my fearless prediction. not only will the player the leaf get be the second best player in the draft, it will be the one they would have taken at number one anyway. That player immediately becomes the best player not playing in the NHL.
ReplyDeleteThe Colorado Avalanche have signed centre Carl Soderberg to a five-year, $23.75 million contract.
ReplyDeleteThe Ottawa Senators are trading goaltender Robin Lehner and forward David Legwand to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for the 21st overall pick in Friday's NHL Draft, pending a trade call
ReplyDeleteCOOL look at past drafts. Not much at 26, but some great picks in the second round. It just shows how hard it is to draft an impact player.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.tsn.ca/statistically-speaking-expected-value-of-nhl-draft-picks-1.317819
Nice work, moeman. Love the poutines.
ReplyDeleteFlames get Dougie Hamilton - that's gonna hurt the Bruins.
ReplyDeleteB's trying to get #3 pick and take BU D-man Hanifin. Acquiring assets to trade with the Desert Dogs.
DeleteMagnus Nygren received his QO. That way the #canadiens keeps his rights. #tvasports
ReplyDeleteReport that Chris Versteeg nixed a trade to Montreal.
ReplyDeletePierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 6 mins6 minutes ago
DeleteJust traded texts with Kris Versteeg. Say he hasn't nixed any trade, says he hasn't spoken to anyone. Says reports out there are false
Lucic may be going to LA
ReplyDeletetade is for Martin Jones, a prospect and 13th overall pick
DeleteOh boy, LA fans, hide your children.
and prospect Miller
Deleteand the broons retain half of lucy's salary.
DeleteBeaners moving Hamilton makes the Leaf Kessel trade look even more stupid.
ReplyDeleteFunny, someone tweeted now that Lucic is in LA, Habs should trade (Y) to their opponent out west.
ReplyDeleteSomething going on with DGMB and Bowman, they chat and Bowman gets on his blackberry. hmm
ReplyDeletethe Goat seems to be involved
DeleteConsidering sequin and hamilton the b have more trouble developing than us, but they work in a cespool.
ReplyDeletei gotta go to Kodi to find the draft as I have no cable
ReplyDeletekodi comes through and Boston is all the talk. They got a handful of stardust for a good D man and an animal
DeleteWonder if AZ will trade #3 for #13,14 and 15?
ReplyDeleteGeez, I hope we don't play the Sabres too often this year.
ReplyDeleteAZ just fucked the leaf over taking Strome. Hee hee.
ReplyDeletestrome is not a skater, risky pick in todays nhl
DeleteAll hail the newest leaf saviour
ReplyDeleteHoly Fuck batmann, DDD has been traded to the Game of Thrones where he will be a stunt double for one of the stars. We get naked women.
ReplyDeleteThe newest leaf saviour weighs 150 lbs and is as tall as Gary Bettman. Along with Nylander the leaf are becoming more smurfish all the time. Oh the humanity. The old Crotch will be despondent.
ReplyDeleteDrinking Guinness black lager.
Sleeman Draft.
DeleteSleeman is good. And I live in Moosehead country.
DeleteI like Moosehead too.
DeleteInnis & Gunn.
DeleteTo Saint Paddy: shot my best round of the year today---82. A 46 on the front nine and then the golf gods smiled on me and had a 36 on the back nine--- 1 over par. What a great day and a beautiful sunny day as well at the golf course.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that would make me happier is if GMMB makes a blockbuster trade.
I don't like a Sea Dog going to the dirty B's... and Don Sweeney is from just down the road in St. Stephen, NB. Ptew!
ReplyDeleteLooking like Boeser or Sprong will be coming to the Habs.
ReplyDeleteMan, seems interminable till the Habs pick.
ReplyDelete5 to go....
DeleteIs there anyone under 5'-9" TT can pick?
ReplyDeletemericans are wonderful
ReplyDeletethere goes Boeser
