Now check-ch-check-check-check-ch-check it out What-wha-what-what-what's it all about Work-wa-work-work-work-wa-work it out Let's turn this motherfucking party out
the Maritimer 9:44 AM FHFriend J.T. wrote a nice piece about Claude Lemieux at her blog Habsloyalist. Maybe Claude can reach down tonight and give his Habs a helping hand. Doobie has to pitch a no-hitter for them to have a chance. Keep'er going for another day guys!
As severely unlikely as it is, it would be more epic than the 10 OT wins in '93 if the Habs managed to come back and win this in 7 and then go on to beat Vegas (in another 7, what the hell?!)
They would have played a 7 game series vs a team that swept and had 12 days off, beat that team in 7, then play a team that won in 5 and had 8 days off, with the finals starting June 4 (Game 7 of this series would be June 2, so not even an extra day off).
Chances are 1 in a million (though Betnet won't give you those odds), but it'd be a hell of a story.
We all know friends and family that struggled to the point of taking their life. My uncle Yvon, who introduced me to the Habs when I was 6 years old couldn’t deal with losing his wife in divorce. Over 40 years ago and still difficult to comprehend.
I was at the forum for one of his first games and I had seats right behind the net and I remember his blue eyes as he charged the net Don't remember if he scored but I remember his eyes GGH
We need a bounce Those fuckers are smothering us and they are showing us how size can be important in the playoffs Marty needs to give his head a shake They aren't just checking us they are pushing us around I hope somebody has a talk with him One more check to CCs head and he's out with a concussion And nobody is doing fuck all about it GGH
It was a GREAT run Best thing about this is that the shortcomings are crystal clear Including some shortfalls from Mr Marty He has a clear aversion to the physical aspect of playoff hockey which has to be addressed if our Glorious Habs are to progress in the trench warfare that is the Stanley Cup Playoffs Anyway We can hold our heads high We harbour no shame GGH
Didn’t expect 19 playoff games. They didn’t adjust but were also out of gas. Thanks boys for giving us some great hockey. A few pieces missing. Lessons to be learned. Fuck the refs. Fuck bettman. Fuck the sfu.
No more hockey for me In 93 I was a spry 38 now being 71 it takes a toll However We will keep a sharp eye on the dumpster fire in the armpit Jockularity and hilarity will ensue Looking forward to it GGH
And so it comes to an end. Good run ..still disappointed Lep didn't get to end it with a game - but I suspect he's played his last game as a Hab...shame - he deserved better from MSL
Thanks Moe and thanks Pad. This place of ours remains very special and I'll drop in throughout the summer. GYFHG!
It was a great season, close to the covid cup, and is some was better, the covid cup was the end and this is the beginning. However I am still dumbfounded and gobsmacke by the ability of the Whaler Canes to totally dominate us like a sheepdog herding sheep. I want an explanation, I want a alternative plan, I never want to see that again. We lost almost every battle, the Whaler canes where on a 60 min PP even when we had the PP. How is this possible? How did the fourth line make us look like an AHL team. How why who where? At least Hugo can read the tea leaves and cook in the offseason. I have question marks around Dach and Carrier. Dobson did not earn his 9.5. The highlight was Demigod, looking like baby Jesus.
The rebuild shifts to just building and upgrading. Like Steve said, and Jack Todd as well on BlueSky, something was not right the last two games. They did not look remotely like the team that beat Tampa and Buffalo. Injuries? Fatigue? We will probably find out in the next few days.
Two things have to be fixed. 1) The D needs a mean SoB to keep the crease clear. Matheson, Dobson and Carrier ain't it. Guhle might be someday but not yet. I thought Arber might play that role but Marty doesn't trust him. Maybe he's not good enough or not ready either. 2) Go get McDavid. Hughes needs to reach out to his agent and say: "when he's ready to leave Edmonton let me know." They have all the pieces necessary to make it happen. That guy would put them over the top. Another early flame out by the Oilers should convince Conner it's time to move on.
Carolina got beat up three years in a row in the ECFs, then they figured it out. Hopefully, Montreal can figure it out a little quicker.
I won't be watching one second of buttman's shit finals. Fuck him.
I was thinking it was the rat on each team that Montreal allowed to have their way around the net. Hagel, Benson, Stankoven, they went there with impunity, hence the need for some mean, nasty D man to cross check and hack at those little fuckers.
Now is the time when I post random and you connect the dots
or offer-sheet candidate Pavel Dorofeyev
Talented, minute-munching, edgy, right-shot defencemen with leadership skills are too rare in this league, so Andersson’s value is high
At the corner of rumors, I'm told that the injury report will be very heavy for the Habs.
Suzuki would have a tear in a thigh. Slafkovsky would have two good injuries: shoulder and leg. Dobson wouldn't be able to close his hand. Hutson would have a messed-up shoulder.

