I don't get the Laval games but have been enjoying the Junior games. Xhekaj, Mysak and Hamilton v Windsor. It was beautiful to start, only had the rink and crowd sound. No play by play. Great way to watch a game, reminds me of sometime in the early OTs when Radio Canada was on strike and the ired the games that way. It should be an option to somehow turn off play by play and colour and just listen to the blades carving the ice and the rumblings of the crowd.
Big thanks to Shea Weber, a great hockey player who gave his all. I was devastated that PFK was traded but came to accept it in time. What Montreal ultimately gains from this is $2.86mil in cap space which Hughes desperately needed because LTIR does not count in the off season. Plus, I think you can only have a few players on LTIR at one time and we know Price is headed there eventually. So, look for one of Drouin, Hoff or Dadonov, or possibly two of them to be moved at the Draft. This is just the start. And Dish is probably out the door soon as well.
Hughes dumped the BBQ but is still cooking with gas. Lots more to come it seems.
Like the M, I wasn't a fan of trading PK though I liked the potential that Weber brought. It seemed to take him a long time to accept.the trade, then had some great moments and helped get us oh so close last year, apparently on one leg. Thanks for the service. I could see him behind a bench someday.
He did his duty honourably, but I feel like he never really loved being here. I would bet LA (or anywhere else Bergy may eventually land) would be his next stop if coaching is next.
PFK was something special but in retrospect it was special like fleeting and not supported by a body of work over a decade. BBQ brought this rag tag group to the stanley cup finals and let them win one game against a vastly superior team. What the UTES learned about pain from the BBQ will be passed down like the flame without opioids'.
PFK was certainly a polarizing figure. eMpTy kept trying to make him a better person, he fought with SuperPleXXX a couple times in practice and didn't get along with Max. I get that maybe they had to move him but I always thought they should have traded him for a #1 center they desperately needed back then. But, Biceps Bergy was in love with Shea and I'm sure Nashville, loaded with D didn't want to pay out that contract for that length of time. Funny how things switch around over time, the Habs are about to have Two #1 centers in the fold and nada #1 or 2 defencemen for the upcoming season once Dish is traded.
Reading the tea leaves for said upcoming season, it seems the Habs will be bottom feeders for the next couple seasons as the Dynamic Duo rebuild this sucker. I'm OK with it as long as they stick to the plan and don't veer from their lane like Bargain Bin did.
The thing that for me was that within minutes of the BBQ-PFK trade, Taylor Hall went to NJ for Adam Larsson. Always wondered if there could have been a PK-Hall deal potential. But like you say, Beefy loved the big man.
Pump and dump. The peach tree dish, Devo, KidA/Lep, Jake the Snake and the new Dandy. Must have for next year first or second overall draft pick. Okay second we all know Boston is getting the first.
Lehab here... I just got an amazing early Father's Day present. Back story...Dec 5 1995 My son is 5 years old and I tell him we are no longer cheering for the Habs. We are now Colorado fans because our favourite player has been traded. I lasted until sometime in January '96 and of course came back to my beloved Habs. My son never turned back and has been a diehard Avs fan ever since. Yesterday, he booked flights to Denver and bought tickets for us to game 5 in Denver. Crazy! Then he says "Dad..my best memory in life so far has been when you took me to see Patrick Roy's retirement and jersey hoisted to the rafters in Montreal. So why not go see the Avs win in 5 in Denver!" Unreal
Spent the morning in the garden. Watching a couple of Canadians play near the top of their leaderboards in their respective tournaments this afternoon. Go Adam! Go Brooke! And as always, Go Habs!
Hadwin couldn't get it done, but I'm glad Matt Fitzpatrick won. It's always good when the Americans can't win their own tournament. I hope to see a Canadian win the Canadian Open some day. I was OK with Rory winning it.
The Sea Dogs and Bulldogs open the Memorial Cup tonight. I'm playing golf again today so I would be too tired to go tonight, even if tickets are available. I'll watch on TV and check out Habs prospects My Sack and Jack Off. SWIDT?
I have no doubt your game went better than my first round in Friday. I'd blame my sore leg, but that would be a cop out. I still duff about one shot per hole. One day maybe I'll get some lessons and get into the 90s on a regular basis.
