How'd you do at sCHool today boys? (a work in progress, today the D-men)

~ ~ ~
Head of the Class - Josh Gorges, arguably the un-'C'd team member that rarely if ever gives less than 100% effort. He'll take a puck to the head to prevent a scoring opportunity and will stand up for his classmates with pride, humility, dignity and gorgeousness. 100% 92%. (no one gets 100%)

Fast Times - Pernell K. Subban, reined in by The System™ and challenged with top minutes with #79 out for what was almost an entire season. Awesome second half with (finally) flashes of his brilliance on display. 85%

Needs Improvement - Pretty boys Raphael Diaz and Yannick Weber, both suffered from rookie-type mistakes, despite one being an All-Star. Lots of competition in the pipeline may see one or both dealt. 70%.

My Bodyguard - Alexei Emelin, (Y) started off body busting and dropping huge, hard hits, then surprisingly slowed down. Impressed with his defensive skill and how he kept the crease clear. 85%.

Spicoli Redux - Chris Campoli, nice guy, fun to be around, plays like he's half-stoned. 70%.

Valedictorian Vodov - Andrei Markov is our team's most skilled player that deserves to be listened to (love his interview sarcasm). The few smooth dishes from the PP point were a reminder of how delicious it is to watch him play. 85%.

Barely Passed - Tomas Kaberle, had one really good game, then he and his supposed sweet sausage passes disappeared. 70%.

Attendance counts - Frederic St. Denis, not often in the line-up but when there he showed some good skills and deserves a permanent call-up. 80%.

Honour Roll mention - Hal Gill and Jaro Spacek for their time as Canadiens.

  1. For next year I see
PFK Jorges as number one unit this will give room for PFK to find his offense with limited blowback.

Vodkov & the saint - a new reality TV show about boys and men playing together. NTTAWWT ask the Pope.

    (Y) and TinTin - dead bodys every game.

Bond Nathan Bond - number oo7 defense man

Don't jump the gun here Steve. TinTin and 007 need some time to mature in the AHL. If they are in the show next year, Montreal will be picking Nathan McKinnon or Seth Jones in 2013. Wait....what?

    2. Who is Tin Tin? Who is Gmoe?

These are Steve's nicknames. I'm guessing TinTin = Tinordi, Nathan Bond 007 = Beaulieu and Gmoe = Grigorenko.

    4. Yes, names are correct. Yep they probably need a year in Hamilton. But that means Weber and Daizling at 6 & 7. Or worse KACA rides again.

Saw them 4 times, twice as The English Beat (once with The Clash tour, one with Talking Heads), once as General Public and just a few years ago as part of the reunion tour. Grew up loving reggae/ska/punk/new wave. Underrated band. Love how they blend in 'Better Man' as a call out to Pearl Jam doing the same with their song.

Are you guys aware of some shit over at HIO about Vodkov and some "anonymous" player dissing PFK. WTF? That little rat Lavoie at Reseau des Seperatistes is stirring it up.

I'll be glad when Phoenix moves to QC and all those seperatists will fuck off and leave the Habs alone. They can all go suck St. Patrick's dick.

    4. Markov was being facetious. He's funny like that. Sadly his humour is lost on the mediots.

  4. Possible second line Giant, SuperPlexxxe, Kafka. With PFK pair. Kafka can back up PFK when he rushes. The line never goes down low. Just rushes, trys a play and moves back up ice.

  5. I am still in disbelief over how poorly this season went. Maybe I overvalue our guys, but the people who tell me this are the ones that think that the late 70's Habs were "slightly above average" and Dryden was okay.

*Brian Gionta, as classy on and off the ice as you'll find, went out of his way to not blindside Optimus!, who was way, way out of the blue crease and replays show the goofy (on and off the ice) céline assed the not-so-big Gionta into pReim Minister, who tried valiantly to avoid a collision.

  15. What is going to happen tonite

Kmaxx - we get the first pick overall, and Pavel Bure gives him stem cells.

Juice - same but Nail gives her cells.

Moeman - the Cotu decide based upon the outcome of the lottery the Leaf got the best position.

Maritimer - no way no how we get huberdeau

Soperman - I cant believe buttman fucked us again.

Money - does Vodkov really hate cats?

Handulf - It does not matter, pick the fucking swede they are almost german.

Chester - its a long way from Quebec city to Montreal.

Eclair - we are exactly where we should be, that is if we were in any way competent.

Moeman - does this mean I can have another Subban at no cost?

29 - in the long run the most internet savvy guy is our pick, so I go for netflicks and he is not even in the top five.

31 - I hope we move up to both good looking and good cooking(goals and assist, no sexist kitchen comments allowed)
orange man - fuck the lottery, trade our current position to Boston and hope for mercy.

Steve - the leafs will win the lottery. This is tied into the purchase of F35. In number four place take NETFLICKS.

  28. God I cant stand those people endlessly speculating about the draft, dont they have something better to do.

I gotta stick with Forsberg. Gmoe is tanking in the playoffs, GCHuk cant skate. And keep in mind the Q is an easier league than O or W, or is it, who won the M last year. It may be the Dogs just got lucky and have a team full of studs.

Could this be our second round pick.

    1. I hate to sound like a separatist, or maybe I like sounding like one. NHL Central Scouting has very few people listed from the Q. Most of them are either Europeans, cf. Tomas Hyka at 45 or guys from Montreal who based on first names appear to be bi lingual- for example- Dillon Fournier- at 136. Looking at the list, I think that Central Scouting may have a lack of language skills and that there are plums to be picked out there. Kids from places like Laurier Station and Ville Degelis. The prejudices I see involve paying excess attention to suburbs and summer tournaments, particularly those near the COTU, or NTDP or the Minneapolis Airport. A similar change happened in structure of the CJHL Prospect Camp over the past decade. It went from a wide open event with half the continent showing up geographically, and lots of small town kids, to a last pre draft look at the ODMHA AAA kids. That league now has a huge number of kids from elite US pay to play programs in places like Cleveland and suburban LA. I also think scouts are backwards looking on skill sets- grit vs. skating skill and speed for example. No obstruction favors the skill set in Québec where body checking is introduced later, yet the focus is on the OHL and metro Toronto, where kids are "finishing their checks" at age 10.

    2. we better be scouting hard.

  30. Another exciting aspect of this draft is we pick very close to the Leaf. Harken back to 2009. The leaf take Kardi at number 7, we take Lebalnc at 18. Like they say, picking before the Leaf or after the Leaf is the same thing.
Looking at 2009 Leblanc has been a solid pick. Of the top 5 all are now stars except Hedman at number 2. Chris Krieder may turn out to be a better pick, but how could we pass on a native son.

    1. the Maritimer12:28 PM

The Habs hands were kind of tied in the 2009 draft being held in Montreal. LL was picked right about where he was ranked, the only other choice was Simon Despres a big mobile offensive defenceman who played big minutes in Saint John. Pitt took him 30th that year.

Funny, the Sea Dogs took a run at Chris Kreider in the Q draft, I think they drafted him but knew he was going to BU. They ended up with Charlie Coyle who is having a monster playoff. Looking more and more like the Sea Dogs and Remparts may meet in the playoffs. Huberdeau vs. Gmoe, St. Patrick vs. the Turk (Gallant's nickname when he played for Detroit). Gonna be some fun at Harbour Station if it happens.
