It has not gone unnoticed that Team Canada has zero representation from La Belle Province. Monty was the only one to make the 4-Nations tourney last year. I don't hope for any injuries (except perhaps Ratface), but if a d-man sub is required, Maths could fit the bill (or Dobson). As it stands, Rad-Can can only get a French interview from Julien Brisebois at the upcoming Olympics. Voyons-donc !
Team Canada is basically a Tampon Bay Dolts team with a few additions from the Hockey Canada old boys club. Not interested. Nick will be like PK was in Sochi, a 13th forward or a healthy scratch.

Total load of shit...all of it...

It's almost a year since the trump administration launched it's trade war against Canada. Since then, things have been in turmoil in various industries across our great land. People have lost their jobs and businesses are taking hits as the US basically closes it's borders. I predict trump will walk away from CUSMA. Tariffs will be a way of life for at least 3 more years. The Prime Minister is doing his best to move us away from our dependency on the US. Our country will take its lumps but we will survive. And eventually thrive. I believe this. Not meant to be today. Had the puck around the Blues net,.with no luck. Lep with a couple of posts. Sometimes it goes like that, best it's against a Western Conf team.
This is pretty much what I saw today as well, great observation :
When will Marty figure out dump n chase is no bueno against the neutral zone trap?
That pinching and over-extending gets you caught.
The other team is playing boring hockey and hoping you lose patience first.
Don't.
Skate the puck through the neutral zone and blue line with speed. If it doesn't work, bring the puck back, and play a boring game until you do, or they fuck up.
Our team is way too skilled not to be capitalizing and forcing errors from the Blues.
You just need to score a goal, maybe two.
Eventually, they have no choice but to push to score, and that's when you counter them.
When Julien is behind any team's bench -- even as an assistant -- this is what to expect. I didn't even know he was in St. Louis but when I saw his face it all made sense the way the Blues were playing. Trap, Trap and more trap. How many years did we watch that in Montreal? Many.
I wonder if Gavin McKenna will balk at going to Winnipeg this October? Or Vancouver? Could he be the next Eric Lindros? He left Medicine Hat to go to Pennsylvania. Dubas and Chevaldayoff do have a history of trading 1st rounders. Hmmmmmmm......
Mudryk is dumb. Slo-mo of the goal clearly shows the puck hit Gallagher and alter direction at about a 45° angle into the net and he says "it's Gallagher's for now, doesn't look like the puck changed direction."
I decided to sit this one out ... spent the day putting all the Christmas crap away and other chores. The youngest son came by for a visit and we had the younger grandson over as well. I did tune in briefly to see how the Giants were doing, that was a pleasant surprise and I didn't really care how it affects the draft pick. They have their QB and some young weapons (if they can get healthy) in Nabers and Skattabo. Always enjoyable to beat Jerry's overrated team.
I watched the hi-lites, man, what a beauty snipe by Rock Fast Lane. It is nuts how Guerin won't take this kid with them. He would thrive on the wide open spaces of Olympic sized ice, even if it is a couple feet shorter. Oh well, it's his loss.
Before the game I would have been happy to get the tie, getting the win was gravy. What a great road trip for this up and coming squad. Can't wait to get some of the injured players back soon and hopefully Sid by the deadline. I won't give up on that dream!
I haven't looked at the SFU sites, are they still fellating Nachos after his glorious ascent to the top of leafy history?
What a wild finish. Missed extra point giving the Ravens a chance for the last second win...and a waaaay wide right field goal miss. Congratulations. Houston has a great D but they are beatable.
Too bad about Canada. I didn't watch much of the Juniors this year or the past few for that matter (other than the Halifax one).
Kudos to Monty on picking up his game after allowing his softie. Made some huge saves, including the breakaway in OT. Slafkovsky, it seems, has arrived. He'll turn 22 at the end of March. He is in year 1 of his 8 year contract. That final scene on season 2 of the rebuild with him talking to management about being better is looking brilliant. So...have we found our #2C in Kapanen? To me, he has the potential to be the new TurtlePlek, potentially with more offensive upside. So maybe he is the perfect #3 in the long run?
I tried to watch the finish of the Team Canada game too late for me. WTF is with these late starts anyway? Minnesota must be in the Central time zone. Anyway, thought I recorded it but didn't set it for long enough. Oh well, another tough loss. Michael Hage is a star in the making. He should be the #2 C after Sid retires and Kapanen will be a solid #3.
