It should be geography based, how do two Florida Teams end up in our conference? Answer, the only fans they have come from Toronto and Montreal. If they do not have a fair playoff system its crap.
ReplyDeleteIt's unclear to me the playoff system, I'm currently searching for details (throw some my way if you have any) but apparently, 4 top teams in each conference would go in the playoffs. First round (I think) is played entirely inside your conference then...I don't know...
ReplyDeleteTop four from each conference play Round 1 (1v4 2v3), those winners face off in Round 2, Round 3 will consist of one team left from each conference. The final could conceivably be two 'Eastern' or two 'Western' teams.

ReplyDeleteOn another note - I watched the NHL video with Shanaban explaining why he did what he did...makes no sense...As someone has alreadystated - Tootoo was a previous offender and gets2 games - Patches was a model athlete previous and gets 3. Again, a player trying a last minute move to avoid a serious collision is interpreted as an intentional act of aggression. Tootoo was cutting in with the opponent's stick at his feet and the goalie inthe way. He shifts and jumps to avoid a full on smash up. Having your feet in the air is much less impactful than if he stayed on the ice. Someone remind me here - did Shanaban ever actually play hockey? He certainly does seem to have forgotten everything anyone who has ever played hockey knows. On a play like that the goalie is going to get hit - and he was penalised for it. But a suspension in addition is just wrong and IMHO it was a concession to Miller and Ruff for fuckin' up the call on Lucic.
