Josh is the heart and soul of our team moving forward. I hope Gio stays as long as his contract warrants but it weirds me out how quiet he's been. Bonus of this signing is Gorges is TFS™'s best/closest friend. I hope it gives Price the extra vibe to sign as long a term a deal.
First good news in weeks if not months. Anon on the previous thread no playoffs sorry the math says no way. Unless TFS pitches a shutout EVERY game or they run into 6 or 7 sieves in a row it's not happening. Still, the Gorges signing is the first step in the re-load. All they need is a Malkin type center to feed #13 and a Shea Weber or Ryan Suter stud d-man and the turn around could be quicker than we think.
Agree with all, JG is the Man and can wear the "C" on my team anytime.
@moeman and anon, playoffs have not been realistic for the past half dozen games and in miracle territory for the last 3, regardless of what is still "mathematically possible".
Big difference between a long-shot and a delusion, I know I have been Debbie Downer for a while but this is a team with 35 points in 39 games that needs to to get 55 points in the next 43, how realistic is it to think that this is possible? They do not have the horses to get it done, had they stayed closer to the 90 point pace then maybe but the gap is much too wide for this team.... but I still luv 'em!
Need to wonder why pfuckdaddy is one of the biggest pieces of shit hockey blogs? Don't read their excuse and hate-filled (leaf lovers?) piece on Josh's new deal. Sick fucks. Wyshynski and his crew are fucking flybynighters. I'd label them the dennis miller of hockey blogs but they aren't that witty or semintellectual.
Gio put out a Happy New Year tweet. That's all it said. Being captain he has to know that the fans aren't exactly thrilled right now. I would have liked to have seen a little more, perhaps a Happy New Year and I can't wait to be back on the ice to help the team. Or we hope to turn a page in 2012. Something along those lines would have been nice, even if it is BS.
Though the team is not doing well, there have been some bright moments, the firing of JM, the signing of Gorgeous Gorges. Now we need to sign TFS, PFK and fire the Goat.
Allright, a good signing! Happy for Gorges and for the Habs...They need him.
As for Gio, he's still the Habs' (my) captain. I'm sure he's doing a great job at it. I'm certain he's appreciated in the room. Although, he seems to be a silent captain...maybe the Habs need a vocal captain and Gorges seems to be that guy, down the stretch.
Anyhow, excellent news on the 2nd day of 2012. Maybe it will not be the end of the world after all!
So signing Gorges probably mean Gill is a goner, Campoli is a goner and Weber...that just about frees up $4Mil...
I fucking hope the mexicant is a goner, in the worst possible way. And I hope this contract hurts in the long run, teach the Habs a lesson. It already started to hurt (McDonagh is top 4 D with NYR - that stings).
Soooooo happy for Gorges! He really deserves it. Is this what the Habs meant by "outside the box"? Cause if it is, I LIKE IT.
I've accepted the fact that we will most likely NOT be seeing any playoff action from this team this season. That's not being negative, it's being realistic, right?
@Moey - I know :( Maybe they'll fire Gauthier at the end of the season to provide us with some entertainment?
I was sure he was a goner after he was seemingly not given permission to hire outside the organization and while he was allowed to handle Jorje's contract, I wonder who will be negotiating with TFS, PFK and Lego's agents...
Apparently we're not the only one who are frustrated: boys are scrapping it out at practice. PK goes at it with Pleks only to be separated by Jorje (<3). Then, PK drops the gloves with Jorje. No bueno.
I know everyone says it means nothing but fights at practice worry me.
It was so warm last night over here I have no idea how the stupid Winter Classic hasn't turned into a swimming pool as I can only imagine it being much warmer in Philly...
PK must have slew-footed Pleks, then Gorges thought a bad name and PK knew what he was thinking. Good to see though that the gloves aren't glued on to PK's hands.
"There's a lot of respect for the process," Dineen said after Monday's skate was followed by an off-ice workout. "That's a little wordy but that is the truth. The Winter Classic ... we want to give that the opportunity to take center stage, and then the league will take care of their business [Tuesday]. So it would be inappropriate for me to make any comments until they do their due diligence.
"Once the league has evaluated all the information that they have, then myself and Krys Barch will have further comment from there," Dineen added.
iRiRi I was scrolling through pics of Winter Classic and there was a shot of Ranger's player playing soccer in the tunnels. Guess they're still allowed, but if it was me, I wouldn't risk it.
I'm guessing HBO was rooting for the Flyers because there's no way that wasn't scripted... It was like Habs-bad officiating, especially when it was pretty clear the Flyers were losing and the Rangers were not letting them past the red line.
Didn't bother to watch the winter classic, I'm not interested in either team. Went out to the stores for a couple of hours. After Christmas shopping hasn't been great so far. A wallet of cash and nothing to spend it on. *sigh*
Ok so we have too many lawyers sitting around not billing any hours. To what extent is a team free to add contract clauses to insure against injury or guarantee or off set the risk of long term injury? Does the CBA make for a standard form contract? Along those lines to what extent does Gomer's once broken pelvis play into his contract and his persistent groin (groan) injury?
Kiss of death for the Giant, no matter what next years Habs are going to have a new Capitan, no TITS, no Giant, no Gomereah.
ReplyDeleteJosh is the heart and soul of our team moving forward. I hope Gio stays as long as his contract warrants but it weirds me out how quiet he's been. Bonus of this signing is Gorges is TFS™'s best/closest friend. I hope it gives Price the extra vibe to sign as long a term a deal.
ReplyDeleteBonus, just like blocking a shot, Josh gets a first year NTC.

