  1. Well, I was going to do an Emperors new clothes parody (54-40's Casual Viewin') but then Geoff made a decision. A good one.

First off, thanks to DGMB for his 10 years of work. Up and down but his heart was in it from day 1 to yesterday. Thanks Timmins too.

Welcome to the Montreal Canadiens Mr. Gorton. Bonne CHance.

    1. Good read here from one of the few in the hockey media with professional integrity.

    2. It is a good read. I think the timing of Ducharme's eventual firing (before or after a new GM is named) will tell us all we need to know about who calls the shots.

And I am afraid Ducharme's already proven he needs to be sent off in the sunset ASAP beford he ruins things any worse with the roster.

First, I would like to say that Marc Bergevin was a welcome change, replacing the awful Pierre Gauthier who thought he answered to no one. Where I think it went wrong for Bergevin was the unexpected playoff run in 2014. It gave him the false sense he had a contender on his hands with Price in net. He never followed through with his stated intentions of 'building through the draft'. Instead, he pulled the trigger on a massive trade to get Shea Weber and then tinkered around the edges with all his bargain basement shopping. He went all in in 2021 with his team in the Covid Canadian division an opportunity to get to the final 4 and he almost pulled it off. Alas, the 2021 Draft miscue, along with losing his two cornerstones did him in. It was time for a reset, let's hope Jeff Gorton can pull it off.

  2. Interesting times. Seravelli was so smart to get out of that cesspool of Toronto.

Talk about a new structure with VP Gorton actually pulling the strings while the new person learns on the job. I love this. What about hiring the first female GM in NHL history? moe had thrown some names out about getting women into management a few months back. How about Danièle Sauvageau? I think she was on his list. And the names being bandied about have no experience, like Luongo or Briere (not sure what he's been up to), so why not a woman? Maybe recent HHOF inductee Kim St Pierre? And the first job of the new GM, man or woman, may be to rescind the first round pick from 2021.

What if … this is a creative workaround to pacify a fan base and market that demands a Francophone GM?

I've often questioned this 'urban myth' about the Francophone GM. Other than the separatist extremists like Raymond and Tremblay does the average Quebec citizen really give a rat's ass who is making trades or drafting the new kids? The coach I get, he talks to the media pretty much daily. The GM maybe 4 times a year? I can't recall if Pollock was bilingual, he was just smart. I think Serge Savard began the French component of the job (Grundman doesn't count) followed by Houle then Gainey and so on. I would like someone who speaks 'hockey', it's a universal language apparently.

  14. BBQ showed up in Montreal today, so I bet Gorton wants his input on things. I coukd see Claude Julien being brought back if his ego allows it. After all, the guy who fired him less than a year ago just got fired himself. And he's still undr contract. Not really GM material though.

Please, no more recycled Francophone coaches. Enough of those old fossils. Besides, julien has committed to Hockey Canada for the Spengler Cup.

    2. Ahh but he has an out clause should a NHL job open up for him!

      Not happening and I agree...unless it's Carbonneau...😎

    3. It just seemed nice and tidy I guess. But for me Carbo too.

  15. I hate Galley so much. Pointing out where Habs should be penalized and going on and on about the refs being right for not calling a penalty on the Canucks.

  16. It was 12-1 shots for Canucks. Then...
13-12 shots for Habs (a 12-0 run). Now...
    26-14 Canucks (a 13-2 run)...

How can they play so differently like this every 10 minutes?

Good news is it should be swinging back to the Habs. Right?!

  17. I'm sorry but this team needs an NHL coach to develop NHL players. I'd forgotten but Dom Ducharme has zero NHL playing experience. Whatever CJv2's issues, I always thought it was good he had a Cup ring (as coach). Kirk too.

  18. That was the kind of tank we need, repeat for 360 games and we will be CHampions.
I like the nice touches like continually passing the puck to the point in our own end.

All of Montreal's recent coaches seem to have the same mindset regarding young players. Punish not teach. I think it goes all the way back to Lemaire. Must be a doctrine or something.

But yeah, like Steve said don't win too much just a game here or there. Can't jeopardize that lottery pick. Still, Dom should get the boot, can't coach worth a tinker's darn.

  20. Even though he's 70 years old, there needs to be a place in the organization for Larry Robinson.

In verifying Big Bird's age, I came across an unknown fact to myself, that Larry has a brother Moe. I think somebody's parents were fans of a certain comedy trio...

AND...Moe played 1 NHL game, 6 shifts for #Habs on Dec. 15, 1979 in a 6-2 loss to the Jets

    2. Love the Marx Bros. They were geniuses at their craft. Three stooges were generally a little too dumb, even for me who likes dumb comedy.

  21. So Pat Roy has thrown his hat in the ring. Not sure he checks the "Plays well with others" box that would be required to co-manage with Gorton, but it would be hella interesting to have him in place. He could be GM/Coach for the rest of the year. Do it!

    1. St Pat knows he is not getting the job. What he wants to do is have the interview, and then tell the French press the job is for a puppet and I cut all my strings long ago.

  22. Be interesting to see if Burke could handle that too.

  23. We are going to get a young Marc Bergiven as GM. No experience but nice biceps. Daniel Biere ding ding ding, Molsen with a Beire ding ding ding

  24. If I can be introspective on this its kind of glass shattering. I never realized just how bad the era was because of the DGMG reality distortion field. He was some kind of genius and give him his due, we can within 3 wins of the Cup. That was DBMB.

I think it's going to be Darche. Gorton can continue to train him in GMing while he handles the press. Remember when chokula put Darche on the PP all the time? Used to drive us crazy.

Speaking of the PP why is douche bag refusing to put CC out there? Guess he is in on the tank. Send CC back to Laval so he can score some fucking goals. Gorton can't get here fast enough to dump that turd of a coach.

    1. With all the talent on this team, it takes a special coaCH to manage the tank.

    2. No doubt some buffoons woukd but tha majority wouldn't bat an eye. But Richards is likely not a candidate for GM himself. Still a little green as I understand it.

    3. McLame has a real crush on Brad Richards. I don't know what that means if he were to become GM, but it would be awkwardly interesting and yet horrible to watch him juggle his leafiness with the fact his crush is in charge of the Habs.

And if Brad gets the job, he needs to drop the 's' off the end of his name and 'sh' the 'ch' sound and he's gold. Brad Richard (Rishard).
