Bullet points for what you missed while having nightmares of double-faulting on match point...
- We'll just ignore the blowing the 2-goal lead at home part and the ugly 3rd goal part; won't mention them again;
- Habs now 12-1-3 since the SLUG;
- 9 wins each on the road and at home overall;
- 2nd in the NHL in goals scored (huh?);
- One of only 3 teams to hit 40 points;
- N31's bullet points. She is right about the D backing up on that 3rd goal, but Carey still should have stopped it, but I said I wouldn't mention it again;
- PFK now leads NHL D in goals and is second in points. Every keeping-the-black-man-down pundit needs to revisit their mid-season Norris candidates.
Apparently Habs have scored first in 20 of their games. That tells me two things. First, they're getting much better starts than last year. And they're also much better at not blowing leads (last night not withstanding).
ReplyDeleteIt's actually very simple. The difference between this year and last is now they are allowed to attack and get a goal, not constantly try to prevent one. They were on their heels backing up for 60 minutes. MT2.0 says go get the first one fellas then we'll worry about defence. Chockula said try for 0-0 and get to the shootout and Carey will win it. Wait, what?
Deletevery true M, hockey is fun again, and we are winning again
DeleteMarch 25th, mark it on your calendars. After their game with the leaf that night, the broon will actually finally catch up in GP. Of course then the Habs play the next two nights, Pens and broons back to back again (odd how that works out, isn't it?) Also 'lucky' that the broons play 9/13 of their games in April at home (and 5 of their last 7). Just lucky, I guess.
ReplyDeleteBut it don't matter! FIRST BITCHES! GO HABS GO!

