Was just reading that in le Journal de Montreal. They also mentioned some speculation the DGMB may be part of the management team of the World Cup I don't do the translation justice, but they write that DGMB is known as one of the best in his profession and after only 3 seasons on the job. If he does join, it will be his first participation since 1994 when he won Gold .
I included the text for those who are able to read it.
According the SFU network. "Armstrong, 50, served on the management team under Yzerman in both Olympiads. He will be assisted by Detroit’s Ken Holland, Montreal’s Marc Bergevin and Los Angeles’ Rob Blake, according to reports."
Montreal Canadiens defenseman and James Norris Memorial Trophy finalist P.K. Subban will serve as host of the Samsung NHL Social Lounge backstage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, offering fans at home exclusive access to the festivities and real-time trending information on Twitter. And, for the first time, fans will be able to cast their vote via Twitter among three top social media moments from the 2014-15 season. The winning moment will be unveiled during the live broadcast.
hmm, something tells me that Karlsson will win the Norris since Alfredsson will be anaward presenter at the ceremony -coincidence?
"Bergevin was a finalist for the NHL General Manager of the Year award for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. Prior to joining Montreal, Bergevin was the director of player personnel for the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup in 2010, and served as assistant general manager during the 2011-12 season. As a player, Bergevin represented his country just once, helping Canada end a 33-year gold medal drought at the 1994 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. He played 21 NHL seasons with eight teams after being selected 59th overall by Chicago in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft."
"The Clark County district attorney's office charged 32-year-old Stoll on Monday with one count of possession of a controlled substance. Security guards at MGM Grand's Wet Republic pool complex found what police believed to be 3.3 grams of cocaine and several capsules of ecstasy in Stoll's pocket during a routine search. If convicted, the charge carries the possibility of up to four years in prison or probation if it's a first offence."
So, if he's convicted and since this is a felony charge, can he cross the border into Canada when LA places the Habs? Darn, I should have watched more episodes of "Border Security".
“Ian and I were trying to help him to become a good hockey player but, more importantly, to be a good human being,” Larionov said. “I would speak to him every day; I think I spent more time talking to him than talking to my wife.”
(Pardon my language) but Fuck you MB, make gCHuck an offer he can't refuse. I know everyone has a hard on for MB, but remember how he dealt with PK? He could have signed Subban long term more cheaply then but insisted on a bridge contract, and look at their salary cap now.
MB has been great for this team, I'm not saying any different. Everyone has blind spots and I wouldn't do nearly as good at his job. I'm just saying, some things are self-evident and should go beyond "team policy".
But enough about that. Canada will now face England in the quarters. They beat them in a friendly just before the World Cup, but sport is a fickle foe. My sister is deeply invested in ladies soccer (she was the jock of the family. She was the first in our area to play rugby on the boys team in high school, forcing our school to make a girls team later on). She's been to a few Team Canada games in the last few years. Her opinion is that Sinclair isn't nearly as good as she was up to the 2012 Olympics, but the team keeps relying on her. They need to diversify because they have other talented players.
Also, it's known that the brackets have been formulated in a way to favour Canada (like all home teams at the WC). France, Germany and the USA are all on the other side. France and Germany face each other in the quarters, actually. Now that Oz has upset Brazil the path should be clear for Canada to make the finals if they play well. IF. Because they certainly haven't played well up to this point.
But they're top 8 right now, England will be tough but totally doable. I'll be watching at 5am my time on Sunday morning.
The league and Players' Association announced Tuesday that the cap will be US$71.4 million for 2015-16. That's a $2.1-million increase from this season's $69 million, more than expected a few months ago. What helped push the cap to $71.4 million was the NHLPA triggering its five per-cent escalator clause to increase the cap.
Carey Price says he « didn’t watch a single game » after MON was eliminated. Too tough for him.
That just breaks my heart. I want TFS to have a Stanley Cup because to me, he is a great human being, a great goalie and I think he deserves it. His day WILL come.
According to the wino at CP, PAP is on the Top 10 possibly to be traded list. Never saw that coming. Also, according to some SFU's, Arizona is open to trading the 3rd overall pick. They need players just to get to the salary floor, I can think of a couple of Habs that would look good in the desert. Wouldn't it be fucking spectacular if GMMB could slide in ahead of the fucking loser leaf to steal Strome from them? I'll leave the details of any possible trade to other more qualified people.
Phat Phil will be a phucking leaf phorever with that "bloated" contract.
They're going to have to eat a lot of Phat Phil's salary if they want to move him or take back another bad one. What grinds my gears (Family Guy reference) is that the putrid leaf are sitting with lots of cap room because of the damn loophole they allowed them to trade an un-tradable Clark$on to Colombus for a guy who will probably never play hockey again - well partly because of that, but still.
Why would Team Canada ever consider to re-select Blabcock to lead our National team? He has committed a decade of his life purely for money, to lose, with pain. Really, his mindset is to take cash and crash. He has sold himself to lead a bunch of losers, to keep losing. Why should he lead a bunch of current winners. Blabcock has become a fucking pariah.
The SFU are hedging their bets that their team will pick the tiny Marner, a very small yet skilled winger, he's very small but they are all now yipping that this doesn't matter. This is the same SFU that tagged the Habs as smurfs. How big is pretty boy Nylander?
The fishbowl of Montreal hockey surrounds gCHuck like a diamond laser focused on the need to fill the media with talking points. gCHucks fallout with his agent is very revealing. Whobitchacockoff gCHucks fromer agent stepped way out of CHaracter to assasinate gCHucks. Why would a fifty year old hall of famer dump all over a 20 year old. There are smoke and mirrors to be channeled before gCHcuk will be fire on ice. Whats clear is that gCHuck like hockey fans everywhere wants more from the Montreal Canadians than just winning.
I'm hoping PFK can take home a 2nd Norris, but I think EK may get it because of the end of season run the senaturds had. I have every confidence that TFS will get every award he was nominated for. The Ted Lindsay is also very prestigious as it a glowing approval accorded by your peers.
Rumblings are that Buttman will announce expansion at @5pm presser. Heard something mentioned that teams' players are not protected? or their UFAs aren't protected? Don't think I like that.
Heard on the radio, the Candiens will take part in 5 season-openers including their own. That's a lot of ceremonies, but they are prestigious and draw fans wherever they go.
Why the hell do the Habs have to open against the wretched leaf every year? There is no rivalry because there is no fucking team in Toronto. Make Ottawa do it FFS!
That said there are 3 other teams very pleased to have the Habs as their home opener. The league knows.
Good luck to Price and PK tonight. Poker night so won't be watching. Doubtful that PK takes his home, but I expect he'll need to help Carey with his hardware anyway.
After accepting the award from Ted Lindsay, he gave a very humble speech giving credit to the Canadiens organization, his parents (he was choking a little there), his wife and his teammates.
The entire narrative during Price's performance was amazing along with the sketching going colour. The Q&A with the fans and Price standing right beside them was hilarious.
Congratulations, Ladies!

$2.1M, probably what the leaf will have to eat, annually, on Phat Phil's contract. Loaded with PHun puns!

actually for a number three pick gCHuck is ahead at this point by a large margin
DeleteBased on SFU idiocy, Cam Talbot is worth straight up for the Avs' O'Reilly.
ReplyDeleteThat is dumb. COL don't need a goalie (Varlamov) and I think NY already are deep at center. These dumb fucks (SFU) like to make stuff up.

DeletePrice was looking quite dapper too.
