Blob Mackenzie says replays weren't very good, he had to view one that he found from RDS which had an ice view which shows there was definitely intitial contact to the head and believes a suspension will be handed out. Good on RDS.
ReplyDeleteCover up from other cockroach broadcasts.
The Buttman Pumpkin. Reading the posts from last nights game was a great experience almost like I was there. For all the change for all the new CHaracter IMHO the system remains the same. No I am not talking about the US midterm elections, I am talking about TFS. TFS is the system the system is TFS. You could put a monkey behind the bench and I dont think the result would change much, except more interesting lines. The five D line. Four defencemand and DDD. A kind of game of thrones offence. The LEGO line, all players born within a thousand miles of the factory.
ReplyDeleteMy point is why even pretend to play defence. Let Carey stop it thats our D system, always has been always will be. The shift is that TFS is now godlike.
So lets just concentrate on offense. Lets just go for it run and gun. When God has your back, attack attack attack!
Boo!
ReplyDeleteHappy SF and Happy Haloween FHFers.
Halloween has become the most ironic Holiday. The real world is more scary than trick or treat.
DeleteWell, I got through the first period. The leaffools on Sportsnet are ridiculous. Jason York (why is he a Habs analyst?) trying his best to deflect the Western Canada foolishness this week, disagreeing with John Garrett (wtf is he still on tv?) about the hit to the head. No it wasn't "intial contact" to the head plus there were three clear strides after the puck was gone before the hit. For the most part 'the league' hates the Canucks almost as much as the habs, so i think we'll see a 2 game suspension.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, take the .500 record and get the hell out of Dodge.
Prust said his hit was 0.8 of a second late, NHL standard is 0.6
DeleteA hit that comes 0.6 seconds after a player has the puck, they’re told, is okay.
At 0.7 seconds and beyond, they’re in trouble – especially if the hit causes an injury.
“The hit itself wasn’t really a topic in the hearing,” Prust explained. “It was all about the timing of it.
Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows will reportedly have a hearing over the phone after his hit on Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin on Thursday night.
ReplyDeleteIf the CBC thinks they have a Gomish problem wait till they here from my pro bono lawyer about "watching the game in Punjabi" No jury will believe Rick Mercer is not a FHF!
ReplyDeleteAny dirty hit on a Hab is welcomed by mediots and cockroaches. Think ape on Patches. They love it.
ReplyDeleteThey must all be in mourning that he's out and will surely bring it up as an excuse for any broon loss.
DeleteGo CBJ
ReplyDeleteI suppose leafs are thanking their lucky stars that CBJ has 9 players out of their line-up.
Re-load for candies.
ReplyDeleteAnti-austerity protests downtown, why am I not surprised that Quebec Solidaire MP is there?
ReplyDeleteAwesome, moeman. I love the pic of Beliveau and CHarger looks so luscious.
ReplyDeleteSo, if burrows gets dinged a fine or a suspension, should;t the stupid fucking ref that didn't call the play get the same?
ReplyDeleteA Linesman was closest to the play, didn't have the guts to overrule his boss (the ref) and make him look bad.
DeleteShocking news: Kerry on Nilan says Manny is as honest as the day is long. Even slight suggestion of 'conspiracy' among the stripes that because of a couple of embellishments the whole team is labelled by them.
DeleteHere's a large excerpt from his blog (even though he always seems to throw 'embellishing' or 'theatrics' on anything Habs.)
While I'm okay with the ref's decision to penalize Tom Gilbert once he set a moving pick by going East-West against Alexander Edler, two separate picks on the ensuing power-play set by Radim Vrbata and then Kevin Bieksa were every bit deserving of a penalty call; if not more so. The infractions took place in open ice where both referees would have had a clear view of the play. So why were no armbands raised; not once but twice?
It appeared to me that the referees became stubborn when they detected some attempts at "salesmanship" by the Montreal players to get the call. The picks were legitimate as contact was deliberately initiated by the Vancouver players in open ice. Any minor theatrics that might have taken place following the illegal picks was not worthy of keeping the whistle in the holster; especially with Gibert serving a penalty for the same infraction. I am also sure there was some conscious thought process not to be perceived as whistling the dreaded 'make-up call.' Common sense and sound judgment should have overridden both of these debilitating thought processes to whatever degree they existed in the mind of either referee.
I fully endorse every effort to eradicate embellishment from the game. The referees have been instructed to make diving/embellishment a focus of emphasis as we have seen in this young season.
However, with a four on three situation in OT that created plenty of open space on the ice this was not the appropriate time to become either stubborn or attempt teach players a lesson about theatrics.
Vrbata dished the puck from the top right faceoff circle to Edler in the middle. Tomas Plekanec fronted Edler from a distance as the lone Habs high defender on the PK formation.
As Edler walked the puck toward the right side Vrbata skated directly at Plekanec, who was attempting to mirror the movement of the puck carrier. Vrbata initiated direct and deliberate contact with the Montreal defender. To restate; there was plenty of ice for Vrbata to take without 'bumping' into Plekanec. The deliberate contact initiated by Vrbata detained Plekanec from moving freely in his attempt to remain in front of Edler and establish position in the shot-block lane.
A momentary stall/pause was then followed by a 'reaction' from Plekanec as his body rotated and dropped to one knee. I see this as any easy call to make and both referees should have raised their arm the instant that contact was initiated. Any subsequent reaction from Plekanec was minimal and of no consequence to the infraction committed by Vrbata on the power-play.
Not long afterward, with 49 seconds remaining in the power-play, Bieksa retrieved the puck at his blue line with Manny Malhotra in pursuit. Bieksa retreated into the Canuck end zone as Malhotra backed off toward center ice. Bieksa started up ice, dropped the puck for Chris Higgins who swooped in from behind, and then proceeded to run a perfect one-man 'Flying V' to engage and contact Malhotra at the red line! Malhotra was attempting to intercept Higgins by moving laterally to his right but was taken out by Bieksa's body contact and stick restraint. I can only suspect that the subsequent left leg swoop that Malhotra utilized might have given the referees a false impression of the play. I know Manny Malholtra to be an extremely honest player; he's as honest as the day is long! This deliberate interference, initiated by Kevin Bieksa, was more worthy of a penalty than the two previous picks set by Gilbert and Vrbata.