ReplyDeleteHere is Dita Von Teese modelling the world's first dress (and what a dress!) made on a 3D printer.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/07/dita-von-teese-3d-dress_n_2827453.html
Amazing. Simply amazing how they can develop a printer that can create an intricate body hugging garment, yet can't seem to make one that'll print out a simple word document on the first try.
Would not want to be DGMB this summer when he has to sign PFK to a long term deal. Sometimes the right move turns out wrong, and it sure looks like a long term at $5 million would have been a bargin.
ReplyDeleteGo Pens crush the life out of the leaf, go Broons finish their hopes like Lucy taking away the football at the last moment.
ReplyDeleteWhat's that Steve? Go Pens is somehow acceptable, but "go turds"?!?!?!?!. Really? Better go wash your mouth with some bleach or something stronger.
DeleteI hate the Bruins more than the leaf for sure. However, Boston will make the playoffs, so the greater pyschic damage is the leaf missing the playoff.
DeleteYou are dead to me, Steve.
DeleteGreat TMS short forum long fourm highlights presentation 29. TFS looked like shit on the Alfie goal as well. I guess it does not matter, if he makes the big save and lets in the cheap stuff or vice versa, as long as we win.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have rescinded the TFS designation for Price and having reviewed the TMS hi-lites here's what I noted. Price did make some key saves during the game, particularly late on Kyle Turris. The 3rd goal was not the worst one either, 5 holes are available from time to time. It was the other two that were entirely preventable, both high blocker side with Carey ON HIS FUCKING KNEES!!!!! If he is standing up facing Alfie tight to the post no way it goes in, he's got nothing to shoot at. Instead Carey is down and giving the top corner with basically no time left on the clock. Please, Mr. Goalie Coach, tell Carey to remain standing if possible. His hips will thank him 20 years from now as well.
DeleteBoth PFK and Lego have really stepped up this year. PFK main change is getting the shot on net, Lego has got the confidence to hold on to the puck, and not worry about the doghouse if he fucks up.
ReplyDeleteLego is turning into a beast. A big boy who skates really well, handles the puck skillfully and is getting really good on the cycle down low. Will go to the net with extreme prejudice if necessary. I would compare him favourably with Anze Kopitar and he is only 23. I agree that he has gained MT2.0's confidence and has been let out of the doghouse without much fear of returning. KmaXXX may disagree with all this.
DeleteThe M - Whilst I am the first to admit that I have been very hard on Lego at times, I have always said that if he played with the heart and conviction that he needed to and showed me that he wanted to be a proud member of the team and not a floater I would support him. Last season he had, what? - a couple of good games and a 4 goal game. But that was it. He was lazy, disinterested and generally he pissed me off each time I saw him. This year, that has changed. He's become the number one/two centerman the Habs need and his heart is in the game he is bringing to the rink every night. Last year, that shootout the Habs would have lost because he would have done some bullshit dipsy doodle move and missed the net. (I caught myself actually saying that last night before his shot). This year, he went straight at the net (well, almost straight) and put a beauty move on the goalie. A proper shootout goal. His first goal of the night was a grinder-type one where he crashed the net and dug it up and in. Last year he doesn't score that goal! So I am very much pro-Lego based on what he has done for me lately!
DeleteI have to admit I was close to giving up on him at times. But I am glad he is living up to his trade value.
DeleteI applied some of my high level math to PFK stats. It shows only he an Letang are doing a better than point a game pace.
ReplyDeleteLucky number 7, more wins and lock on playoffs
ReplyDeleteWhen they put the bronze statue of a player in front of the Bell Center, they are all the same colour.
ReplyDeleteI am buying Jagar a second and a second level prospect. Now that its clear TFS has AAHD,(attention disorder) we will need his sure urology skill to plan the parade.
ReplyDeleteanother bonus is how much he will teach Lego, DDD and gCHuck.
DeleteLike I said yesterday Steve, who does he replace? Ryder? And, a 2nd round pick is way to valuable to give up for a 50 year old. They need them to draft a goalie for down the road.
DeleteWhy cant he play fourth line and PP? Look at all the chances Cheese has had this year, if that was Jagar at least half are goals.
DeleteOK, fourth line and a Urologist role I'm in.
DeleteHe is too old.
DeleteWe need young. Don't forget we are in a rebuilding year. Keep our picks. Although PleXXX and Yagermeister had chemistry together...
Tinordi! is coming!
ReplyDeleteTinordi is coming!
ReplyDeleteTin Tin, in town for the premire of the new Oz movie?
DeleteIs he bringing snowy? Does that mean we do not need a nickname for Pattern. Any good ones for Dumont, he looks like a keeper and is pure wool.
DeleteDumont = Digger.
Delete+1 for Digger
DeleteDoes Tintin coming mean that Rafa is out for longer than we all thought?
DeleteI am offering up all these insightful comments and nobody cares, not even Steve. I forgot to mention, to me, PFK is now.....TFS!! A star is born! He would be on pace for 20 goals and 80 points in a full season, serious numbers. Norris trophy numbers. The mediots still like Celine better.
ReplyDeletewe care we really do
Deletethe M, I care but can't post for shit! Look what I did with Tin-Tin, not intentional.
ReplyDeleteI never doubted PFK even when got flak for not signing from fans, media and haters, I never agreed with any trade talk either. He has 20pts in 21 games and some still won't give him his due.
Hey guys, not only are Habs first, but they are 1pt behind the Quacks and 4pts behind ChiHox. Woohoo!
GO Habs Go!!
Thanks juce!
DeleteYou know, I'm softening my position on His Flashyness. The jury is still out tho. He appears to be incorporating some humble into his style. He makes a good first pass and his slappers are starting to be on the net. You still see him holding sticks and he usually ends up on his ass when battling in the corners but I'm thinking he might turn out OK after all. We'll see. Lego is a beast. First place baybee.
ReplyDeleteGo Habs!
I think it's a good thing he has toned down the enthusiasm. He's a damn good hockey player and the best is yet to come. A heavy shot and the accuracy is coming.
DeleteAnonymous, think you're slow loading- ha, I'll trade places with you.
ReplyDeleteToronto Sports Noobs have His Flashyness at No 2 and Diazzeling at No 12.
ReplyDeleteOf note would be His Odourness The Shaved Ape knuckle drags in at No 14. Ooops sorry Beaners.
Also of note is in the rookie catagory No 1 is Gally and No 3 is Gchuck. Way down the list at No 26 you find The Nail ... Go Trevor.
Deleteand where is the leaf number one consuesus pick, oh he is playing jr. In 58 games he is a minus 7 although he is nearly a point a game pace,

DeleteIt has to be said, Lego last night was the best center Montreal has had since Le Gross Bill, I rename him LGL Le Gross Lego.
ReplyDeleteBobby Smith was a pretty good center also. So was Kirk Muller.
DeleteBobby Smith is probably a good match, but as I understand it Lego outskills him. I remember Bobby Smith, I dont remember him stickhandling in a phone booth.
DeleteWhats going on is everyone wants KaKa and DGMB is afraid to trade him. So now he know pattern can do the job, and if Tin Tin can as well, look for KaKa to go bye bye.
ReplyDeleteYou know if DGMB can relocate KaKa he qualifies for some kind of award or tribute ... perhaps a reference in a Neil Diamond song. That would be splendiferous. My Chester senses are tingling, something is in the works. Normally I only get tingling when Mrs Chester wears that black thing .... I feel like a trigger is about to be pulled.