DeleteSurprised Claude Lemieux isn't in the HHoF
ReplyDeleteOne of those under the radar guys who unfortunately it takes something like this to realize his worth.
Delete80 playoff goals! That's 9th best all time.
Tied for 3rd in playoff GWGs.
6th most playoff games played.
3rd most playoff Penalty minutes.
Jack Todd has a nice writeup about Lemieux too.
ReplyDeleteWe need at least a few to channel their inner #32s tonight.

ReplyDeleteThe time you won your town the race
ReplyDeleteWe chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
Today, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.
Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay,
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.
Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers
After earth has stopped the ears.
Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.
So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup.
And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl’s.
To an Athlete Dying Young
A.E. Housman
Merci.

Nice
DeleteGarrett Rank will be one of the refs for Habs vs Hurricanes game 5 tonight
ReplyDeleteFix.
DeleteYeah but I think he also worked one of our game 7s and let the players play.

We are playing on house money , so I say go down gambling and leave a mark.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised Lep didn't get a game tonight. But what do I know. Just fucking win (for Claude)
ReplyDeleteOK, somebody step up and take charge of this game.
ReplyDeleteDon't let these rednecks walk all over you.
US anthem singer is high as a kite.
ReplyDeleteNotice how they didn't bring back the guy that sang in French for game 1.
DeleteVery clearly goalie interference
ReplyDeleteWell I might as well turn this off.
ReplyDeleteWe see what the plan is.
Even the TNT guys are shocked at the call.
This will give Carolina bad karma. This is good.
ReplyDeleteIt will be an early bedtime tonight.
ReplyDeleteIt looks to me like the entire team has lost their confidence.
They look like they are playing with a live grenade instead of a puck.
Good night all.
It was a good run.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to see the changes for next season.

ReplyDeleteBest thing about this is that the shortcomings are crystal clear

Thats the season for me I cant watCH any more.
ReplyDeleteI believe that secretly Nature badly wants to just get home to his wife and his baby girl, just six weeks old. He's spent.
ReplyDeleteBeing the 14th team knocked out of the playoffs is nothing to be ashamed of.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm just baffled at their apparent unwillingness to just put the puck towards the net. A couple of opportunities before that 4th goal.
Didn’t expect 19 playoff games.
ReplyDeleteThey didn’t adjust but were also out of gas.
Thanks boys for giving us some great hockey.
A few pieces missing.
Lessons to be learned.
Fuck the refs.
Fuck bettman.
Fuck the sfu.
Will wrap it up in a season ending thread.
I’m done with the nhl until October.
No more hockey for me

The sfu made sure to have justin williams on for their pleasure. Pure fucking scum.
ReplyDeleteI'm done and hitting the hay.
ReplyDeleteI can only hope I'm missing the greatest comeback in NHL history.
Whiskey! Cue the comeback
ReplyDeleteSeason is wrote. Lots of really good.
ReplyDeleteIt was an excellent season. Thank you Habs. Thank you SaintPad and moeman. We'll get 'em next year.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys (team and FHF). See ya next season.

I think Shakespeare can sum up our offseason the best.
ReplyDelete2C or not 2C. That is the question.
One player is not going to win that series, maybe one player with a shotgun.