ReplyDeleteThere goes Boeser. Sprong?
ReplyDeleteHey leaf! You suck!
ReplyDeleteToo funny, laff fans are getting pissed because everyone's making fun of Marner's size. My tummy hurts lol
ReplyDeleteLove leaf haters.
DeleteGo DGMB Go!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome/Bienvenue Noah Juulsen.
ReplyDeleteI echo both M and Moeman.
ReplyDeleteI was on the road until around 9h30 and clicked on the TV. The snet SFU are fucking clueless and have so little actual knowledge it is frightening. They just make shit up.
ReplyDeleteDarn. I wanted them to take Sprong. Colour me disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI thought that would be the pick.
DeleteDGMB seems to like him. Quality D, big shot, big kid, well coached.
ReplyDeleteI missed most of the show. Any hot Moms?
ReplyDeleteMB sure likes his defencemen. Fuck scoring, we don't need no stinking scoring.
ReplyDeleteScherbak baby!
DeleteHe's Noah's teammate.
DeleteWell, that's enough of that. 'Night folks.
ReplyDeleteBonsoir brother M.
DeleteThat's it for me too.
ReplyDeleteDGMB will be on 690 shortly.
Sleep well, ladies soccer mañana !
DeleteNice SF, moe.
ReplyDeleteSo no trades on the Habs' front? But hey, yet another defenceman! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
Boston gets keeps getting weaker, Buffalo keeps getting stronger.
Hey guys...sorry I missed the draft...but not really...but I was pleased to see that the Habs went for size...let's hope they find a goal scorer in the later rounds. Great SF as usual Moeman. Love the doodle pics too! Nice ones all 'round!
ReplyDeleteAll these trades and not one pre-dick-ted by 'insiders' dredger or cocks.
ReplyDeleteMorning bro! Those guys just throw shit on the wall and see if any of it sticks! That's their "insider" knowledge.
DeleteFunnier still is when they do discuss it, they try to make it sound like they knew it all along or had an indication of how good/bad it would be. Buffalo and the broons proved that the SFU knows jackshit.
DeletePhat Phil is a curse. Boston ends up with a bag of pucks and a 15th pick for him boo hoo Boston. Glad to see Lurch leave the building. He was a fearsome fuck though, finished Y and Doucheshark.
ReplyDeleteSince i never heard of Juussome nickename Juce? he cant be that good. A five year project for sure but projected to be a top four. It was the first d man drafted in round one in the MB era so I guess we cant moan to much. The Pucktards are building a monster D corps, all fucking supersoldiers. I feel good about trading our 2nd for DiCHe. I watched the draft on the NBC and it was so fucking American I thought fat steve was going to put in an apperance. I hear the leaf will get money if Hamilton gets a team, of course the CH will pay $50 mill a year to support the federal team in Quebec City.
Morning from beautiful Parlee Beach in Shediac,NB. A bit of a nip in the aid & hoping for more nips on the beach when it warms up. Not too excited by the Habs draft pick but I know nothing about him so won't judge. Still holding out hope for that big move by MB.
ReplyDelete@the M. 82! Nice. Must have been a hell of a feeling playing that back 9.
Good luck to the ladies tonight.
Just turned on SN...guess who they're talking about...the amazing draft by the wretched leaf...great smaller player etc etc. Fuck me.
@Saint Paddy, Thanks! It was great playing that good and I'm not making that score up, I had two witnesses. Get your beach time in today, going to wet and windy tomorrow.
DeleteHow about the coach throws out 5 of MB's high priced D-men all at once on the PP this season? Couldn't be any worse than last year's useless crew.
Go Canada Go!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the pick but hey the new sweater design looks good...
ReplyDeleteNice;

Matthew Bradley is a Gallagher family friend and went to school with kidG's brother Nolan. Said he had no idea the Habs had in their sights and he only spoke to a recruiter once.
Nolan m’a téléphoné.

ReplyDeleteNot really impressed with the 2015 draft. I guess we'll see in 4-5 years if any of them pan out. But, what do I know? Nothing.
ReplyDeletenio second round pick hurts the narritive.
DeleteSo, one of the SFU's has now stated (since the leaf now have Nylander and Marner as their new cornerstones) that small players are "in vogue" now in the NHL. Yet, not long ago it was repeated ad nauseum by said SFU's, that Montreal was "too small" and a "bunch of smurfs" and couldn't compete in the NHL. What a bunch of two-faced fuckers. The good news is DDD is now worth something since small players are now in style. I think MB should call Doug Wilson immediately and offer DDD for Joe Thornton straight up.
ReplyDeleteАrpon Basu @ArponBasu
ReplyDeleteBergevin sounds like #Habs will have quiet summer: "We finished second overall with the team we had...I’m comfortable with the team we have”
Montreal has around $5.5 million in cap space with 11 forwards, six defensemen, and two goaltenders under contract. Most of the Canadiens' remaining cap space will likely go towards re-signing restricted free agent Alex Galchenyuk.
General manager Marc Bergevin doesn't plan on putting any of that money towards signing big names in July, in large part because he is satisfied with trade-deadline acquisitions Jeff Petry and Torrey Mitchell, who both recently signed contract extensions.
"Jeff and Torrey, that’s my July 1," Bergevin told reporters. "I'm not going to chase players July 1."
PaP on waivers.
ReplyDeleteBuyout, making cap room. So much for "I’m comfortable with the team we have”
DeleteI didn't like that one so much, but also thought he was just not showing his hand to the media.
Maybe someone will claim him off waivers and DGMB will save the entire $4M
DeleteBuyout would save $2,666,667, cap hit for $1,333,333
DeleteContract Years Remaining: 1
Contract Value Remaining: $4,000,000
Age at Buyout: 32
Buyout Ratio: 2/3
Total Buyout Cost: $2,666,666
Annual Buyout Cost: $1,333,333
If the Yotes can weirdly pay for pronger, to make the cap floor, they can afford PaP.
DeleteGot to laugh at the leaf, drafting all smurfs, we tried that it works in practice but not on game ice.
ReplyDeleteIt's "in vogue" now according to the SFU's. Fuckers. Whatever suits them is in vogue.
DeletePlus the leaf now have the inside scoop on the OHL. The SFU has nothing.
Delete.. and WTF does it say when a new coach has to come out and say that they are looking for players to be 'human'? I can appreciate that Babcock saw the immense CHaracter in Olympians like Toews, Tavares, TFS and PFK but to call out or tow the Shanny line of 'human'.? Weird.

ReplyDeleteI must have posted this in the last thread by mistake, but I was expecting MB to be quite a bit busier over the draft. The PAP buyout tells me something must be in the works (Sharp?) but who knows. If it's for nothing then it's a really dumb move. I would actually be all for losing some vets to get the young guys some ice time, except we all know the coach will not give the young guys ice time. If PAP's not replaced he'll just double shift DDD.
ReplyDeleteSo now the Habs have on RW: KidG, Weise and Dsip.
DeleteThis is the part of the movie where the good guy does something really stupid only for the audience to be later shown that he's crazy like a fox, right?
Not sure MB should be entertaining the idea of acquiring BlackHawks Patrick Sharp. He may have exercised some questionable behaviour regarding teammates wives or girl friends resulting in locker room fisticuffs.
ReplyDeleteIn other news I'm tempted to purchase the entire remastered Led Zeppelin discography on vinyl.
Sharp seems a tad expensive but if he concentrates on putting it in the net, might be worth a gamble.
DeleteThe M., do you have really good headphones? A must for the vinyl'd Zep.
vinyl, rocking old school. You could use Audacity, its a free program to transfer your vinyl to digital so you can listen to your records likes its 2015:)
DeleteSpeaking of old school and real bands Chris Squire of Yes has died RIP.
@moe, no I don't but I still have my Yamaha direct drive turntable I bought in 1979 and it works fine. I can run it through a Bose sound system we have.
Delete@Steve, I've been transferring my old vinyl through an Ion digital turntable that converts to mp3's and uses iTunes as the player. The program is E-Z vinyl/tape Mixmaster.
I already own many Zep albums but I was thinking of upgrading to the new stuff because Jimmy Page has remastered a lot of the material. He said a lot was missing on the original recordings after listening to them recently.
The Ion system is good. We use it in our labs (also their cassette version) for long, lost interviews. Otherwise .mp3 doesn't do it for us because of compression.
DeletePop on some headphones for a listen. Lots of very cool production details.
I'm getting the remaster digitally. It may lack some of the vinyl 'feel' but there's a reason why Paige et al are re-producing it so intricately. No compression, high resolution and a great marketing package too.
Blob on the radio said PAP will likely find another job but it he won't get the kind of deal he had in Montreal.
ReplyDeleteHey you fucking idiot - Colorado signed him.
When asked if there was surprise with the broons moves, he said a team needs to prepare its fanbase before making drastic changes and goes into a whole spiel about how the laff prepared their fans ie there will be pain etc...
Who the fuck cares? and what 'preparation' does their fanbase need about losing expectations when they've been doing that for almost 50 years.
the laff fans need preperation H more than anything, and Broons fans, a announcemt in the newspaper useless, most of them cant read.
DeletePAP pretty classy about his buyout. Thanked the Habs et al for his time there. Good luck to him in the future.
ReplyDeletePaP was decent Hab. Got a few important SO goals for us. Glad we didn't have to hear his agent yip, again.
DeleteBonne chance PAPS
Delete“The Los Angeles Kings today have exercised the team’s right to terminate the contract of Mike Richards for a material breach of the requirements of his Standard Player’s Contract. We are not prepared to provide any more detail or to discuss the underlying grounds for the contract termination at this time.”
ReplyDeleteHard to respect him even more now. Can't wait to see the details.
According to Dean Lombardi (via SFU's) Richards dogged it getting and staying in decent playing shape. Maybe likes the night life too much. If he was a party animal in Philthy what would he be like out in Hollywood?
DeleteSide note to phat Phil... better hit that stationary bike soon.
LA has terminated Richard's contract i/o buying him out, must really have some dirt on him. Maybe he's Stoll's supplier? Paging Donald Fehr.

Leafs 4 Stanley Cup 2016
Bad move by LA. Good news for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Richards will join the leafs I'm sure of it !
Shanny will do his magic and make a push to sign Richards. I expect a deal in the range of 7 million for 7 years. Richards is an elite talent , and he will be a very important piece for the leafs to capturing the Stanley Cup next season. Go Leafs Go !

Has to be a fake account.
DeleteOr not. LOL!
DeleteIt's for real, same person posts on the laff site with outrageous comments and that exact one also. There's another or maybe it's actually the same person going by phaneuf4norris, they post such garbage all the time.
DeleteYeah, I've seen some of those ridiculous quotes, it's some person with tongue firmly planted in cheek. He's trolling for bites, trolling being derived from "trawling" which is a form of fishing in deep water. You put out about a mile of rope with small lines and hooks about 6 feet apart and see how many fish take the bait. That's what this person is trying to do. I laughed when I read that comment.
DeleteHey Snyder, stop blaming the Liberals because your funding was cut, ask PKP to give you the money.
ReplyDeletePronger cant be in hall of fame, he is playing for Phoniex.
ReplyDeleteJust CHecking in before Canada Free Agent Day to say hello. [Dr Nick voice] Hi, everybody!
ReplyDeleteMisc comments:
@moe - great SF with much Maripier! giddyup, future Mrs. CHarger!
@the M: a 36 on on the back for an 82? I am dying with jealousy. I have shot your front 9 score many many times, never quite close to your back nine :) Mazel tov
- sorry I missed the draft, looks like I missed nothing
- Canada outplayed the Lionesses, except for 5 minutes of stupidly. Sigh.
- goodbye PAPshmear, you were... serviceable
- I have got to know what happened to Mike Richards dammit. Drugs? Must be drugs. Let's go with drugs.
[Dr Nick voice] Bye, everybody!
29, maybe MP will get married during the next Hockey Housewives series 2.

ReplyDeleteWell that could be anything! Drugs? Must be drugs. Let's go with drugs.
I heard Melnyk while talking to Mcsplooge yesterday, say that he had word from someone in "in the know" that there was an issue at a border crossing.

ReplyDeleteBrendan Saad traded to Columbus
ReplyDelete... but he wanted to be a, leaf.
DeleteThe Hawks haul on that trade seems impressive.
Deletemoe, doesn't everyone?
Deletejuce, It has become even more bizarro. The SFU is finding ways for mike richards to be a Blabcock reclamation project. Fucking weird.
DeleteI'm sure everyone knows, despite all the news about Mike Richards and Brandon Saad, MB resigned Errol, I mean Brian Flynn. And he didn't want to be a leaf.
ReplyDelete@29: out of all of us, I would expect the lawyer to be more careful with his accusations. On the other hand, I heard it was crystal meth!
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day from decisively NOT Canada. Sigh. Another 5 weeks before I kiss that ground again. Hoping to get to Montreal, too.
So now the interwebs is all abuzz over Frolik? Ok, whatever. I'd actually be fine with just dumping a couple of big salaries (cough cough DDD cough cough) and just letting the young'uns play. Unfortunately the coach will not allow that to happen, so a trade is in fact necessary.
By the way, still no word on a new PP coach, eh? Huh.
