Actually, I am okay with whatever happens. It's been another good run for the boys. I don't see them as Stanley Cup material quite yet anyway. But, I've been wrong before.
Since I don't drink on week days, I'll have to employ some Vulcan emotion blocking techniques to get through this. I'll probably miss the first period anyway.
Cooper and his team all talking about being 'pissed', they will play with an edge, TFS's numbers vs Bolts are 'pedestrian'. Playing 'pissed off' and physical didn't work for the broons nor the senaturds, so to that I say go right ahead and don't play hockey and be stupid. I am sure part of their game plan will be to run TFS. I just hope there is fair officiating.
From Dedicated Dwight Yokam is Truckin on Letterman. Just got to comment there is no commercial on this clip but nowdays its not rare to have to sit through a 3 min commercial. This is going to make the pirates very angry, You tube will not like the Pirates when they are angry. Sooner or latter someone is going to need an Internet Lawyer.
I already have a bash planned for Saturday night's third round game one Caps vs Habs, so won't be commenting on that night. But games 6 and 7 are gonna be rockin'! Game 7 could get ugly when les boys take a big lead. Stay healthy for the Caps.
And boohoo, Callahan has a booboo on his appendix.
It's only game 6. It's only the Habs. So why would we need a pre-game show right? FFS Rogers owns about 17 stations, but gotta show the Jays and poker...
They don't look to have the spark they did in the last 2 games.
The last two games (and even game 3) they looked like they were finally playing a game that suited their skills. But now they're back to this chip and chase, no traffic in front, play not to lose rather than play to win game. AKA "the MT system".
They need to stop this thing these playoffs with those giant head cutouts. It's not original, it's not funny, it does nothing to rally the team, and they're creepy. Just stop already.
It's kind of funny that in those three desperate games they played very different from "the system". They're back to the craptacular system tonight, and look at the result.
Hopefully DGMB and his management team see where the holes are. The team needs scoring and a system that encourages it. Despite being the best player in the league, TFS™ can't do it alone.
Oh dear, our Cinderfellas are turning into pumpkins.. At least losing in six is respectable. On the bright side, Tampa ain't winning anything big and shiny.
I figured they'd lose in the 2nd round, and they pushed it to 6 which is nice. Tampa really isn't as strong as they seem. If anyone watched the first round, you know Bishop is riding a huge horseshoe this spring. He didn't deserve the shutout in G7 against the Wings and he doesn't deserve it tonight. But HNIC will cream their jeans over him again in any event.
Well it technically ain't over yet. And since juce doesn't seem to be around:
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!
I know, I know, dead horse and all that. Just to be nice, I'll say "the system" instead of who I'm really talking about.
Whenever I disagree with people who say "the system" is just using the pieces it has, I will point to the last 3 games. That's what the Montreal Canadiens CAN be. Tonight is what the Montreal Canadiens ARE with "the system" forced on them. So I don't buy the BS that "the system" is the only way the Habs can win, and that it makes them play their best. Sitting back and hoping for a lucky bounce and then sitting back even more and relying on Price is not a system. No, they won't win every game they push pressure on (like G3 in this series), but they will play much better.
I'm not convinced that getting a scorer will solve "the system".
On a positive note, remember some of our more despised teams. Leafs blew the 3-0 game to the broons. Broons blew a 3-0 series lead, then a 3-0 lead in game 7 to the flyers. But they don't look like a group about to erase a 3-0 lead with just over 10 to play.
Now that he's out west, i wonder if Chiarelli will trade with MB. Habs must have something EDM need to get some of that young offensive talent (Eberle? Yakupov?). They need D. Tintin, (Y), Plaid could all be of interest to the oil. Habs need offence and a PP coach. And a Babcock.
Methinks Stamkos will be the next Ovie. Great numbers but never winning the prize. Nope, I think we're on the right path to be the next beast of the east.
It's been fun. Thanks moe for setting this place up.
