Betcha Quenneville gets fined. "I had a hard time, I saw exactly what happened," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "It was right in front of me all four (officials) missed it.
“If it is springtime, and there is a stretcher out there on the ice, Raffi Torres can’t be far away. From Milan Michalek, to Brent Seabrook, to Marian Hossa, to Jordan Eberle, to Andrew Ference, to Jan Hejda, to Nate Prosser, Torres has never met an opponent he had an ounce of respect for. Today he is the game’s preeminent head hunter. Today, Raffi Torres is clearly, the biggest punk in the game of hockey.”
How do you punish a player in the playoffs when they are not being paid. If it will help the team advance, then the rationale would be "go for it." I would propose that the suspension take effect immediately and the number of games suspended only start to count in the fall. Your out until four games into the regular season for example. Goon for now, Gone for now, gone for later. That would stop it. Isn't that what Clarence Campbell did that started the riot? (or the not so tranquil start to the Quiet Revolution).
Grigorenko is crap, MacKinnon and the Moose rule (until they play Saint John) and Cameron Critchlow has the game of his life - four goals and an assist on Drouin's winner. (Drouin was playing Midget A hockey in early December.)
Yes, we will have our asses handed to us by the Saint John Sea Dogs in the Q final, if we can beat Sidney Crosby's old team, but we showed the Habs that Grigorenko would be a wasted pick and that Patrick Roy was a Hall of Fame goalie but is a nutjob as a GM, coach and manager. Let him go to a future Q-city NHL team.
If things go as they should, the Maritimer will be enjoying a second straight Memorial Cup. (Bastards!)
Why did 45's have that big hole in the middle? Levon Helm needs our prayers. Preds have cred, powered by TiTs. For Gods sake let our players carry handguns for self defense.
He may have slow twitch muscles. Lets see how high he can jump on a box jump. Does Lego have NHL speed ? Moen? LeBrow might get faster as he gets stronger, he is still pretty young. He would be a junior if he stayed at Harvard. And if he hadn't fled Quebec, he might not be out of CEGEP yet.
@Steve - the article actually makes me want him even more..Brendan Gaunce is the classic good old Canadian Boy hockey player. He’s got great size and he is not afraid to use it. He is extremely effective using his body in the offensive zone, winning board battles, getting to loose pucks, and scoring the points from the dirty areas of the ice. Gaunce thrives in traffic, and combines his powerful physique with soft hands, good hockey sense and excellent passing ability to be a point per game player for the Belleville Bulls. Gaunce is an extremely hardworking player and we’ve rarely seen this kid take a shift off... This is the kind of player the Habs need - if not now - then very soon - he is only 17!
Thanks for the Links boys. I'm the guy who wrote the articles and a HUGE HABS FAN. Note that the ranks are site wide as we have a bunch of NHL writers so we all voted, but I'm compiling our notes and putting them in article form.
My personal preference for the Habs pick is Galchenyuk.
I think Gaunce would be a great player in a Habs jersey too, but we won't get a shot at him. Galchenyuk is flat out better so we should take him at 3. We'd need a pick in the 10-20 range to snag Gaunce and I don't see how we get that.
If he does start to fall into the 20s though, I'd advocate trading both 2nd round picks to move up and snare him. But I really don't think that he'll fall far enough for that to happen.
@Beaker love your evaluations. I am going to add your site to my carefully selected bookmarks, I think you will be between Kennedy Assassination and UFO sightings.
Can someone please start a facebook page where we can collect money and buy Lebrow a couple of hours of figure skating lessons. He has the most fucked up mechanics I have seen aside from Goon.
You need to make a guide to your nicknames, I've figured out most but not all of them yet.
As for guys with fucked up mechanics... thats what I have up today in Codi Ceci. Somehow he;s still a pretty fast skater, but the mechanics are fucked up, and its awkward as all hell.
Raffi Torres has been suspended indefinitely, pending an in-person hearing Friday, April 20, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today. The hearing, which had been planned for today, was deferred at the request of the player and the National Hockey League Players' Association.
“For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel they were nothing .... The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked ... and talked ... and talked. But nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled, the cities exploded .... A whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear .... Men began to feed on men.” They called it the NHL playoffs.

GO PHUCKTARDS! I am really sick of Sid's petulance. That shoving the glove maneuver made me really mad. Be a captain FFS! My feelings expressed nicely - http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2012/04/16/captain-crosby-and-his-poorly-timed-antics/
Wow...a lot of stuff to cover off. Firstly - RIP Dick Clark. I always enjoyed him. Secondly - thanks Steve for the Gaunce update - first I heard about his skating (or non-skating) ability - that is important! Thirdly - Never liked Torres - so an "indefinite" suspension is a good call.
And lastly - Moeman - You are a star! MLP is the only reason I became a Weeds regular. Gorgeous! (IMHO)

As much as I love my boy Sid, I think the "C" should have been lifted a while ago. In 2010 game 7 against us, he took a really stupid boarding penalty in the first minute of the game and we scored on the PP. The team just collapsed after that. In the case of Sid and Ovie, just because they're your best player doesn't mean they're captain material. Guy Lafleur was never captain. The C's should come off both of them. Come to think of it when the Pens won the Cup in 2009, Crosby didn't play in the third, he was injured on the bench.

I am getting a very bad feeling about the draft. The Leaf will make a deal with Columbus or the Oliers and take GGCHUK, leaving us at third with choice of GMOE, Radic Trakic, or a D. We take the D.
Kyle Turris is turning into a quality player, a former #3 pick overall. Took a few years for it to happen though. Gretzky nearly ruined the kid in Phoenix.
Jonathan Toews was a great pick at #3.
Jonathan Huberdeau will be a very good player for Florida, another #3.
Three (3) is my lucky number. The Habs can't lose at #3.
The Oilers will take Nail, BJ's take Ryan Murray and Canadiens take Gchuk. It's all good.

@Beaker - oh great, a lawyer. Just what we need around here. ;)
DeleteGreat work on the series btw. Loved your Grigs piece, I hope he's the pick. But he's not a Dman, which we know the Habs will take
I like Grigs too, just have Gally ahead on my personal preferences... however our other writers (not Habs fans) voted Grigs as the 2nd best prospect.
DeleteIts really close though, either of those two, or even Forsberg and I'll be happy.
I hope we don't take another D... but lets Remember Timmins has had 9 first rounders since taking over in 2003... 4 forwards 4 dmen and 1 goalie.
