The thug said die, and I said in this wonderful life the Montreal Canadians would make you wonder why. The thug said merry Christmas and I walk the streets contemplating why?
I thought aboot it and the battle between nihilism and organization is real. How many structured events can you handle before your steam whistle blow off the handle. http://thinkingaboot.blogspot.ca/2013/12/battle-between-nihilism-and.html
Hope they can win one for the ol' Maritimer tonight. Going out for a birthday dinner tonight. Thought they were playing the Predators tonight not the Desert Dogs or did I miss the meaning of this thread? Get along little dogie! Could they score more than one fucking goal at least??!!?
Drool. I could eat an entire pan of Nanaimo bars and not feel a bit guilty...if not perhaps a touch sick.
Christmas party tonight. My annual tradition of supplying the Jalapeño poppers continues. Half a pepper stuffed with cream cheese and sprinkled with zesty old cheese, wrapped in bacon. This year for a change, I've brushed them with some Thai Kitchen Sweet Chile Sauce. Divine. And right on cue, there's the oven beeping at me. have fun all and gyfhg!
Coyote, NOT ugly Tonight the habs are visited by the Phoenix Coyotes and if I were a betting man, I would bet this is going to be a tough game for your habs to win. Why do you ask?, well because the Coyotes are hard to play against. Nobody looks forward to a game against them, their record is 18-9-5 in the tough western conference. A conference where there are less players 5'9" and under than the montreal canadiens have. If you look at the Coyotes current roster, who would you like to have, who would you swap out star wise? Would you trade yandle for subban?? Not on your life. Would you trade smith for Price?? No way man. Ribeiro for plekanec?? Don't think so. Vrbata for Pacioretty?? I'll pass on that one. Hanzal for Eller?? Not likely. Gallagher for Vermette?? Ahhhhh, NO. Markov for Morris?? Nada. Then what gives, why are Phoenix so much more difficult to play against than Montreal? It is the supporting cast that makes the difference. Maybe you would be more receptive to the following; Klinkhammer for Desharnais? In a New York minute. Moss for Briere? Hmmmmmm Doan for Gionta??? A miracle if it happened. Stone for Diaz/Bouillion???? Absolutely. You get my point, it is the supporting cast that makes it easier to wear down the opponent, your canadiens don't win puck battles, it is a series of one and done shots on goal. There are rumors of Bergevin searching for a top six forward who can score, which would be great but if that player is not prepared to retrieve his own puck, maybe we should hold off on that cause we know what that looks like now don't we. Therrien is saying that his team is worn down by a grueling schedule, funny we don't hear that from the Coyotes, I am sure they will be ready tonight. Losing is ugly, winning.........not so much. Alright, after 22 hours of travelling and being bumped from my reserved aisle seat to the middle for the 13 hour leg of the journey, I am enjoying my first drink and a nice lead. Used whatever energy I had on the niece and nephew, hope to make it to the end of the game. Go Habs G...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Orangeman, the main thing is your HERE. Lots of flights are starting to be tres delayed. I'm pretty happy my daughter is home for Christmas break from her teaching gig and - she brought home a 'grandchild' - a dog she rescued and she's so beautiful! Given the dog's history (likely abused) she is very timid and fearful the poor thing. I just worry when the school year is up and they come home, no pets in the lease. We'll cross that when it comes.
Came home from my birthday dinner....nice appetizer of wings, veggie rolls, dark nachos, sweet potato fries and some raw veggies....new Moosehead beer - Boundary - between a blonde and dark, nice flavour. Main course of huge breaded Digby scallops with baked potato and a coleslaw. Everything delicious. Cards and gifts from Mrs. M and my two boys. Turn on the TV and the leaf are losing, Reimer is sulking on the bench after being yanked and lo and behold my Habs scored 3...countem' 3 goals!!! I must have crossed over onto another plane of existence....the Fringe. I like it.
Thanks for the bday wishes all! Juce, didn't you celebrate one recently or is it coming up soon?