DeleteWow - Moeman - you are one scary mutherfucker sometimes!! You work late and still manage to keep us entertained, then even after a loss (albeit in overtime) you come straight back with a knockyourfuckingsocksoff SF. Some oldies and a lot of goodies. Morgan Fairchild, Farah Fawcett, All the Angels! Charger, le Gros Bill (edition tres jeune!) and Mrs. Fucking Kotter! (RIP) We are not worthy!
ReplyDeleteI am gonna watch more tape before commenting on last night's game. But before I do - I would just like to say that - earlier this month I called the Habs to end the season on 118 points - just to say - they are ahead of the pace I predicted. I called October at 7-3-1 - they went 8-2-1 so they are (in my mind anyway) 2 points ahead of my predicted final total. Nice ones all round!!
Good call KmaXXX. Got the 6/49 lottery numbers for this weekend by any chance?
DeleteFHFun to do.
DeleteWatched the condensed game on game centre and they didn't show the head shot. The showed the Habs taking some shots but it also showed me they are looking to make the perfect pass each time. Tiny wasted a beauty chance late in the game with what looked like a pass instead of a shot...and that was a fuckin pick in overtime - bloody refs!...we got Saturday night off it looks like...so you guys can watch the leaf Lose I suppose...the broadcast should be sickening"..
DeleteNice work moe!
ReplyDeleteI love Halloween. Not that I do anything these days because I'm old and I'm in Asia. But I Fodid scare the shit out of my students today by hiding in a corner with a Scream mask and fake ax. I showered them with candy so all is good.
For future reference, the Charmed girls make excellent Sexy Friday fodder. I do a quiz night here and I was, uh, researching the show and man oh man. Can't go wrong with Shannon Doherty, the middle sister (don't know her real name) and Alissa Minlano (and later Rose McGowen). As witches!
Fuck Buttman's league. I'm not at all saying the Habs deserved better, because they didn't, but all I want is some semblance of fairness. Missed calls, mistakes, fine. Total bias not so much. It all evens out, right? Well, it shouldn't have to.
Ooooooommmmm.....power of three....Take me away bitchy terrible Shannon....
What were we talking about?

