Re: Steve's comment on the Sexy Friday thread about the Yak/Petry for Lego/Bo, MB is not that dumb. I could see Lego shipped out for a scoring winger but Bo's going nowhere. His skating ability alone makes him untouchable, once he wins MT's confidence and he puts the lasso away, you'll see how good he really is. The Yak is overrated.
Nice picture of Captain Saku shaking hands with Stan Mikita.
I also wanted to say, the mediots and the league pick on PFK because they are fucking jealous. The mediots wish the leaf could get him and the league's old boy's white's only club don't like him because of his style. I'll admit he's no angel on the ice and he plays on the edge sometimes but his ancestry is a black mark against him, no pun intended.
Some truth in there the M. PFK is also a local guy, just like Tavares, Stamkos, Doughty, etc. They might be jealous but I also believe they are truly envious.
Read that snet's ratings aren't doing so well. Might be because they hitCHed themselves to the wrong bandwagon. Also, most their crew sucks, a lot. Have fun losing money as your team spirals the blue and white bowl of futility.
Morning moe, I read that article in the G&M, looks good on Rogers and Sportsnet. I seem to recall they promised no blackouts when they acquired the Canadian broadcasting rights but I think the NHL put the kibosh on that. They've pissed off many thousands of Habs fans west of Belleville, Ontario and many people (I'm one of them) refuse to pay for their Game Plan or Center Ice shite. With the Canadian dollar nose diving, that $5.2 billion they paid is rapidly escalating higher. Their pre-game shows are horrid and we all know their studio personnel are unadulterated leaf-lover Hab-hating dicks, Strombo excluded.
If PK was in the blue and white he'd be a national hero. I said it when they were choosing the Olympic team, if he was a leaf he would have been the first one announced. Kadri, for example, is a diver and a whiner and a punk. Yet the media talk about him like he's some sort of superstar. PK, meanwhile, might be mouthy, but is the best defenceman in years and yet they dump on him.
One of my good friends here used to keep up with hockey even more than me, but then he got married and had a baby, etc, and only barely keeps track of his team now (hey, it's hard here on the other side of the world). He's the guy who first told me that PK was drafted by the Habs and showed me clips that got me all hot and bothered. But when I hung out with him last month he asked me if PK was really such a big disappointment. He listens to Puck Daddy's webcast and watches the highlights now. He thought my strong opposition to such a statement was because I was a blind Habs fan. Then I showed him highlights of my own. I provided stats. I showed some of the 'embellishment' calls.
He's smart enough, and a good enough hockey fan, to realize what was going on. Immediately he asked, "So, do you think he'd get this press in a leaf jersey?" His laugh was all the answer we needed. The problem is there are lots of less educated 'fans' out there who are unwilling to see the truth.
So I went out all afternoon and when I got back I was all tired and cold (it's cold here! Like -6c or something!) so I took a nap. Which turned into 5 hours and I got up about 2 hours ago. I decided since it was Saturday night and I obviously wasn't going to be doing anything, I might as well pour a drink to help me get back to sleep (it was 11pm). Well here we are two hours later and I'm weird drunk. It sort of works out because the game is on in 2 hours, and although I wasn't planning staying up for it I might now. But that means I'll watch it all and be in bed again at 6am. Which is weird. Why did I sleep 4 hours this evening? My life isn't hard enough to do that sort of thing. It was just so warm and comfy. The never ending construction outside my window had finally ended for the day.
No guarantees, but I may be here writing nonsense during the game. God help us all.
Lots has been made of Brodeur retiring. Unlike some people here, I do appreciate what he did in his career and respect him greatly as a goalie. He brought us gold in 2002, that's good enough for me. But it's also important to note that he had an amazing defence in front of him and the best defensive coach of all time, too. But I still think he was amazing and deserves all the accolades he gets. Weird he ended up with the Blues, though.
But you know who really deserves respect. THE DOMINATOR. I loved that guy to death as a teen. I was a goalie most of the time in my street hockey career and based my performance on him. He got his number retired earlier this year in Buffalo a few weeks ago against the Wings (classy, and also I would be surprised if the Wings didn't do the same). I will always hate/respect him for stoning Canada at the 1998 Olympics. WHY DIDN'T YOU SEND GRETZKY??!!! But I digress.
A few stats that will blow your mind (via wiki):
-6 Vezinas
-Only goalie to win the Hart multiple times, and did it consecutively in 96/97, 97/98.
-First European starter to win the Stanley Cup
-Highest career SV% (0.9223)
-7th in career GAA, but first in the modern era (2.022)
-3rd highest single season SV % (0.9366). Higher than Marty's record high on a trap team with Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer.
-Is the only goalie to face the most shots per game, yet have the highest save percentage in a season. And he did it twice. With the Buffalo Sabers.
-Has extensive hilarious quotes.
As I said, I always loved Hasek (except for a brief moment in 1998 when I hated him). If he was Canadian he would be a god to hockey fans. Marty and Roy are also both deserving, but they both played on really good teams most of their careers. Hey, the Devils wouldn't have won in '95 with out Marty, and the Habs wouldn't have won in '86 or '93 without Roy. But the Sabers wouldn't have won a game without Hasek for all of the 90s, and the Czechs wouldn't have won a gold either.
So yeah Brodeur. But I always feel like Hasek was overlooked.
I doubt many in here disrespect Brodeur. He is one of the greats but he also beat the Habs pretty regularly and didn't have a decent word about them (weird considering his Father's line of work). Regardless, like Ken Dryden, he played behind some stellar D and stellar system (I know, fuck the trap!). Always liked Hasek but not a fan of totally unorthodox goaltending.
Well, as a kid on the pond with absolutely no training or technique, I relied on unorthodox goaltending. Hasek was known for covering the puck with his blocker. Well, I remember one late night scrimmage on the local pond that seemed really, really important at the time I covered the puck with my face. We didn't wear masks. Took a few sticks to the cheekbone. But kept it out! I loved Roy but knew I could never be him. I believed for a brief period that I could be Hasek, as long as I was willing to sacrifice my well being to make a save.
And no, I don't remember who won that scrimmage. But I do remember I was finally picked first as a goalie for a few weeks afterwards. Then I went all MAF with the pressure and found heavy metal and booze. My pond hockey career nosedived after that.
Do we realize the Habs have gone 14-3-1 in their last 18 games? Do we just consider that normal now? We don't comment on this? Is it like a shut out, we just do't mention it?
Oh god, what am I still doing up? Thank god I had the presence of mind to pick up a turkey bacon sub on flat bread before getting home earlier. I look forward to getting honey mustard everywhere.
Love that they follow up the replay showing the Cap turn at the last minute with KidG getting cross checked several times with no call in front of the net. Oh, the NHL.
And is it just me, or before last year or so, it was rare to see a guy get chased from the dot? It seems like every faceoff now one of them gets chased.
As Kerry Fraser wrote today, PK has a rep and he will keep getting called for embellishment as long as he gets rid of his rep for embellishment by not getting called for embellishment anymore.
#NHLlogic
But I do like that he admits that the refs are too stupid to call the game as they see it, and are always calling the game before.
Sigh, same shit different day. Who do John Shannon and pj dumb as a rock focus on at the intermission... the Capitals and Ovechkin. OK, now they talk about PFK and show KidG getting worked over... with no call.
So a little while ago a friend sent me a funny picture. I forget the details, but since it's 4am and I'm cloudy drunk I want to see it again. So I google image "Weird Ostrich". I was NOT disappointed. Though I haven't found the exact image yet. Good times.
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!

