OK - that sounds like a good move by DGMB - I read a lot this weekend about the team being tight and working together - you wouldn't want to bring in a gun for hire who will upset the balance - speaking of which - I see Eric Cole is on the move again at trade deadline - so Petry could be a good team move...but who sits now? Pateryn I would suggest but what do I know...
Reading the fine print, this trade should end up being a 2nd rounder and a third rounder (Habs make the Eastern Final and it goes from 5th-3rd)...So let's see how he pans out then think really hard about resigning him. I understand he's not a fighter but at 6'3" he should be intimidating. He also has some experience with the teams from the West, which is going to be the biggest obstacle that stands between the Habs and the holy grail...not to get ahead of anything here you understand...
GMMB still has a 2nd round pick, Buffalo's (for Josh G.), which will be 31st overall. The 5th rounder is Colorado's, but if the Habs go 3 rounds they will give up their own 3rd. Still, as McSplooge said, the Canadiens have a lot of A list prospects in the pipeline (thanks Trevor Timmins) so giving up a mid round pick is not huge.
Agree he wouldn't be looked to for leadership but DGMB is very tuned in to players' characters and he doesn't seem to meet that quality DGMB looks for.
Subban paced the NHL with five assists and shared the League lead with six points to power the Canadiens (41-16-5, 87 points) to three consecutive wins. He collected two assists in a 5-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues Feb. 24. Subban then registered 1-2—3, his fourth three-point game of the season, and a career-high +5 rating in a 5-2 triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets Feb. 26. He closed the week with one assist in a 4-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Feb. 28, giving him 1-11—12 in his past nine contests. The 25-year-old Toronto native shares second among defensemen with 12-36—48 in 62 outings this season. His 12 goals are two shy of his career high (set in 77 GP in 2010-11), while his 48 points are five shy of his best single-season performance (set in 82 GP in 2013-14).
Dish wow. Good for us. Bad for Pateryn and Tin Tin. I guess those two will have to wait for Sergi and Vodkov to retire. I did not like the Tin Tin last call up but however I sure liked the look of Pateryn. I thought he was solid and got more solider as the time passed. I think we're sitting pretty. Goalies coming up, D men on the farm, don't see any sniper types in the tubes tho. But that's OK, I'll live with the ones we have. Go Habs
pls pls pls pls pls dont do anything stupid. aside from ditching lego, less is more. if it aint broke, dont fix it. steady as she goes. patience over impetulance... td: in MB we trust tm: back to TFS
oh... and bringing back squid, the mexicant, gio and saku would be ok with me. squid for obvious reasons and our amigo b/c he kinda performs in the second season. gio and saku b/c they deserve this...
Seems like all the Doggies brought up this season was a test for them. Lots of them passed but MB and MT have decided to take a shot for the big prize with some younger vets. One thing, MB is not afraid to make some moves unlike the ultra-conservative Gainey/Gauthier combo and doesn't worry about hurting anybody's feelings. I'll bet he tells the young guys what he expects and offers encouragement though.
I gotta say, last year when MB traded for Weise, I balked and doubted him. I know little of MitCHell and less of Flynn, but I don't doubt MB anymore. GM of the year. Hands down.
Аrpon Basu @ArponBasu So, Bergevin trades a 2nd rd pick, a pick that can be a 3rd to 5th, another 5th, a 7th and Nevins for Petry, Mitchell and Flynn. Not bad.
He gets a 7th back from SJ for Joey Mitchell. And like I mentioned earlier, he's still got Barfalo's 2nd. He didn't throw away his 1st pick like the Rags, Chi and TB for rentals. MB made out like a fucking bandito and left tire tracks all over the likes of dredger and blob, fucking no nothings.
Regarding that 1st round pick - I hope it's No. 30. G Y F H G!!!!!!!
So, do we need more proof that DGMB and his/our Habs are the most interesting team this season. Pretty sure the mediots are happy proving they have no fucking clue. They tried to make their leaf the 'headline news' today. They failed. Again.
Just catching up with the moves. Flynn and MitCHell seem like good depth moves, and I'm happy with how they got Petry...sorry, I mean "Dish". Didn't give up too much, didn't just go for flashy rentals. Often the best move is no move at all.
If Price stays healthy the Habs have a real shot this year. But as we know, anything can happen in the playoffs. Let's concentrate on staying healthy and securing home ice for the whole thing.
I ain't afraid of California! Honestly, I'm more afraid of Arizona the way the Habs play. GO HABS GO!
Rangers are throwing everything at this year, pretty much giving up their future. Hope the Habs take them out. Then they'll have one more good year in them before a deep sink. Habs will only be heading up.
I have invented the "NAFTA Russian" (TM). 1/2 oz Canadian whiskey, 1/2 oz bourbon (using Jim Beam Black) 1/2 oz Kahlua, over ice and topped with milk (or cream I guess). holy crap yum!
I guess technically the "Russian" part of the name should be out because there is no vodka. But it was based on a White Russian so that's where it came from - The Dude
good luck lehab! I am well into my 2nd and I am in trouble (after a nice pinot gris with the aforementioned pasta). good thing I work from home, may need to sleep in tomorrow
Before I sign off for the night, this proves I should check my facts before saying stuff I know nothing about. Les Canadiens get Barfalo's 2nd round pick in 2016, not this year in the Gorgeous Josh trade. My apologies for that. But, if GMMB can convince 27 year old Dish to resign with the Habs, that's worth a 2nd round pick in any event.
Have fun tonight guys, I'll be watching this game tomorrow morning, an 11pm AST start is too late for this old maritimer.
My thoughts on today's acquisitions: overall, I'm pretty happy. Not giving any first rounders, great prospects or roster players was a smart move. Dish (DSiP?) bolsters the blue line and hey, who knows maybe they'll work something out contract-wise. Flynn? Not gonna lie, I've never heard of him but he can't hurt. MB sure loves fourth line depth. Oh and I actually like GPTM™!
Sure, seeing Kessel (ick) or Eberle (a girl can dream) on RW would have been nice but the good thing about TFS being on your team is you don't have to score much to win. Hopefully, this won't be their downfall come spring.
excellent. ooh quality ingredients! well done, My Canadian was the CC CHairman's Select (Sip!) 100% rye which I love. Agreed, the Crown goes down nice and smooth over ice, no need to mix. Love Maker's. I have a Makers 46 which I bought in the States really cheap because it is a joke how expensive it is here
Yeah, spring forward. They went forward in Brazil while I was there. I'm still very confused about what season, continent and time I'm in. Second day back to work and I still have no idea what I'm doing. But that's been going on for years now.
Have you guys seen this blue/black or white/gold dress? It keeps changing for me. When I first saw it it was clearly white/gold, I scroll down to read about it and am very confused, but when I go back up it's clearly blue/black. It keeps changing every time I look at it! It's not like it's a little gold/white or a little blue/black. It's clear as day one, and then when I look at it again it's clear as day the other. I CAN'T HANDLE THIS!
It was white & gold for me in every picture I saw. The only time I saw it blue & black was in a vine.It showed the dress up close and then backed away from it...
Everyone I've talked to either see it as blue/black all the time or gold/white all the time. It really is changing for me all the time. Just now I opened up HuffPo and saw it as gold/white, I read the story and click back and the same thumbnail is blue/black. Clear as day. It's been this way the last 2 days. It makes me feel like I'm going crazy.
This game reminds me of those at the start of the year where they completely decided not to show up and would lose 7-1 with absolutely no effort or hustle. It worries me. Losing is losing, and every team will have some stinkers. But to play this badly, yeeesh.
Habs played a horrible game and deserve to lose. But this league is a fucking joke. Can you imagine any other league where a player tells an official to call a foul...and they do it?! I don't watch basketball or football, but I've never seen anything like that in baseball.
"The ump calls him safe. What's this? Oh, the first baseman tells him he was out. The call is changed! The runner is now out!"
That would be a huge controversy, the ump would be fired for sure. Just another day at the office in the NHL, though.
One thing MB and eMpTy will never be able to do is hide DDD on the road. Home team coach will exploit that every time. DDD should only play at the Bell Centre.
That was a stinker but I highly doubt their body clocks have adjusted yet. Moey would know. I have no explanation for what Ottawa did however, which is win all three games in Cal.
So some of the mediots are now (outside of the legal ramifications) 'apologizing' to their leaf. For what? Shouldn't they be apologizing to the other six Canadian teams and cities and their respective fans? I keep saying it'll only get worse and low and behold it does. This little brouhahahaha will last a few days and be blown over just like all the blowing the mediots do with their team. A big portion of the mediots are suddenly afraid that their turn at leaf cock pushing against the back of their throats might go missing. Suck it you sick fucks.
"Late in the first period, Luongo was hit in the right shoulder area by a shot from Leafs forward Leo Komarov. He finished the first period but did not come out for the second. He was replaced by backup Al Montoya. However, early in the third period, Montoya was also injured after a goal by Nazem Kadri, but stayed in the game with limited mobility as the Panthers scrambled for another goaltender. Eventually, Panthers goaltending coach Rob Tallas came down to the bench to serve as the backup to Montoya."
Jeff Petry a Hab for picks.
ReplyDelete... for a 2nd rounder and a conditional 5th
DeleteJeff Petry is a now Hab.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the CH Dish! Nice pickup.
ReplyDeleteDish...I like it! Nice call St. Pad!!
DeleteAgreed on the 'Dish' ! Nice.
DeleteGood one,
DeleteCan't wait for iRiRi to type DSiP then Dish. : )