I actually do think this team is on its way to being a real contender. They need a bit more scoring and a PP. And a coach that will allow those things to happen (but I've already accepted that won't happen). Things will change in the off season, the only way I'll still feel bad next fall is if DDD and MT are both still with the team (both, I can handle one and I think they'll do better separately).
When the season starts next October I'll be living in China going to school, so I should be able (in theory) to watch the games live in the morning. And I'll be a student again so 8am drinking is totally acceptable.
Thanks FHFers. I'm sure we'll drop in here during the off season to discuss various moves by the team.
Ok so we got the draft to look forward too. I hate to say it but I do not see anyway MT is not back. He was good, but not good enought to get one more kick at the can. We do not have a first line center. We have a second, two thirds, and four fourths. DDD has to play wing on the third line with Chip and Lego. First line next year from the gate. Kid G, gCHuck, Patches, Second like superplexxxe, and I have not got a fucking clue. Fourth line Dsip, JDR amd Charger. The D with DiCHe is fine. We will keep the goalie as well.
Any year you get to the second round and have two great games before the axe falls is not all bad. We really should have could have won this series. My only dissappointment is we are burning Vodkovs candle down without his final reward. Next year is the year for this team. If we do not punch on through it not going to be pretty for anyone over 30 or under five feet tall. I will just repeat, thanks Moe you make it all most as fun as being there, and hope we have lots of good discusion about our plans to win it all next year.
I think we have to remember that the Habs were extremely lucky with injuries this year. Maybe it wasn't their time yet, but they had a goalie playing lights out, a 40(ish) goal scorer, a Norris winning d-man and a healthy line up. I agree starting next year they should start their "prime". No more "steps back". No more protecting youngsters, especially gCHuck. No more 4th liners on the first line. No more elves as first line center. No more bullshit. We also have to hope that they stay very healthy.
You all get to go to sleep after this loss, I have to live my entire day thinking about it! Luckily I've been sort of busy, but that hasn't really stopped me from poking around. I still can't believe that bastard called out the team after the loss. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MOTIVATING THEM, MICHEL? You gutless bully.
The guys on 690 (who, yes, have their issues) talked about something that I hadn't really thought about: The Habs had a tough season for a 110 point club. They had a lot of 1 goal games, they weren't really able to coast in any games. It was a really hard fought 110 points, probably more than any other 100+ point team. Many said it prepared them for the playoffs, but maybe it just tired them out. No excuses, it's just a way of looking at things.
As I said, I'm not even mad. I was sure they were going out to TB to begin with, I don't know how it could have been any clearer. What was heartbreaking was that they outplayed them in 2/3 of the first games but were down 3-0. It was encouraging to see them win the next 2 (again, by completely ignoring "the system"). It's nice to think that the Habs actually dominated this series most of the time. It's just that when they shit the bed they had explosive diarrhea; special teams were a mess and this game was a letdown. TB only outplayed them 5 periods to be honest (and even the 2 before this was because MTL lost their cool). An offside goal in double OT, a last second goal...things could have been different. But they're not, and the best thing we can hope for is that it causes a shake up and the guys take something from it.
Hopefully in a year we'll be saying it was because of this that they're doing so much better (and not shaking our fists at what could have been). I think going to the ECF or beyond this year would have probably hurt the team long term, just like having a 110 point season this year is probably going to prolong some issues that should be addressed. Hopefully MB is capable of doing that, I'm certainly not.
Speaking of emotionally drained, I need to get some work done. But I really don't want to!
Didn't have a good feeling about the game and I was locked into a "work thing" so I didn't watch. I always feel this way after the season ends...empty and not quite sure what I will do next...I think I will need to absorb it all a bit more and comment later
I know one thing, this is the best place I could ever come to in order to share these feelings. You guys and gals "get it". You know what it feels like and I don't need to waste my time explaining it. My Facebook timeline is filled with bullshit pictures put up by leaf fans and bruin fans - fuck 'em - I'm not biting - I consider the source and move on. And I'll keep coming back here because you guys "get it" you know what it means to be a real hockey fan - to be a Montreal Canadiens fan. To be a HABS FAN! I just gave myself a shiver typing that!
