Lots and lots of trade rumours out there, some plausible, some not. HuGo has said he doesn't want to load the team up with rookies again, Demigod being the exception. Sounds like Beck, Logan and Bach will be plying their trade in Laval again unless something changes. Please Sid, reconsider...
I don't know how accurate it is but at the Scouting combine Dubas said he would like the Pensburghs to get younger. I think he would (or will) trade Malkin, Letang and Karlsson, with Rakell and Rust available for the right price. I'm pretty sure Dubas will be tanking hard the next two years for a crack at McKenna and Dupont. Doesn't make any sense for Sid to be a part of that.
Never an Olivia fan but Terri HatCHer is another superperson. I am worried about the finals. It seems the bigfoot of the NHL is against us again. They not only bite the hands that feed them, they kick them in the balls just to make sure we got the message. It aint changed since the Ricard Riots. Remember you had to get Kane and Towes to win the cup, now you got to get the gritty veterans. Al I know is our team is the shuttle and the Panthers and Oilers are the Enterprise.
The Habs are the Defiant, a smaller but deadly weapons loaded ship of war, whereas the USS Enterprise(s) were ships for exploration. But yeah, the NHL will fuck the Canadian teams every time, just another aspect of Felon47's trade war.
I don't know if Florida is the better team but they definitely have the better goaltending. Skinner is a crap goalie. Put TFS on the Oilers and Florida would be gone in 4.
The rumour mill surrounding the Habs is SFU level stupid. I maintain not a soul in that organization leaks anything. So all these names we hear are actually just dudes (mostly) with a platform, and they're throwing shit at the wall.
Well, we have our own platform so I say Sid is reconsidering but would only take a move to Montréal. There. Done.
Good for him. This is Trump's test scenario for establishing a fully authoritarian regime. The state and the people can't back down, no matter what. No matter how many troops he sends. And Wyatt is right. Surely at least close to half of the military are non-MAGA personnel and haven't drank the kool-aid. How do you justify your actions to yourself, other than 'just following orders' when those orders come from a madman?
Whoever the guy is, he is right. Bernie Sanders has said it's just another step in felon47's power grab. I've been saying for a few years a civil war is inevitable in the U.S.
As much as I detest most traditional media, the one Habs guy I can get behind is Marco D'Amico. He also says some things regarding potential trades or moves that I don't agree with, but he is very knowledgeable and backs up his views with concrete stats and insight.
If I had hiring power at SN I would offer Marco the Colour job for Habs games in a heartbeat and kick Gawley to the curb faster than grease through a goose.
Congrats to our first of potentially two consecutive Calder winners.
Turns out only 2 of 15 SN and 1 of 6 TSN staff voted him 2nd. One of them is the SN Calgary guy that gave it to Wolf. Iain MacIntyre...I think he's a west coast guy that also voted for Wolf. And the TSN Calgary guy also voted Wolf. That tells you how dominant he was, that even the SFU had to vote for him.

Sorry, I have to disagree about the '71 Habs team, they had Beliveau, Mahovlich, Lemaire, Journeyed and the Pocket Rocket up front along with youngsters Tardif and Houle. On D the great J.C. Tremblay, Jacques Laperriere and their ace in the whole Ken Dryden. That team beat the Orr/Esposito Broonz powerhouse and the Hull/Mikita Blackhawks. That '71 Cup might have been the upset of the 20th century.
Sounds like a great/ book movie along the lines of the idea explored in fiction, particularly in the "Axis of Time" series by John Birmingham. The 71 Canadians transported to the future to save the NHL from Buttman. Who makes the team? Nature, Demigod, Fast Lane Hudson and maybe Slafzilla.
Man the Overdrive guys are really butthurt that some Minnesota writer gave Suzuki a first place vote for the Hart. He got more votes than L'il Mitchy and Narcos got none. I wonder if that has something to do with their bitterness?
Well there sure is enough shit hitting enough fans in the past 48 hours. Huge turnouts at #NoKings protests across yhe USA, USMC arresting Californians, IDF apparently trying to obliterate every Arab within a 1000-km radius (and Starmer stupidly bolstering UK forces in the region), assassination of MN State House Rep. Melissa Hortman, R.I.P.
I am the history major and also the guy who failed math. Paretoes law squares the circle. Do your own thinking but my thinking is we are fucked like fucked Russian under Yelsen. Maybe we will get to the level of the Walking Dead, where Rick can rule over whats left of the worle
When I was 14 my Dad gave me a ELAN skidoo for Chistmas. This was during the 1960's and it did everything with me in control and I can not image there is a machine like that still in existance. What I am saying is maybe we should have just stopped right there. Like a Star Trek civilization that was smart enough to predict the future.