First of all, total dive by the Cap. Second, what's illegal? He had the puck. Sure, the whistle went at the same time, but he was just finishing his check. Right Grapes?
That little shoulder shimmy by the Cap at the face-off circle didn't get him booted. PFK's shoulder shimmy (weirdly gleefully re-acted by a ref) got him 2 minutes.
Real question: Do you think when Ovie is shittalking (Y) there, is he speaking Russian or English? You'd think Russian, but I live around people who have 1% of Ovie's English abilities and they'll scream obscenities in English while playing sports.
Lego hesitating I put that on being SH at the time. You don't want to make a pass or big shot and send them back with numbers the other way. Plexxxe's pass wasn't great, it happens. But PK had time and a wide open net with no one in the way. I'm not pooping on the guy, it happens too. But he hits it, it's in.
Haha, SN shows that Ovie took a 4 minute shift. There's lots to say about the guy, but I like him generally. I mean, I wouldn't build a team around him, but he's much more entertaining than any other player out there. 4 minutes, haha!
Fucking pukes shannon and dumb as a rock singing the Capitals praises the whole fucking time they talked. Rogers sportsnet sure loves their Canadian teams. I hope they lose their fucking shirts on this NHL deal and cbc and tsn take it back. Not that it would be any different.
BTW, gCHuk at the game on his stick on that PP if he had hit the top corner.
Hey guys...I have been watching the snet feed on gamed true but today is the first Tim I have been able to blow it up into a bigscreeen with the apple box...so I haven't been commenting. TFS looks great as usual but I am struggling to see a Habs goal tonight. I mean wtf! 13 shots over 2 periods! , and who the fuck are these guys in the intermission? Bj cock, some chick named chantal and some fucking leaf cocksucker going out of his way to blow the capitals...someone please explain who the old guy is pleas...
john shannon, ex-longtime cockraoch, leaf splooger as an NHL mktg pinhead, leafool and lead leaf apologist. He was also behind the cbc not having any funds left for Radio-Canada Habs broadcasts. The following year hnit spent more on leaf games alone. RDS took the private contract for Habs games and we are the better for it. shannon is one sick fuck.
Bob Gainey defined what the Selke trophy is, PleXXXe has been living up to it and is by far the best candidate this year. Add the hit and his reaction to the dirty hit to his cred.
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!
Always love it when the ref standing right in front of the infraction ignores it while the guy at center ice finally calls it. You can hear the delay, waiting for the guy there to call it.
I am absolutely the first to say posts don't count (see: playing goalie, above). But the narrative on TSNCBC will be that the Caps should have won because POSTS. They will never mention that one by the Habs. Just to be clear, no one should because they hit the goal post.
I have been listening to some of the post game stuff on line and a lot of discussion has been around whether you give TFS the start tomorrow, as he is on a two game streak. What say all of you. ...and no one use the s word please...
Go Habs Go!