DeleteI think that was a rumour started by an Irish protestant.
DeleteNice White selection 29.
ReplyDeletegracias! they really rock it
DeleteJack White rocks, he is a magical talent. However for me he is squeeky in a bad way. Listen to him do loving cup with Mick and its magic, I think like our own PFK, he needs to pick his spots.
DeleteI am afraid we might have to trade PFK, we can no longer afford him. He is going to be asking 7 or 8 Mill. Why did we not sign him to a long term deal?
ReplyDeleteNot to worry, they'll move Lego to make room for PFK(new TFS).
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteSeriously...Steve you post shit like this to wind me up.please let me explain - I read most comments off my BB so there is no linking of comments to a particular "stream" - and when you get on a reply role I find myself going mad trying to follow the thread. PFK is the future and aint going nowhere. Lego is not the new Bobby Smith - he is better than Bobby Smith - there I said it! I love Lego - if I was a chick (with real bad taste and a "footballers wife" menatality) I would shag the ass off of Lego. (Someone who understands Englishisms can explain that to you). I just spent four hours in a wine cellar in westminster (for a work related function) so all of this makes perfect sense.
DeleteI love everybody, including Corneliis and Anon. (Fucking dickhead!)

Deletestopped at the SAQ and ran into three Beaners, one of whom was wearing a Bs sweatshirt. I said "nice shirt, see you in the playoffs", and laughed. he laughed, then he punched me. true story (well except for the punching)

DeleteAnyone know how that Cup Parade through the streets on tronna went last week?
ReplyDeleteCancelled due to too much stepped-in shit on the streets.
DeleteEver wonder where the author got the inspiration for "The Emperor Has No Clothes"? He just visited Tronna in February.
DeleteGo Pens -tonight only.
ReplyDeleteFlorida, try to be Panthers tonight.
Shhh, be verwy qwiet, it's the ACC.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteFucking Fleury.
ReplyDeleteC'mooooooooooooon alley cats. 2-1
ReplyDeleteAnd go Jets! Win tonight, leaf lose (inevitable), Jets are only 1 back with a game in hand.
ReplyDeletehow can the Pens not score against the fucking Leaf. CMON SID
ReplyDelete2-1 Pens now. Suck it leaves
ReplyDeleteWith less than 2 mins left. LOVE IT. Though, it does tie up the Pens with the Habs. Game in hand, though.
DeleteI will happily finish 2nd or 4th if it means the Laff collapse
DeleteFucking Panthers. Win a fucking game, assholes!
ReplyDeleteIn the Panthers defense, they're terrible
Deleteheh, eat it leaf.
ReplyDelete3-1 Pens, EN goal. ACC just collectively cried
ReplyDeleteThe refs tried there, giving them a PP in the last minute (didn't see it obviously, so maybe it was deserved...like every other PP the leaf get in the last minute of every fucking game).
ReplyDeleteLET'S GO BLUE JAYS! *clap clap clap* LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!
#10 looks younger than #99.
ReplyDeleteGuy looks like he could strap on the blades and scream down the right side and fire a winner
DeleteThe man speaks hockey and speaks it well. Knows it, lived it, won it.
DeleteTo think wads like pjstuck get airtime.
3-1 Jets final. Torts may completely lose it
ReplyDeleteI hope the Jets make it in just because they're the Jets, but also because I'd rather face them than the Rangers. Yeah, the Rangers have been sucking it up so far but I don't want to see Nash and Lundqvist in the post-season. I think we can all agree we don't want to see the Islanders...
DeleteInteresting fact: Only 4 Habs have a minus rating (Armstrong -2, MOEn -2, DDD -2, and Vodkov -1 (Weber is -1 but has only played 2 games). I don't put too much stock in +/-, but that just seems amazing to me. Weren't they all minus last year?
ReplyDeletePK was +9.
