In the words of Rodney King, why cant we all just get along. I went to my daughters Grad in the beautiful U of T convecation hall yesterday. The key note speaker was a Dr Schindler, the guy responsible for getting half the phosphate out of waste which saved the great lakes and many others, and for stopping acid rain. He did this using a lake in northern ontario as a lab. Harper tried to shut down this lab. He told the grads they faced the greatest challanges mankind has every faced, but felt they were up to it. The next speaker had the same messge but told a joke which clearly describes the problem. Its the false logic that got that beautiful MP murdered. Good day folks! Yeah, not too much going on in the hockey world. Only things I've noticed are Carolina trying to get better (but trading is hard), Phat Phil won a Cup once he escaped the toilet bowl he was playing in (again, trading for help is SO hard) and the NHL is expanding into more desert areas. Meanwhile, Molson, Bergevin and Therrien are out turning over rocks looking for help (remember that wretched press conference?). The only thing they'll find now are June bugs. More bad days than good lately, I found out I will be having spine fusion to cure a wonky back that is deteriorating weekly, I notice it more and more all the time. Hopefully I'll be relatively pain free in the near future. In the meantime I'll carry on and get my rounds in.
I met with the surgeon last week, a fellow golfer sympathetic to my cause, if he does me this fall he said he'll have me back on the course by next June or July. Here's crossing my fingers.
Happy belated SF y'all. I left Thursday, spent a few nights at a relative's place and just got home today. R.I.P. Jo Cox, sick fucks roaming amongst a population of unsuspecting innocents.
I thought I would come back and have to throw away my lettuce experiment since I wasn't here to change the water daily, but to my surprise, a new lettuce is actually growing. woohoo, finally something even I can't kill.
Good article in today's Star by Bruce Arthur pointing out how boring Gary's league has become. No goals = no excitement. Some good quotes by Ray Ferraro. There's an easy cure as I see it, first, get rid of all the old, dinosaur, defence first coaches including the likes of the brain dead eMpTy. Second, make the rinks bigger, give the skilled players some room to work. Good hockey players know how to score goals and create openings. The first thing these asshole coaches do is beat any creativity out of them when they come out of junior or college. All the whole damn fraternity thinks about is goal prevention not goal scoring. Next, the cheatin' goalies. Shrink down that equipment so there is something to see and shoot at. Remember when guys like Lafleur, Cournoyer, Mahovlich or Bobby Hull could come down the wing and rifle one to the far side? You never see that anymore. It was beautiful. Back then goalies would hug the post to protect the short (or AHL) side and if they got beat to the far post so be it. They tipped their hat to the shooter and moved on.
More and more I am drawn to watching the kids play in junior, lots of mistakes but lots of dangling, goals and excitement. Basically the only reason I watch the NHL anymore is I am drawn to the Habs jersey but with each passing losing season I am losing interest. Let's face it, the club is living off their past glory, but I figure sooner or later savvy Habs fans will not fall for this ploy any more.
Next Friday will be interesting to see if Bergevin makes a move to try and recover from the mess of last season and his "Fuck you we know and you don't" shite press conference. If I was to give him a grade for his performance last season he would get a big fat F as he watched his first place team go down faster than the Andrea Gail. I don't believe for one fucking minute they didn't know Price was done for the year. It was all a big lie. His coaches and their "System" or "Process" are shit but he wouldn't admit it.
OK, that's my rant for the day. Cheers! More Black Grouse and ginger ale coming up!
If I have to play, its alright, unless its not play then I quit. The goose that laid the golden eggs is on life support, cause of some buttman on the face.
It's kinda fun to read all the back and forth on the different forums, oh hell, HI/O, the various trade scenarios people come up with. One thing I've noticed is the sheer horror of some people if this player or that player gets traded. I'm probably guilty of it too but when it comes down to it there are only two players on the Habs I would not trade, PK and Price and I'm not 100% on Price. I might miss kidG but if the package was good enough I'd move him too. Maybe I'm too drunk to think about this. This U.S. Open is good, Oakmont is a tough course, I'd probably shoot 120 at that joint even from the forward tees. "Hic".
Well DJ Cokehead tamed Oakmont like nobody else could. Who knows - maybe he's cleaned up his act, hard to imagine the Great One would have let him hang onto Paulina otherwise. Speaking of said fox, and god bless you for flauntin' it if you got it...but if your lovely white mini-dress is so short that you need to keep tugging on the hem of it as you walk...maybe add a few inches. Just a thought - but i'm good as is.
Final thought about the golf...as DJ heads up to the 18th tee, the crowd is chanting U-S-A! U-S-A! WTF is with Americans and their chanting of those letters. I've heard it in some very inane environments. Those people chanting that probably also have a loaded revolver in the glove box because it's their right to protect themselves...
Anyway, had a very busy Father's Day working on the landscaping in the back yard. Did stop for a nice steak on the bbq and a nice Garrison Nut Brown. A bit late, but about to have a slice of spice cake with peanut butter icing and a side of butterscotch ice cream.
Yeah, Paulina, that was quite the outfit but you wear it well. And, it wasn't as trashy as Ricky Fowler's GF at a tournament he won a couple years ago. Still, congrats to Dustin Johnson for winning after that major fuck up at last year's U.S. Open when he 3 putted #18 to hand the win to Jordan Spieth.
As for our American neighbours nobody can accuse them of not being patriotic, although they get lost in their enthusiasm from time to time. They do tend to be the most inward looking nation in the world though. All those "patrons" who like to yell and scream to hear themselves on TV later should take note of the European crowd who tend to politely clap after a good shot or putt.
