- A hearty mazel tov to the Hall of Fame Class of 2012: Sakic, Sundin, new Caps' coach Oates, and Bure;
- A hearty fuck you to the Hall for ignoring Pat Burns once again. No seriously, fuck you. I have no desire to rant again, I instead refer you to my rant of two years ago (bonus: features FHFemmes commentors ripping apart a young innocent Steve in the comments) and HF10's Pat Burns eulogy is always worth a read;
- The Habs' development camp starts tomorrow, and it includes all the new guys from last weekend's draft. As camp is open to the public, I expect to see many many YouTube videos of GCHuk on the ice, and hopefully his sister off it;

- Here's the list of the rest of the RFAs who got qualifying offers;
- Congrats to Le Gros Bill (and some other players, I guess) for being the inaugural class of the Order of Hockey in Canada (whatever the hell that is);

I love this woman.
Happy Wet Wednesday everyone! I was going to do a lengthy post with lots of pics in the moeman tradition, but then the first thing I found was this:
Well, no way we can top that, so we're done!
OK OK two more things. Here's the new Kate video the gif comes from (you know, just for the record), and something wet for the ladies. EDIT: oh crap, YouTube has removed the Kate vid for violation of its nudity policy. So the gif is NSFW? Sorry everyone! Anyway, I'll get to the bottom of this, if it takes me days of watching similar vids to, uh. form a legal opinion. EDIT #2: Screw YouTube, I have found another source of the video. Truly now, Happy Wet Wednesday everyone.
A wet spot posted at midnight. Sweet. Mucho merci 29!
ReplyDelete@29 - Nice effort on WW. I will have to watch the vid later on as my new office porn policy has blocked that portion of the blog.
ReplyDeleteMorning everyone! Welcome home moe!
ReplyDeleteKmaXXX the vid was blocked by YouTube, no one could watch it. But I was not deterred, and have found it somewhere else. Thank goodness, because there really is a lack of NSFW vids on the interwebs
@29 its a dirty job and someone has to do it. Great WW.
ReplyDeleteI second the Burns exclusion.
I can not believe at one time I thought women hockey was the girl with the puck skating and everyone else standing around like Plyons. I can believe at one time I thought it was insulting to have women in the Hockey Hall of fame when real players cant get in there. I can't believe I think differently now.
Anna looks more an more like a real life GOT princess.

FWIW, no problem with Sundin eventually bagging an HHOF ring but he is no first year Roy, Lemieux, Gretzky, Sakic. He was a class act for a crass organization, represented his country and the game well (even when he hit a ref!) but a point a game player with no noticeable NHL prizes is not a first year nominee, unless its in tranna, the city of mediots.
ReplyDeleteSakic may have been the smoothest skater and set-up player we've seen in a while. Pure hockey smarts and talent. Id've voted for him and Burns and Roch Carrier for building the game we are passionate about.
No problem with Oates and Bure having waited this long to get in. Maybe if they played at the CotU, it've happened sooner.

Thanks Mr. Harper. Pretty soon we'll only have flights out of the Maritimes every second Tuesday and weekends.
ReplyDeleteNo to Doan or any expensive UFA's. There are two to get rid of first and then build from in house. I hope they bring back Staubitz as well, love his jam, juce likes his eyes. You need one nutbar on every team to keep the other nutbars honest.
Guess Darche Vader is finished as a Hab, BR and the anti-Habschambre will be in tears tonight. Not that I watch it.
No excuse for our Canadian railways to be stifled but the harper gov't could care less. All businesses need a review of what they offer their customers. Re-adjustment requires changes but I am for even more rail travel. Make it fast, fun and for all Canadians to enjoy. No excuse that it isn't an infrastructure that is modernized and funded appropriately. Imagine a VIA package of first class train travel from MTL to OTT to WPG to CAL to EDM and VAN with games. Then back! Monsieur Molson, get the rights for hockey train nights!
DeleteI mention Doan only because he is a name and has the size+skill+experience. His religion is of no interest to me when he laces up his skates. Signing him would likely give the anti-CHamberists multiple heart attacks. All good.
Staubitz stays. You read it here first.
Merci DarCHe.

Knowing that Monsieur Geoff Molson reads this blog (Salut mon homme!) I'd like to congratulate Trevor Timmins and his staff (now completely rebuilt with an actual infrastructure by DGMB) for what was initially and hopefully moving forward (see what I did there?) a fruitful 2012 Draft.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping for a gCHuckian spin and got it (also, is it me or is Anna a sweet added surprise or what!?).
Reading up on the other prospects leaves me even more excited. Hey Hockey Futures Dot Com, update your data.
I'll add that Bergevin's comments about Timmins' skill is a big plus. DGMB is giving his main new-player man the room and respect to keep strengthening our CH. As a fan, seeing Trevor's team being bulked up is a bonus.
Whilst here, a pat on the back to Bob Gainey for acquiring TT.
is it me or is Anna a sweet added surprise or what!?

