BloCHaid tonight. A couple of Devils' horses on injured reserve, including Vatanen. PK return, but he's been having a tough time getting going with his new team.

The blind-side hit and crush Ovie laid on Druid early last night looked literally bone-crushing, and although he returned for the third and took three shots, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't sit out for tonight to heal up. Cousins and Weal Deal want to play. KidKoho could skate in too at some point. Really loved Nature, Dano, Steak (Tuna-steak maybe?), CHar, BBQ, Lip, heck, the whole team last night. Great team effort. Kalebud (my nick for Cale Fleury), Meat, Dish,... no passengers!

I finished watching the game this morning, what a second period for the Montreal Canadiens. They skated the mighty Caps into the ice, they hadn't lost in over a month in regulation ... bring on the giant-killing, streak busting Habs. As SiM noted, no passengers last might, they look good when they are the Flying French... errrr, Flashy Multi-Culturals??? Blanchett and Legault might not like this team but the rest of us no pure woolers do.

That Weal goal, did that not remind you of Gretzky in his heyday, circling the offensive zone on his backhand and launching a backhander that finds its way in? You don't see that much anymore.

And I can't finish up without a shot at the SFU and their pathetic loser team that will be lucky to make the playoffs this year. Fat Blob noted that 11 of the next 13 leaf games are on the road with a western swing, should bury them deep in the standings. One can only hope.

Welcome back PFK, I still miss you!

    - refs got that Dano goal call correct...you know because a thigh nudge is a 'distinct kicking motion'.

The refs entered into the equation last night but, as I feared, after an emotional win in D.C. the night before, Montreal played down to their opponent. The Devils played the night before as well, so fatigue shouldn't have been a factor. Montreal squandered an opportunity to gain some ground on Boston and blew it. Those late goals in the period are killers. Learn from it.

Punishment for the players after last night:

"They should have to watch the whole broadcast like we had to, with commercials, Hughson’s commentary, and whatever the fuck Ron MacLean did during the first intermission, but with no alcohol to numb the effects."

    1. ACK! I am free of that nonsense, its Sergio and Dan for me. I have a friend who is using his brother in laws center ice password. The video quality is good, but not as good as getting a golden stream. The other crazy thing is they dont start the streams until 5 or 6 minutes after the puck drops, they dont put commercials on when the commercial breaks are happening, Rodgers is a shitshow. The only down side is Dan is about 15 seconds ahead of the video, but it means I am always have an early warning when something good or bad is going to go down.

Other good news from my friend. Kodi is alive and well, just some house cleaning going on and if you have the right addon nothing changed.

  39. I have spent at least a decade in this universe and it looks like there is no going back. So sometimes even the simplest of things surprise me because I forgot they where possible. Case in point, my internet speed which is supposed to be 100MPS was coming down at 10. I got a new usb stick with and antenna and went USB 3 and now I am at 90. I may not be Bill Gates but still I think I am a practical genius, maybe not a stable one but sometimes its pure gold gold Jerry.

  41. I’m no Jack Todd, who I respect for always sticking it to the man (google it kids) and after a few days of a relaxing vacation I’m putting out MY thoughts on ron maclean, who to me, is a hack to his core.

I’ve already mentioned how I’ve been trying to get the racist and xenophobic don cherry (aka ol’ crotch) cancelled for almost 3 decades. So there’s that.

As someone who likes the use of words, including bad puns (SWIDT?), the best word to describe maclean (aka mclame) is ‘cacaphony’, easily and appropriately defined as fake shit. That’s ron.

I watched cacophony’s yipping myopic video clip. I could barely get through the pure fucking smarmy bullshit.

Ol’ crotch is a morally-bankrupt reactionary and cacaphony played his putrid un-apologetic puppet for decades. He gets zero consolation from me. None. Ever. Wipe your own ass.

“The only thing more dangerous than ignorance is arrogance.” ~Albert Einstein

Cacaphony as host of HomeTown hockey is a Fraud. He does not represent all of Canada. We are not a selfish nation/people (SWIDT?), he and don are.

With all due respect, Cacaphony, you don’t now get to claim you’re somehow on the side of TRUTH & FACTS.

So, for me, I want you gone, for good. Go away and find some professional integrity.

Maybe go to a few screenings of ‘Won’t you be my neighbour?’ You might learn something.

To finish, this is the perfect picture of cacaphony. A fake that wants to be looked at.

