He's from Moncton, went to Riverview High, same as Mrs Pad...five years later I think. Yes he is in Halifax now, he plays in the annual Crimestoppers Trivia contest we go to. His team always does very well, bunch of newspaper folks. We usually place top 5, won once many years ago.

I think Sid is very close to most Olympic points for a Canadian male. Only a couple behind Iginla.
I've watched a bit of the curling, I usually just have it on in the background. I remember once upon a time that a Canadian champion was almost an automatic win on the world stage. That's changed.
Congrats to Moncton, NB's Cortney Sarault on her 2nd medal, a silver. She's the daughter of former Hab (who I admittedly don't remember) Yves Sarault. He was a 3rd round pick in 91 and played a handful of games in the mid 90s
They showed the family on the local CTV news last week. I knew Sarault was a hockey player, I also forgot he was a Hab briefly. He mostly played minor pro and in Europe I believe.
Hey The M. I was up early watching Olympics and during a commercial I flicked to CTV and there used to be a show called Canada's Worst Driver and an old episode was on and it was Shirley from Cape Breton about to do her final road test, so I watched. The contestants wrecked the training car so they rented a '66 Mustang Convertible. I've never been so anxious watching somebody drive. I feared for the car, the host, the driver and everybody on the road. But mostly the car. Season finale of season 7 I think, if you can find it. It's worth a watch (spoiler: everybody survived, including the car).
My favourite bit: (host) "Shirley you have to be to the right of the double yellow line! Move over, this is a blind hill!" (Shirley) "I've never seen a double yellow line before."
I looked up Yves Sarault, he played a few games for the Habs. I would have seen him play for the Fredericton Canadiens and he must have been traded to Calgary because he played for the Saint John Flames. I kinda vaguely remember him now that I think of it but it was over 30 years ago.
R.i.p. Robert Duvall, one of the greatest screen actors of all time, and the true Commander for me (1990's movie version of The Handmaid's Tale). Huge in the Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Apostle among so many others.
Giant Giant my privildge to watch him instead of AI. Love the smell on Napalm in the moring. who loves it the most. I used to pump gas and get high, but I think the lead took a tool on me.
Chia comms strike again, you can make your own 4K movies just by thinking. I know the M would be close on in a movie where R was just walking around because the AI broke at that image.
I'm from the east coast of Canada and am proud when any Canadian from any province wins an Olympic medal. I feel sorry for any person who can't feel that way and puts their own personal politics ahead of patriotism. Screw guys like tremblay. That being said, I'm especially proud of Courtney Sarault from my adopted province of new Brunswick and Sid and Nate from my home province of Nova Scotia. I'll just ignore ratface. Go Canada Go!!
French goalie Julian Junca asked for Crosby’s stick in the handshake line following Sunday’s blowout, and he obliged because he’s Sidney freaking Crosby: “That’s part of hockey. You do that over the years, trade sticks and things, and it’s part of the experience.”
Wool injured again. Lower body this time. They don't even want #92 to practice before they trade him somewhere. I wish him well where ever he ends up (hopefully out west), he sure helped Les Boys dwon the stretch last season.
Guys like Marchand, Bennett and Wilson over Bedard. Defencemen Parayko, Anaheim, Doughty...Dobson or even Matheson were better options. Probably others too.
If they fuck this up, it again comes down to management of the team.
And fuck GoonAss, taking out Crosby with no retribution.
Cooper had Nature taking that key face-off in their own zone, which he lost. I don't think MSL uses him for that (not his strong point). You'd think they'd have someone better suited for that on a roster this deep.
Now the curling ladies playing vs Italy. Worth tuning in. The cameramen always linger a tad longer when they zoom in on the skip and 2nd for Italy...for some reason.
Quite the revelation about the 6 Czechs on the ice for the 3-2 goal. Crazy how the refs nor the announcers (nor most of us) noticed that in real time. I was feeling a little bad for the Czechs (except GoonAss), but now, fuck em all.
“I thought Nick got better as the game went on. He had to play a big role when Sid went out…You can tell he was just buzzing. He started feeling it…It was big time.”
“When the country needed a goal, Nick Suzuki answered,” Cooper told the Hockey News.
Article content Meanwhile, play-by-play announcer Chris Cuthbert credited the Suzuki goal to the “support players,” a phrase that will make Canadiens fans gag.
You could see Nick elevate his game when Sid went down. We (Habs fans) witnessed this last year when Nick carried Montreal to the playoffs. Nick Suzuki is a big time player. Despite what the haters in the SFU and leaf nation will tell you.
As a Habs fan, I’ve seen spectacular hockey. Lafleur, Roy, Robinson, Gainey to name a few at their on ice positions. I think Mario Lemieux is the best ever, at his position.
As older Habs fans, we have been fortunate to witness some great hockey games and players for the Montreal Canadiens. Mario had skill beyond belief, The Traitor had exceptional vision. McDavid can do everything at such high speed it's insane how good he is. I do hope he manages to win a Cup someday to cement his legacy.
Arpon's writing has come a long way. This was a great breakdown of the whole sequence, not just the goal.
Getting praise from Marchand feels 'yucky'...but I've actually softened on him because I know he's done a lot of great things for the community. I can be OK with him as a person and still hate him as ratface on the ice, right?
So no Sid for the semi-final. Nature centring 3rd line between Stone and Marner. Theodore sits. Imagine Dobson would be an upgrade over Parayko but regardless, these Finns can be beat. Go Canada Go!
Hey Cooper, you know who has the 3rd most PP points in the NHL after McDavid and Draisatl? Hint, he wears #10 for your team. But sure play a less than 100% ratface instead.
