Just to change the subject for a second, we will be inundated with tv ads during the playoffs by Harper's Conservatives telling us how this new budget is going to benefit all Canadians. I have to say it does sweet fuck all for me why should I like it. Over to you Steve. Or moe. Or are you too drunk? Heh heh.
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! But remember, only Subban slashes, and Stone is an innocent good ol boy. It's really black and white. I meant the simplicity of the situation, what did you think I meant?
SN is very good at pointing out, re pointing out, then replaying, then discussing at length, penalties that could have gone against Montreal. No mention of the picks and interference from the Sens all night, though.
The cool thing is if there is a game 5 Geoff Molson we be forced to send some of the revenue to the sunbelt teams because the leaf isn't generating revenue.
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Wow it took them over a minute to get Price out. They were already back at the Bell in their heads. Whatever, I picked them in 5 for my nhl.com bracket.
The only thing I'm going to say is Patches has been pretty much useless so far. I know they would be giving him some extra attention but c'mon fight through it a little. They better fucking win this Friday night.
Funny, so much made about Stone's "injured" wrist, which obviously hasn't affected anything despite what SN tries to say. But Max is obviously not himself, and is a much better player, and not a word about it.
Gotta stay away from national media for a few days. It's all going to be about how the Sens are now dominating this series and the Habs are running scared. Cinderella is back on her feet, blah blah blah.
I've always thought this and I'm probably wrong but being a fan since the early seventies when you're the superior team you drag it out longer than you should. Another game at the Bell Center - more money for the owner,. The Habs were in their prime back then and still lost games they should have won. My take anyway,
Can't win them all and FWIW I kinda like the Friday night game cuz there's no work for a couple days. A dozen Sens fan friends are all over this big win. So far I've copied and pasted 'enjoy the one win'.
Well, hey, they win tonight and then we have to wait 1.5 weeks for their next game. Now we have a Friday night/Saturday morning game, and they can finish them off in front of their fans. Well, slightly more of their fans anyway.
Basically, it's interference, but more when you're on the offensive. You make a pass, and then you skate in the way of the defenceman who is trying to go cover the other guy. Something like that; offensive interference.
@Moey, your comment above, I've wondered that sometimes as well, "playing the gate". A few extra million for Mr. Molson, minus Gary's cut.
I thought the Habs should have played a more offensive game last night, I don't understand why they would play so conservative, they really had nothing to lose. Worst case scenario they were going home up 3-1. All the pressure was on Ottawa, get them down a goal or two and force them to open up, the swedish meatball would have been pinching the rest of the game, the lads would have got a ton of odd man rushes. Lost opportunity in my book.
I think it's for the best. Give them a taste of adversity. I think the top six guys were becoming too complacent, hopefully this lights a fire under their asses. I really hope so because they have been invisible this series (KidG has been a shit disturber, but they still need more). If they would have won they likely would have had about 9-11 days off till the next series. I think it's better to get one more in there (both for us and for them).
The reality is both teams didn't play very well. I know the narrative is the Senderella (I just made this up, I should tm it for TSN) found her groove and played desperate hockey, but I really didn't see that. I saw a slightly, at times, intense regular season game in January. It's too bad they couldn't step it up. Anderson was good, but he didn't need to be great (I thought Price had a way more difficult game). The only real chance was Prust's breakaway and he hit the side of the net, it wasn't even a save.
Patches was out 4 games, and the Habs scored 16 goals in that time. How did that happen? Well, I was reading one theory online today: With Patches out DDD was given a smaller role and less time on the ice (and on the PP). Other players were given the opportunity to step up and they totally did. Patches is back now, but since he's not 100% and DDD has been given the same staring role, it's like there is no first line or first wave PP. The three games he's been back, they've scored 5 goals total, with the first line getting only one and that was on the PP. There's a lot that goes into it, but it's something to think about.
Scores have been: 4-3, 3-2, 2-1, 1-0. 0- -1 next game?
HMS Hal Gill just announced his retirement. I remember his time with the Habs fondly. He was instrumental in that playoff run in whatever year that was. Thx Hal!
What's frustrating is that all the "experts" are using a 20 game stretch by the Sens to try and prove they are, as a team and individually, amazing. But let's think. What if Hammond was "injured" in game 1? They'd probably be telling us that it wouldn't have been 3-0 if he was healthy. But the truth is, he just regressed to the mean. And the same thing with Stone. He's a rookie who got hot for 20 games when his whole team got hot. But not only are they saying he would have kept that unprecedented pace up, but he would have apparently surpassed it and gone into Mario Gretzky mode. The way they were talking last night, Stone would have 10 goals by now if not for that slightly bruised wrist.
It's even more absurd because Patches is obviously playing injured, and he's actually a proven goal scorer, and it's made an obvious difference to Montreal. But nary a mention of it on SN. Not that I really expect it, because players play injured all the freaking time in the NHL. It's not some new thing.
The way they are sucking Stone's stones is just getting awkward. And the way he's playing it up, grabbing his wrist and looking directly at the camera and wincing whenever he has the chance, is just crazy. I feel like I'm watching the WWE, seriously. Can't wait to be done with these drama queens.
