The Habs are a work in progress. These players are still trying to build chemistry as linemates and defence pairings. So far, I am impressed with the play of the Gold Dust twins Nick and Cole, Powerhorse, MonaHab and KD. Ghoul, Tree, Jordan and Kovy3.0 as well. I expect they will lose tonight but it will be fun to watch.
- mclame is lame, as always - stupid tavares I age - botterill is a hack - hahahrudey still exists ? - who the fuck cares about hahahrudey ? - friedman is a hack - O U T , too funny - friedman is a leaf hack - they show marlies footage - 7 minutes, all leaf - hahahrudey is sucking dubass - hahahrudey is a leaf hack - Murray didn’t win Cups on his own, ask Crosby - at the 10 minute mark, Sens talk - scooping pucks is leadership according to mclame - botterill is fucking annoying - Habs talk at 12 minutes in - hahahrudey always looks constipated - disgusting gambling spot - they spend more time on gambling than on Habs and Sens combined
That gambling shit is awful, way to lower yourself NHL. Guess we saw this coming when they let Vegas in the league. Fortunately for me, I don't gamble, I don't eve understand all this over under shit it means nothing to me. I don't even buy lottery tickets.
And now fried-man is interviewing the biggest fucking diver in the league. Who cares about that POS.
Not a bad first period. These new Habs can skate with anybody. Waiting for Full Monty to give up a cheap one. Man, I hate all this bloody gambling shit, I have to keep the TV muted all the time.
What a finish to the Giants-Ravens game. New York Football Giants are 5-1! The hockey gods are cruel to me but the NFL football gods have decided after about a decade to be kind to me. Thank you.
Interesting day of football. Congrats on the wins. I can't pick winners at all this year. Hanging around the bottom third of the pool, about to drown. I should make my picks for next week then swap them all just before the week starts.
Sadly the Habs need another high pick. Which guarantees nothing. And may require patience.
Ovi (2004/1) Backstrom (2006/4) won cup in 2018. Geno (2004/2) Siid (2005/1) won cups in 2009/16/17 Toews (2006/3) Kane (2007/1) won cups in 2010/13/15 Draisaitl (2014/3) McDavid (2015/1) Crickets Marner (2015/4) Underpants 2016/1) hahahahahahaha
Point being that even with teams that get high consecutive(ish) picks, it can come together in a few years like the Pens and Hawks. Or it can take a LONG tie like the Caps or Oilers (tbd). Or it may never happen like the wretched leaf. Best case scenario here is 3 or 4 years after your 2nd high pick. So 2026 or 2027. Sweet Jesus I hope they can break that trend. I will accept 2025, the year I am eligible to retire (April 1 of that year to be exact).
Excellent analysis, SP. I'd add Pittsburgh also took M-A Fleury at #1 just before Gino in 2003, and Edmonton got RNH at #1 in 2011. Plus, Buffalo of course.
Remember the saying "Rome wasn't built in a day". Also, HuGo has to clean up the mess bergy left behind of bad contracts and questionable players. This was always going to be a somewhat long term project, hopefully similar to the path the Rags took. The Habs may have acquired their version of Zibanejad with Monahan, Slaf is similar to Lafreniere, now the Habs need to find a Panarin and Shesterkin. That might take some doing but Gorton has the wherewithal to make it happen.
I'm probably going to take a break from hockey tonight, but welcome back Dish... don't burn your previous team too badly, ok?
We were pushed around by the dead things. Those boys were big. We need a little more of The Jackel tonight. Can't play soft.
ReplyDeleteGo Habs

DeleteHNIC has been a shitshow since the wretched sportsnet took over.

ReplyDeleteNature! First NHL point for Ax/JackEye too
ReplyDeleteMon-tank-bo
ReplyDeleteHabs goalies this year are gonna face more rubber than a three dollar hooker.
ReplyDeletePP still Powerless, some things never change. Oh for the days of Vodkov or MAB...
ReplyDeleteTough without Munster or Matheson
DeleteLooking at the bright side, the Habs are going to get one of Bedard, Fantili, Michkov, Dvorsky a franchise changer. Neither Slaf or Wright is that...
ReplyDeleteGonna be a long season

ReplyDeleteSteelers and Pats win too. You never know in the NFL. It's why I don't play Pro-Line.
DeleteIts about winning the cup, not being a good team, not racking up points in the meaningless regualar season. Go Habs GO
ReplyDeleteTrue enough, but a win on occasion feels good.
DeleteBills Chiefs is a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteNice to see my Steelers (and others) pull out some wins.
ReplyDeleteAlways good to see Brady lose.
