Go Habs Go! It's Saturday night - you gotta be positive 6 hours before game time! Last night wax one o this games the Habs shoukd have won and they can't afford to let too many of those games happen. Just a couple more bounced and some unbiased reffing and they would have been alright. So GYFHG!

Sounds great 29. We did a Spanish tomato meatloaf, potatoes, veg, Pinot Grigio and a bottle of Taylor's 10 yr old port...so by midnight (gametime) I'll either be pumped and swearing like a sailor or passed out...go habs go!
I have impressed myself with PiriPiri lamb chops, fried rice and strawberry+rhubarb pie. Washed down with an excellent wine find, Las Moras Chardonnay.
Going to get a comment in before the relic cockroaches get air time.
A piece of filth like don cherry should not be allowed a second of Canadian airwaves to even mention Jean Beliveau's name. I may not be of the class and grace of the dearly departed man of elegance but fuck me if that rockem sockem POS cherry gets to say anything about the great man.
Why does a fucking lunkhead ex-leaf like kypreoshit need a hockey stick on a faked ice stage? ... and hahahrudey tells him to get off the CH logo. Go suck the tears out of your 1993 baby blue bandana.
Wow, connor mckenna, on sports extra says the problem with the Habs is the coachiing. Hard to believe someone actually said it. I think he's a free-lancer not under contract, maybe that's why.
I've had little good to say about Bob Cole over the years but tonight he redeemed a big part of my dislike with his genuinely heartfelt Jean Beliveau comments. Dick Irvin Jr. is a fucking Habs encyclopedia.
TFs gets a second start in a row - in a B2B - wtf is going on? Has MT had an epiphany or something? Imagine that - allowing your no. 1 goalie to play two games in row...what a fucking genius we have coaching the Habs...
The league just can't fucking stand that our Habs were in 1st place in spite of all the bogus penalties on them and all the non-calls on the opponents - all because their fucking broons were eliminated them,
I like that HNIC went on and on about the Dallas guy going off, bringing it up literally every 5 seconds, and then they breath a sigh of relief when he comes back out and talk about it some more. They just got around to saying Weaver went off before that and hasn't come back.
That was as bad a period of hockey as I have seen all season - this is really fucking scary! HOW THE FUCK do you only get 3 FUCKING. Shots in one period?
I am watching Fox Sports. They have some great experessions a "venumous power play" "Dallas is emptying their clip on Montreal" "DDD is a tricky little fella but he does not score"
Very hard to even be in a position to shoot at the fucking net if they're always killing penalties in their own end. 4 fucking penalties - thanks refs.
Love how they try to suggest PK was faking it ,"He's fine enough now to play on the PP!" Where was that sarcasm for Seguin. Oh yeah, too busy saying Plecks did that on purpose.
Sometimes I fantasize that I'm the owner of the Habs and I go to MT and tell him it's his choice to play DD on the PP, but if DD gets 1 second of PP time tonight he is fired. I just want to see what would happen. I wonder if MT would keep being stubborn and playing his pet or give in for his own job. I honestly don't know what he would do.
Habs weren't as good as their early record. But they're not as bad as their recent play.
MT is ruining the youth on this team and he is a terrible coach. Let's stop sugar coating this. If not for Price, he would have been fired last year. Same with this year. Without Price their record would be bad enough to get rid of him.
Habs will be fighting for playoff spot by the holidays. They'll make the playoffs simply because the East is so weak. Price might get them through 1 or 2 rounds, MT will continue to drive this team into the ground and the young guys either don't develop or leave town.
DD will never, ever, be taken off the 1st line, PP, or away from Patches. NEVER.
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! 1) Obvious 2) So the 3rd goal. 10 seconds left in the period. Defensive zone faceoff. Who do you put in at centre? Malhotra? No. Plekanec? No. Fucking eMTy's love child DDD!
This team is missing many important parts if they're going to beat the teams on the ice along with the league. They'll fall out of a top 3 division spot by Christmas if something doesn't change.
Oh, and do you know why the Stars traded Gonchar? To make room for that swedish kid Klingberg or whatever his name is. No more means to be said on that.
Habs just finished 6/9 nights, after 4 days off following 6/9 nights. It will take another 17 days to complete their next 6 games. And that's not even counting the xmas break. And 5 of those games are at home. Some tough teams, but lots of chances to get back on track.
Ever since Gallagher called out the NHLRA, some of the calls against the Habs have been atrocious. They are going to pay for that the rest of the year and maybe longer.
This constantly being down a goal or two EVERY FIRST PERIOD is wearing me down. Time for a Habs break methinks. I've got tons of blu-ray movies to get caught up on over the next few weeks. Also, the WJC's will be here soon, always a nice hockey fix.

