A short version with respect to Montreal’s Leonard Cohen
Give me back my hockey night
My man cave room, my secret life
I’m not lonely here
There's goalies left to torture
Give me Demidov control
Over every living soul
And play beside me, Lane
That's an order
Give me crack and Ana sex
Take the only glee that's left
Stuff it up the sfu hole
In mclame’s sick fuck culture
Give me back the Big 3 wall
Give me Whiskey and his goal
I've seen the future, brother
It is powerplay moidah
Things are going to slide, slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
Has crossed the threshold and it has overturned the order of the soul
(un-parodied verse, because Cohen)
When they said descent descent
I wonder what they meant
When they said dumpster diving is spent
I wonder what they meant
When HuGo said time is well spent
I knew exactly what the fuck theymeant
Give me back the Dryden wall
Give me Roy even Théodore
Give me Plante
Or give me Vézina
Destroy another leafool now
We don't like mediots anyhow
I've seen the future, baby
It is HuGo moidah
Things are going to slide, slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
Has crossed the threshold and it has overturned the order of the soul
(un-parodied verse, because Leonard)
When they said descent descent
I wonder what they meant
When they said dumpster diving is spent
I wonder what they meant
When HuGo said time is well spent
I knew exactly what the fuck they meant

Great parody. The sisters of mercy are not departed or gone, they are in the head of leaf fools who forgot the goal song. Maybe we can trade Bull Duke for Kryu.
ReplyDeleteGo Als !
ReplyDeleteThe standings are very tight. Parity is the buttman dream.
ReplyDeleteThere are three teams that are ready to have their bones picked, Calgary, St. Louis and Nashville.
Let the sfu speculation begin.
Love the parody, moeman! Tonight the sore-footed ones will feel like they are skating in mud I fear. May the Als win and providd some inspiration. I wonder if Veleno sits. He was less than spectacular in the garden state.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with that song, I confess to not listening to Leonard Cohen in my youth but your lyrics ring true, so job well done.
ReplyDeleteI see CP30 was reclaimed by the BlowHards from the wretched leaf. Probably a good thing for him but I think he has reached his ceiling as an AHL goalie, he may want to try his luck overseas someday.
Hopefully the young Habs can find their legs tonight and tighten up on D.
Go Habs.
Go Als.
You simply must listen to Lenord Cohen. I could compare him to Dylan but Cohen is much more macro than Dylan who sang through his experience because it worked well for Woody Guthrie.
DeleteGo on You tube and watch:So long Mariane and Suzanne. Then one day you will be in the middle of the floor at noon playing Joan of Arc at full volume
Utes its always about the Utes because hope springs eteranl come from their hockey.
ReplyDeleteNow I can remember watching the 71 habs on a colour tv. I can remember all the rookies that should be good not being good. Now we have Fast Rock Lane, Demidieu who are both skateing somewhere close to the sixth astral plane. As an aside I been there and did not skate any better. We have at least two more superstars in the pipe. I say take that pipe and smoke it to the CUP.

Here's my three takeaways from tonight's 6-2 Montreal Canadiens' win over the Utah Mammoth brought to you by Snap Bar Sportif in Rigaud.
*remember all RTs and engagement helps ;)*
1 – Newhook delivers again
Alex Newhook is on a heater and playing his best hockey as a member of the Montreal Canadiens—maybe even the best stretch of his NHL career. His sixth goal of the season was an absolute beauty, and what stood out most was his awareness. Recognizing that forward JJ Peterka was the last man back, he made a slick move and turned him inside out. Newhook is using his speed effectively and has been a perfect complement to linemates Oliver Kapanen and Ivan Demidov. One of the big questions heading into the season was whether he could finish enough of his chances to justify playing with Demidov. Don’t look now, but he’s on pace for just under 30-goals.
2 – Arber Xhekaj has his most effective game
Sometimes less is more, and that was certainly the case for Arber Xhekaj against the Utah Mammoth. He didn’t spend long stretches pinned in his own zone like in some recent games. Instead, he looked composed, slowed the game down when needed, and started transition with smart first passes. He also landed a couple of bone-crunching hits, including a big one on Dmitri Simashev in the first period. It’s no surprise that Montreal leaned on him a bit more in this one—and it was well deserved. If Xhekaj can string together a few performances like this, the Canadiens will have a reliable bottom-pairing defenseman they can actually trust.