If you get a chance, watch the new horror sci-fi series Revival, filmed right here in Saint John, N.B.
I would occasionally see them set up at various locations around the city, one set was a nearby Catholic church I've attended. It will be interesting to see if I can recognize the interior.
I stole this list of players the leaf are signing July 1 Bennett Ehlers Duchene Boeser Kane Marchand Provorov Brock Boeser Mikael Granlund Dante Fabbro Patrick Kane Ryan Donato Dmitry Orlov Jonathan Drouin Jamie Benn Claude Giroux Jonathan Toews
I broke down and tuned into 'the greatest series of all time' and it was a big fucking dud. Not just because of the outcome, I didn't see the amazing play I keep reading about. FLA plays good, hard hockey but this game didn't live up to the hype I've been reading. And credit where due...the Ratface trade was a great move by them.
Happy FHFather's Day to all you's Dads. I've been gone a long time so have lost some of the the lingo (unless I'm drinking) but I still read and hear "you's" being used as a plural for a group. Kind of the Miramichi version of y'all I guess. Usually as in "How are you's doing?"
The fight starts and in the bar are south and north and they hate each other going back gernerations. They ask me to pick a side and I say look man look man I am no gorrillaI Iran and Russia are not going to win any good housekipping medal for a long time. However the bullshit from our side makes me think they are right. Who is attacking who and for what reason, and property in this era has no boundrary/ Its all biz why are people dying for a real estate deal. Call Scooby Do
Thanks for the Happy Father's Day wishes and right back at you. We all met up for breakfast this morning then me and the boys went to Rockwood Golf course and played 18. It was tough conditions today with a gale of wind in our faces most of the time, still, great fun!
I've only watched one game which happened to be Game 4 which was a doozy. Last night, meh, the Oilers weren't moving their feet so they deserved to lose. 37 year old Ratface was better than McD or Drai, he is on Florida's 3rd line so he is getting favourable matchups. McD is not doing much so advantage Panthers. I think Fla. finishes it off tomorrow night and rightly so they are the better team overall.
Pass on Toews, JJ Peterka, sure I'd be OK with that and I saw a rumour that Alex Tuch might be a target as well to reunite with his bro Luke. I'm still holding out hope for Sid.
Also, I was impressed with steve's list of players that the leaf will sign. They must have special permission to have double the cap space as everyone else. Or, maybe they will all play for free because they are all in love with tranna and just want to be there.
I would hope management only get players to play in their natural positions. Not try to force a winger to play center or their off wing. So for that reason, with Caufield and Demidov at RW, I would say no to JJ or Alex Tuch. I'm pretty sure Luke may never see NHL ice. Maybe he'll make it as a 4th line guy. I think it's more likely he goes to Buffalo in a trade to reunite with his brother. Rossi is also a no for me. Too small. We have enough players of similar stature. Sid is still my #1 dream too if Kent can make it work without giving away TOO much for 2 years of "the Kid" (not Gary Carter). If I'm thinking offer sheet, if he isn't signed by them, I'm possibly looking at Morgan Geekie with the Bruins. There are some red flags. He is on his third team already at 26 years old. But his offence started to pick up. Some players take longer to adjust. I think the B's sign him though.
I didn't look too much at positions, I just figure Hughes and Marty can make things work. Some amateur site had Florian Xhekaj, Luke Tuch and Tyler Thorpe as a possible future Habs 4th line, a bruising checking line that could score a few goals. All speculation of course. As for Sid, it will be up to him if he wants to stick around Pitt for another 2 years of losing and they are going to be losing big time. Dubas wants a shot at McKenna, it will be a stealth tank.
Congrats to Jurai Slafkovsky on being named one of the top 6 for the Slovak Olympic team.
We all know Hockey Canada sucks ass, so I'll be surprised if Suzuki makes the team. Maybe he'll be there as the 'extra forward'.
Caufield and Hutson? The Americans might dismiss them as well due to their size. To their detriment.
I guess we'll see how the first few months of the season go. In the end, we saw how much that break benefited the team in the push to the playoffs. So if they get a rest instead, so be it.
Well, Mark Carney just lost me. If it's true that he told felon 47 that the world needs U.S. leadership and his personal leadership that's just bending the knee. Shame on the PM.