The Sea Dogs shit the bed in the Q playoffs but they showed up tonight. 4-1 Saint John after 2. Bringing in Gardiner Macdougall to coach was a great move.
moe called it some time ago, douchebag narcos wins the Hart trophy. I call tranna media bullshit, ain't no way that turd of a player is valuable, can't get his team out of the 1st round.

Thank you CHester for stating the truth. The ONLY reason that the Montreal media didn't like Weber is he basically didn't want to answer their stupid questions. Absolutely, Shea gave his all, players like Byron and Gallagher have pointed it out, seeing what he had to go through just to get ready every game. I refused to read any of that bullshit. Once I saw the headlines I kept going.
So, with all the latest language restrictions (basically outlawing English) how many UFAs are the Canadiens management going to be able to attract to Montreal now? Very few I suspect. I find it ironic that French Quebecers scream "protect our culture" at all costs, but will trample anybody else's in a heart beat. It's the same down here in New Brunswick with the Acadien Society. They hate the anglos and would get rid of us entirely if they could. Apparently we have no culture worth protecting.
Bill 96 was pushed through with closure and most French media blithely skipped over the more odious parts so few French Quebecers really understand how stupid it is and only think it's designed to save Québec's French culture from disappearing off the face of the earth because Péladeau's Québecor media empire insists it's impossible to find someone in Montreal who can serve them a coffee and muffin in French. A cynical, disgusting shell game to gin up language tensions and build out xenophobia towards separatism, ultimately.
@SiM, I don't want to turn this into a political thing so one final comment. Bilingualism has been pushed here in NB for over 50 years. I have lived here for 45 of them. The only result that I can see has been to further divide the anglos and francos. If government had left things alone we would be fine. In my native Nova Scotia, the francophones (my maternal grandmother was Acadian) adopted the premise of 'we protect our own culture', we don't need the government to do it for us. The way things are going here, I may move back there.
We all gave him a hard time as a leaf (rightfully so too), but I was very happy to see Kadri score the OT winner, assisted by Leko of course. Hell anytime an ex-leaf has success it's a good day...hell of a lot better than watching a couple of stud d-men drafted by our organization winning back to back cups with another team.

Congrats to Luke Skywalker ... errr ... Richardson, the new head coach of the Chicago BlackHawks. I wonder if MSL will try to get the deposed Andrew Brunette to come in as an assistant?
Ya Wish Luke the best in the Windy City Just try not to get shot I would love to see Larry come in and coach the D if not in charge some kind of assistant Just the respect he would bring would be worth it I just don’t want to see any more x Tampa people I think we got that covered Sad to see all of our retired talent somewhere else That’s something we should fix Wonder what Vodkov is doing His”Da” was all he needed to say Go Habs
Great game between Hamilton and Edmonton, Guhle's junior career is finished, on to Laval ... I think he needs some AHL time. X-Man and the Bulldogs are off to the semi-final game Monday. If the Sea Dogs beat Shawinigan tomorrow, they go directly to the Final, otherwise it will be a Dog fight on Monday! I was going to buy two tickets for tomorrow's game but $200 was too rich for me. I'll watch the game from home and drink my own beer.
Can't wait for Shane Wright to pull on that Habs jersey in less than two weeks!
I would not assume I have any special knowlege. Peirre Luc Dubois nick John Luc. will sign with Montreal in 2024 thus having 3 first line centers. Other teams have one. Plan the parade.
Hey Steve, no thanks to Jean-Luc, the Habs will have 2 first line centers after they draft Wright. They will be picking the Russian sniper Michkov in 2023. Book it. Besides, I would rather wait for Huberdeau, a LW UFA in 2023.
Wow, Sea Dogs down 3 zip after the 1st period. I sure am glad I didn't spring for 200 bucks to watch this shitshow. I'm watching on RDS because, believe it or not, it's blacked out in the Saint John region.
I don't know what Coach MacDougall said to the guys in the first intermission but, wow, did they come out of the gate flying. Now 4-3 Saint John with a natural hat trick by Islanders prospect William Dufour and a solo from Jeremie Poirier, a Flames pick. Fingers crossed the home team can hang on.
Some ex-scouts seem to have made it their mission to destroy Shane Wright and advocate for the Habs to select someone else 1st overall. Who in their right mind would pick a left winger over a #1 center? No wonder these clowns are unemployed.