Congrats to moe and Saint Pad on their football teams making the playoffs... *sigh* ... maybe someday for me.
That was quite a road trip for the Montreal Canadiens. 4-1-2, they are becoming a force to be reckoned with. Hopefully Monty has found his game. Nick, CC, Slaf, Demi, Hut, all stars in the making, maybe the SFU will even recognize them someday. But, I doubt it.
As usual on NFL Black Monday, lots of coaches are available to hire. Joe Schoen should be taking a long look at the guy just fired in Cleveland. Or Atlanta. OK back to hockey. Ghoulie might be back Wednesday against the Flames. Maybe DaCH too?
Why is Brenda Kelly allowed to write about The Glorious Habs? The man's an idiot, plain and simple. He should be limited to writing about womans dresses or perhaps an in depth series about moisturizing... day or night ... discuss. Heard an interview by that bicycle freak on CBC morning show with him where they both agreed that BBQ was a horrible captain cause he didn't like to talk to the press. Hardly said anything they lamented. Yet he continues to write "articles" about The Habs Asshole Go Habs
Holy fuck I couldn't get thru the article I didn't think that you could write so much meaningless trash backed up by irrelevant stats But Then again it is the leaf and he is a leaf blower What are these SFUs going to do when the days get darker, when the curtain falls on the greatest team in living memory When an insolent spoiled yankee gets surly and takes his lip squirrel and goes back to murica What the fuck are these slobbering mindless bucket mouths going to do then? They'll have to dig up the national embarrassment and wind him up What a sad sad place to be a hockey player Eeesh Go Glorious Habs
I doubt they’ll dig up ol’ don, not the USA psycho but I wouldn’t put it past mclame to prop Coach Clutch up in times of leafailure (newly coined word).
The sfu will once again collapse into their fetal position and write volumes of leaflore for the blue and white mASSes. The great fourscore. (Man, I need to parody Abraham Lincoln, cuz these are the times).
Well the fish rots from the head down That's all you need to know That and that ass tap and over the red line bump oops oh jeze louise were we spose to shake hands Darn missed that shoot oops well we'll shake hands tomorrow Well kiddies what goes around comes around and seeing our tough triumphant ass patting leader crying is some kind of justice on us At least take it like a man ffs If this tournament is important to us treat it that way and put some people in charge with some leadership skills and oh ya some integrity Go Glorious Habs
Well good for Devo. I see he signed a 5 year deal with Philthy at about $5M per. He just didn't pan out here - with so much young talent here already and more potentially coming soon, he had to move on.
I think if the team had been a little further along in *The Rebuild* Kent probably would have re-signed DVo. He was a good 3rd line C and had great chemistry with Horse and Lep. But, Kent knew he had kids coming that needed to play. Like the late Red Fisher used to say : "It's not personal, it's business."
I always appreciate moe posting those archive stories from the various leaf rags. Many of the authors are leaf blowers but conversely, it seems many of the francophone writers are Habs haters at times. Is it because the team is owned by anglos and run by them now? Seems weird to me.
That first story ... as soon as I saw the headline and the words 'auston matthews' I bailed.
The second, CHester has it right. Hockey Canada is still an Old Boys club and they will always favour CHL players over NCAA players. How else to explain how Michael Hage was not a top 3 player? Because the coaches pick them and Hunter being the alpha male will control that process. I would have been interested to hear Gardiner MacDougall's (a Maritimer and former university coach) choices. Hunter did not instill any discipline in his players, too much run and gun is what I saw. Funny though, the team last year lacked high end skill and players like Misa and Parekh were left off that team. It showed. Like Bruce Arthur stated they need to find a balance. Personally I would like to see MacDougall get a chance to coach the 2027 team.
Just went on the toronto sports network and checked the standings and they have the snores last and the leaf next to last even tho the snores have more regulation wins. Strange eh? Go Glorious Habs
I am going to keep making the pole dancer argument. Trade Hage now. Whatever his is not going to happen in our Window. Our Window is the birthday of Nature, when he hits thirty the window is barely open.
Speaking of leaf blowers, wasn't it that Traikos guy that claimed that Morgan was a better defenceman than Bobby Orr, hence ORReilly? And whatever happened to McSplooge's new Big 4 way back in the day? Wasn't that Schenn, Kaberle, Phaneuf and Komisarek? LOL!
The fun/funny thing about the sfu is that they’ve been suckling at the dried up hnic/mclame teet for decades. Malnutrition should not to be laughed at, yeah fuck dat.
