And yippy for me - I've just found that my blackberry let's me make comments directly - couldn't do that with the last one. Now I can reply to Steve without being on my laptop or in the office - better watch out my son!
"It's an honor to be back. I got a vote of confidence from the organization," explained Price via conference call from his home in Williams Lake, BC. "They've shown a lot of confidence in me and now it's up to me to prove them right. I'm proud to wear the Canadiens jersey. I'm happy I get to play here for many more seasons. Now I can focus on my real goal of winning the Stanley Cup.
"The number '6' made sense for me and for the organization," explained Price of the length of his new deal. "I'll be 30 when my contract is up and that's when goaltenders hit their peak. I'm hoping when it's time to renegotiate my contract I have some good bargaining chips with a couple Stanley Cups under my belt."
To borrow an expression from the crease cowboy himself, who confirmed he's completely symptom-free following his late-season concussion, Price will be back in the saddle as early as next week.
"I feel good. I'm going to start on the ice next week for the first time since I was sidelined," explained Price, who is training in Kelowna with a few other NHLers including Josh Gorges. "I'm really excited for the season to start."
To the Stars for 4.5M. Seems like a one year deal. That means the Stars have two wingers who are 40 years old making a combined 9M against the cap this year, and they still only have one top 9 center in Derek Roy. Think Gainey would bite on Gomez again?
Hey folks, back from (as 29 says) the land of 56k modems. However I had no internet at all...so I thought. Sunday morning I look at my daughter's phone. "You get internet on that thing?" "Not here, I don't think" "Let me see that. Where's the friggin' internet icon?" "Right there!" "Oh thanks." fire it up. tsn.ca loads! WOOHOO! So still Sunday morning, I'm reading the tsn headlines on a 4" screen and I read "Canadiens hire Dagenais as assistant coach" I actually said "what the fuck!" out loud. Mrs Saint not impressed and worried that anarchy may have taken hold of our cities all at the same time. I explained the issue - sadly she's no hockey fan and could not give a rat's ass. Doesn't figure the wtf was warranted. So after much difficulty of trying to push on the little link and getting every story but the one i want, my daughter does the little 'stretch' thing on the screen and voila! Oh, it's Daigneault, not Dagenais. Well that's not SO bad. Sad it's not Robinson, but HEY, it's NOT Dagenais. He WAS killer in the shootout though.
Anyway, I was able to check through the next 2 days to see all the big Habs news. I'm OK with it all. CHeese is a gamble, but not a terrible one. Cube's back and I'm OK with that for 1 year. Prust not bad also.
Just waiting on PK. Apparently his agent is dealing with a lot of UFAs also, so I expect it'll be another week before we see a deal done.
And what's with these Kane rumours? Any teeth to those? I usually refuse to look at Eklund's site, but I see that Jagr was practically a lock to become a Hab. Saw MB's presser that said neither he nor Semen fit the style of what they're looking for.
Sometimes I am not sure of what I know, I have forgotten more than I have learned. But I am almost positive that DGMB has said " I am not buying out Gomez" What this means, who knows.
The notion that Ryan Suter and Zach Parise could be a package deal has been on the back burner throughout this process. The Minnesota Wild — the most likely landing place if they both sign on the same team — the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings are all suspected of having offered contracts to both players.
Your right Steve, Parise is right for Pittsburgh, on the shithole chance of winning matrix its top pick. Now for Suter still a relative younging, its a tougher choice, Minny should be tops on his list. So I say its between Pits and Chicago.
By the numbers Eyes guys are always using stats to tell you things you would not otherwise believe. But there is great correlation between observation and stats in the case of PFK and take that Kmaxx Lego.
“The fact the Canadiens even thought about me coming there, Marc asking Lou permission, that’s an honour,” said Robinson, who forever has taken the high road in discussions about his former team. “It honestly took me by surprise.”
It was totally MT2 who made the decision. Certainly Larry (I feel) is better qualified.
Again from Todd's article: 'If Larry Robinson was available to coach the defence and the Habs choose J.-J. Daigneault instead – that makes sense in what universe?'
Wow, Jack Todd doesn't seem happy about TFS. Though I agree, of course, they should have kept Staubitz.
Why is everyone saying the Canadiens got tougher when they sign mid-level tough guys Brand Prust, Colby Armstrong and Ryan White and part ways with Brad Staubitz – the only one in the group who actually scares people?
We played the hand we been dealt, no turning back now

BTW, brilliant headline moe.
Patrick Kane playing in MTL would be like the ending to Scarface, in my opinion...
DeleteAlso the Cabbies would probably beat him up.
Agreed. Looking forward to a wickedly wonderful wet Wednesday.