Yeah I thought it sounded a bit too much like sucking up, but like moe says he's being diplomatic knowing that the orange clown needs his ego stroked. That is all it is. He is a simple man. He said he is a tariff guy because they are simple to understand (which is ironic). Carney is smart enough to know that Canada does need a trading relationship with America and he's taking one for the team by fluffing the felon's ego. He will need a long, hot shower tonight to get rid of the ick.
Starting to think of the Oil as the Edmonton Bills So close time and again yet no cigar However looking at the moves the cats made in hind site they were timely intelligent and effective Up to and including the rat Bet the flameouts would like some guys back Anyway On to the draft, the summer of Hugo and the rise of The Glorious Habs Go Habs
If Corey Perry is playing another year, get him signed! But then sit him for the final. He's been to the final 5 of the past 6 years and lost every time. He'll get you to, but not through.
If anything, FLA teaches us that teams need depth and rounded out players right through the lineup. And a really good goalie. Having a superstar or two without the supporting cast is worthless. Habs are on the right track in that sense, I'm still not sold on the goaltending being good enough. Happy to be wrong...and maybe it's Fowler in 2027? He should spend the year as #1 in Laval so we can see how he might turn out as a pro.
I was thinking the same thing. Depth is so important. Paying 2 (or 4) superstar players doesn't get it done. I'm sure Kent tells all his players the same thing during negotiations. I don't think Monty is good enough to win a Cup, whether Jacob or Jakub is remains to be seen. I think all the Panthers leaders are around 30ish, that's the timeline we are looking at.
I looked up the ages of the players on PuckPedia, all of the core are around 29 years old, the exceptions being Bob at 36 and Rat at 37. So, once Nick and the gang are in the 28 - 30 range the Habs should be contending.
And like steve said, shouldn't the leaf get some kind of trophy for taking Florida to 7 games? The sfu will no doubt be bragging about that over the next few day.
Nine days until the draft, let the trade speculation begin.
I see plenty of leaf commentors saying this already. And how THAT series was the true final. I can't tell if they are mocking or truly idiots. Probably the latter in most cases. They should realize the breaking up of their "Poor 4" is the best thing that could happen to their team...but many won't. Until they sign that amazing list of players of course.
Announce the Calder already !

The 71 Habs are where my lifelong journey as a Habs fan began. The name I don't recognise is Bill Collins...
DeleteMe too, I grew up in a Leaf world but the 71 hABS, WAS my word saying why
DeleteMan the Overdrive guys are really butthurt that some Minnesota writer gave Suzuki a first place vote for the Hart.
ReplyDeleteHe got more votes than L'il Mitchy and Narcos got none.
ReplyDeleteI am the history major and also the guy who failed math. Paretoes law squares the circle. Do your own thinking but my thinking is we are fucked like fucked Russian under Yelsen. Maybe we will get to the level of the Walking Dead, where Rick can rule over whats left of the worle
DeleteSteve, today you remind me of Graeme Decarie, may he rest in peace.
DeleteWhen I was 14 my Dad gave me a ELAN skidoo for Chistmas. This was during the 1960's and it did everything with me in control and I can not image there is a machine like that still in existance.
ReplyDeleteWhat I am saying is maybe we should have just stopped right there. Like a Star Trek civilization that was smart enough to predict the future.
If you get a chance, watch the new horror sci-fi series Revival, filmed right here in Saint John, N.B.
ReplyDeleteI would occasionally see them set up at various locations around the city, one set was a nearby Catholic church I've attended. It will be interesting to see if I can recognize the interior.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Pablo Rodrguez, the new leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, and hopefully the one to send Legault out to pasture in 2026.
ReplyDeleteBring it on !
DeleteI stole this list of players the leaf are signing July 1
ReplyDeleteBennett
Ehlers
Duchene
Boeser
Kane
Marchand
Provorov
Brock Boeser
Mikael Granlund
Dante Fabbro
Patrick Kane
Ryan Donato
Dmitry Orlov
Jonathan Drouin
Jamie Benn
Claude Giroux
Jonathan Toews
I broke down and tuned into 'the greatest series of all time' and it was a big fucking dud. Not just because of the outcome, I didn't see the amazing play I keep reading about. FLA plays good, hard hockey but this game didn't live up to the hype I've been reading.
ReplyDeleteAnd credit where due...the Ratface trade was a great move by them.
Its your fault you jinxed it. Last game was a beauty for the ages.
DeleteHappy FHFather's Day to all you's Dads.