ReplyDeleteCASH IT!!!
ReplyDeletePrust on the PP! Drink!
ReplyDeleteOh, I realize it's not part of the game. Just...drink.
Hey remember when the Habs were competent on the PP for a game and a half last week? Yeah...
ReplyDeleteKILL IT
ReplyDelete2 minutes for checking a guy. If that was PK he'd get 2 mins for embellishment.
ReplyDeleteAND 2 for unsportsmanlike conduct
DeleteLove that they follow up the replay showing the Cap turn at the last minute with KidG getting cross checked several times with no call in front of the net. Oh, the NHL.

ReplyDeleteAnd is it just me, or before last year or so, it was rare to see a guy get chased from the dot? It seems like every faceoff now one of them gets chased.
DeleteI would enjoy seeing a Lego goal.
ReplyDeleteyou'll have to wait until the playoffs when is contract is expiring
Delete*His contract. good joke ruined by a tyop
DeleteNah, I don't think it's lack of effort. I think it's getting hard assignments and not always get linemates. AKA the Plexxxe dilemma.
DeleteTFS!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen PFK's involved, there will never just be 1 penalty for the opponent. (sighs)
ReplyDeleteOnly person happy so far is Laviolette and his whining Montreal does it shit.
ReplyDeletePFK's got a burr under his saddle today. I like it.
ReplyDeleteDid you see the stick and PFK holding his jewels?
ReplyDeleteDid they nail the Cap for the spear?
ReplyDelete@moe how long has that #4 sidebar thing been there? have i been so drunk i always miss it? well done.
ReplyDeleteSo PK is legally physical and the Cap spears. COINCIDENTAL MINORS!
ReplyDeleteOh, NHL.
Any word if OV visited CHez Parée last night?