The last Hab to score in his first NHL game was Patches. So Gehtto is in good company and between him Cakes and gCHuck we should have pretty cosistant seconday scoring. Its the primary that seems to have left the barn. I think this year is a leaning experience and a anything goes playoff run. Lego is not up to replacing SuperPleXXXe, and gCHuck is not up to replacing Lego. Of course DDD needs urgent replacement as our first line center. On D we have a first and second D and then five sixth D.
The terrible calls against the Habs have been going on all season, they just kind of slowed down a bit for a week or two. But the head scratchers have come roaring back on this road trip. Western teams always get the calls against Eastern teams (except for the usual suspects, i.e. Boston). It's not just the penalties, it's the offsides and icings, too. Like I say, I have GCL so I can immediately rewind and rewatch an offside. There were so many blown calls on this trip you have to start wondering what's going on. Yeah, it's a fast game and they'll get a couple wrong. But every close call went against the Habs. Some not even close calls went against them. Several times the Habs were totally onside, play went on for a second or two, and then when they got a good scoring chance it would be whistled dead on a mystery offside. How can anyone take this league seriously?
Like you, I have taken breaks in the past. But the schedule really slows down for them now. They have 18 games until the end of January. That's 55 days. It only took them 35 days to play their last 18 (which is insane when you realize that's more than a game every other day). So the crushing disappointment will come in smaller doses now.
It's hard to watch just because I feel like I'm watching the same tragedy over and over again, and that comes directly from MT's coaching decisions. Every time there's a PP and I see DD on the first wave that eats up 75% of it I die a little inside. Every time I see Eller benched or Allen getting 20 minutes, I cringe.
The guys on 690 have been making a good point about N8 and Tiny. MB doesn't want them in the NHL now because he need to resign them next year. If they're in the minors most of this season he can sign them for much less. I guess this is what he meant by taking a step back this year, in addition to getting guys like gonCH and Allen. It's all about setting up next year. Which is nice and all, but it's not great playing with the development of what we hope to be the future of our blue line, especially when MT is already fucking with gCHuck and Eller's development. That's really what scares me most. Not this year, the future.
Dave Stubbs @Dave_Stubbs · 7 hrs 7 hours ago Élise Béliveau will be at #Habs game Tuesday, at which Jean will be celebrated pre-game. “I wouldn’t miss it,” she told me
Mme Beliveau is a very strong woman, how she managed to have the strength to shake each and every fan's hand and even consoling some of them is nothing short of amazing.
"It is almost comforting that, since the Canadiens are a religion in Quebec, the team’s brick, mortar and steel home has on this morning become its most important cathedral."
...."(The anniversary is surreal: it was on Dec. 7, 1961 — 53 years to the day — that Jean Béliveau played the first game of his 10-year tenure as captain of the Canadiens, elected to the position by teammates on Oct. 11 to succeed the traded Doug Harvey. A knee injury had kept him out of action until his club’s 26th game of the 1961-62 season, a 4-1 Forum victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.)"
I don't always agree with Mr. Todd, but when somebody in the media has the balls to finally call out DDD, I'm all in. Thank you Jack. http://montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/nhl/montreal-canadiens/jack-todd-canadiens-need-a-real-no-1-centre-to-replace-david-desharnais
Since Jack is now semi-retired he can say it and get away with it. But everything he said was true.
And hey, I don't dislike David Desharnais in any way, shape or form. He is to be commended for reaching the level he has but it's just reality. Once video reviews pick apart his game he's done. Teams adapt and he can't. It' just physics. And as the great Red Fisher used to say: "It's not personal, it's business."
They were discussing DDD on AC Andre Savard said, well we still have to be careful what we say, he is a francophone. Why should that matter, it doesn't one's talent or lack of, so one shouldn't speak honestly? D'arche simply said one thing you can never complain about is his effort. They say DDD lost the faceoff but PFK and Markov were responsible for the loss, they were both out of position when he lost the faceoff.
Looking at pictures of the Bell Center today, including Mme Beliveau, it is nice to know we support an organization that exudes such class. Toronto would charge admission, Boston only has one alum worthy of this treatment and fans would probably spill beer on his coffin.
The three beer glasses prove once again a picture speaks a thousand words. The regular seasonis a joke. So start laughiig people.

Carnaval recalled from Hamilton, Bowman sent back.

ReplyDeleteÉlise Béliveau will be at #Habs game Tuesday, at which Jean will be celebrated pre-game. “I wouldn’t miss it,” she told me
Mme Beliveau is a very strong woman, how she managed to have the strength to shake each and every fan's hand and even consoling some of them is nothing short of amazing.
ReplyDelete"It is almost comforting that, since the Canadiens are a religion in Quebec, the team’s brick, mortar and steel home has on this morning become its most important cathedral."
ReplyDelete...."(The anniversary is surreal: it was on Dec.

Yes, I read that as well. Finally.
DeleteSince Jack is now semi-retired he can say it and get away with it.
DeleteWhy should that matter, it doesn't one's talent or lack of, so one shouldn't speak honestly? D'arche simply said one thing you can never complain about is his effort.
They say DDD lost the faceoff but PFK and Markov were responsible for the loss, they were both out of position when he lost the faceoff.
*dictate one's lack*
DeleteLooking at pictures of the Bell Center today, including Mme Beliveau, it is nice to know we support an organization that exudes such class. Toronto would charge admission, Boston only has one alum worthy of this treatment and fans would probably spill beer on his coffin.
ReplyDeleteSo some guy made taglines for each NHL team. Some of them are hilarious.

A broons fan just called 690 and said he can fix our team, just fire MT & DGMB and hire Don Cherry.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he should fix his own team and hire him.
I've been snarfing pics all week to create a tribute to Jean Beliveau:
