Merci Moeman! You've just picked up my overall hockey spirit - which has been very low for the last week! Nice ones all 'round! I love Susan Sarandon! Shows you what a dickhead Jeff Goldblum was to have let her get away. As the first to comment - may I suggest that we don't discuss the Habs in comments in this thread - I think we all need a break and will have plenty of opportunity as the weekend games approach...unless...the unthinkable happens...
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Tim Robbins.
DeleteYep - that's who I actually ment Moeman - Tim Robbins...not sure where Jeff Goldblum came from...other than I think he's a dick...
DeleteI always kind of liked Jeff Goldblum, thought he was really good in Jurassic Park I and Independence Day.
DeleteI think Jeff was married to Thelma, aka Geena Davis, also very easy on the eyes.
DeleteAlways liked Goldblum, sometimes smarmy but very funny guy.
DeleteDidn't somebody peg Jeff Goldblum to play the part of DGMB in the John Scott movie?
DeleteRockey Horror Picture show and lemon juice Casino
DeleteHe was also a fly I believe.
DeleteGo Habs
Susan Sarandon!! Still sexy at 69 dammit. good stuff moeman
ReplyDeleteGorgeous woman and love her snark too.
DeleteCHarger sightings!! Thanks moe!
ReplyDeleteIts a nice car. ; )
DeletePlease forgive the re-post, but I'm kinda' proud of this:
ReplyDeleteHere is my little contribution to the debate, (sung to the tune of "Stand Down Margaret" - apologies to the English Beat):
I said I see no goals
I see only losses
I see no chance of a play-off tomorrow
So stand down eMTy
Stand down please
Stand down Therrien
I say stand down eMTy
Stand down please
Stand Therrien
You tell me how can it work
With this “process” of yours
All these chip-ins aren’t working,
We want a third goal scored
Stand down eMTy
Stand down please
Stand down Therrien
I sometimes wonder
If I'll ever get to say
Come with me my children
To the Stanley Cup parade
Our hopes seem desperate in your dump and chase plans
Would you give a second thought
Would you ever change the process, I doubt it
Stand down eMTy
Score!
Everybody shout it
Stand down eMTy!
DDD, cut his power play time
More gCHuck at Centre
We score
Score, score, score, score, score
Score, score, score, score, score
Score, score, score, score, score
Score, score, score, score, score
Score, score, score, score, score
Stand down please
Stand down EMTy
Stand down please
Stand down Therrien
I say stand down EMTy
Stand down please
Stand down Therrien
Very nice!
DeleteGreat use of English
DeleteThanks for SF Moe, all thats left of this season
ReplyDeleteI admit that I am not a football fan and don't know much about Cam Newton but I just heard a 'speech' on the radio Bruce Arthur did about him (actually not the first time I heard it) which goes on to say what exactly has Newton done wrong? he likes to celebrate? along those lines and each time I did hear it, all I kept thinking was you could replace Cam Newton with PK Subban. Funny he never came up with the same 'speech' in defence of PFK.
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong but isn't there some rule in football which dictates the way you can celly or do a victory dance? If that is correct, then why is one player being defended for it and the other isn't especially if one sport has rules against it? Like I said, I don't watch much football and could be totally wrong, just seem to remember someone telling me this once.
NFL = No Fun League or National Felon League... take your pick.
DeleteLove Cam Newton and his Superman impersonation after he scores a TD. Fuck Roger Goodell.
I am going to wade into the football discussions that are bound to surface at some point later today - Please note this: Broncos by 4 (maybe 23-19) There - I said it! Mock me if you dare - I can take it!
ReplyDeleteI know we were only going to keep a positive vibe here today with no mention of a certain hockey team or their coach but I am curious to know the francophone media's take on the situation. Whom are they blaming? Do they want certain people fired or traded?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can gleam from their ramblings with my limited understanding of written French, I believe they think everybody except eMTy and DDD are expendable.
DeleteThey have been defending MT since the drop and saying it just wouldn't be fair to fire him now because Price is out and said any decision to fire him should only be considered if the trend continues when Price returns. Fast forward, now it's well, the players have to step up and DGMB has to provide his coach with the players. Last night on AC it was well, we saw everyone from the farm team and there just isn't any player who can be an impact player, they cited McDavid and Eichel or just look at the Wings, they had an injury, call up Nyquist and he made sure he wasn't sent down. Demers said he really thought that Galchenyuk has so much talent he thought he would be the one to shine but 4 years later, what has he done?
DeleteDon't they realize that what they are really saying is that other coaches/teams develop their players and that is not the case here? I saw McDavid used on the PP last night, this is his first time in the NHL, we all know how many years before Galchenyuk got any PP time and we all know that he was drafted as a centre and this was the first year he 'given a real shot'only to be moved to wing again.
Though they did grudgingly say MT shares some of the blame, they did question some of his decisions but also turned around to defend saying a coach can only use the tools he has to work with and he is just trying to make things work.
At today's practice....same lines, nothing new, rinse and repeat.
DeleteThis can't be? Can it? Price in his crease this morning???
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/ArponBasu/status/695615908325232640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
This reply had me in stitCHes.... "I think the NHL is taking this equipment shrinkage topic a little too far"
DeleteIs it Carbo or Boucher, a move is moving
ReplyDeleteWould have to be Boucher.
ReplyDeleteSomething must be done.
Get rid of the twit.
go Habs
Spoliers but dont miss the Expanse
ReplyDeletehttp://io9.gizmodo.com/how-the-expanse-pulled-off-two-miracles-at-the-same-tim-1757165102
Listening to this guy now with Marinaro who posted his solution for the PP.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nhlspecialteams.com/blog/2016/2/2/heres-how-to-jump-start-pk-subban-and-the-montreal-canadiens-pp
a lot of second guessing there
DeleteStrange that Peter Yannoupolis, a basketball insider, states he was told that Carbonneau spent 3 hrs with senior management last night.
ReplyDeletePeter Yannopoulos @PeteYannopoulos 11 mins11 minutes ago
As most sports franchises do with past greats, Habs have solicited Carbonneau's advice for their current situation. Not uncommon.
Peter Yannopoulos @PeteYannopoulos 2 hrs2 hours ago
I was informed that Guy Carbonneau met with the #Habs senior management last night for 3 hours.
Maybe management just wanted to go over the guidelines of questions MT doesn't like to be asked post games.
If you ever listen to McSplooge's self-promoting commentary, he would be the one the Habs ask for any insight because, afterall, that's who all the GM's turn to.
DeleteApologies to K3X, things just seem to turn towards the Habs, their like a freaking boomerang.
ReplyDeletehttp://montrealgazette.com/tag/aislin-and-pascal-editorial-cartoons
ReplyDeleteJust call me Denzel.
DeleteGonna go see "Hail Caesar!" tonight. Long time since I've been to the movies to see a non-action flick.
ReplyDeleteHas there been any word on Lessio?
Also, juce mentioned mcsplooge above. Reminded me that he wanted the GM job back when MB was hired. Probably still interested. Think on that if Molson cans MB after this season.
we have seen enough spooge already. When a 23 year old kid can outdiagram EMty on the PP its time. When DDD gets development time at center instead of gCHuck its time for change. When an NHL practice is just going through the motions its time for change.
DeleteGoing Tuesday. Early reviews are great.
DeleteLessio out for 3 weeks.
DeleteSaint Paddy, I just picture him having a meeting with the coach telling him all about his dinner with this guy, dinner with that guy, going off on tangents about when he was in Europe how the Swiss people are and how that people are and how he learned under Scotty Bowman , just look at how the Bruins are, how great Bab$ is, Mike and I were tweeting last night btw...and really not end up saying anything pertinent to him at all. Coach leaves his office the same way he enters, rolling his eyes.
DeleteLast year I purchased a knockoff Habs sweater from Winners for $30. It's not quite right with a blue neck, no stripes on the arms or at the bottom but it's red and the crest is right. Anyway, my lovely wife purchased an authentic jersey for me for Christmas. Says she paid $200 for it. I said I love it, but...that's a lot even for an authentic sweater. I've been hemming and hawing ever since - haven't worn it. I've made my decision. It's going back. From top to bottom, this team has done nothing to deserve one red cent from me. If by some miracle they start winning and keep winning, maybe I'll run out and replace my Christmas present with a hoodie which I am in need of. I am disgruntled.
ReplyDeleteI normally wear a Habs tee on game day. Been a while. To make things even more FHFun, I'm surrounded by Sens and leaf fans.
DeleteKeep the faith. I'm actually wearing a long sleeved tee at work right now. Leaf fans crawling out of the woodwork to advise me on how terrible the Habs are is quite hilarious. Babs will have them in the playoffs next year and competing for the cup in three is what I'm hearing.
DeleteThey've refined that losing is winning.
DeleteMrs. Paddy likely put her heart and though into picking something you would probably like to have and not consider to buy for yourself. (my son got mine a couple years ago for Christmas or maybe it was my birthday) If I may be so bold to suggest, keep it, I'm sure the time will come again when you will be proud to wear it...besides, the price will only go up in the future.
DeleteYeah, and Bab$ says he'll stay an additional 2 years because the team will be 'that good'. Man is this guy ever full of himself.
DeleteI have two genuie T's. Both bought at the Bell Center on sale after a trade. Halak and Big Tits
DeleteThe Scott household now has two new healthy baby girls. Congrats to the entire family.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
DeleteCheers to that! May they remain far far from the Flint, MI public water supply.
Delete4 little girls. Great Scott!
DeleteI'm pretty sure he's the greatest dad, much like the George the StaCHe seems to be with his little girl.
Beautiful names for 2 beautiful girls, Sofia Leland and Vera Estelle Vera.

oops, that should be Estelle Vera.