@SiM, I would take a pass on CHariot of Eggs, the NHL is transitioning away from bargainbin's vision of big, tough stay at home defencemen. Take a look at the D of the two teams playing in this years Finals. I know the Four Horsemen on the Habs last year were good but a lot of the credit should go to Carey Price for that performance.
Tampa gets the babyfood shortage tonite, they lost so many essential nutiernts and it a unspoken part of the NHL culture that the injured eat baby food to speed recovery. It is rumoured they will mix breast milk with bear,
So happy for Leko So under appreciated here Bounced around the lineup Not so prolific during the regular season but a stone cold killer in the playoffs I watched it but didn’t see him hoist the cup He plays the game the way it should be played Go Habs
Congrats to Leko, the Cup GWG, not too shabby. He scored 18 in his rookie season and I think many fans had unreasonable expectations going forward. It's unfortunate that because of the cap situation Hughes had no choice but to trade him. He's going to get big bucks going forward, good for him.
The season is over and in less than two weeks it's the start of a new era for Habs fans. Go Habs!
I tuned in by accident to Overdrive just in time to hear Jeff O'Neill emphatically state that Mitch Marner is a LOCK for the HHOF, says he's willing to bet $10M dollars on it. Holy fuck this giy...I quickly turned it off but I assume it's HHOF announcement season?
Any day that begins with a legitimate request for the leaf brain trust to kiss ass is gotta be a good day. Congrats to Leko, and if you want Leko on roids get Army. These guys are warriors, they dont play when it dont pay. Lots of rumoure we are going to trade powehorse for the number 2 pick, do it do it do it all draft day long. I expect if they do, do it, they will take a D man left sidel
We will never win with Kadri. Ooh, lets sign John Tavares for $11mil a year and win multiple Cups with Jonny Tranna and the m 'n' ms. Kadri: "You can all kiss my ass."
Hamilton/Shawinigan going to OT, winner plays the Sea Dogs in the last big hockey game of the year this Wednesday at TD Harbour Station in Saint John N.B.
Going to be a short off season, the 2022 World Junior Championships are in early August in Edmonton. I'm thinking future Hab Shane Wright should be on that team.
So hey! Couple of us mused about Larry comin to coach/help one D And poof Two articles in the gazoo about that He would be interested if the job was right Not the assistant coach but a consultant kinda sorta sans travel I would pounce on that Course sadly I’m not in charge As Mrs CHester would testify….. Anyway he had nice things to say about Marty Go Habs
Where do we sign? Do we need 29 to do up the paperwork! Loooonng overdue but it would be priceless having his experience in the organization. I have a feeling there are no egos the size of MBs biceps like himself had. So there's a chance...fingers crossed.
That was me obviously. I don't know a lot about history of the Memorial Cup but Saint John, a relatively new franchise, around for 17 years has now won this tournament twice. That's pretty special.
TSN likes to push the narrative that the QMJHL is an inferior league but that's 3 in a row for the Q. Saint John was the best team in this tournament. William Dufour will be the next Quebecois player the franco media will be drooling over. 7 goals in this tournament.
No way your dont pick wright and nick RR for right right. However the Jura Slavolsyki is a home run hit on a questionable pitch. Trade to NJ Jake the Snake, Powerhorse and Dish in some kind of deal. If and when we win the cup none of those players we traded will be playing anywhere.
Love it!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Go Rocket!
Kinda forgot but I have watched most of the Laval games.

ReplyDeleteBBQ has been dealt. Flummoxed about his stay in Montreal but still a great hockey player. Merci Shea.

I watched it but didn’t see him hoist the cup
He plays the game the way it should be played
Go Habs
Congrats to Leko on winning the Cup.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Leko, the Cup GWG, not too shabby. He scored 18 in his rookie season and I think many fans had unreasonable expectations going forward. It's unfortunate that because of the cap situation Hughes had no choice but to trade him. He's going to get big bucks going forward, good for him.
ReplyDeleteThe season is over and in less than two weeks it's the start of a new era for Habs fans.
Go Habs!
Congrats to Leko and the Avs. Fun team to watch.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Kadri for leaving a shithole team to make a difference on a Cup winner. Major kudos for telling all leafools and the SFU to kiss his ass.
ReplyDeleteVery happy for him. And the SFU will line up to kiss his ass just to get close to the cup.
DeleteI tuned in by accident to Overdrive just in time to hear Jeff O'Neill emphatically state that Mitch Marner is a LOCK for the HHOF, says he's willing to bet $10M dollars on it. Holy fuck this giy...I quickly turned it off but I assume it's HHOF announcement season?