3 – Sam Montembeault’s game seems to be turning a corner
Sam Montembeault turned in one of his better performances of the season. The game got off to a bit of a rocky start—much like Tuesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers—as his rebound control was shaky on the first goal. But after that, he settled in nicely. Montreal needed some big saves, especially in the second period, and Montembeault delivered, particularly on the penalty kill. The Canadiens were outshot again, but their goalie looked calmer and more composed in his crease than in recent outings. Many fans have been calling for Martin St. Louis to “ride the hot hand.” We’ll see if they truly mean that, or if some just decided long ago that they don’t believe in Montembeault—because right now, he is the hot hand.
4- They held onto a lead!!! (Bonus takeaway)
Very much what I saw as well. I find they are relying less on Hutson lately (or opposing teams are focussing extra attention on squeezing him) so it's great to see the other D take the space and run. Spud seems to have found his rhythm, RoCH played a great game and for the first time in a while I wasn't missing Ghoul terribly. What a solid D unit!
DeleteNice to see Monty progressing. Equally nice to see them hold and extend a lead in the 3rd. Maturing like a fine Canadian whiskey (CC, in particular).
It was a great team effort. The MSL moustache was thr only casualty of yhe night.
After seeing the results of last night's games, I won't complain about Monty too much.
ReplyDeleteStolarz pulled.
Skinner pulled. Then the Oilers quit the rest of the night.
I wonder if McD is having second thoughts about his new deal?
Dach looking better every game.
Hook/Kap/Demi line a threat.
CC scoring from everywhere.
The refs are obviously targeting the Habs after they embarrassed them following the Oiler game fiasco. Screw them.
Funny as hell, gawley calling an obvious trip on Hook a 'toe pick' WTF is that? And when the leaf game finished maclame saying 'were going to the Edmonton game after the break' 'cause there's nothing to see here... Bwahahaha...
That "toe pick" ljne blew my mind. Ol' Gawley got confused and thought he was watching a nes Olympics demo sport, hockey on figure skates, cuz that made more sense to him than his lying eyes.
DeletePlur1bus is sublime
ReplyDeleteYep.
DeleteAnd that's the best line in S1E1
DeleteI like the idea of bringing up Jared Davidson to replace Veleno on the 4th line with 7Evans and Horse. I think he would be a buzz saw on the ice, a younger version of Lep. Do it Kent!
ReplyDeleteThe tsn panel searching for answers after last night's leaf loss ... Berube losing his mind behind the bench ... all good stuff. Keep up the good work pornstache and pajama boy, you are true leaders.
ReplyDeleteNY Giants fire HC Daboll, can't say I'm surprised.
ReplyDeleteThey've thrown at least 5 wins away because they couldn't defend to save their lives.
No excuse for that.
The King of Dumpster Divers, bargainbinbergy, is the GM for Canada's Spengler Cup team, should be quite the bunch of castoffs on that squad. Is Steve Ott still playing?
Who has the more FHFun goalie ‘controversy’ ?
ReplyDeleteThe Habs or the leaf ?
It's always more fun watching the leaf and consequently the SFU implode.
DeleteReally like Bruno Gervais, great analysis.
ReplyDelete… and PJStock has come into his own.
I forgot GI Finn plays for LA now.
ReplyDeleteAs well as CHommodore Perry, Danno and Joel Edmundson.
It's like Old Home week at the Phone Booth.
Bargainbin still likes his dumpster diving...
Heh, I came here to say the same thing.
DeleteA different meaning for Remembrance Day.
They have Armia on the top line with Kempe and Kopitar!
DeleteHabs need 5 to beat the Kings. Monty starts so let's hope it's enough. Just fucking win boys! GYFHG!
ReplyDeleteThe search for the mythical number 2c. maybe its the girl next door. And do we have a nick for her/him
ReplyDeletekaponen
Powerhorse!
ReplyDeleteHorse !
ReplyDeleteHorst!
ReplyDeleteRefs blind or biased ? Discuss.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to get in the way of Habs players and passes oddly often.
DeleteFast’s 100th game, 82nd point.
ReplyDeleteHas any CH playrr won s face-off yrt tonight?
ReplyDeleteOMG, Monty, wtf was that???
ReplyDeleteHe's just making sure the Olympic brass don't consider him. He's decided he'd prefer a vacation.
DeleteHabs looking very much like the youngest team in the league this period.
ReplyDeleteShoot the fucking puck.
ReplyDeleteGo broons.
ReplyDeleteNot scoring 5 on 3.
ReplyDeleteThe flub by Montohno.
Dobson missing the beauty setup by Suzuki.
Feels like it's not meant to be.
Armia schools Hutson. Of course.
ReplyDeleteShe’s wrote.
ReplyDeleteA demain.
Oui, bon soir.
Delete1-5. ooouf. c'est montembault?
ReplyDeleteGive the Kings all three stars. This was a classic November CH egg-laying by the Montreal CanadiHens.
