Re: Wax On! Wax Off! You could polish a thousand cars by hand but that won't turn you into a karate-ka.... or a karate kid. More Hollywood feel good silliness. It took me 8 years of hard training to get my first degree black belt. Then three more for second degree. Unfortunately some shoulder injuries and advanced years have slowed my progress. I'm still working on No. 3.
ReplyDeleteGreat Sexy Friday by the way. I have no dog in this fight but will watch some footy, after the U.S. Open anyway.
Cheers all!
No significant Habs news of late but I found this:
ReplyDeleteThe Gatineau Olmpiques announced that Martin Reway has signed a contract with the Czech Extraliga’s HC Sparta Praha. Reway will return to the Czech Republic after spending the last two seasons in the QMJHL.
One less (future) smurf for the Blue Room I guess.
He is actually a Slovak but they can play in the Czech Republic as well.
DeleteIf we follow the LA formula and I not sure its 100% transferable we are allowed one player under 6 ft on the team. I think one player under six feet on the ice at one time would be enough.
DeleteTGISF. Ooooh, There's room for me beside that mad man...he beckons. CHarger always tres CHic out of uniform.MM always a great CHoice. Great SF moeman,
ReplyDeleteGreat SF Moeman. Blame it on Rio!
ReplyDeleteGuy in the hammock really has good taste.
ReplyDeleteGo Kings! Step on their throats and send the Rags back to Broadway.
ReplyDeleteOffseason sucks. Got my first round of golf in today though. Rough front 9 and a sore back. Gotta invest in a hot tub.
ReplyDeleteChicken almost took Quick's head off FFS. At least he got a penalty. Fucking Rags.
ReplyDeleteDoughty cross-checked 2x, refs do nothing and he hits back and ends up in the box.
ReplyDeleteChicken lifts Matt King's stick into Zucarello's face and King end up with the penalty and they score to tie it in the 2nd.. Fucking refs.
ReplyDeleteThey called in the Calvary - seriously.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/tsnjamesduthie/status/477648316545527808/photo/1
And the Kings win the Stanley Cup! FUCK YOU RAGS!
ReplyDeleteDown 0-3 to the Sharks in the first round, LA ultimately wins it all. Pretty determined bunch.
DeleteHey Guys and gals...Kings win the Stanley Cup. Nice...lovely SF Moeman
ReplyDeleteDie Rags, it should have been us and think we would have gone at least six
ReplyDeleteFuck that, I think the Habs would have won it all. The Montreal mystique would have come through in the finals. Fuck you Gary.
DeleteRight you are , the M, plus we have Ginette. I B E L I E V E.
DeleteThis will warm your hearts, it sure touched mine. Chris Sutter, Coache's son raises the Cup.

he Montreal Canadiens signed head coach Michel Therrien to a four-year contract extension through the 2018-19 season on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteSalut Lebrow.
The Montreal Canadiens traded forward Louis Leblanc to the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday in exchange for a conditional fifth-round selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
The Habs have had some good fortune with 5th rounders haven't they?...as for the other point you mentioned...I have no words...
Deletefear the collapse, the players seem to play for him now, but everyone has had a crazy boss who seems to do arbitrary and stupid things and sooner or later the axe just falls.
DeleteNot that it was ever in doubt but congrats, Kings! Two Cups in 3 yrs. Top notch team all around. I wonder how far off the Habs are... Sigh.
ReplyDeleteSayonara, Lebrow =) just didn't rlly pan out. Oh, well.
Four more years of eMpTy :S ehhhhhhh.
Almost done w/ OITNB =) loving season 2!
One thing we know is Montreal as currently constructed can't go 4 hard rounds. Tampa was a push over and the extra rest helped in the Boston series which wore the Habs out. They didn't have enough left in the tank for New York, who had nothing left for LA. Montreal has to get bigger. HAS TO.
DeleteYuck, 5 more years of eMpTy? He'll never last that long. I give it 3 tops, then he'll be scouting for MB and Timmins somewhere.
Poor Louis Leblanc, supposed to be the next great French hope, I never saw him as more than a 3rd line winger, and now he got passed by in the depth chart by about 20 other prospects. Good luck in Duckville.
Louis was a reasonable choice and a high first round pick is always a gamble. So I do not fault the pick, and if they go with Brendan Lemieux and he flops as well, is that insanity or just filling the need for institutional memory. One thing we see is that size is important, but even more important is skating.
Delete4 yrs + 1 more on current deal = way too long. I get that it's a reward for the decent playoff run but what would he have got if they made it to the final?!
ReplyDeleteIt`s due to a decreased talent pool, you know a coach having to speak French.
DeleteHappy Father's Day to all our FHF Dads!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Merci!
DeleteI second that emotion!
DeleteMerci!
DeleteGo Dads Go!

