  1. That is a great cartoon. The Habs ghost looks so sad. I feel his pain.

Glad the Hawks won. Goes to show if you suck real good for a few years and have the correct management in place afterwards, you are rewarded. Who knows, maybe if the Habs pick up Giroux at #20 (he went 22) instead of David Fisher and (I know, I know) Lucic at #49 (he went 50) in 2006 and hung onto their #1 pick from 2007 in McDonagh, we could have at least one of those cups instead of the Hawks. Hence the 'correct management' statement...

    So many if onlys.

    1. I think DGMB will make some pre and Draft day moves. He may surprise us.

My only big if only, of recent memory, is/was picking Leblanc. Local Francophone kid gets picked was nice and all but it felt like a grasp. Very un-Timmins-like.

On the plus side I was crazy happy when TFS™ was picked and even happier when Bob Gainey labelled him our thoroughbred. PatCHes was icing and PFK another layer of the same. Getting rid of Gomez was the thing to do and most of us (outside of that guy Timmins) the loss of McD hurt.

Seeing as they are hiring all the acclaimed talent (by them and the SFU), will the leaf come after Timmins?

We can't look back. However, I was surprised when they took Price at No. 5 as they seemed set in goal at the time with Theodore and Mathieu Garon. It was the right pick as CHicken and Gilbert Brule were both busts, but what if they had taken Kopitar instead?

I agree that GMMB is probably on the phone as we speak, Stan Bowman is probably on speed dial. I think the leaf will leave Timmins alone they already have Mark Hunter.

Also, to Mr. HabsFan29 re his comment: "Is it September yet?"
      1. Never wish your life away.
      2. After the winter we just went through, the last thing I want is for summer to be gone that quick. We haven't really had a decent Spring. Please, let me enjoy a couple months of warmth! Have Mercy!

    3. My opinion with McDonagh is that the Habs could have never afforded to keep both him and PK on the blue line, never mind Vodkov as well. So I believe it's all a myth anyway. The (retroactive) choice was never having McD and PK together. It would have had to be either McD or PK. Now, that would have led to a possible trade that would have benefited the team greatly a year or two ago, but keeping McD could have also led to the Habs passing over PK in the draft or trading him much earlier for peanuts. At the end of the day, though, given the realistic options I'm glad the Habs have PK right now and wouldn't change a thing if that reality were threatened in any way.

  2. Barring some miracles tomorrow, it looks like Canada will play Switzerland in the round of 16 at the World Cup. They're actually ranked a bit lower than any other team they've played so far.

I've always liked the player. Poor Pleks, didn't he have Kovalev and Samsonov as his wingers aka "Boris and Natasha" aka "Smoke and Mirrors" once upon a time?

  5. We are keeping our PP coach even though it was piss poor, no excuses next year when DDD double shifts the PP.
Instead of LeBlanc, we should have taken Krieder. How could we draft a player who cant skate?

  6. Today's sports headline in the Korean Herald:

    "Chicago Bears Clinch Stanley Cup"

Not joking. I don't have a link because it was apparently fixed in their online edition. Just have a personal pic from the hardcopy making the rounds on facebook with my friends. It's nice of the Hawks to share with the other sports teams in their town, I guess. Especially since it was the fans of those teams who filled the United Center after the Hawks started winning again.

    Also, this video.

And we all thought it was because of PK!

I would hazard a guess part of the problem is Canadians, for the most part, are sick and tired of seeing American teams in the Finals (or earlier) year after year after year after year. I know I had zero interest in this Final, didn't watch one second. Does that make me a Habs fan not a hockey fan? Bullshit, I watched the World Juniors, the World Championships and the Memorial Cup and always do. I've lost interest in Buttman's American monopoly on the Stanley Cup, fuck'im.

Plus, snet's God awful production and the SFU crap is horrid to watch/listen to.

    1. Lots to dig into that clusterfuck of numbers.

Funny they never include Quebec numbers, be it RDS or now tva.

I caught moments but coulduhandle the SFU. The few enjoyable minutes were on nbc.

Dead giveaway when they mention crotch mc lame and no leaf. They can fuck off by trying to put all Canadians in that shitpile.

Hab numbers were off the charts on all networks.

The SFU has and continues to force feed leaf. It is their demise..

    2. You're absolutely correct, the M. I watch tons of hockey, but have little interest in the NHL outside the Habs because it resembles the WWE more than a hockey league. It's infuriating to watch make up calls, made up calls, biased officiating always preferring teams from certain areas over others, SN's dreadful commentary that always revolves around the leaf, etc., etc.

If Quennevhlle were to leave or be pushed out in CHI-town, does DGMB make a call?

I don't think he's bilingual but the last name sounds correct.

Seriously, the Habs would have to take a nasty stumble early to get eMpTy fired. He has too much cred built up at the moment.

  12. I know it's only pre-season games, but why the hell do the Habs have to play the leaf twice, let alone once.

  13. My daughter emailed me last night with the subject Classy Carey, not sure if anyone remembers my post about the 5 hunters who died where she currently lives in Misstisini, (she attended the funeral service), she showed me a pic of a condolence card Price sent to one of the fathers. I saw this on the Habs twitter account from the father thanking him.