ReplyDeleteGood insurance for the blueline, gives Vodkov some rest so he's fresher for the Playoffs. In DGMB we trust. Welcome Dish!
ReplyDeleteLate breakfast, toasted banana bread with peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteGMMB still has a 2nd round pick, Buffalo's (for Josh G.), which will be 31st overall. The 5th rounder is Colorado's, but if the Habs go 3 rounds they will give up their own 3rd. ReplyDeleteI don't think MB is done yet.
Dish says of all the arenas he'd played in, his performance was at the Bell Centre.
ReplyDelete*best performance*
DeleteSome pinhead on tsn is crying about how hard it is for their leaf. STFU!
ReplyDeleteSweet, salty, tears.
DeleteThey'll be crying many more for many years to come.
Bryan Flynn from BUF is now a Hab ...
ReplyDelete... for a 5th round pick.
Delete5th round pick for Brian Flynn
ReplyDeleteRumours DGMB working on getting Kessel - I hope not.
ReplyDeleteIt would simply be to score goals, no leadership expectations. I'd take him.
DeleteAgree he wouldn't be looked to for leadership but DGMB is very tuned in to players' characters and he doesn't seem to meet that quality DGMB looks for.
DeleteI agree but the goal scoring is tempting though.
Delete... but insidredger hasn't mentioned it yet ...
Deletehahahaha
DeleteCoach killer.
DeleteHmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......
Did you mean
DeleteHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmt2.0......?
Congrats PFK on 2nd star of the week.
ReplyDeleteSECOND STAR – P.K. SUBBAN, D, MONTREAL CANADIENS
Flynn says most of his friends are broons fans but he is sure they will understand.
ReplyDeleteDish wow. Good for us.
ReplyDeleteBad for Pateryn and Tin Tin.
Go Habs
Best part of the day is when insidredger make himself look stupid, which, I know is not difficult to do. The pinhead is an out and out liar.
ReplyDeleteAlways has to mention the leaf. Every fucking time he opens his mouth. They must be paying that sick fuck. He is sickening to listen to.
DeleteAnd ugly to boot.