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethat's some big ice cream
ReplyDeleteThe gal holding the cone doesn't have stone wrists.
DeleteShould the Habs win tonight, will stone shake hands with a fractured wrist?
ReplyDeleteYou know he'll be holding it in the line and wincing. It's such ridiculous theatre.
DeleteWhy did the ref wag his finger at (Y) when (Y) was the one cross-checked in back after a clean hit? fuck off
ReplyDeleteIt was a 'major flop' according to Johnson. Dickhead.
DeleteWe should email the NHL ref ASSociation that (Y) is sexy or at least the symbol (Y) is sexy. (It is Negroni time!)
DeleteI knew it was getting close to ice cream time.
ReplyDeleteThe more Habs PP the closer we get to CASHing in on ice cream.
DeleteI kinda liked that face-off penalty call. Considering ALL the times PleXXXe gets fucking yanked in the circle. Eat the rules.
ReplyDeleteOk, well after seeing Ryan knocking the puck out of the ref's hand, I'm not as embarrassed about the penalty. Hard to hide that.
ReplyDeleteMark Stone's wrist reminds me of this
ReplyDeleteHeh!
DeleteHaha! I did that with a friend of mine after the fact to mock him.
DeleteSecond intermission all Ottawa all the time, the Habs don't matter. SFU!
ReplyDeleteOK boys, you've eased into this third period unscathed, so bury this fucking game.
ReplyDeleteAs the Negroni hits I am now realizing that that's some big ice cream.
ReplyDeleteIntermissionidiots - "What do Ottawa need to do to win?"
ReplyDeleteI guess Ottawa is "Canada's team" according to the SFUs. They are the only team worth discussion.
ReplyDeleteJust to change the subject for a second, we will be inundated with tv ads during the playoffs by Harper's Conservatives telling us how this new budget is going to benefit all Canadians. I have to say it does sweet fuck all for me why should I like it. Over to you Steve. Or moe. Or are you too drunk? Heh heh.
ReplyDeleteI need to read the budget docs but Harper can fuck off and die and I hope he has great lawyers because he can fuck off and die.
DeleteGo Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
Cmon boys end this!
ReplyDeleteNow get out there and scorrrre
ReplyDelete"If any other goalie that Carey Price, this would be a different game"
ReplyDeleteWell, sorry about that you fuckers
jonathan burn yeah was third in line for the SoCHi Olympics. Sip!
DeleteStone still following PK around slashing him.
ReplyDeleteBut remember, only Subban slashes, and Stone is an innocent good ol boy. It's really black and white. I meant the simplicity of the situation, what did you think I meant?
DeleteThat one of the two embellished.
DeleteThere's like 5 pick plays by the Sens ever 2 minutes.
ReplyDeleteC'mon, boys pull up your socks.
ReplyDeleteI just can't take the BIAS anymore! Just shut up, everyone shut up.
ReplyDeleteheely says it could go 2 or 3 OTs. I said that an hour ago.
ReplyDeleteUh ohm, Plaid gone to the room. Hope he's ok.
ReplyDeletePrice is a star, Anderson is a star.
ReplyDeleteI guess I shouldn't be surprised by a network who puts Matt Stone up there with Mario Lemiux.
Price will share his Vezina and Hart with Anderson.
DeleteGo Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSashayed?
ReplyDeleteDanny Gallivan just puked.
DeleteSome good CHances, but no finish.
ReplyDeletejuce, you forgot something.
DeleteSN is very good at pointing out, re pointing out, then replaying, then discussing at length, penalties that could have gone against Montreal. No mention of the picks and interference from the Sens all night, though.
ReplyDeletehay... just noticed: wheres manny?
ReplyDeleteI don't know how that ended up as a response to you, juce, that was supposed to be a comment on its own. I'm losing my sight.
ReplyDeleteC'mon Lego win this fucker!
ReplyDeletecmon boys how about some offense
ReplyDeleteIf not for his wrist, that was a sure goal.
ReplyDeletestone is pulling on Dish's jersey with a fractured wrist! OMG! stone, stop it!
ReplyDeleteO'man, I know...about the penalties
ReplyDeleteFUCK
ReplyDeletecrap
ReplyDeleteFUCK
ReplyDeleteLet me guess SN, that would have been another amazing goal if only Stone wasn't missing an arm.
ReplyDeleteThere's that 1-0 lead.
ReplyDeleteI know it's just superstition, but of course right when they say SHUTOUT they score.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to break a mirror over a black cat under a ladder behind the Sens bench.
DeleteWhatever, they play better from behind.
ReplyDeleteExactly
DeleteGo Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go HabsGo!!!!!!
Habs seem disinterested.
ReplyDeletePlaid is back after getting stiCHed up.
ReplyDeleteMeh.
ReplyDeleteThe cool thing is if there is a game 5 Geoff Molson we be forced to send some of the revenue to the sunbelt teams because the leaf isn't generating revenue.
ReplyDeleteClosing this out on home ice would be sweet.