DeletePierre Houde is someone I respect.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.chom.com/habs-report/2016/02/04/last-nights-loss-may-have-been-the-fatal-blow-to-this-season
http://www.chom.com/habs-report/2016/02/05/lots-of-people-critical-of-therriens-words-wednesday
To elaborate, I don't think I've ever hear him say anything negative towards anyone and I don't think he would say shit if he had a mouthful. They way the leaf treated him when he showed up for a game (last season or one before?) was totally classless, they couldn't find one seat in the whole building for him to sit and send him to a resto they own that didn't even have the sound on the TV? He never complained about it at all and even tried to put a positive spin on it.
DeleteTherrien is and always has been a dick. Answering legit questions about the game his team just lost with the contempt he was showing wasa disgrace. It is a complete return the the regime they replaced. TFS has a fucking buggered knee - not a "lower body injury". Grow some fucking balls Bergervin and talk to us like adults. Your team (it's on you remember) sucks big time and your coach hasn't got a fucking clue so unless you are looking to get fired too you have to swallow whatever you need to swallow, rinse and start over! (sorry - broke my own vow! Sue me - I am a Habs fan!)
ReplyDeleteAccording to Nilan, there was a function last night at the Bell Centre, he was invited but did not attend due to family issues and says that Carbonneau was there and as hockey people do when their together, they talk hockey, simple as that. There was no 'sit down' or special meeting with the brass.
ReplyDelete*they're* together..
DeleteI want to thank juce for the reply above regarding the franco media. It is as I suspected, they will defend their own regardless of performance, despite the fact he has a far worse record than beleaguered anglo coach Randy Cunneyworth. Would they have won a few more games with Carey Price in net? Perhaps, but they would have had to win many, many of them 2-1, maybe 3-1 with Max or Pleks getting their usual empty netters. Nope, this mess leads back to management and development of prospects, a problem I thought they resolved with all the hires made by MB. Seems they still don't get it OR as many have pointed out, Therrien is only interested in immediate results, hence his heavy use of veterans, even when they suck, instead of playing youngsters.
ReplyDeleteI have two Habs jerseys, a home and away. They are so old they were made by CCM. I haven't worn them in some time, there has been no reason to lately.
I wouldn't be adverse to Carbo's return, as long as he is told up front: Play the kids, all the time, live with their mistakes, don't worry about the standings. And for the love of God put DD on the 3rd line or trade him and release Pateryn from purgatory.
Admittedly, I get the 'French perspective' mostly from AC, I don't read the papers much and I rarely watch TVA's Dave Morrisette (they have recycled RDS Bergeron over there) so I can also view this as former coaches defending coaches and their former colleague. On the other hand, DDD is still a star and always will be. Mind you, d'Arche makes some very good points and sometimes corrects them when they say certain things about some of the players.
DeleteI saw someone tweet this to Wilde, coaches records in their last 26 games to their firing I believe it was.
Deletehttps://twitter.com/coutalex27/status/695326752088924160
Same table, fired coaches last 26 games record since 1993.
Deletehttps://twitter.com/coutalex27
I read an insteresting comment about how all the other young centers get to play center and make mistakes. Not ours.
DeleteI heard that KidA emailed the boy who caught CHip's puck and invited him meet him in person.
ReplyDeleteCourage, Zack. http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/montreal/zak-kassian-on-montreal-trouble-1.3434877
ReplyDeleteI really hope he can turn his life around, which is more important than hockey is and I wish him well. A lot of people trashed Bergevin for trading him and not giving him a chance, but isn't that exactly what he did when he traded Prust for him? Today Nilan stood by Bergevin's decision to trade him and he thinks THAT may have helped him too and now he has to learn how to stay clean, only he can change it.
DeletePeople also say that Kassian made his choice, but addiction is often the monster that makes the choices for you, not yourself. I hope he beats his demons.

ReplyDeleteGood little interview exchange with Habs Dale Weise this morning. Check out his wry smile during my first question. http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=802778 …
This just in, John Scotts newborn twins have stripped DDD of the puck.
ReplyDeleteKa-CHow!
DeleteZinger!
DeleteNot his fault - I mean if you stack them, they have 3 inches on him.
DeleteIf EMty where not coaching the Habs he would be?
ReplyDeletea)the prinicpal of the school in Footloose?
b) the guy in charge of the NFL concussion policy
c) Head of a telecom or oil company
d)Nurse Cratchett
DeleteWe live in a world where somone is making over a million dollars a year to decide the way to rescue Playboy is to eliminate nudity. Having EMty as coach makes perfect sense in this context.
ReplyDeleteI NEED 4HF HELP - Poutine I anyone got a quick and easy sure fire recipe for traditional poutine. My son is a trained English chef who has asked me about it. He's saying cottage cheese is called for?
ReplyDeleteK3X, you need to use curd cheese if not available, the next best would be broken pieces of mozerella.
DeleteImportant blogging news at the new thread kids!