ReplyDeleteI'll but into DGMS's idea of long term for the sake of consistency but 4 years is too many. Also, salut Louis.
ReplyDeleteWith everything going on what with a number of RFA's, UFA's to decide on, I certainly wouldn't want to be in DGMB's shoe but that's why I'm not a GM - phew.
DeleteI'm torn by the 4 years, on the other hand, I tell myself Carlyle got 2 years for squat, but then again, that is the leaf, and coaches are hired to be fired and it doesn't affect the cap,
R.I.P. Chuck Noll
ReplyDeleteTerry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Lynn Swan, Mean Joe Greene, the Steel Curtain, they had a pretty darn good team back then.
DeleteRIP he ruled the golden years of the NFL

ReplyDeleteActually I hate award shows, but I might just tune in from time to time for PFK. Too bad he missed out on Vegas last year.
DeleteThe Next Level, Hosted by PFK, features 10 Canadian Atheletes.

Lets look at what we left on the table to get Louis Louis Louis, and it should have been obvious at the time the kid could not skate at an NHL level. Note to Le Club du Montreal, get a figure skating coach to teach these kids how to skate and to evaluate picks who will never learn,
ReplyDelete19. Chris Krieder, major asshole yes but maybe Montreal could have saved him
21. John Moore another asshole but still a top four D
30. Simon Depres (what was Timmins blind)
33. Ryan O Rielly( I excuse not picking an O'reilly)
39. Jacob Silverbierg
38. Alex Chaison (6' 4" 35 points for Dallas get some glasses to Timmins before this draft. Maybe being born in Montreal was to obvious a choice)
60. Tomas Tatar - the name alone says first round pick. Thats the name of a future star. Just like Boone Jenner. I dont need to remind everyone about Loseman in Buffalo, and that poor kid the wild drafted Dumba. Satan now that would have been a tough call.

DeleteMake that two.
DeleteThe Winnipeg Jets filed club-elected salary arbitration on restricted free agent Michael Frolik on Sunday.
The club made the decision before the 5pm et deadline on Sunday and decided to go to a mediator.

ReplyDeleteDont shoot the messenger but I have some bad news for the 2014 season. You do not have to be a weatherman to see a tank in the forecast.
ReplyDeleteokay its not up to Golden Girl Standards but it is a T shirt worthy graphic IMHO
Delete@TSNBobMcKenzie: Last I heard, and it is a fluid situation subject to change, Andrei Markov was asking MTL for a 3-year deal worth $6M per year.
ReplyDeleteI am fine with that as long as their is no no trade clause. Mentors are worth their weight in gold and I think he is one. If we are not cup contenders at the trade deadline we can trade him for a first to a team that wants to get over the hump.
DeleteRanked tied for 2nd among NHL defensemen in Nov. in assists (11) and tied for 3rd in points (12)… Obtained 2 assists and 5 blocked shots on Dec. 31 at CAR… Recorded 2 goals (including the game winner) and a +2 differential on Jan. 11 vs. CHI… Led the team in Jan. in average time on ice per game (24:27)… Suited up for Russia at the Olympic Games in Sochi… Led the team in Feb. with 5 assists… Tied a personal-high with 3 assists on Nov. 1 at MIN, on Nov. 27 at BUF and on March 1 vs. TOR… Had a 5-game assist streak (Feb. 6 to March 1), posting a 0-7-7 record… Led the team in March in time on ice per game (25:12) and blocked shots (36)… Led the team in April in ice time per game (26:11)… Blocked 9 shots on April 20 vs. TBL… Set two career personal-highs in the playoffs in assists and points (0-3-3) on May 27 vs. NYR…
DeleteI would like to see him stay.
I'm OK with that deal. I think he can still play for three more. Philthy just extended 39 year old Kimmo Timmonen for a year, Vodkov has a couple more good years left in him.
DeleteOtherwise I could see the Oilers snapping him up.
According to Renaud Lavoie, the Canadiens were fined $25,000 for not following concussion protocol when Iginla hit PatCH'es head into the glass.