DeleteWhat can I say, I'm a sucker for brunettes. Who can kick my ass in a wave of a hand. Punish me, witches.
Nice treats.
DeleteO-man, go read Stu Cowan's story on a fellow Habs fan in South Korea from my province of NB. Maybe you two can meet for a beer.
DeleteOn the most recent H I/O show they mentioned a Habs fan here. I took the time to make an account over there to say that I'm also a long time Hab fan in Korea. Despite my presence here, I don't do the internet commentating thing too much.
DeleteThere are lots of us here. Tons. Just like everywhere else. There's a Canadian bar here, Rocky Mountain Tavern (RMT) that I used to frequent a lot. I used to do the quiz there, too. It's a younger man's bar, especially now that Itaewon has gentrified. Anyway, back in the day we used to go on Sundays for HNIC and there would be tables of Hab fans. Lots of Oil/Flame/Nuck fans, and we'd watch their games live which was fine seeing as the owners were from the West. But it was always Habs taunting the leaf, or the other way around. But just like this road trip, you'll always get the bleu blanc et rouge and the ole no matter where you are in the world. The best the leaf fans could muster was a cheer here or there when/if they scored. No one to root for, seeing as every player was either terrible or sent off the next season.
My point is, we are everywhere us Habs fans. Coast to coast ain't nothing. How about corner (of the globe) to corner. Man, I've seen the Hab CH in Cambodia, Australia, Germany and Ukraine. Can't say that about the leaf or any other team. Even the Expos cap has been popular here for a few years.
You guys don't know, you don't appreciate. Montreal is world renowned, despite our domestic media. Good poutine is considered good sushi. It's a cultural oddity. I say I went to McGill and people gasp. I'm a moron. But Montreal man...Montreal.
Kiss the sidewalk on the way home tonight, would you? For me?
First place is nice but we can do better.
ReplyDeleteWell the cute little goblins are out. I give til 8pm and shut er down before the teenage thugs arrive. Hell, i'd give them something if they'd make an effort. I once dressed as the ghost of a Canadian pianist - Glenn Ghoul. Nobody knew who I was. Sure wishing I hadn't watched the vid of the OT last night. Just made me angry...about to hulk out. Better have a drink between trick/treaters.
ReplyDelete3 games for Burrows.

DeleteGood one.
DeleteThanks Buttman no hockey tonite, you could not have Mon Van Couver on Saturday, no that would be too Canadian.

Delete"Minnesota Wild forward Thomas Vanek says he regrets getting involved in an ongoing money laundering investigation.
ReplyDelete"I'm not proud of the decisions I've made," Vanek told reporters Saturday. "But as a person, I just have to move on from it and learn from (my) mistakes.”
A defense attorney for a man who pleaded guilty to illegal gambling and conspiracy to launder money said the check his client helped launder came from Vanek when he played for the New York Islanders.
Vanek's agent, Steve Bartlett, issued a denial on Friday.
The forward said Saturday that Bartlett informed the Wild of the situation before the team signed him as a free agent on July 1."
I thought this tweet was funny:

@Russostrib #mnwild #nhl must of bet against #Habs in the playoffs based on his performance #vanek
Get well and be well Gordie Howe.

ReplyDelete“I’ve played with Chucky a lot so I know what to expect with him,” admitted Gallagher, who was reunited with teammate Alex Galchenyuk -- notably playing center -- at practice. “Obviously he’s a very good player who can make a lot happen with the puck so I’m happy to be playing with him. Plus, [Rene] Bourque is the kind of guy who will work to find loose pucks and create space for us, so hopefully it will be a good line and we can make it work.”

DeleteI just tuned to CBC, if anyone is watching, did I just hear cherrie call PatCHes 'macaroni'? vs Flames and said if that was the broons he never would of finished the game. FUCK YOU!
ReplyDeleteYet I'm sure he didn't mention that Flame who put the puck in the net in the SO after Price already made the save. I thought the anti-Habs stuff would simmer down with SNET for some reason, but it's only multiplied across the dozens of channels they have.
DeleteOf course not, and of course.
DeleteLlyods of London just announced in order to break even in 2015 they are cancelling their insurance policy on Loophole.
ReplyDeleteDid you know Holland is a 'Hawk killer"?
ReplyDeleteheely says so.
Nitwit and Simpleton are ejaculating over Reimer and the leaf. Never hear them this exited when calling a Habs game. Unless they are playing Boston in which case they are sucking the ape, lucy and the rat.
ReplyDeleteWent to the movies and saw "The Judge" with RDJ and Duvall. A tad long but good story. Recommended.
I forgot how delusional a leaf broadcast is. Hawks have the leaf hemmed in the entire 3rd, but the leaf have one rush (which Celine screwed up) yet on the replay they mostly only show the leaf chance and say it's a track meet, end to end. Oh, and Reimer is Roy c. 1996.
ReplyDelete"Kessel shoots the puck, and as everyone knows he can shoot it hard!" Yes, doughboy is known around the league for his hard shot. "Who's Kessel?" everyone else watching this game outside the GTA.
ReplyDeleteheely got the kesseltracker goin' tonight?
Deleteheely had whole damn leaftracker going.
DeleteKessel has the Hawks figured out, guys. That's why he 'almost' got a breakaway. Except for those two d-men. And not having the puck. But, you know, *almost*!
ReplyDeleteIt's like watching men vs boys. I will agree, without Reimer this game would be out of hand right now. Or as Carlyle will say, "Just ok".
ReplyDeleteI actually hope the leaf win. They're so terrible, I don't want then to change a thing. And then lose their last 15 games like the last 4 seasons.
ReplyDeleteOn that last one, I don't see how they can say the puck didn't go in, was it under Reimer's ass? was it cross the line? I didn't see any evidence.
DeleteI don't the fucking mediots will brag like there's no tomorrow and say they're good enough to compete to against the West and the Cup.
DeleteJets -rags 0-0 going to OT