I don't even consider it Hockey Night in Canada anymore ... that died many years ago when Danny and Dick retired. Now it's just hockey on Saturday night on leafnet. Pure garbage.
That whole Morgan/Orr thing, I think Traikos even dia a matthews was better than gretzky comparison during some fabled leaf run in October. The whole notion was a farcical leafool fantasy. Does that guy still even have a job?
This is incredible and it's hard to believe it was this bad. This is after Bargainbin was fired in November, just after Gorton was hired a few weeks later and before Kent Hughes was brought in Feb. They must have had a ton of injuries. No wonder they finished dead last that season 2021-22.
Holy Moley! How did they even win a game with that team?
It's wild how only 4 years later they've managed to turn things around this much. Good drafting does wonders for a team. No way Nick Bobrov and Marty Lapointe would have taken Kid KoHo 3rd overall when he was picked. It would have been Kachook or Quinn Hughes.
I looked at the roster, they had a ton of injuries that season. I believe they set a record for most man games lost. They were missing: The Hoff DVo Horse Leko Army Toffoli among many others. The D as well, Petry, Edmundson, Wideman It was truly awful now that I think back, DoHarm coached them to a 8-30-7 record. They had to bring in the Hamburglar to rescue them, he won 5 in a row at one point. Those were the dark days of the Tank.
The Hamburglar actually went 3-0, Price, Allen, Primeau, Monty all played games, they must have all been injured at one time or another. I remember Kent Hughes did an interview, must have been after they traded Hammond to NJ, he said "We owe Andrew Hammond a debt of gratitude for what he did for us." Pure class.
I watched some of Hughes press conference yesterday. One thing he said : "We have more talent on the way." And they are already loaded. I watched a bit of the leaf game last night and what they are is what you see. There is nothing coming. Zip. Zilch. Nothing in the system. When they finally crash and burn it's going to be monumental. *Rubs hands gleefully*
I see ratface was 'injured' playing the leaf last night. Imagine that, he might not be available to face the consequences for his dirty hit on Math vs the Habs tomorrow...
Going for gold with Nature.

ReplyDeleteOr Vancouver?
Could he be the next Eric Lindros?
He left Medicine Hat to go to Pennsylvania.
Dubas and Chevaldayoff do have a history of trading 1st rounders.
Hmmmmmmm......
Dano!!! Been waiting four yesrs to type ghat again.
ReplyDeleteOh well, Lep!
Deleteit's Dallas so magic bullet. Makes sense
Lep!
ReplyDeleteMudryk is dumb. Slo-mo of the goal clearly shows the puck hit Gallagher and alter direction at about a 45° angle into the net and he says "it's Gallagher's for now, doesn't look like the puck changed direction."
ReplyDeleteFucking Monty...that's just poor...
ReplyDeleteThat's his guaranteed softy. Hopefully the only one.
DeleteHappenin'!
ReplyDeleteKappy!
ReplyDeleteKAPow!
ReplyDeleteThat'll leave a mark...
ReplyDeleteBlais grtting some WD-40 on yhat wrist. Good good
ReplyDeleteNow cash it!
ReplyDeleteGotta get the PP back on track.
ReplyDeleteIn Mr Burns's voice....Ehhxxccelllent.
DeleteLastSlaf!
ReplyDeleteSlaf !
ReplyDeleteSlaf!
ReplyDeleteGood 2nd period...
ReplyDeleteListening to Carbo between periods, it's clear he misses coaching.
ReplyDeleteHow's about dem Giants... : )
ReplyDeleteOh…
DeleteThat's been coming for the last 5 minutes
ReplyDeleteOh FFS...here we go again...
ReplyDeleteHuge point. On to OT
ReplyDeleteThey are so gassed.
Wow !
ReplyDeleteFast Lane!!!!
ReplyDeleteFast Lane!
ReplyDelete11 of 14 points in 7 road games in a row.
ReplyDelete10 of 14
Delete10 I think but still really great.
Delete1 L, 2 SOL
Wow! Lane Hutson, ma parole.
ReplyDeleteAnd Monty came up huge too. So good to see him back en forme.
ReplyDeleteBill Guerin must really hate the Habs.
ReplyDeleteFuck em...he's a cock!
DeleteThug player in his day ... that's his type.
DeleteThey are going to get steamrolled.
Pround Mary keeps on Rollin Rollin
ReplyDeleteProud Marty...
