ReplyDeleteGYMFHG!
I couldn't get tickets to the game, however I will be going out to watch it with some diehard Jests fans. I'll try not to start a riot as I will be wearing my Richard jersey.
ReplyDeleteNice article in the local paper...http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/nhl/price-has-it-right-297619401.html?cx_navSource=d-tiles-3
Just going to repost from last thread...
ReplyDeleteI did a little math and came up with the following:
Habs can clinCH a playoff spot on Thursday night if either one of these scenarios takes place:
-Habs win, Boston loses.
-Habs lose in OT/SO and Boston loses in regulation.
If they both lose in regulation the best Boston can do is tie Montreal, but there's still the possibility that the broons finish ahead on ROW (the real tie breaker, despite what TSN likes to make up to keep the Habs down).
Basically, I think it works like this:
Broons are #9 now. They are at 84 pts with 9 games left. So, they can get max 102 pts. MTL is at 100. So the magic number is '3', meaning that's how many points, combined, that the Habs need to earn and Boston needs to lose (not 2 because Boston could still technically win on that tie breaker). So, a Habs win (2) + a Boston loss (either -1 or -2) would be enough, or a Habs OT loss (1) + a Boston reg loss (-2).
Montreal could be the first team to clinCH, unless the following happens;
TB wins (or loses in OT/SO), MTL loses in reg AND Boston loses in reg. In which case, the Bolts would clinCH before Les Boys. And obviously both MTL and TB could both clinCH if they win/lose in OT and Boston loses in reg.
I like numbers....

ReplyDeleteSo I was perusing google images tonight looking at various X-Men ST:TNG fan fiction mash ups, as you do, and I came across Patrick Stewart wearing this. That's right, Captain Picard/Prof Xavier supporting our HABS!!!

Here's a pretty good article on tonight's back-up goalie!! http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/nhl/price-has-it-right-297619401.html
ReplyDeleteNow there's a paid women's hockey league (NWHL), gotta wonder how the refs will call those games. What kind of name is "Buffalo Beauts"? The cap is expected to be $270,000.
ReplyDeleteTimfuckingpeel tonight.

ReplyDeletebroons got 2 just about consecutive pp's and ref turned a blind eye on when they should have been called.
ReplyDeleteSeems my fingers refuse to type what my brain is telling it to lately.
ReplyDeleteGo. Habs go!
ReplyDeleteI want to see hockey tonight not a fucking pinball game.
ReplyDeleteShane Nidy (sp) praising the TEAM, saying just because TFS isn't in nets doesn't mean an easy 2 pts. That sounds so foreign to my ears.
ReplyDelete2-0 Preds over Bolts. Broons and Ducks still tied 0-0.
ReplyDeleteI want to see the Jets in the playoffs, so I wouldn't be totally disappointed if Habs take it in OT.
ReplyDeleteI echo this sentiment. 1-0 or 2-1 in a SO will be fine. Or 7-6, so the Habs can prove they can actually score
DeleteGYFHG!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Toker Go!!!!!
DSiP demoted to the 4th line. About fucking time

Toker really has no idea where the puck is tonight, (Y) just had to tell him it was under him.
ReplyDeleteToker, you should have stayed home.

ReplyDeleteKnee on knee on KidG
ReplyDeleteTech difficulties again...
ReplyDeleteKidG!!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD
ReplyDeleteTheir fans are taunting them with the OLE. I hear the fans are very good at that.
ReplyDeleteThey are don cherry classless. Hope they miss the playoffs.
DeleteI find the player to be dirty also.
DeleteNow Toker wakes up
ReplyDeleteFucking Trouba.
ReplyDeleteToker's going to lose whatever that trophy is for the team that gives up the least goals all by himself. Seriously, I hate to rag on the guy but I really miss Buddha.
ReplyDeleteToo bad, we could have clinCHed. The SFU will say it's because they can't win without TFS, but the team played well and deserved a better fate. Pavelec kept the Jets in it.
DeleteThis was pretty much the reverse of what we usually see, with one team dominating and their goalie stealing the game for them. Of course I don't remember the last time the Habs got a seive as an oppsoing goalie. Maybe LA's back up in December at the Bell Center when they won 6-2?
DeleteOh well, they're in the playoffs and have home ice (barring unbelievable disaster). I'd rather face the Wings in the first round anyway rather than a Boston/Ottawa team that's been playing playoff hockey for a month, or Ovie and the refs.
ReplyDeleteYou win some you lose some and all that crap, but what's really troubling about this team is the PP. Not just that it's terrible, but the fact that nothing has changed on it all year while it's been terrible. It gives a clue to the level of stubborness on this team (exhibit B: DDD on the 1st line).
ReplyDeleteOf course Gagnon says the team is not the same without TFS. I agree there were a couple mistakes with the D, but those early goals...Toker had no clue where the puck was.
ReplyDelete