ReplyDeleteI've been gone a long time so have lost some of the the lingo (unless I'm drinking) but I still read and hear "you's" being used as a plural for a group. Kind of the Miramichi version of y'all I guess. Usually as in "How are you's doing?"
So I hope you's have a good day.
A great day to all fellow pops.

Pop 5 cents mom not for sale
DeleteJ’aime Jonathan Toews
ReplyDeleteThe fight starts and in the bar are south and north and they hate each other going back gernerations.
ReplyDeleteThey ask me to pick a side and I say look man look man I am no gorrillaI
Iran and Russia are not going to win any good housekipping medal for a long time.
However the bullshit from our side makes me think they are right. Who is attacking who and for what reason, and property in this era has no boundrary/ Its all biz why are people dying for a real estate deal. Call Scooby Do
Is JJ Peterka in HuGo’s sights ?
ReplyDeleteCould be dynomite !

Thanks for the Happy Father's Day wishes and right back at you. We all met up for breakfast this morning then me and the boys went to Rockwood Golf course and played 18. It was tough conditions today with a gale of wind in our faces most of the time, still, great fun!
ReplyDeleteI've only watched one game which happened to be Game 4 which was a doozy.
ReplyDeleteHoping for the Englishman or the Scotsman to win the U.S. Open.
ReplyDeleteOr the Norwegian...
DeleteLooks like it was as tough a course as they were saying with only one player finishing under par.
DeleteAll that rain plus that rough ... I couldn't hit a ball out of that.
DeleteSam Burns and Tyrell Hatton were livid the last couple of holes.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more likely he goes to Buffalo in a trade to reunite with his brother.
DeleteSome amateur site had Florian Xhekaj, Luke Tuch and Tyler Thorpe as a possible future Habs 4th line, a bruising checking line that could score a few goals.
ReplyDeleteWe all know Hockey Canada sucks ass, so I'll be surprised if Suzuki makes the team.
ReplyDeleteTrump will stab Carney in the back at the first opportunity. You can't trust that asshole or his corrupt administration.
DeleteNot worried about Carney. He’s being diplomatic.
ReplyDeleteWrong choice of words.
DeleteI meant Carney, not you bro.
DeleteYeah I thought it sounded a bit too much like sucking up, but like moe says he's being diplomatic knowing that the orange clown needs his ego stroked. That is all it is. He is a simple man. He said he is a tariff guy because they are simple to understand (which is ironic).
ReplyDeleteCarney is smart enough to know that Canada does need a trading relationship with America and he's taking one for the team by fluffing the felon's ego. He will need a long, hot shower tonight to get rid of the ick.
Come Oil...ger 'er done!
ReplyDeleteNot looking so.
DeleteLooks like the Habs will once again remain the last Canadian team to win it.
And they just might be the next. A 2027 retirement gift for me.
Montreal will be the next Canadian team to win the Cup.
DeleteWith McD helping in 2027, just in time for your retirement.
Skinner is a bum.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look good for the oil
DeleteGo Habs
Congrats to the Panthers, I guess. Sure is s smartly run franchise.
ReplyDeleteStarting to think of the Oil as the Edmonton Bills
DeleteSo close time and again yet no cigar
However looking at the moves the cats made in hind site they were timely intelligent and effective
Up to and including the rat
Bet the flameouts would like some guys back
Anyway
On to the draft, the summer of Hugo and the rise of The Glorious Habs
Go Habs
Once again the leaf almost won the cup.
ReplyDeleteIf Corey Perry is playing another year, get him signed! But then sit him for the final.
ReplyDeleteHe's been to the final 5 of the past 6 years and lost every time.
GYMFHG!
I was thinking the same thing. Depth is so important. Paying 2 (or 4) superstar players doesn't get it done. I'm sure Kent tells all his players the same thing during negotiations.
DeleteI don't think Monty is good enough to win a Cup, whether Jacob or Jakub is remains to be seen.
ReplyDeleteAnd like steve said, shouldn't the leaf get some kind of trophy for taking Florida to 7 games?
ReplyDeleteThe sfu will no doubt be bragging about that over the next few day.
Nine days until the draft, let the trade speculation begin.
I see plenty of leaf commentors saying this already. And how THAT series was the true final. I can't tell if they are mocking or truly idiots. Probably the latter in most cases.
DeleteThey should realize the breaking up of their "Poor 4" is the best thing that could happen to their team...but many won't. Until they sign that amazing list of players of course.
Well done to the Cats...McD joins TFS as a great player never to win the Cup...cause he won't be back for a sniff unless he gets traded