DeleteI decided to sit this one out ... spent the day putting all the Christmas crap away and other chores.
ReplyDeleteThe youngest son came by for a visit and we had the younger grandson over as well.
'ti Iginla!
ReplyDeleteFigures it would be a leaf wannabe on the ice for that goal against.
ReplyDeleteThese Czech kids are dirty fucks. Go Canada!
ReplyDeleteHage has a wicked shot.
ReplyDeleteSet up the tying goal.
DeleteParekh! Tied at 2
ReplyDeleteReschny! 3-3 tie
ReplyDeleteAnother Hage helper
DeleteGavin McKenna just cemented his status as the next Shane Wright with that bad penalty.
ReplyDeleteMartone! Tied 4-4 with a couple minutes left in the third.
ReplyDelete2nd time this game a Czech player slams a Canadian player into their goalie and the refs reward them with a goaltender interference penalty.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, three incredible games in one day. The Czechs played hard and have a shitload of talent.
ReplyDeleteSteelers !
ReplyDeleteWhat a wild finish. Missed extra point giving the Ravens a chance for the last second win...and a waaaay wide right field goal miss. Congratulations. Houston has a great D but they are beatable.
DeleteToo bad about Canada. I didn't watch much of the Juniors this year or the past few for that matter (other than the Halifax one).
ReplyDeleteKudos to Monty on picking up his game after allowing his softie.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to moe and Saint Pad on their football teams making the playoffs... *sigh* ... maybe someday for me.
That was quite a road trip for the Montreal Canadiens.
ReplyDelete4-1-2, they are becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Hopefully Monty has found his game.
Nick, CC, Slaf, Demi, Hut, all stars in the making, maybe the SFU will even recognize them someday.
But, I doubt it.
As usual on NFL Black Monday, lots of coaches are available to hire.
ReplyDeleteJoe Schoen should be taking a long look at the guy just fired in Cleveland. Or Atlanta.
OK back to hockey.
Ghoulie might be back Wednesday against the Flames. Maybe DaCH too?
Rest in peace Bob Pulford.

ReplyDeleteWhy is Brenda Kelly allowed to write about The Glorious Habs?
ReplyDeleteThe man's an idiot, plain and simple.
Yet he continues to write "articles" about The Habs
Asshole
Go Habs
There’s too many of the sfu to suggest one makes true hockey fans barf more than mirtle.
ReplyDeleteI’ve had it out with this putz back in his mop&pail days but he’s made a career of simultaneously soaking leaf cork whilst snowballing leafools.
https://archive.ph/SsqQo
Holy fuck
DeleteI couldn't get thru the article
I didn't think that you could write so much meaningless trash backed up by irrelevant stats
But
Then again it is the leaf and he is a leaf blower
What are these SFUs going to do when the days get darker, when the curtain falls on the greatest team in living memory
When an insolent spoiled yankee gets surly and takes his lip squirrel and goes back to murica
What the fuck are these slobbering mindless bucket mouths going to do then?
They'll have to dig up the national embarrassment and wind him up
What a sad sad place to be a hockey player
Eeesh
Go Glorious Habs
I doubt they’ll dig up ol’ don, not the USA psycho but I wouldn’t put it past mclame to prop Coach Clutch up in times of leafailure (newly coined word).
DeleteThe sfu will once again collapse into their fetal position and write volumes of leaflore for the blue and white mASSes. The great fourscore. (Man, I need to parody Abraham Lincoln, cuz these are the times).
Also, « lip squirrel « killed me.
Meant coach crotch.
DeleteNormally don’t mind Arthur. He might blow a leaf job but he isn’t the worst. That said, no mention of dale the clown 🤡
ReplyDeletehunter
Deletehttps://archive.ph/YxV66
Well the fish rots from the head down
DeleteThat's all you need to know
That and that ass tap and over the red line bump oops oh jeze louise were we spose to shake hands
Darn missed that shoot oops well we'll shake hands tomorrow
Well kiddies what goes around comes around and seeing our tough triumphant ass patting leader crying is some kind of justice on us
At least take it like a man ffs
If this tournament is important to us treat it that way and put some people in charge with some leadership skills and oh ya some integrity
Go Glorious Habs
Well good for Devo. I see he signed a 5 year deal with Philthy at about $5M per.
ReplyDeleteHe just didn't pan out here - with so much young talent here already and more potentially coming soon, he had to move on.
DeleteMy hit on Devo is that he was an elite player on an AHL team that played in the NHL. He was slow. No way no highway I am giving him 5 million per.