ReplyDeleteLater on he whined to the ref why didn't Vodkov get a penalty for crosschecking.
DeleteExcellent PK by the CH.
ReplyDeleteShot! I mean sip!
DeleteGo phlyers.
ReplyDeleteSo this has gone the way I would have predicted. Boring and sluggish. And 2 PPs for the other team. But remember, Habs get all the calls at home!
ReplyDeleteNice commercial with Dom Moore. Good to see him smiling again.
ReplyDeleteSigh, same shit different day. Who do John Shannon and pj dumb as a rock focus on at the intermission... the Capitals and Ovechkin. OK, now they talk about PFK and show KidG getting worked over... with no call.
ReplyDeleteThey have to spread the leafools around.
DeleteOk, so it has to be said with the pic here. Brandon Prust is a good looking guy considering he's an 'enforcer'.
ReplyDeleteNTTIAWWT mon CHum!
DeleteSip!
DeleteThis is the first snet game I watCH this year. The play by play has been good. Not muCH else. Go you fucking CH Go!
ReplyDeleteBartlet and York are good. Not flashy, but fair. They actually mention the Habs here and there, which is new. (Used to do the radio broadcast)
DeleteI don't find this game boring at all. I thought the Caps had the better chances, but Carey is holding down the fort giving them a chance.
ReplyDeleteOrangeman, maybe being drunk is affecting your vision. :-)
I don't think I meant boring. I think I meant "I should be in bed".
Delete"Orangeman, maybe being drunk is affecting your vision. :-)"

I need to call my sponsor. Captain Morgan.

ReplyDeleteAnother PP for the Caps. But remember, the Habs get all the calls at home.
ReplyDeleteFuck off, call Brower for jumping on TFS
ReplyDeleteYet they can hit from behind and run our goalie. Of course.
ReplyDeleteMurray was slow, but if you came near TFS he'd fucking flatten you.
ReplyDeleteCap was obviously rushing that faceoff, but whatever, right ref? Same one who blocked that clearing attempt?
ReplyDeleteBut now the Habs win it, so it's called back. At least try to hide it, you crooked asshats.
ReplyDeleteAwesome '4min' kill.
ReplyDeleteGo Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWould have loved to see a goal there if only to see the refs reach inside their asses for a reason to call it back.
ReplyDeleteThat little shoulder shimmy by the Cap at the face-off circle didn't get him booted. PFK's shoulder shimmy (weirdly gleefully re-acted by a ref) got him 2 minutes.
ReplyDeleteAgain brower makes contact with TFS fucking kreider wannabe
ReplyDeleteAnother 'accidental' bump after the save on TFS.
ReplyDeleteGood, CASH THE FUCKER!
ReplyDeleteHey, you know why Ovie's stick broke? Because he slashed PK.

ReplyDeletejohn shannon, ex-longtime cockraoch, leaf splooger as an NHL mktg pinhead, leafool and lead leaf apologist. He was also behind the cbc not having any funds left for Radio-Canada Habs broadcasts. The following year hnit spent more on leaf games alone. RDS took the private contract for Habs games and we are the better for it. shannon is one sick fuck.
DeleteBob Gainey defined what the Selke trophy is, PleXXXe has been living up to it and is by far the best candidate this year. Add the hit and his reaction to the dirty hit to his cred.
ReplyDeleteWeiser slow clap.