Saku retired. *sob*
DeleteOK final hour excitement so I have begun drinking.
ReplyDeleteIn related news, I may not be awake at 10 PM game time
I like Jen Hedger's look today. Nice blouse
ReplyDeleteUnless someone disagrees, I would like to make leaf hater Ron Wilson an honorary FHFer for today.
ReplyDeleteNo arguments here.
DeleteAbsolutely. Welcome Ron!
DeletePlaid sent back to the doghouse.
ReplyDeleteTory MitCHell (from BUF) a Hab.
ReplyDelete... for a 'prospect' and a pick ...
DeleteTory MitCHell? Who???
ReplyDeleteSip!
*Torrey apparently
DeleteTory Mitchell now a Hab.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of sipping!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you can't beat the Sabres, get their players lol
ReplyDeleteWe've had enough of their weather!

DeleteTorrey Mitchel - another "depth move" by DGMB - all in all a good day I think...?
DeleteMT2.0 calls it 'dep'.
Delete3 PM! CHug!
ReplyDeleteSip!
CHeers!
DeleteWell that ended up being pretty boring in the end
ReplyDeleteNot if you hate the leaf like I do! Too funny that the mediots kept hyping this thing they call 'headline trade'. They were so fucking desperate.
Delete'Torrey' MitCHel is a Greenfield Park guy. Shall we nick him GP or TM™ (if only to keep it short?)
ReplyDeleteSip!
DeleteGPTM?
'GPTM' might be a bit muCH for our iRiRi.