DeleteI always appreciate moe posting those archive stories from the various leaf rags. Many of the authors are leaf blowers but conversely, it seems many of the francophone writers are Habs haters at times. Is it because the team is owned by anglos and run by them now? Seems weird to me.
ReplyDeleteThat first story ... as soon as I saw the headline and the words 'auston matthews' I bailed.
Forgot, maybe show a little more respect to your opponent as well.
DeleteAny of those top 4 teams could have won the tournament.
The Habs-hating portion of the francophone media are mostly ex-Nordiques fans, employees or Quebec City media sweeps.
DeleteHabs' Hage made the tournament's all-star team.
DeleteKid might need a nickname soon.
More sfu cork soaking...
ReplyDeletehttps://archive.ph/8qw74
Hilarious the lengths they go to to polish their blue and white turd of a team.
Just went on the toronto sports network and checked the standings and they have the snores last and the leaf next to last even tho the snores have more regulation wins.
ReplyDeleteStrange eh?
Go Glorious Habs
I am going to keep making the pole dancer argument. Trade Hage now. Whatever his is not going to happen in our Window. Our Window is the birthday of Nature, when he hits thirty the window is barely open.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of leaf blowers, wasn't it that Traikos guy that claimed that Morgan was a better defenceman than Bobby Orr, hence ORReilly?
ReplyDeleteAnd whatever happened to McSplooge's new Big 4 way back in the day? Wasn't that Schenn, Kaberle, Phaneuf and Komisarek? LOL!
The fun/funny thing about the sfu is that they’ve been suckling at the dried up hnic/mclame teet for decades. Malnutrition should not to be laughed at, yeah fuck dat.
DeleteI don't even consider it Hockey Night in Canada anymore ... that died many years ago when Danny and Dick retired. Now it's just hockey on Saturday night on leafnet. Pure garbage.
DeleteThat whole Morgan/Orr thing, I think Traikos even dia a matthews was better than gretzky comparison during some fabled leaf run in October. The whole notion was a farcical leafool fantasy. Does that guy still even have a job?
DeleteMy point is the sfu grew up on hnic bias and are carrying the extinguished torch.
DeleteAgreed 100%.
Deletehnic was/is the foxnews of Canadian hockey coverage.
DeleteThis is incredible and it's hard to believe it was this bad.
ReplyDeleteThis is after Bargainbin was fired in November, just after Gorton was hired a few weeks later and before Kent Hughes was brought in Feb.
They must have had a ton of injuries.
No wonder they finished dead last that season 2021-22.
Habs lineup Dec. 30, 2021
Vejdemo - Suzuki - Gallagher
Harvey-Pinard - Poehling - Caufiled
Belzile - Evans - Ylonen
Pezzetta - Paquette - Baddock
Romanov - Savard
Kulak - Clague
Schueneman - Niku
Montembeault
McNiven
I don't even recognize 2/3 of the fourth line.
DeleteBarely recall having a vag on the 'first line'.
And 6 d-men who are no longer on the team.
It is a monumental turnaround.
As much as we hate him now, I was on the Brady train for that draft.
I looked at the roster, they had a ton of injuries that season. I believe they set a record for most man games lost. They were missing:
DeleteThe Hoff
DVo
Horse
Leko
Army
Toffoli
among many others. The D as well, Petry, Edmundson, Wideman
It was truly awful now that I think back, DoHarm coached them to a 8-30-7 record.
They had to bring in the Hamburglar to rescue them, he won 5 in a row at one point.
Those were the dark days of the Tank.
The Hamburglar actually went 3-0, Price, Allen, Primeau, Monty all played games, they must have all been injured at one time or another.
DeleteI remember Kent Hughes did an interview, must have been after they traded Hammond to NJ, he said "We owe Andrew Hammond a debt of gratitude for what he did for us." Pure class.
I watched some of Hughes press conference yesterday. One thing he said : "We have more talent on the way." And they are already loaded.
ReplyDeleteI watched a bit of the leaf game last night and what they are is what you see. There is nothing coming. Zip. Zilch. Nothing in the system. When they finally crash and burn it's going to be monumental.
*Rubs hands gleefully*
I see ratface was 'injured' playing the leaf last night.
ReplyDeleteImagine that, he might not be available to face the consequences for his dirty hit on Math vs the Habs tomorrow...
I hope it was a head shot.
DeleteTrap game tonight btw.