ReplyDeleteSome bad luck/bounces. No excuses. Bad game by everyone.
ReplyDeleteAlso, more consternation in hogtown. Oink.
I had a funny feeling they were going to lay an egg playing a veteran team like L.A.
ReplyDeleteI only watched two periods and figured out the ending.
I fear the same thing will happen with Dallas, hopefully Marty will play Doobie, they might have a chance.
Wah Wah Wah
ReplyDeleteThat you auston?
DeleteAs I said, I only watched the first two periods.
ReplyDeleteWhat I noticed mostly was the Montreal players were out of sync on their passes. At times I thought they had white canes in their hand instead of hockey sticks, there were so many blind passes attempted.
L.A. cycled them down low and up high many times and the smaller Habs couldn't break it.
Monty let in his usual 55 footer and his predictable gaffe.
Might be time to end the Veleno experiment, he offers very little, doesn't play very good defence and has zero offensive instincts.
Former Habs GI Finn, JEd, CHomodore and Danno say: "Thanks boys, see you again in March!"
Flush that game, but lets hope it dont plug the toliet. Nature needs some nurture, it Nov give him a few games off to be 100% . On the backend we have young dexter and old guy we got off waviers.
ReplyDeleteWell that one goes down the pooper
ReplyDeleteSam is not the man right now
Kudos to Marty et all to help
Him but no bad stop enough
Suivant
Onward The Glorious Habs go
Yes thank you
Go rest Sam
NEXT!
Go Habs
What to do with the floundering leaf
ReplyDeleteFloundering
Like a flopping fish
Ok we had a bad game but we are not floundering
Who in their right mind would want to play for that team
Underpants is down the injury train is happening
There's the very real possibility that they won't win the division.....
Blow jays lost
What a time to live in the armpit
Ha
Go Habs
R.I.P. Larry Brooks, New York Post columnist for the Rangers and for many years Coach Torts nemesis.
ReplyDeleteI used to read his column occasionally before fire walls. He was very good.
I read Brooks and Torts reconciled and the coach checked in on him recently before Larry passed from cancer.
I will be surprised if the Habs can beat Dallas. They better bring their 'A' game tonight.
ReplyDeleteThey will. I smell a solid bounce back game. GYFHG
DeleteAnd if I'm wrong, it's 100% on Marty's moustache.
DeleteLove the sfu consternations in hogtown.
ReplyDeleteIt’s all why, why, why ?!
Too funny.
Shitty November so far, but at least the Leafs are self-immolating nicely.
DeleteI would trade Slafzilia for Tagger in a heartbeat. However that is never going to happen. Slafzilia is going to be a 30 goal scorer who dominates the ice.
ReplyDeleteSorry to see Danielle Sauvageau forced to share these accolades with that guy who isn't anywhere near her league of class.
ReplyDelete👍🏻
DeleteKapanen plays smart. I like that.
ReplyDeleteJoe VeleNO
ReplyDeleteThought they might make a line-up change after Tuesday. Need to shake things up a bit. It was a good first period though. DeSmith playing better than advertised.
DeleteEx Habs goalies always come back to haunt them, even if DeSmith never wore the sweater.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed Montreal is not getting any puck luck lately, it seems to happen for long stretches.
Dallas with 1 goal probably has enough to win. But that's just me.
Ouch! That didn't look good.
ReplyDeleteHigh ankle sprain at least.
DeleteFuck . TJ's leg went all wrong there
ReplyDeleteToo many passes.
ReplyDeleteShoot. The. Puck.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'll be switching to Pats-Jets.
ReplyDelete3-0. Yep.
DeleteIt's time for some anger from these Habs.
ReplyDeleteThey've looked pretty fragile lately...

ReplyDeleteNot fair.

DeleteMany mistakes, again.
ReplyDeleteYoung team.
Going pretty much like I thought so far.
ReplyDeleteCash it! You're so due. Make them pay FFS
ReplyDeleteOut-goaled but not outplayed.
ReplyDeleteCash it FFS !
Too many passes.
ReplyDeleteShe’s wrote.
ReplyDeleteIt's the stache. It's wrecked their mojo. Go back to the beard, Marty. Do it now.
DeleteNovembers can really suck. This one is right up there.
ReplyDeleteI think that's enough for tonight.
ReplyDeleteBon Soir.
I don't understand why our Sheriff didn't make them pay for what they did to TJ. Wimpy does not win in yhis league. There are times you release tge hounds or all you do is inbite getting rolled.
ReplyDeleteCall up Florian. This team needs an enema.
ReplyDeleteNew PLUR1BUS episode soon.