ReplyDeleteGood ol' Jeff, he makes no bones about the fact he is a leafool. Bet he's got Toronto Maple Leafs tattooed on his ass!
DeleteAny day that begins with a legitimate request for the leaf brain trust to kiss ass is gotta be a good day.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Leko, and if you want Leko on roids get Army. These guys are warriors, they dont play when it dont pay. Lots of rumoure we are going to trade powehorse for the number 2 pick, do it do it do it all draft day long. I expect if they do, do it, they will take a D man left sidel
Post on Twitter .... Ooooh, please do it...
ReplyDeleteDear
@43_Kadri,
If you’d like to do a cup parade in Toronto I could probably round up a few #Habs fans to come with.
We wouldn’t be sad if you brought @arainumos along.
So much karma to haunt leafools.
ReplyDeleteWe will never win with Kadri. Ooh, lets sign John Tavares for $11mil a year and win multiple Cups with Jonny Tranna and the m 'n' ms.
Lehkonen ain't even worth a second round pick.
Nathan MacKinnon: Lehkonen is worth 10 first round picks.
SFU: Adam Larsson straight up for Taylor Hall is a joke. Joke's on you SFU.
SFU: Kyle Dubas is a genius.
Joe Sakic: "Hold my beer..."
We will never win with Kadri. Ooh, lets sign John Tavares for $11mil a year and win multiple Cups with Jonny Tranna and the m 'n' ms.
DeleteKadri: "You can all kiss my ass."
Hamilton/Shawinigan going to OT, winner plays the Sea Dogs in the last big hockey game of the year this Wednesday at TD Harbour Station in Saint John N.B.
ReplyDeleteGoing to be a short off season, the 2022 World Junior Championships are in early August in Edmonton. I'm thinking future Hab Shane Wright should be on that team.
Habs prospect Jan Mysak gets the winner for Hamilton. Gonna be a Dog fight this Wednesday.
ReplyDeletemy sack
DeleteSo hey!
ReplyDeleteCouple of us mused about Larry comin to coach/help one D
And poof
Two articles in the gazoo about that
He would be interested if the job was right
Not the assistant coach but a consultant kinda sorta sans travel
I would pounce on that
Course sadly I’m not in charge
As Mrs CHester would testify…..
Anyway he had nice things to say about Marty
Go Habs
As a consultant, it'd be good to bring Big Bird home. His coaching experience would be a great resource for MSL.
DeleteSign him up ASAP and take his advice on getting the bench D coach. Apart from Larry, I've always liked Eric Desjardins.
DeleteWhere do we sign? Do we need 29 to do up the paperwork! Loooonng overdue but it would be priceless having his experience in the organization. I have a feeling there are no egos the size of MBs biceps like himself had. So there's a chance...fingers crossed.
DeleteBig Bird as a consultant yes, as Luke Richardson no. Vodkov yes
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the M's Dogs! Memorial Cup Champs. Very convincing win.
ReplyDeleteNow hurry up and get us to draft day!
The Sea Dogs have produced a hell of a lot of glory in both the NHL and the Q
DeleteSo proud of the Saint John Sea Dogs. They played hard all tournament, Gardiner Macdougall is a miracle worker!
ReplyDeleteThat was me obviously. I don't know a lot about history of the Memorial Cup but Saint John, a relatively new franchise, around for 17 years has now won this tournament twice. That's pretty special.
ReplyDeleteTSN likes to push the narrative that the QMJHL is an inferior league but that's 3 in a row for the Q. Saint John was the best team in this tournament. William Dufour will be the next Quebecois player the franco media will be drooling over. 7 goals in this tournament.
ReplyDeleteLarry said it
ReplyDeleteYou can score a lot of goals but defense wins championships
Larry knows
Go Habs
Habs getting Larry on board would be a strong positive sign that things really are changing for the better.
ReplyDeleteNo way your dont pick wright and nick RR for right right. However the Jura Slavolsyki is a home run hit on a questionable pitch. Trade to NJ Jake the Snake, Powerhorse and Dish in some kind of deal.
ReplyDeleteIf and when we win the cup none of those players we traded will be playing anywhere.
I'll be glad when the Draft is over. I'm so tired of all this Slafsky bullshit. Hughes is taking Wright end of story.