Yes, HNIC a Canadian team was playing your buddies.
This will be a great win for Toronto!
Uh, there's 3 minutes left against one of the best teams in the league. Hate watching hockey, it's not really for me.
Now Reimer is Dominik Hasek.
ReplyDeleteOy.
Of course the cockroaches will never admit the Haws have been struggling lately.
Deletesnet/cbc/tsn so happy, their leaf and Boston win. leafools are out planning the parade even as I type.
ReplyDeleteThey'll hate having to broadcast a game featuring two Canadian teams tomorrow night. Whoever wins, snet/cbc will be sad.
To assuage their pain, they relive every leaf moment of tonight's leaf game at every and any chance.
DeleteWell, if the Habs don't deserve some of their wins, this was complete larceny by the leaf. They were in their zone the entire 3rd. I think they just said the Hawks had 26 shots in the 3rd alone. And this is the leaf's "best performance of the season". Big day for the HNIC crew. Wins by the leaf and broon, and no Habs game either. Christmas has come early for those knuckleheads.
ReplyDeleteI did not hear them wrong. Hawks got 26 shots in the 3rd. The leaf got 27 overall. And yes, the HNIC was literally ecstatic over the leaf's "best game of the season". I repeat, 26 shot against in the 3rd. 47 overall. Best game of the season.
DeleteAnd they will act shocked again when the leaf collapses in March.
March? November hasn't finished yet.
DeleteI guess Kreider didn't crash Pavelec or give one of his dirty head-shots, can't afford it now with Moore out.
ReplyDeleteGoing to the SO
DeleteThey banned the spinorama, but it's time to ban the standing still stuff.
DeletePuts the goalie to sleep and shooter scores when the eyes shut.
DeleteEat it, Rags.
DeleteKane gets the SO winner.
ReplyDeleteYou tell 'em Strombo! Brings up the missed interference calls in Vancouver right away.
ReplyDeleteI only tune to the other channels when RDS doesn't have the Habs or some other games but from what I have seen, Strombo is the only one who shows any class, and I don't say that as a 'homer' the other shit-heads, well, they're shit-heads.
ReplyDeleteDuring the anthem, I know it's the pads but the camera angle made Miller's chest look like he had a ladie's chest.
ReplyDeleteHrudey complaining that players are now letting up and not targeting the head. "This is what the game is coming to!" Yes, you fucking idiot. That's the point.
ReplyDeleteHa, in the end he had to agree with them because he realized he was looking like the idiot he actually is.
DeleteEnding that, Strombo says 'there's more to the hockey world outside of these 3 guys', then goes to other goings on in hockey. I think that was subliminal to Habs fans who understood it to mean 'outside the gta'.
DeleteOn a trip to the pharmacy today I passed by a pawn shop that had a Habs-Biere jersey front and center in the window.
ReplyDeleteJulie gets a 3-year extension.
ReplyDeleteWTF does this mean?

Montreal...home of the world's greatest bidets.
Let's see if Finger Ference gets the broons free pass for his head shot to Kasian.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Kypreos thinks the Burrows suspension was excessive, defending Burrows -" don't buy it" the fact that (Y) came back to finish the game (why the fuck should that determine a suspension, isn't deterring player safety the priority?) , Vancouver fans will compare the hit on (Y) to Finger ference, "this is the comparable, I don't think finger ference was as late in his hit, I don't think Kassian was as vulnerable in that hit, it it's me, just 1 or 2 games." Fuck you Kypreos.
ReplyDeleteHe launched, contacted the head, and a history - no fucking broon pass for you now, Finger Man.
Finger ference, says he was surprised to get a penalty - it was a good body check 'Did the ref say anything to you? 'Yeah I just asked what he saw and he wasn't even sure about the penalt, I asked him what he saw and he said he wasn't sure about the penalty.
ReplyDeleteI know a player defends himself, but if you drag the refs into it to defend yourself, well, I don't think that might be so much a good thing.
I've said it before and it needs repeating, the mediots leaf bias will get worse and it will never get better. Sick fucks.
ReplyDeleteGood morning moe. It's worth repeating every day. I never get tired of hearing it anyway.
ReplyDeleteGood morning all.
ReplyDeleteSeems line an eternity since the Habs played.
Go Habs Go!!
Good morning juce. I have to prepare myself for all the Habs bashing by the Snet moron leaf lovers on tonight's broadcast. Mute button at the ready.