ReplyDeleteCan’t play a worse game.
ReplyDeleteOne win in the last 5 games, 0 goals on the last 10 or 11 PP. Time to turn it around against Boston Saturday.
ReplyDeleteFlorian and Beck please. Veleno can sit.
The good news is they're still atop their division based on fewer games played.
ReplyDeleteVeleno needs a trip to Laval. I don't know if Flojak is the right guy to add weight to the bottom six, but it's obvious they need somebody there.
If TJ is out long term (hope it's not as bad as it looked), who is his replacement? I'd like to see Davidson get a shot. Or anybody but Roy. I think he's out of chances.
The goaltending is what it is at this point. They have to figure it out. It's only one stinker by Doobie. I expect Sam gets the net tomorrow vs the Bs. We'll see how that goes, they won 7 in a row before last night. If they're still in a good spot at the deadline, are they happy to go to the playoffs with this tandem? at least we know Sam will be getting a rest during the Olympics. Not so sure about Doobie.
Oh yeah, and after last night, they are a -1 in goal differential. You don't see contenders in the red in that category.
DeleteOh yeah #2. When is Guhle back? Soon please.
DeleteBut...the Pats! Fuck yeah that young QB looks good. And I have the RB Henderson on my team, put up 30 points for me in a must win week (2 games out of a playoff spot with 5 weeks to go).
ReplyDeleteFairly quick turnaround for that franchise.
DeleteThe NY Giants have talented players, they just need somebody who can coach them. There is a scathing rebuke of Brian Daboll on tsn's NFL site.
Ok WTF
ReplyDeleteI go away for one night and this happens
Was it as bad as the score?
This is two baddies in a row
How do the wheels fall off collectively?
We better get our shit together for the beaners cause getting stomped by them is worse than death
Go Habs
I look at this stretch like a stock market correction, it was bound to happen.
ReplyDeleteThe other teams watch video, they can figure out how to counteract the Habs speed, Dallas and LA did.
I'm not sure Flojak is ready, for sure I would give Davidson a shot but he's not going to turn things around.
To my eye, they still need a good skilled veteran forward to play behind Nature's line, doesn't matter if it's a C or not. I'll bet HuGo are working the phones.
Apart from the power play (too many passes), they aren't clicking as a team the last few games. Too many individual (although some nice) plays that lead to nothing. They are transitioning zones like they use to and opponents are clogging up centre ice.
ReplyDeleteAlso, fack da broons !
~moe
Canadiens’ Newhook out four months with ankle injury; Guhle sidelined 8-10 weeks with torn muscle
ReplyDeleteJared Davidson called up, needs a nick.
DeleteJD or Harley?
DeleteJarley
DeleteJa
DeleteI'm glad the coaching staff saw fit to being up JD for a chance to make the big team. I'm also glad to see the (hopefully) end of the Crybaby Josh experiment, that guy has little to no desire to play a hard game. Davidson has fought every step of the way to get to this level beginning as an ungrateful junior in Seattle to being an over-age (20 year old) Habs pick back in 2022. He probably won't score a lot of goals but he should give the team a jolt of energy they sorely need.
ReplyDeleteStupid facking auto correct ... should be 'undrafted' not ungrateful...
DeleteThat's why I don't use spellcheck; my (frequemt) typos are all my own.
DeleteSiM has typos ? Who knew !?
DeleteHas anyone watched Oppenhiemer. I have not. However I image that at some point in the movie his team took devestaing losses. Let Re group. Okay we need some mystics to clear the air around the bell center. Dach, Wool, Ghost and now Cpt Hook have fallen due to bad spells. WTF do you do with Ghost, cant stay healty, same goes for Dach and Wool and now Cpt Hook gets tripped by a 300 lb peter pan and its back to neverland.
ReplyDeleteAt least we have a farm to cultivate, but Jesus Mary and Joseph.
IronKaiden has been missed. TJ is a big loss. Time to figure things out without them in the lineup.
ReplyDeleteSucks for TJ. Glad to see they took my advice on JD.
ReplyDeleteShitty Guhle news.
I think this batch of bad news has Kent pulling the trigger on something sooner than later.
Also, not sure if we care, but is Wool expected back soon?
IronKaiden has been missed but our D has depth our forward group does not
ReplyDeleteHook will be missed and his absence will be felt
Glad to see Harley getting the call for the beaners cry baby Josh would have been the wrong call up
I think our fast start put everybody's head in the wrong spot
We are not a division leading team yet
Let's get our heads screwed back on refocus and get back to work
We can see how quickly the wheels fall off when we lose focus
It's a knife edge
Fuck the beaners
Go Habs
