Get well soon Mr. Beliveau. You can't leave this earth after this horridn season. You deserve better. Stick around for a few more years, we'll get the cup back.
The first time I saw the Habs win the Cup, you lifted it - it was your last as Captain. You are an inspiration to Habs fans around the world! Get well soon!!
According to the RDS article...Maybe the Columbus fans will boo or be mad at Rick Nash for demanding a trade. I can understand how they feel, but they should feel for Rick Nash as well. He's been there 9 FUCKING years already, no playoffs (or maybe 1 appearance??), no good drafts, no support and yet he's putting up amazing numbers. Let him go, take the players/picks coming back and hope for the best...
The guy has been a monster for Columbus for years now and he has nothing to show for it. I know it's all about the team but every hockey player (probably) wants at least a shot at the Stanley Cup.
My limited knowledge of the salary structure tells me that Palushaj has been around a few more years than DDD, just toiling in the minors, therefore he makes more money. DDD has a far greater earning potential going forward.
Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!!
Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!!
My first year of watching the playoffs was Beliveau's last. I hope he's going to be okay, doesn't bear thinking about not seeing him in the Bell Center occupying his usual seat.
Mine too (despite being named after/for The Rocket). Jean may just be the greatest Canadian/Canadien ever. Humble, polite, classy, smart, genuine, caring and I could go on. I am dreading the day we lose him but methinks he'd love nothing more than his life's torch be carried forward. An amazing human being. We are lucky to have him.
There was a race between Gordie Howe and the Rocket, and fans can argue forever who was more important. For Jean there is no race, there is no competitor, he is greater than Gretzky, a single superstar standing alone. In his retirement he stands alone. A historical figure who can not be surmounted like Shakesphere, Beethoven and the Beatles.
I love it when the leaf goes on a long losing streak like now and listening to all the whining from the cotu mediots as moeman calls them. Especially CBC.
@Steve, never drank that stuff. We are mostly Moosehead drinkers down here. I've moved on to more exotic stuff, English imports, Guiness and a local micro brewery Picaroons is pretty good.
Hey remember when they could have been only 4 points out of the playoffs? At least they've stopped playing with our hearts. 3rd worst team in the league! First pick! Have the Habs ever had the first pick?
If you need a good laugh, just read some of the comments on the leaf thread at TSN or other leaf sites. Apparently, the leaf are now in danger of losing in the first round of the playoffs. Uh, guys, your team is in 10th, 4 pts out of the playoffs with every other team in the East (except the Habs) on their ass with no sign that this collapse will end (their only win in the last 10 games was in OT to EDM). The delusion is delicious. It almost makes this season worth all the pain.
You know...I just read an article about the Phoenix Coyotes that puts the season the Habs have been having into perspective. Back at the beginning of February they were mired in 12th place in the West and struggling - sound familiar? Anyway, they went on an 11-0-1 tear in February and now sit in 3rd place in the West, solidly in a playoff position. 23 of 24 points for the 'Yotes during that stretch. WTF!! The Hockey Hotbed that is Arizona is now going to have playoff hockey this year whilst Montreal is not. How does that make any sense at all?...I'm really struggling for answers. I watched the first two periods last night and finally gave up the ghost (sorry juce but this ain't happening no matter how loud we chant!) Gomex still ended up with over 9 minutes of ice time - I suspect he was benched in the third but he was on the ice for a good part of that 5 minute power play (and I use that word very lightly) in the second period. Why? Has anyone asked RC why he is still sending Gomez over the boards? And 6 shots a period doesn't win you shit. I know that the bolts play shutdown, boring hockey but the Habs have nothing to lose anymore this season - why the fuck were they not continually crashing the net, shooting the puck (actually hitting the net would also be a good start)then chasing the puck and shooting again and again.
KmaXXX, yes, they are simply that bad. There are no excuses anymore. Prepare yourself for a lot more of this. Maybe somebody who watched the whole game can help. I tuned in with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd period and it just looked weird. I'd see PFK with the puck in his own end, slowly coming up the ice, almost like they were setting up a PP rush. I'm guessing that Boucher had them playing that 1-3-1 thingie and just let Montreal come at them. I guess he figured that there was no way Montreal could break that system.
In all fairness, they are as bad as their record indicates, but I have to give props to Eric Cole. That guy is a hockey player. He's even better than I remember when he used to run roughshod over the Habs anytime Carolina played them. I feel bad for him being dropped into this mess.
Sorry to be so negative lately, they've broken my spirit.
Positive news: Nathan Beaulieu scored a goal and had two assists last night as Saint John won their 15th game in a row. That's right, 15 IN A ROW. I wonder if Gerard Gallant could learn some french?
My sis advised me about your site and the way nice it is. She’s right, I'm really impressed with the writing and slick design. It seems to me you’re simply scratching the surface when it comes to what you can accomplish, however you’re off to a fantastic start!
Get Well Soon M. Beliveau.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking only good thoughts, for me Number 4 is the Montreal Canadiens
ReplyDeleteGet well and be back for the next home game.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon Mr. Beliveau. You can't leave this earth after this horridn season. You deserve better. Stick around for a few more years, we'll get the cup back.
ReplyDeleteWell said.

ReplyDeletere: Rick Nash

Let him have his before his career is done.
I agree, but its kind of like the Lindros deal, your going to overpay.
DeleteDefinitely. But I guess that could be seen as Rick Nash's gift to the Blue Jackets...

Delete<-- fire in the belly
ReplyDeleteAmen to this post. Get better the original 4.
ReplyDeleteIs Nash a UFA this summer? If so I can just see TSN's big Free Agent day already. It'll be as annoying as last year's was with Brad Richards.
ReplyDeleteGet well Jean. Stick around and see us finally win number 25.
Not 100% sure but I don't think so. Actually, I believe he still has his huge contract for a few years...
DeleteYep...right up until 2018...7.8Mil cap hit...

It is quite unbelievable that Aaron Palushaj is making more money that David Desharnais...

Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!!
@halduf: I think I was thinking of Weber (from Nashville)I guess. Nash is going to be one miserable guy until they trade him.
ReplyDeleteConsidering that Pacioretty is the one that suggested DD come up, I recommend we make him head of scouting.
heh, that's good stuff Darth.
DeleteMy first year of watching the playoffs was Beliveau's last. I hope he's going to be okay, doesn't bear thinking about not seeing him in the Bell Center occupying his usual seat.

He is my greatest hero, there are none other like him on or off the ice, he was created and then they broke the mold.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers go out to this man.

DeleteDidn't the government offer him the governor-general's post some time ago? That says it all. All the best Mr. Beliveau.
DeleteTwice. Thought of his family first.

ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one, I'll say watch the HABS win and hear about the leaf losing.
DeleteI love it when the leaf goes on a long losing streak like now and listening to all the whining from the cotu mediots as moeman calls them. Especially CBC.
DeleteFuck if your still drinking Molson Export you missed the last part of the twentieths century.

ReplyDeleteKafkaka.
ReplyDeleteWhat has Gomez done to merit PP work? Or Ice time full stop for that matter? But PP time in a 2-1 game? Come on!!
ReplyDeleteWhose pockets is he lining?

DeleteCloser to Nail.
ReplyDeleteWay to be a broon goon pretzel.
ReplyDeleteI just can't understand allowing so much ice time to Gomez - and Kantberle for that matter.
ReplyDeleteWow, if only we could have the glory days of the Martin era back. Jesus.
ReplyDeleteCan they win by accident please? At least once?
Now that the trade deadline is over I thought for sure all the stress would be gone and we'd win everything from now on. I'm shocked.
