"Galchenyuk has five multi-goal games over an eight-game span, a feat accomplished by the late Jean Béliveau from Feb. 28 to March 15, 1959. Galchenyuk has 11 goals and one assist during his eight-game run; Béliveau had 13 goals and 10 assists."

@the Maritimer,
NHL ✔ @NHL Alex Galchenyuk March 2 - 2 goals March 5 - 2 goals March 8 - 2 goals Tonight - 2 goals 9:47 PM - 10 Mar 2016
"He has now found the back of the net 11 times in his last eight games, adding one assist during that stretch.
Galchenyuk has had six multi-goal games since Feb. 12, and is the first Canadien since Brian Savage in 1995 to post multi-goal games in three consecutive contests, and the first Canadien since Jean Beliveau in 1959 with five multi-goal games in an eight-game span."
NHL Public Relations @PR_NHL Per @EliasSports: Alex Galchenyuk is first @CanadiensMTL player with 4 multi-goal efforts in a 5-game span since Rejean Houle in 1980."
Imagine if Shit-head coach and his inflated ego had given him more ice time earlier, maybe those 1-goal losses would have been wins instead and they would be in a playoff position. Have to wonder if DGMB and Molson consider that instead of using TFS as their excuse. They lost some games where they dominated the opponent and should have had a better result. They may not be Cup contenders but there is enough talent on this team than their record shows.
Likely he won't keep this pace, but man, isn't it fun to see?
That was quite a run by Beliveau back in '59----23 points in 8 games, over 3 point per game pace.
Amusing how the coach gives Alex credit for finally "maturing" into his current form, despite his best efforts to "shelter" him on the wing while playing the hell out of an unproductive DD. Too bad #27 couldn't have got some of those PP minutes wasted on DD as well. Oh well, what's past is over, so no sense dwelling on what could have been.
I'll be extremely disappointed if Therrien is back next year. I don't see them making any headway with him at the helm. If Mr. Molson wants to tread water so be it.
We agree but I am really starting to think that DGMB won't make the move until he fucks up next season...especially if the Habs go on a bit of a run towards the end - especially if TFS comes back to play a half dozen games or so...he'll justify not sacking him by showing you what they could do if he had TFS for the whole season...blah blah blah...that's my worry anyway.
Yes! Spring ahead, my fave season, the re-birth of flowers, leaves on trees, birds CHirping, longer days, cracking the windows open without needing the AC's and just a feeling of life anew.
Cut the lawn for the first time today. UK doesn't spring forward for another couple of weeks but it was a pretty wicked afternoon in deepest Kent. 15C and sunny. So PFK gets the night off - should be interesting to see the Habs without him. As always...just fucking win!
Eller (flu) & Matteau (lower body) will not play tonight.
Lower body you say? I suggest we nickname the newest Hab ouCH! As in "ouCH Matteau!" (my toe). After all, stubbing said appendage could have caused this lower body injury.
Funny, I was looking at some hockey cards from the mid 2000's, remember the Three Amigos? Theodore, Mickey Ribs and Pierre Dagenais... I'm wondering with all the rumours about young Mr. Matteau if he will be the latest version of Dagenais?
Made a delish oven-roasted turkey, mashed (red skin yellow flesh) potato, buttered steamed broccoli and tiramisu (coffee bean soaked rum not Amaretto). Aussie CHard.
One of my gal pals told me when I started 'cookin' again, she'd know I was back, baby!
Actually a good week. Still can't/won't do a full day of work at work but no major symptoms to report and I am now enjoying not being tired after a half hour of activity. Slow progress. Time and good rest.
Glad to hear it moe! I was wondering, thinking back to the colour wheel from grade six art class, if you have potatoes with red skin and yellow flesh, do they turn orange when you mash them?
Cauliflower rice and pork 'n beef meatballs for me.
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!
As usual the 3rd period is not working on gamecenter. Woke up a bit late, saw the end of 2nd and the intermission without one hiccup, literally 7 seconds into the 3rd it froze and won't start up again. Luckily, the Habs suck so I don't really care that much about 3rd periods these days. But I won't be renewing my subscription next season. Not a great business model they've got going on.
Anyway, are they eliminated officially after tonight?
Finally got it working, have it playing in another window because it is incredibly boring. Why is Bob Cole allowed on the air? Oh yeah, because HNIC doesn't care about the Habs.
One thing I'm amazed at this year is that Montreal has only been shut out once all season (so far). Considering how bad they got, and how they couldn't score for months, I'm surprised by that. I think they were shutout lots more last year.
They still got a shot at a top 5 pick. The SFUcker Network is keeping track of the lottery standings, proudly displaying their leaf as No. 1... Hey, they are first at something!
Didn't watch the game (had a nice dinner with lots of friends and family for my wife's 40th)...but man, after I looked at the score and decided it wasn't worth looking at the highlights...Except, I did watch Sheiks gift, nice of him to help the tank!
Rumour has it that the Habs would have hired Marc Crawford instead of eMpTy back in the day but MC had that Bertuzzi/Moore thing hanging over him at the time. Wonder if we would be calling for his head by now?