Too funny reading snet execs whining about ratings numbers being flawed. Pretty sure they will be getting many calls from advertisers. Eat it.
ReplyDeleteAh Leggo! Kill it.
ReplyDeleteRefs doing what they can to break the deadlock.
ReplyDeleteClose PatCHes on a shortie.
ReplyDeletex2
Delete+PleXXXe

ReplyDeleteAlways love it when the ref standing right in front of the infraction ignores it while the guy at center ice finally calls it. You can hear the delay, waiting for the guy there to call it.
ReplyDeleteCaps are a fucking bunch of whiners!
ReplyDeleteCash it!
Typical Trotz method. Late hits and always whine to the refs.
Deletewtf&
ReplyDelete"nothing against Cakes, but PAPS has 3 ppg's" fuck you RDS
ReplyDeleteActually, I can live with les gars de chez nous more than the Cotu.
DeleteWeiss on the PP. DRINK THE WHOLE BOTTLE.

ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter, Toronto will say no goal.
Deletenope, bounced off the crossbar and hit the back of holtby's head.
DeleteThen, PleXXXe's shot lands in the blue paint but not in. Or was it vice versa?
GAH
ReplyDeletewell-deserved loser points all around
ReplyDeleteDo it Boys, go take the 2 points!
ReplyDeleteGo Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!
I am absolutely the first to say posts don't count (see: playing goalie, above). But the narrative on TSNCBC will be that the Caps should have won because POSTS. They will never mention that one by the Habs. Just to be clear, no one should because they hit the goal post.
ReplyDeleteWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteBitCHin!!!!
ReplyDeletepatCHes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete♫ Allez, allez allez, allez Montréal...♫
ReplyDeletePATCHESSSSSS!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI JUST WOKE UP ALL MY NEIGHBOURSSSSSSS!!!!!!
Two straight 1-0 wins!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously guys, start scoring.
Patches! What a fucking goal! Yes!
ReplyDeleteYour best players have to be your best players. Patches and TFS. And PK on getting back there to take away a scoring chance right before.
ReplyDeleteThey just bumped Tampa out of 1st.
ReplyDeleteOh god, I really did wake up my neighbours. There's a dog barking and someone just opened up their door to look around the hallway. It's 544am here.
ReplyDeleteJust tell them you were having night terrors about the leaf.
DeleteAnother well deserved shut-out for TFS!
ReplyDeleteThat was quality win...they could have taken a load more shots but a win is a win!
ReplyDeleteOk, kids. Time for bed. I will dream of Habbies dancing in my head.
ReplyDeleteEasy on the mustard.
DeleteThank you for putting up with me.
ReplyDeleteSleep well and get to know your neighbours well.
DeleteRogers puke analysts shannon and dumb as a rock are gagging talking about ANOTHER FUCKING GREAT HABS WIN!!!!
ReplyDelete32 --- THIRTY-TWO wins CotU. CHew on that losers.
Switched to RDS to see the 3 stars. Didn't switCH back.

Sounds about right to me.
That was a beauty fucking goal by PatCHes. Two sips for moe.
Merci.
DeleteI believe we are currently tied for the lead league in wins. that's alright
ReplyDeleteAlmost .700 hockey. It ain't fire wagon stuff but damn its fun.
DeleteCHip (rhymes with sip!) just nicknamed himself 'F3' (as in 3rd forward).
ReplyDeleteThe kid looks and sounds sharp (especially sitting beside mr. negative gaston therrien).
I simply adore CHantal Macabée.
ReplyDeleteKudos to coaCH Demers for giving CHip a boost to his already stellar confidence.
ReplyDeleteNice and honourable stick tap between Holtby and TFS™ before the OT.
ReplyDeletePatCHes is now tied for the NHL lead with 16 game-winning goals over the last two seasons.
ReplyDeletePFK got his 200th point today.

DeleteI have been listening to some of the post game stuff on line and a lot of discussion has been around whether you give TFS the start tomorrow, as he is on a two game streak. What say all of you. ...and no one use the s word please...
ReplyDeleteNope, Toker needs a start to stay in game shape (see what that piece of shit cryder did last year).
DeleteAgree, Toker needs a start.