Thanks Moeman for a great season. Let's hope we can 'er done next year eh!!
You hit the nail on the head, KmaXXX (you'll always be KmaXXX to me!). This is a safe place to let our ids run free about the hockey team we love. It's like sharing an email about your narcissistic alcoholic mother with your siblings. You're going to say crazy stupid shit, but it's all out of love and familiarity. No one else has a right to say these things, and no one else would understand. Look at our small village here, I get up in the wee hours, you stay up till the wee hours, and a whole cross section of our Native Land is represented. We're not here out of curiosity or hate. We're here because we have no lives...I mean, because we love this team.
I'm 34 (35 in a week, I'll give you guys an address where you can forward your gifts shortly), so I missed the dynasties. They actually won in 1986 on my birthday and although I have the pictures to prove it, I don't really remember it much. The only Cup I remember was 1993 and what a ride that was. I didn't just suffer through some dark years, those lost seasons make up the majority of my Habs memory. I paid real money to see them play in the late 90s-early 00s. Like, I had to work 3 whole days to afford those nosebleed Wednesday night nothing game tickets. This is the best Montreal Canadiens team I can remember. And the better they get, the more critical and antsy I get. It's one thing to get swept by Tampa in 2004. It's quite another to get swept by them in 2015.
But I'm not sad. This is a learning experience, and I approached it as such weeks ago. The real test is this off season. That'll tell us more the direction this team will take.
Word is they will both be back in the NHL next year playing for Vegas. Buttman will make the announcement soon. The team by obvious choice will be called "Hookers and Blow". It will be the only team in the league where the players pay to play.
What the hell happened? I was feeling confident they were going to win before the game (yeah I know, but more so than most times) Why did they stop playing the way the were playing that got them to game 6? What the hell is with that?
MT threw the team under the bus? Yeah, just checked the tweet by LeBrun "Therrien says his team seemed to run out of gas emotionally, which he finds disappointing" FUCK YOU you classless POS. What? How is that when they all seemed to be jubilant after the last wins and their comments that they felt they played well during the series? Sorry, but I didn't get that vibe from the team at all. Maybe that's just me but I don't buy it.
I am still annoyed. I don't mind losing, it happens, but a crappy effort in an elimination game is just annoying as fuck. Didn't even crack 20 shots for the game? Meh.
I've been out all day and finally have a chance to comment. First, let's give the Dolts SOME credit for playing a great game. I only saw the 2nd period but what I saw was Montreal put back on their heels and kept there. I recognized what was going on and decided to not get myself upset and annoyed over something I had no control over. Second, they just aren't good enough to escape from a 0-3 hole. Wasn't going to happen no way no how. Let's hope somebody has learned a valuable lesson from the last two playoffs. Last year against New York and this year against Tampa... you CANNOT be a top seed team and lose the first two games at home and expect to win a series. That's just ridiculous. At least get a split to give yourself a chance.
Also, they need to replace whoever coaches special teams. The god-awful powerplay killed them. That needs to be fixed immediately. Then Marc Bergevin has to recognize that DD has to be removed from top 6 placement. Time for AG27 to assume his spot as #1 and if LE81 is not a #2, then get one. Pleks will get you to the playoffs but not through them. Time for General Markov to drop down a spot or two as well. He's still a good player but needs to have his ice time reduced a bit.
That's all I got.
The coach is safe for at least one more season, we have to accept that.
Something we can all agree on: The commissioner and by extension NBC and Comcast are breathing a sigh of relief that the last Canadian team has been eliminated from the playoffs. By extension, leafools kypridiot, hahahrudey, fried man, huge son, simpleton, the old crotch and last but not least mclame, are probably ecstatic that they don't have to talk about the Habs anymore or discuss how the other team can win. Poor George, he's stuck with these dimwits for another month.
"I didn't play well enough for us to win the series. I think that's basically more or less what it comes down to. We lost a lot of tight games. I just needed to make that one more save in all the games that we lost and I didn't do that."
I can't believe TFS is blaming this on himself, the team let him down. You can hold your head high, Carey!