Well, if you can't CaCHe it, kill it.
ReplyDeleteI won't pick on the boys tonight, pretty much the AHL IceCaps playing tonight.
ReplyDeleteI do hope Guy Boucher has a meeting with MB though.
Better Guy than Crawford who's not re-signed in Europe.
DeleteShots 10-1 Habs this period.
ReplyDeleteFinally got it working, have it playing in another window because it is incredibly boring. Why is Bob Cole allowed on the air? Oh yeah, because HNIC doesn't care about the Habs.
ReplyDeleteFire up the tank again. Speaking of tanks, the leaf have theirs finely tuned and purring.
ReplyDelete4-1 EN goal.
ReplyDeleteHabs within 3 feet of blue line = offside, every time.
ReplyDeleteNeeds coaching.

ReplyDelete'Night everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhat time is it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping the joint hopping juce & FHFriends. I crashed out.
ReplyDeleteThe thanks is all yours for granting us this FHFun place to be.
DeleteI left after the first...wasn't feeling it...
ReplyDeleteThey still got a shot at a top 5 pick. The SFUcker Network is keeping track of the lottery standings, proudly displaying their leaf as No. 1... Hey, they are first at something!
ReplyDeleteHaha, leafies are in an uproar over Duthie's odds. They strived to be 30th just to end up with better odds at picking 4th than they do 1st.
Delete"Sobering math for Leafs or whoever comes 30th: almost 50/50 chance (47.5%) last place team drops all the way to 4th in NHL Draft Lottery.
Odds of where last place team will pick in NHL Draft:
1st: 20%
2nd: 17.5%
3rd: 15%
4th: 47.5%"
If both the Penss and Wings lose in regulation, the Caps would clinch the playoffs.
ReplyDeletewe are full up with Smurfs, the leaf want smurf, lets trade for draft picks. DDD for a broken hockey stick
ReplyDeleteCharlie Hudon, hmm is CH to obvious
ReplyDeleteCHud is the name
DeleteGood Morning FHFers!! Beautiful, sunny day in the Maritimes and the robins are back! Not a drop of snow here, it's been spring for weeks already...

ReplyDeleteMedical updates: Beaulieu is questionable, while Eller will not dress Tuesday. P.K Subban will miss at least the next 2 games. - Therrien
ReplyDeleteProbably eMpTy's discreet way of keeping his least favourite players off the ice for a bit longer.
DeleteCan't believe I didn't catCH that common link.

SFUckers: 'coaches challenges will be challenged because Side Show is too good at coaches challenges'.
ReplyDeleteHeh. He's got nothing better to do behind that bench.
DeleteAll the SFU coach's challenges examples are of Side Show. Why?
DeleteHere's an idea for the GMs (you too recently de-bearded DGMB), get rid of the off side and whilst at it, icing too. Death to the dump and chase.
Rumour has it that the Habs would have hired Marc Crawford instead of eMpTy back in the day but MC had that Bertuzzi/Moore thing hanging over him at the time. Wonder if we would be calling for his head by now?
ReplyDeleteThere just isn't too much to CHoose from out of the coaching pool, which is limited given the self-imposed criteria.
DeleteMT2 will be back next season. The only hope is he doesn't mariotremblayfucksoverpatrickroy TFS™.
DeleteI just made a new verb with 'mariotremblayfucksoverpatrickroy'.
In my own weird way, I have a way with coming up with what I call descriptive words, here is a new one and I think it is a really good one:
