    1. I was never a gretzky fan.
I always ranked him as the 2nd best player of all time after Orr. It turns out they are both drumph lovers.
Fack them both, the greatest player of all time now is Sid, the kid from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.
Wayne the traitor is not a Canadian any more. Neither is Bobby. They gave up their citizenhips a long, long time ago. Murica can have them. And good riddance.

I am not going to be that maflact cat that said the past was better than the future. Reason number on that is right is if you are in the past your dead. This year is not a huge year. Work hard recogize there is always some kind of tank firing upon your hopes and dreams of making the playoffs. I would say a playoffs for a team that does hockey like hockey is supposed to be. So dont trade no papers for another guy who looks so good like the green grass so you see driving around, even in the winter.

Doobie giving up very few, if any, rebounds. He's just killing plays constantly.

  11. Not the most exciting period of hockey I've ever stayed up past midnight to watch...

  26. Credit where due. The refs knew they fucked up and evened it out.

I remember a game where Markov was penalized and he told them he didn't touch the guy, it showed on the screen and they actually cancelled the penalty. I was shocked. Hadn't seen that happen before or since.

  27. Habs winning a 2nd period this year...they only seem to do vs this team. Too bad, they could have had a couple more goals though.

  32. Not to nitpick the guys who are mostly playing pretty well. But the one play that has bugged me most so far was about 4 minutes into the 2nd. The puck was coming down the boards into the corner in the Habs' zone. Narcos was hot behind it. Dobson was coming in at an angle. Matthews played the puck. Dobson was a second later and turned rather than hitting Underpants. That really bothered me. You gotta punish the other guys every chance you get.
    Don't be sof.

No, never! He will fight along the ramparts! Or Remparts, if in Québec. He has no fear.

  57. Sunday mornings always feel better after a Habs win over the LeafNet darlings.
I'm sure mclame and BizJizz consoled each other after.... (Ugh)
Auston does seem disinterested after a decade of failure in hogtown, he seems like someone who is more interested in collecting a very large pay check doing something he is good at but not actually trying to accomplish something. He misses his bud li'l mitchie, wouldn't be the least surprised Auston ends up there as well.
I finally saw the shootout goals this morning, wicked shot by CC top shelf baby. Trickery and deceit by Tex, almost Forsberg like.
Bull Duke still needs some tuning by MSL.
Lep still has a little something in the tank, he's still somewhat effective if he plays with 7Evans and Horse but his goal scoring days are pretty much done. I would guess he will retire after next season, the last year of his contract.

  60. I just finished the final episode of S2 of inside the rebuild.
Of note, what stood out the most to me was they only showed Slaf's exit interview, talking about how he has to be mentally ready in October and Hughes says to him " did you see how Tom Wilson took over that series?", hinting that Slaf needs more of that in his game. Slaf of course, in front of his bosses and cameras agreed he needs to be more like that.
Slaf will unlikely ever be Tom Wilson, but boy is he starting to get it. That short stint being 'the guy' on line 2 I think gave him the shot of confidence he needed to get to the next level. Hope he keeps on chugging. This team is fun to watch again.

He just sent me a picture from a bar in Sussex, NB of Chris Nilan. They are there for a minor league fund raising event.
I told him it must be a sign that he should switch allegiances to the Habs. Don't think he's buying it.

  73. Disappointing to throw away 2 points there for the taking.
Defensive breakdowns cost them, the first goal was a bad bounce (for Montreal) right to an open Blues player. The other three were all on the D who were puck watching or chasing. Like dogs chasing cars. I really like that analogy -- thanks steve!
Michael Hage is on the Team Canada junior roster, I hope he makes it. It will give me more motivation to watch.

    1. Yeah, and I don't know about the other teams. I think LJ Mooney was the only invite to USA. Another small forward...not exactly what the Habs will need in a few years unless they bulk up throughout the lineup.
I don't think he's had a great season, and I doubt he'll ever make the NHL, but Saku's boy will probably play for the Finns? I don't think we have any decent Swedes in the pipeline...not sure about the other countries.