Who cares about this crap season anyway. JORJE FOR 6 YEARS = WOOOOO! GYFH!
ReplyDeleteWish people would leave Gio alone. The guy's fucking injured and was playing injured. It's killing him that he can't play or help the team right now.
However, yes, a big C on Jorje's sweater is only inevitable.
N31, I don't think people are ragging Gio too much. Hurt or not, I'd like to see his presence. He carries the 'C' as long as he wants it.
ReplyDelete"Sergei Kostitsyn scored three goals to lead the Nashville Predators to their third straight victory..."

ReplyDeleteGorgeous Gorges, Yeah, Baby!
ReplyDeleteI am delirious! Make him CAPTAIN!
moeman, yea not here. On Twitter all I see in reference to our little injured captain is "trade him" sigh...
ReplyDeleteWake up, it's a Gorges day!
ReplyDeleteI'm up!
ReplyDeleteI'm always up, plan the parade!
ReplyDeleteGio put out a Happy New Year tweet. That's all it said. Being captain he has to know that the fans aren't exactly thrilled right now. ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, congrats to Josh, he deserves it.
Oh yeah, I dreamt that Subban was traded last night and the fence in our backyard fell down. Weird.
ReplyDeleteThough the team is not doing well, there have been some bright moments, the firing of JM, the signing of Gorgeous Gorges. Now we need to sign TFS, PFK and fire the Goat.
ReplyDeleteWow Moey, if that actually happens, you have "powers".
ReplyDeleteAllright, a good signing! Happy for Gorges and for the Habs...They need him.
ReplyDeleteAs for Gio, he's still the Habs' (my) captain. I'm sure he's doing a great job at it. I'm certain he's appreciated in the room. Although, he seems to be a silent captain...maybe the Habs need a vocal captain and Gorges seems to be that guy, down the stretch.

I agree juce, TFS then PFK...NAO!
ReplyDeleteSo signing Gorges probably mean Gill is a goner, Campoli is a goner and Weber...that just about frees up $4Mil...

juce,
ReplyDeleteThe probability of our fence falling down is much greater.
Okay, this is my last day off. What to do...what to do....
Moey, "What to do...what to do...."
ReplyDeleteput the fence back up.
Soooooo happy for Gorges! He really deserves it. Is this what the Habs meant by "outside the box"? Cause if it is, I LIKE IT.
ReplyDeleteI've accepted the fact that we will most likely NOT be seeing any playoff action from this team this season. That's not being negative, it's being realistic, right?
Moey, Then take down the tree, just did mine.
ReplyDeleteNew Year, new beginnings...Habs will turn things around.
ReplyDeletemoe,
ReplyDeleteIt hasn't fallen down (yet).
juce,
Next weekend's task will be to put away the Christmas stuff.
Ri,
It's realistic but makes for a VERY long off season, which sucks.
@Moey - I know :( Maybe they'll fire Gauthier at the end of the season to provide us with some entertainment?
ReplyDeleteI was sure he was a goner after he was seemingly not given permission to hire outside the organization and while he was allowed to handle Jorje's contract, I wonder who will be negotiating with TFS, PFK and Lego's agents...
Realized my previous comment about firing Gauthier seemed a tad cold. I don't take joy in people losing their jobs but... well, you know what I meant.
ReplyDeleteApparently we're not the only one who are frustrated: boys are scrapping it out at practice. PK goes at it with Pleks only to be separated by Jorje (<3). Then, PK drops the gloves with Jorje. No bueno.
ReplyDeleteI know everyone says it means nothing but fights at practice worry me.
iRiRi - be worried if fights didn't happen. PK keeps them honest, and on the edge. Basically: he's the wake up call.
ReplyDeleteIt was so warm last night over here I have no idea how the stupid Winter Classic hasn't turned into a swimming pool as I can only imagine it being much warmer in Philly...
ReplyDeleteWinter Classic was moved to 3:00pm when weather is expected to be colder.
ReplyDeletePK must have slew-footed Pleks, then Gorges thought a bad name and PK knew what he was thinking. Good to see though that the gloves aren't glued on to PK's hands.
ReplyDeleteI think PK's days as a Hab are numbered.
ReplyDeleteDon't think so, Maritimer...
ReplyDelete@Number31 - I really hope so.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the traditions of bringing a wailing dying cat to sing the anthems is still alive and well at the Winter Classic.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss something? I heard Patti Labelle but did not see her.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Barch:
ReplyDelete"There's a lot of respect for the process," Dineen said after Monday's skate was followed by an off-ice workout. "That's a little wordy but that is the truth. So Moey, what did you do today?
ReplyDeleteWinter Classic snoozefest.
ReplyDeleteSo they're keeping quiet on the racial slur incident until this is over eh..
iRiRi I was scrolling through pics of Winter Classic and there was a shot of Ranger's player playing soccer in the tunnels. Guess they're still allowed, but if it was me, I wouldn't risk it.

The Pleks-PFK fight is the biggest story in the history of TSN it looks like. To use moe's phrase, sick fucks.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing HBO was rooting for the Flyers because there's no way that wasn't scripted... It was like Habs-bad officiating, especially when it was pretty clear the Flyers were losing and the Rangers were not letting them past the red line.

ReplyDeleteMoey, save that cash for a rainy day or a Josh Gorges jersey!
