That shit don't happen, it's created. Price fucked up, big time. He was not ready, not even close. I think his biggest problem is he does not focus for games of this magnitude. It's just, oh well, I'll do my thing and chill and be cool. Fuck that, you know those fuckers are going to come at you hard in front of a national audience. Be ready!! You weren't.
I said it before, I'll say it again. The guys came out fighting on Saturday. They were dominating the play, pressing and getting close. But it's hard to keep that intensity level up when you're afraid of the puck even entering your zone.
What bothers me is that the Montreal media is so intent on protecting precious Price that they have thrown the full blame on the whole team. "They allowed a 2on1 in the 2nd period! Obviously it was a total meltdown!" Well, no. They were trying to get back into a game that both their goalies had no interest in winning from puck drop.
It's just one game, I'm not saying Price is a terrible goalie or that he's always to blame. But I'm very tired of this DEFEND PRICE AT ANY COST and anyone who questions him ISN'T A REAL HABS FAN attitude. The guy hasn't been the franchise saviour, he hasn't really carried the team and he hasn't produced a playoff run. That doesn't make him a bad guy, a bad goalie or imply that he'll never be able to do any of those things. But I'm tired of being called a Price hater simply because I don't live in a fantasy land where Price = Roy. Sorry, Price=/=Roy, at least not yet. He's a stable goalie, he'll get better, and I want him on our team. But I'm not going to start saying PK is to blame for Saturday night because he gave up a 2on1, or that Moen should be blamed for not fighting, or that Gio hitting the post is to blame. Price is to blame for the loss. Not every loss, but for Saturday night.
I'm not going to accept that this whole team is bad and that we need to panic. Montreal was the better team for most of the game, but their goalie let them down. It happens. Denying it, though, makes us just as bad as leaf fans who think Reimer is a Vezina candidate or broon fans who thing Marchard is the best player in the league.
Now, let's get over it and GO HABS GO. Kill those Phucktards on Monday!
So the rumour is that some of the boys, including Price, were hungover from the night before doing shots at a vodka bar. That is crazy enough to actually explain why he couldn't stop a beachball last night. There was no reason for him to get beat on the 2nd and 3rd goals. I don't blame Budda for his first goal coming in cold like that.
Thanks guys for behaving like professionals and embarrassing your fans like that.
hangover excuse works for me, hey they just clinched a playoff bearth after ending last last year, they have been playing akiller schedule, all work and no play, get out of the system before the playoffs.

ReplyDeleteJust to clarify, I don't hate Price and I don't expect him to win every game. But for God's sake give your team at least a chance to win.
DeleteI hate the idea of "sports psychologists" and the like, but he clearly needs one
DeleteSeems to have helped LEGO.