ReplyDeleteOK, off to the shark tank, where i'll endeavour to watch a period tonight.

Wow! Didn't see that coming...I wonder if TSN's chart will look similar...Naaah!

sorry, TSN's rankings seem 2 weeks old. Did I mention I've been drinking?
DeleteHeh
DeleteWhy do they even bother...??!!
DeleteI've decided that TSN is just too scared to post any rankings because they would have to put the Habs too high
Deletetsn may be more dysfunctional than their leaf.

The White NAFTA is delicious. I used Crown Royal and Makers Mark with the Kahlua.

ReplyDeleteIt's obviously a high stick, but it doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteOk, on another replay it's closer. But it wouldn't matter what the video showed anyway. Tronna will never rule in the Habs' favour.
DeleteLet's be honest, it could have been 10 meters above the crossbar, it wouldn't have mattered. Why do they even bother with these reviews?
ReplyDeletePfft. The west coast disaster begins. The boys enjoy themselves too much to play hockey. Me too, I'm always drunk in California.
ReplyDeleteI dozed off during the intermission...as the great JJ Cale says "it's after midnight (so), we're gonna let it all hang out"

ReplyDeleteI don't know why I'm surprised. It's a non-playoff team with a back up goalie. Should have expected a blowout.
ReplyDeletebetter watch Saul instead
ReplyDeleteThey look dead tired.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you can simultaneously have no one in the attacking, neutral and defensive zones at all times. Where are they?
ReplyDeleteOf course it's an offside. Their best offensive threat, in that they weren't hemmed in their own zone, and they're offside. Of course.
ReplyDeleteThey can't even win a faceoff.

ReplyDeleteWow, a penalty called by the Sharks. Refs were going to call nothing, but then Sharks complain and there's a penalty. Wow. What a league.
ReplyDeleteHabs played a horrible game and deserve to lose. But this league is a fucking joke. Can you imagine any other league where a player tells an official to call a foul...and they do it?! I don't watch basketball or football, but I've never seen anything like that in baseball.
ReplyDelete"The ump calls him safe. What's this? Oh, the first baseman tells him he was out. The call is changed! The runner is now out!"
That would be a huge controversy, the ump would be fired for sure. Just another day at the office in the NHL, though.
Sorry, I know it's a broken record, but DDD is a total waste of time especially in games like this. It's kind of sad to watch.
ReplyDeleteWell, the whole game was sad to watch. Just hope LA gets back into a playoff spot before the next game so the Habs will actually show up against them.
ReplyDeleteAnother nobody goalie with a SO against the Habs. Super.
Wow...just Wow! Seriously outshot, outhit, outscored, out hustled, outclassed...I know it wasn't a big game, but seriously - WTF?
ReplyDeleteOne thing MB and eMpTy will never be able to do is hide DDD on the road. Home team coach will exploit that every time. DDD should only play at the Bell Centre.
ReplyDeleteThat was a stinker but I highly doubt their body clocks have adjusted yet. Moey would know. I have no explanation for what Ottawa did however, which is win all three games in Cal.
Ugh!
ReplyDeleteBoys left a big steamy pile in the shark tank. Heh.
ReplyDeleteTorrey MitCHell grew up in Greenfield Park a Habs fan. WTF happened to Hab-hater Gary Galley, fall and hit his head when he was a kid?
ReplyDeletePhat Phil is pissed at the mediots for mistreating Princess Pylon, on Monday he didn't care what was happening. Talk about Jeckyll and Hyde....
In case you missed it, but in Mrs. pylon's defence, lupul does have bedroom eyes.

Nice! Don't blink too muCH! Sip!
DeleteMake us proud.
DeleteSo some of the mediots are now (outside of the legal ramifications) 'apologizing' to their leaf.
ReplyDeleteWow, the only way for the leaf to get a lead:
ReplyDelete"Late in the first period, Luongo was hit in the right shoulder area by a shot from Leafs forward Leo Komarov.
It would be so cool if they lost against a goalie coach!