Delete... but OT would be fun.
DeleteGo Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
Habs shittiest offensive effort and only down 1-0 on a fucked up D play.
ReplyDeletewheres gonCH?
ReplyDeletebeaCHed
DeleteAnderson is really enjoying hot dogging it all night. Hope it bites him in the ass.
ReplyDeleteRemember, SFUs like snet only care to make revenue off playoff games. They need the sens to win. Love how they are fucked on their NHL contract.
ReplyDeleteIf Ottawa hangs on to win, it will be 3-1 Habs but advantage Ottawa according to the cockroaches.
ReplyDeleteAre they....are they trying to lose?
ReplyDeletewell they're not trying to win
Deletemeh
ReplyDeleteOh well. It'll just hurt them more when they're taken out next game.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Barely any effort and yet they only lost 1-0.
ReplyDeleteFriday should be interesting.
Honestly though, that was the worst effort I've seen them give this series, especially that 3rd period.
ReplyDeleteToo bad, I guess they didn't want a nice long rest. Now, SFU will be all over themselves and stressing a shut-out.
ReplyDeleteWow it took them over a minute to get Price out. They were already back at the Bell in their heads.
ReplyDeleteWhatever, I picked them in 5 for my nhl.com bracket.
The only thing I'm going to say is Patches has been pretty much useless so far. I know they would be giving him some extra attention but c'mon fight through it a little. They better fucking win this Friday night.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned up-thread that PatCHes doesn't seem to be himself, maybe he's not up to 100% yet, still a bit foggy?
DeleteFunny, so much made about Stone's "injured" wrist, which obviously hasn't affected anything despite what SN tries to say. But Max is obviously not himself, and is a much better player, and not a word about it.
ReplyDeleteIf he's concussed sit him. He's not doing anybody but Ottawa any favours being out there and doing zip.
DeleteSo they schedule a game on Sexy Friday eh?!
ReplyDeleteWE'VE GOT A SERIES HERE BOYS!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCalm down. It was always a series.
I may not be the best at math but I do know you have to score at least one goal to win
ReplyDeleteRags / Pens going to OT tied at 1
ReplyDeleteGO PENS.
Good night all! Happy Ice Cream!
ReplyDeleteIn a weird way maybe they needed this wake-up cheapass 1-0 call.
ReplyDeletesnet say Ducks should put pedal to the gas. Ducks aren't Canadian.
ReplyDeleteGotta stay away from national media for a few days. It's all going to be about how the Sens are now dominating this series and the Habs are running scared. Cinderella is back on her feet, blah blah blah.
ReplyDeleteRags take it 2-1.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Ducks will sweep tonight.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought this and I'm probably wrong but being a fan since the early seventies when you're the superior team you drag it out longer than you should. Another game at the Bell Center - more money for the owner,. The Habs were in their prime back then and still lost games they should have won. My take anyway,

ReplyDeleteKinda gives me a warn and fuzzy feeling,
ReplyDeleteNeat typo.
DeleteI read a funny line somewhere yesterday (I don't remember where, it was the comments section of somewhere).
ReplyDeletePerson A: Why are Sens fans so aggressive and petty?
Person B: What do you expect? Their whole fanbase is made up of turncoats and children.
Orangeman, can you explain to me what a 'pick' is?
ReplyDeleteBasically, it's interference, but more when you're on the offensive. You make a pass, and then you skate in the way of the defenceman who is trying to go cover the other guy. Something like that; offensive interference.
Deletewhat the leef screw up in the draft
DeleteWatching jets ducks in the background and weird to see the snet SFUs cheering the Canadian team. (FWIW, I don't like winnipeg).
ReplyDeleteGoon team, hope the ducks sweep.
DeleteFor some reason not able to 'reply' but thank you Oman.
ReplyDeleteNo prob. I'm hardly an expert, but that's my terrible definition.
DeleteLooks like Kessler has just put the final nail in the coffin for the Jets.
ReplyDeleteDucks take it 5-2.
ReplyDeleteI called this series to go 5 games so I am not surprised. Habs did what they needed to do in Ottawa - win one game. Bring it home Friday night boys!!
ReplyDelete@Moey, your comment above, I've wondered that sometimes as well, "playing the gate". A few extra million for Mr. Molson, minus Gary's cut.

Did anybody get MT's take post game?

Delete2010. He and Josh were penalty killers extraordinaire...and Squid was deadly on the PP...with MAB! Should have gotten Squid for this season.
DeleteWe'll be hearing next game, all fucking game long, how stone is a calder finalist, if only he fucking writs wasn't broken, yada, yada, yada...

Bishop scores! ....on himself.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Just saw that.
DeleteHA Bishop called for tripping....sneaky bastard wasn't sneaky enough.
ReplyDeleteToo bad they didn't cash it.
DeleteHow do they keep getting those octupi in to toss on the ice? Surely you can smell them?
ReplyDeleteGoddamn it Detroit. Give up two late goals to Tampa.
ReplyDeleteFreaking Detroit, way to collapse. Darn it!