BTW, I know it is cacophony. 🙃

I'm glad that Don Cherry was finally turfed. I am not 100% sure he is/was a racist, in the sense that he hated people of colour. For sure he was politically incorrect when it came to immigrants or hockey players who weren't from Ontario or the West. I don't know about Maritimers but I recall him calling Sidney Crosby a hot dog, I think he didn't take players from Atlantic Canada very seriously. I think he was a product of a bygone era and set in his ways. He was given far too long a leash by the CBC and HNIC and I read today in an article from Steve Simmons in our local paper that it was the ADVERTISERS who kept Cherry from being dismissed for years. As usual, they know where their bread was buttered - in southern Ontario - and knew Coach's Corner was heavily watched in that area. Sportsnet, to their credit, recognized that this time he had gone to far and acted accordingly.

On Ron MacLean, I have mixed feelings, I know he was Cherry's enabler but I wonder how much control he could actually exercise over his partner in crime, I suspect his superiors at the CBC were just as complicit in allowing some of Cherry's comments/insults regarding Francophone or European hockey players to go unpunished. I remember they put a seven second delay on his segment one time but I don't know if that held true anymore. I suspect not or his last transgression would have been cut off. I watched MacLean's monologue twice and I still don't know what exactly he was trying to say. I don't think he was apologizing, it seemed he was just saying Coach's Corner was done and trying to justify why he did what he did to all his old hockey pals who said he threw Cherry under the bus. Maybe moe is right and he should be turfed but who does Rogers get to replace him? Strombo wasn't cut out for that job. Jeff Marek? Ugh, Lord please spare us. I don't have an answer. It will probably (actually guaranteed) to be some leaf fanboy hack.

Speaking of said leaf, tsn are trying to garner some sympathy for their dysfunctional homeboys with a piece about how there's nowhere for the poor players to hide when things are going bad. Awwwwwww.... what a shame. I hope things get worse for them.

Anyway, my 5 cents worth on a subject that should be over and done with.

Notice I didn't use one profanity in my post? Trying to keep things civil, besides I used up all my cursing on the refs last Saturday night. What an incompetent crew that was. They should have all been fired after the game.

    4. Nice rant moe. Nice rebuttal the M.

Cherry's gone. I'm sure if he desires it, somebody will give him a platform to spew his nonsense. I agree he wasn't a racist, but rather a xenophobe. And I don't know if that stemmed from the fear of losing the Canadian identity of 'tough rock em sock em hockey' like was the norm back in the day or if it is/was an overall "we don't want your type" here in general fear.

The early days of MacLean, he at least used to 'try' to rebut Cherry on things or at least steer the ship in a different direction. I think the older they both got, the less desire there was to bother anymore. As for 'the apology', it was weird. Horrible. A moment of 'sorry' to the 'you people' out there and then a basic homage to his former partner. It wasn't good. He'll remain through this season, next season could be a whole new era of leaf fans at the helm. Maybe hire that fake smile selfie kid that's famous on twitter now.

  42. Hey the M. What's your thoughts on the new Mustang Mach E? I think like most rebooted vehicles, it looks terrible, like a 2008 era Mazda CX5 or something.

My first vehicle was a '75 Dodge Dart. It didn't live long (bought it in '88) but it holds a special place in my heart. Was excited, then disappointed when they relaunched the Dart recently. Dodge Charger...I can get behind that redesign.

@Saint Paddy, the new Pony looks like the current gas powered ones except without a grill. I know I'm old fashioned but I want to hear that internal combustion engine screaming through a performance exhaust! I am certainly considering going electric in a couple years when prices come down some.

My first set of wheels was a 1969 Dodge Coronet Super Bee with a 383 Magnum engine putting out 335 HP. The old racers always said their is no substitute for cubic inches. That thing had guts galore! I bought it in 1973 as an 18 year old after making a ton of money that summer in a fishing weir. My father was not happy. I survived it and never had an accident for the year and a half I owned it before selling it and returning to community college. Great memories of those times.

  46. So I am back! A week away in (mostly) La Belle Province was as good as attending a relative's funeral can get. Catching up with old family members and friends was nice and I watched a Habs game in Montreal from Score in Laval somewhere - Had me some excellent Poutine with Montreal Smoked Meat and a few Molson Exports. Very nice. Left tranna in a blinding snowstorm too. That was a fun drive across the 401 in my rented Dodge Durango SRT - what a beauty piece of kit that is! Slowly getting back into the routines over here...I hate November in the UK - shitty cold and wet.