You're very welcome, the M, Yes mine was the 15th but the Habs just didn't know how to treat a girl on her birthday did they? They'll give us both a comined birthday/Xmas gift tonight!! Go Habs Go, Go Sagittarians!
Kick known goon Markov out of the game, but ignore slew foot that led to the goal. Joke of a league. As long as these nothing teams win, right Buttman.
Ok, I've been slightly distracted - house full of daughter's young-adult friends (like old times). Can someone tell me WTF Vodkov got a misconduct for? I mean seriously - Vodkov? after he seemed to be hit in the numbers? maybe slew-foot that lead to that goal????
The fucking leafs must have put their ORA on the job!
Proof: Dan O'halloran born Essex, ONTARIO, Dean Morton born Peterbourough, ONTARIO, Mark Shewchyk, Hamilton, ONTARIO, and last but LEAST: Pierre Racicot, born Verdun, Quebec (losing battle vs ONTARIO)
Fuck you ORA and Harper's laffs.
Does anyone think it's a coincidence that Harper 'writes' a book about hockey and lo and behold, the new $5 bill launched by the Canadian Mint no longer depicts a tribute to the late, great RRRocket RRRichard?? but now depicts space? Maybe something to do with Chris Hadfield, born Sarnia, ONTARIO saying from space that tonronto is the centre of the hockey universe??
All you people dissing little DDD calling him lovechild and stuff like that should be feeling very sorry this morning. http://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2013/12/21/5234462/david-desharnais-hero-mode
Thanks Davey, I know I rag on you but you made me happy last night. They say a 2-0 lead is the worst one in hockey. The Habs proved that 3-0 is not that great either. Good thing DD pulled it out for them or MT would have had them doing wind sprints this morning.
Good here. And back to little Davey, He has essentially won two games this year by outstanding play, so I guess for his thirty seconds of great, he earns his pay even though he has hours of suck.
Reading the comments over at HI/O, apparently there are rumours of a Patches trade....mostly ridiculous shit, like the Islanders would ever trade Tavares or the Flyers, Giroux. Makes for entertaining reading anyway. If MB were to ever move Patches I would bet he insist that DD be included in the deal. Money in money out. Listening to some of the talking heads, including Nonis, it's clear that's the only way a trade can go down these days. I don't see any significant moves being made by MB.
Unless MB thinks we are on the cusp of the cup I see no reason to trade. If we can sell some trash for draft picks sure. Murray, Vampire Dan, Moeman, Gio, RBQ, and even Gorges I would let go for a second. I think we are at least two years away from contending. So why keep parts that will never be used.
The scenario I am picturing is...he does nothing. Unless there is a complete and utter collapse they will make the playoffs. They are 11 points clear of the 9th place team, so a .500 record the rest of the way should theoretically get them in. If that's the case MB may add a 3rd liner or tough defenceman at the deadline and Mr. Molson will collect his gate money for a game or three. Timmins will make his pick at 16th and the cycle continues. This time next year we will all be a year older and still bitching about a lack of scoring, inconsistent D and MT2.0's line combinations. The only thing different will be what channel I can watch it on. Maybe.
Next year should be much better team. Belidaou and Longfellow on Defense, Murray and Cube gone. Gio replaced by Colberg or Sven the Swiss miss three. With Belidou, Dazling and PFK on the back end, you will see much more many goals. With Lego and gCHuck both hitting prime time our forwards are going to be a hard bunch to handle.
As frustrated as I get from time to time watching this version of the Habs, it could be worse. You gotta feel for Oilers fans, what a shitstorm that organization is and has been for some time. Picking 1st over all three years in a row and they are still a crap team with no goaltending or defence. I just read Marc Spector's column at Sportsnet.ca and I guess we should feel fortunate to have a team with a decent record. PFK was on Hockey Central @ Noon today and he sounds in great spirits. Probably still laughing at Boone's photoshop of Scrooge and Tiny Tim. No Habs tonight, wish I could watch that Rangers/Leaf game.
Eakins is an idiot, he called out the fan who threw their sweater on the ice saying they are not welcome. I guess he never heard the adage 'don't bite the hand that feeds you'. I wonder what Lego thinks?
