  2. Okay, I'm not optimistic about tonight's game, I predict Sammy will give up 4 at least.
How many the Habs will score I can't say.
I just want them to play good defence, which means Rock should dial back the forays up the ice, in other words, pick your spots better.
    Forwards, help out the D.

    2. Emotions will be high. Expect Lep to lead the team out of their rut tonight. He's always got a little more agsinst da Broons and I just have a feeling he'll have a monster game tonight. 5-4 Habs in regulation. PP will go 2 for 3 and they'll kill 3 of 4. SoG will be 32 to 28 in Broons' favour. Broons will win 60+% of the face-offs. Struble will win a fight. Anderson will have a goal taken away for goaltender interference in the third while the game is tied. Kapanen will score two and Graf will score on a net-crashing play in the second period. A puck will sail into the Habs' bench early in the game, hitting MSL in the moustache and taking some whiskers with it, but he'll be otherwise fine. That will end the moustache curse and set all of the above into motion.

Or none of that will happen.

I have to say – thank God. It’s been too long. Toronto doesn’t feel right when the Leafs are good. Like the city doesn’t know its purpose any more.

So RIP to the good Leafs (April, 2017 – October, 2025). They weren’t much fun, but they proved that all of us still have a childlike capacity to kid ourselves.

Welcome back to the bad Leafs (November, 2025 – present). We packed up all your hairshirts and put them in the basement. I’ll bet they still fit.

  68. Before last night, no team in the Atlantic had a + goal differential. TB was +4 last night to get to +3.
Wings and broons are even. The rest are in the red.
In comparison, the Metro have 5 teams in the positive. Only CBS is in the red.
The Atlantic is wide open, but I think the teams in the Metro have a distinct advantage. If the Habs intend to compete this year, they need size and more scoring through the lineup. And goaltending.

I did like Slaf on the 2nd line last game. Being the elder statesman on the line, it's almost like he has renewed purpose or something. Played very well. I hope he sticks there for a while.

Sorry to say, I think we have to remove the Iron Kaiden moniker. Maybe we call him Rusty instead.

The stats leader board isn't as sexy anymore. Suzuki is just hanging onto a tie for 8th in assists. Doobie is gone from the top 10 in GAA and Save%.
Hutson is hanging in there in 5th in both points and assists.
Demi is still in 2nd for rookies and HappyKappy is 4th and tied for goals.
He's tied with that Schaefer kid from NYI, who is also first in points. I've seen him play - he is the clear cut Calder leader without question. The kid is just 18 and a d-man. Boy the Isles truly won the lottery with him - what did they move up 9 or 10 spots to get that first overall pick?

Hopefully the fellas can figure a way out of their funk.

  69. October was a great month for the Habs, it may also have been an illusion. My hope is if they can play close to .500 until the Olympics, maybe they can go on a run again post Olympics. Similar to last year.
But, they will need some veteran help to replace players like GI Finn and DVo. Too many youngsters at this point and too many injuries obviously.

    Agree
We need to put the wagons in a circle and hang on till things smooth out.
Those October points will be important come spring.
I'm sure Hugo is on active mode looking to shore up whats left of us
I feel the hot start put too much pressure on our younglings and with our vets gone we got a little shakey.
Time for Marty to step in and refocus the boys but Hugo needs to address the Dach/Gouls situation. We can't have injury prone people in key spots and they are injury prone and they are in key spots.