RIP Tony Gwynn - one of my favourite non-Expos. Stay away from the chew, kids.
ReplyDeleteRIP
DeleteYup, one of the classiest. Sad to see him leave at such a young ge but he admitted himself that the chew did him in.
DeleteWow, RIP, way too young. Indeed a classy guy.
Delete"Today I met with Shawn and I informed him that we will not be re-signing him," said Chiarelli. "I told him that he was one of the most significant acquisitions that we made."
ReplyDelete2013-14 bloopers, though I would hardly call kidG getting bounced around a blooper.

Weise gets 2 year deal. woohoo!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Dale signed. Now, MB better get his ass in gear re: Markov. Washington is looking for a high end defenceman and I'll bet Ovie would love to have another Russian playing in D.C. with him.
ReplyDeleteNice. He's a Hab at heart (is Vodkov)? Also does Dale have a FHF nickname?
Deletesign Vodkov, and Dale is CHip (In Dale)
DeleteJust saw CHip signed for a mill a year. What a bargain, he is IMHO second/third liner not fourth.
DeleteAlso, my new fave drink is the dark and stormy. I just love ginger beer!
ReplyDeleteVodkov 6 Mill for three years. Yes we must do it.
ReplyDeleteCHip with LEGO and RBQ were a great line in the playoffs. They may have been the No. 1 line for a while after Vanish disappeared and DDD wasn't effective anymore. I still say if DD is the perceived No. 1 center.... the Habs are fucked.
ReplyDeleteDDD is like a puppy that grew up to be a dog that had all kinds of hunting skills, but the big dogs got most the game.
DeleteI think he had in hockey terms a heroic playoffs. But he is not a number one center, he is not a scoring threat.

ReplyDeleteCongrats to "CHuck" for going Kanuck. Best Wishes to you and Missy.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the score.com Bruins are facing $4.75M salary cap penalty in 2014-15 due to bonus overages.
ReplyDeleteGood-bye ratface.
DeletePFK will be among the presenters at the NHL awards - look out Vegas!

ReplyDeleteThe Canadiens will retire Guy Lapointe’s jersey in 2014-15. A press conference involving Geoff Molson and G. Lapointe to come on Thursday.
Big three hanging baby!!
DeleteTank did someone see a Tank. It will be way harder for us the the leaf, but if I am chief, lots of things would change, like acid for the playoffs and X for the regular PTSD. In the NHL today, you got to have elite talent and develop it like a perfect flower if you expect a bloom.
ReplyDeleteAt 18 can you pick those flowers out. Not so much in the past but big data seems to rule. And I have a mathematical mind.
Wow, I bet this guy regrets his tattoo now that Thorton's gone, but to me the best part is, he's too dumb to realize that he also immortalized PFK. Idiot.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/522921
Not that we needed proof, but yeah, broon fans are DUMB. What i see is PK's helmet and a Habs logo 4x the size of a Bruins logo. Dumbass.
DeleteSaku not being re-signed by the Ducks. Every iota of me is saying sign him to a one-year contract so he can retire as a Hab. But the reality is that's not a good idea. Sadly.
ReplyDeleteHe could replace Biere.....
DeleteIf things work out well 29 will see her in caucus.
ReplyDeleteThere is only one road to take this year. And that is the tank route. Last year was our moon shot and it crashed. Vanish was misused by our Napoleon and he pouted instead of bleeding poutine. You can not replace that talent, and ergo tank is the exit plan. DGMB is a pretty good hockey mind. Vodkkov, PFK, Gionta are not irraplacable. PFK is a gamble but he is not Guy Lapointe.