Yup, Canadian government turned their backs on a Maritimer. We are the black sheep, the poor cousins, the welfare/EI bums. But, we started it all, we are the roots of the country.
DeleteGov't used to be able to come to an agreement to have its citizens serve out their jail terms in Canada (not sure if it was all countries).

I cannot find anything positive to say about Haper and his ilk.

ReplyDeleteBreaking news...well it's soccer so it's sort of like news only not - anyway...David Beckham has been left out of the English football squad for the Olympics!
ReplyDeleteDue to injury?
DeleteDue to being too old, too slow and too one-dimensional. Also, he plays in the US, which is a vastly inferior league to what the rest of the English team members play in. Ryan Giggs, for example, is older than Beckham (or about the same age - doesn't really matter) but still plays regularly for Manchester United. Beckham would be lucky to make the subs bench for any premier league team in the UK these days, never mind a top side like United.
DeleteIn short, (because I know most of you are rolling your eyes or slitting your throat at this point) - he's a spent force. Like his wife who used to be in a girl band, Beckham used to be on a great team.
Got it. From what I gather there are only 3 'overaged' players selected.
DeleteFrom Telegraph UK:
Pearce’s rejection of the former England captain’s claims came after twice travelling to the US to watch him play.
The coach is reported to have selected Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy and defender Micah Richards as his three overage players.
From our friends at the lastword.
ReplyDeleteI am getting this guy.
5) P.A. Parenteau, New York Islanders, Right Wing
2011-12 Salary: $1,250,000
2011-12 Stats: 80 GP, 18 G, 49 A, 67 Pts, 89 PIMs
The long time AHLer finally cracked the NHL full time at the age of 27. He would score 20 goals and 53 points for the New York Islanders in 2010-11. Proving those numbers were no fluke, he would actually improve his point total this season putting up 67 points. Parenteau is an excellent playmaker who has the ability to slow the game down in the offensive zone and control the puck for his team. He uses his high level hockey IQ, great vision and outstanding passing ability to make crisp tape to tape passes, and set up goal scoring opportunities for his teammates. His offensive arsenal is best used on the power play, but he is able to score points at even strength as well. Parenteau’s wrist shot is merely average in terms of velocity, but he has a good release and good accuracy which make it a dangerous weapon as well. Parenteau’s weaknesses lie in his skating ability which is merely average, and in his defensive play. Parenteau shows effort in his defensive zone work, however he is often on the loosing end of board battles, and his lack of quick feet can sometimes leave him a step behind the play.
Question is if he can work without Tavares.
DeleteThe Pittsburgh Penguins are expected to announce on Sunday that captain Sidney Crosby has signed a contract extension worth over $100 million with an average annual salary of close to $9 million.
ReplyDeleteCrosby, 24, was entering the final season of a five-year, $43.5 million US contract extension signed in 2007.
For each of the first four seasons of the last extension, Crosby was paid $9 million, and $7.5 million in 2012-2013.
Too rich for our blood.
DeleteJust about the only guy in the league who deserves that kind of dough. I would really like to see a 5 mill cap.
DeletePlayers who currently earn more will cry foul.
DeleteMaritimer going be sad
DeleteNot sad at all Steve. No way Super Mario or the little Napolean was going to allow the Pens or the NHL's meal ticket go north to a Canadian team. I always knew that. It was just a wet dream like Vinnie Lecav becoming a Hab.
DeleteLast year's painful ride got them GChuk and maybe another bad year will get them Nathan McKinnon, a sort of Sid clone. Hopefully GChuk will turn out to be the star they have been lacking so long.
No wonder tickets are unaffordable to the average Joe.
DeleteIt all depends where you live or want to go to a game. Tickets are actually reasonable in places like Phoenix or Sunrise, Fla.
DeleteNot so much in Montreal or Toronto where the fans are paying to keep the afore mentioned places afloat. I will never pay to go a game in Montreal again.
I remember working in the shipping industry (containers) and the office was given tickets weekly. The boss used to hand them out, usually to seniority people.
DeleteI got them a couple times. One time he gave 2 tickets to see the Allouettes. I went alone, fantastic seats right in the middle of the field, 1st row.
Not a lot of tears for Darche Vader. I admire what he did with little talent. I think putting him on the PP was the stake through Chouulas Heart. Take care Darche.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, he'll probably go to RDS, been on the panel alot during the playoffs.
DeleteThe problem with DV was they had too many players like him. Somebody in the bottom 6 has to be able to put the puck in the net once in a while. Eller is capable but that's it.