“Listen, Carey will always say the right things, I’m sure he’s frustrated, but we need to be better around him. I don’t care what Carey says, we need to be better around him and support him more. I think too many times this year he’s bailed us out and that’s got to change moving forward if we want to be a successful team in the regular season and the postseason.
“If we expect him to play the way he’s played this year every year, it’s unfair,” Subban said. “There’s going to be ups and downs and it’s tough to be at that level every single game. (Price) has managed to do it this year but we have to realize our job is to make his job easier, not more difficult.”
"If Washington advances to the Conference Final, the Capitals would no longer have a pick in the 15-to-26 range and every team below them would move up.
That means four Canadian clubs - the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens - and the Tampa Bay Lightning all stand to benefit from a Washington victory."
I'm Stressed.
ReplyDeleteLove the old cartoons.
Reminds me of the sixties.
I forgot how much drinking you have to do during the playoffs.
I'm not as young as I used to be.
Go Habs
I'm back at work this week which means waking up early(er) to catch the 1st and then side eye for the rest while I shape the minds of tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteI know one thing, this is the best place I could ever come to in order to share these feelings.
GO YOU FUCKING HABS GO!
DeleteI'm 34 (35 in a week, I'll give you guys an address where you can forward your gifts shortly), so I missed the dynasties.
Btw, where is juce? I need her optimism.
Always and forever,
GO HABS GO!
Has anyone every thought of gettimg more small skilled players who can score. I see a lot of talent in Belarus.
ReplyDeleteThursday morning we can all watch both Tits play against Canada!
DeleteWord is they will both be back in the NHL next year playing for Vegas. Buttman will make the announcement soon. The team by obvious choice will be called "Hookers and Blow". It will be the only team in the league where the players pay to play.
DeleteAfter two years of running out of gas is it not obvious we need a bigger gas tank?
ReplyDeleteMost logical comment about the Habs in some time.
DeleteA higher octane fuel would be nice as well.
It gets worse, DiCHe will be joining Babcock and Stamkos in Toronto next season. And Dsip has lost his Speedo modleling contract due to body issues.
ReplyDeleteugh
ReplyDeleteIt's my fault, I should have stayed home.
we forgive you, but it was significant that more than a handful of FHFans did not follow proven rituals.
DeleteWhat the hell happened? I was feeling confident they were going to win before the game (yeah I know, but more so than most times) Why did they stop playing the way the were playing that got them to game 6? What the hell is with that?
ReplyDeleteMT threw the team under the bus? Yeah, just checked the tweet by LeBrun "Therrien says his team seemed to run out of gas emotionally, which he finds disappointing" FUCK YOU you classless POS. What? How is that when they all seemed to be jubilant after the last wins and their comments that they felt they played well during the series? Sorry, but I didn't get that vibe from the team at all. Maybe that's just me but I don't buy it.
These are all good questions juce!
DeleteGo Caps
ReplyDeleteI am still annoyed. I don't mind losing, it happens, but a crappy effort in an elimination game is just annoying as fuck. Didn't even crack 20 shots for the game? Meh.
ReplyDeleteJust in case I didn't relay my emotions correctly. FUCK! Terrible way to end the season. Heartless. Gutless. eMTy.
ReplyDeleteI've been out all day and finally have a chance to comment.
ReplyDeleteAlso, they need to replace whoever coaches special teams.

I lean towards the later, but I think they're both decent, fair reads.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the SFU will get still their digs in against the Habs during the remaining games.
Delete"I didn't play well enough for us to win the series. I think that's basically more or less what it comes down to. We lost a lot of tight games. I just needed to make that one more save in all the games that we lost and I didn't do that."
ReplyDeleteI can't believe TFS is blaming this on himself, the team let him down.
Delete“If we expect him to play the way he’s played this year every year, it’s unfair,” Subban said.
ReplyDeleteThat means four Canadian clubs - the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens - and the Tampa Bay Lightning all stand to benefit from a Washington victory."
Montreal would pick 25th instead of 26th.
Happy birthday PFK, see you and TFS in Vegas.