Today's Father's day feast was BBQ chicken, baked potato with melted cheese and bacon bits, green beans, cucumber and fresh rolls. Dessert was strawberry-rhubarb pie.
McLame will replace his replacement? While some might not like Strombo, he is not to blame for the SFU sick fest which goes on and on and on. Viewers tuned out because they are pathetic leafers, plain and simple. The country is sick and tired of having the leaf forced on them ad nauseam.
I have no issues with Strombo. Compare his first season to what mclame pulled off. Pathetic that the complainers suggest his 'skinny jeans' turn them off the game. Yeah. Sure. Go back to your fucking clown show.
Also, Strombo, an avowed Habs fan, barely mentioned his favourite team, because he knew he'd get ripped. The rest of the SFUckers are a cage full of organ monkeys for ml$e.
I'm happy for George. GTFO now. Best for his career not to be associated with that shitshow and I doubt he's too beat up about it. Leaving the SFU leafoolery aside and just look at the production...if none of the so-called on air 'talent' are able to (or don't have the balls to) convince their producers just how dumb the whole setup is with the idiots playing with their sticks in the studio and the whole 'magic puck' or whatever the hell it is and the fact that a good 50% of the staff are just not good hockey analysts, period, then Rogers is going to see a lot of lean years. Oh wait, McLame will save them. Never mind.
I don't care any more. Strombo couldn't save that mess anyway. Kypreos and pjsuck ruined it for me, oh, and still using the nearly blind and getting senile Bob Cole for Habs games? I said this before, Strombo wasn't really suited for that role anyway, he needs to go back to his roots and take over "Q" from Shad, who doesn't bring much to the table.
HNIT became a leafool gong show long ago and like climate change it is here to stay.
Kind of ironic reading an article today on the NHL not choosing Quebec, Nordiques' fans, according to the article seems to say about Montreal what we are saying about the SFU. (though I think it goes deeper than that)
Agree about the 'skiny jeans' moeman. Every single time I ever read any comments about SFU viewership being down, the jeans were mentioned.
"The anger or hatred toward Quebec's biggest city comes from the fact the media, TV shows and other cultural content seem to be from Montreal or about Montreal, he said.
"It's that big city you always hear about," Cauchon said. "We're sick of it. The people of Quebec City hate that everything they consume almost all comes from Montreal."
Hab's home opener will be vs the Pens Oct 18th. The Toronto cup now sucks even more by delaying the entire NHL season, which starts on Oct 12, by a week. Soon the regular season will be ending when the post-season usually does.
'Canning Strombo is like trading a good young centre with upside because his linemates drag his performance down.'
According to Craig Custance:
"Chicago traded Brandon Saad to Columbus, according to an NHL source, in part because of the possibility of an offer sheet from the Montreal Canadiens."
I don't know if BBB has the gonads to make an offer sheet, seems to be an unwritten taboo.
Andersen = Toskala redux. Stinky is going to Detroit Rock City. leaf are getting their franchise center this Friday. eMpTy has hired a personal trainer for Davey so he can play top line minutes and all two minutes of every PP.
While I understand why he wants to play, I wish he was only ready for the Habs' season, not the torontocup.

The UK is having a referendum tomorrow about being a part of Europe or not. So there has been a countdown of sorts until 23 June running for some time now. Frankly I am more worried about the countdown to Canada Day. With that fuckwit having his hand on the PFK trade button I am really worked up about him hitting it over the weekend. But like Juce if it is done the Habs will be dead to me for a long time...8 days and counting...
I keep telling myself it won't happen but after all the BS since MT pulled on PFK since he became his coach, I question their sanity. I'm hoping Molson can see the stupidity of even consider trading PFK and smack down the hammer on BBB's trigger finger. I also think Muller would have some input now as associate coach and he likes PFK - finally an ally in the organisation who recognises talent, woohoo! (according to his answer to a about which non-blues player is his favourite to watch, hehe, bet MT didn't know about that before he was hired)

Bergy has worn out the controller on his playstation, so no changes for next season predicted. DDD wants an extentsion, not a contract a ladder so he can wash the roof on his SUV.
So...ahh...where is dat Arrogant Fuckface guy eh? I like him. He knows stuff. Like I'm not him. I bet if he were here he'd tell you to not worry because he knows and you, I mean we all don't. He's probably right and knows best like how it's in the best interest of the team to pick the best available Quebecois player. Is probably wat he tinks, right? Frogs right...pfff. Doze guys man dey know hockey. Dey know dat PK is too flashy for ol' AF so should probly go. Bet we could get Vinnie AND Fleury in a tree way deal for Price and Subban. Might even get a 5th round pick. Trus doze guys AF GQ. Dey know. You...we don't.
Molson will not allow the dumpster diver to trade PFK no matter how much Arrogant Fuckface hates him. Captain Kirk will be coaching the team by Christmas and even Rejean Tremblay will welcome him. Now, if BBB can get off his arse and somehow get that #4 and snag Dubois the world will look a little brighter.
Would it kill this damn organisation to at least PERSONALLY wish PFK good luck? Why can't they ever endorse him publicly? is it against the rules? Screw 'em, I'm rooting for you, PFK!
Again, not suggesting the Habs will trade Subban. Just relaying that teams are calling more frequently now that July 1 no-move is closer...
ierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 51 minutes ago Is there really a deal that would make Marc Bergevin blink? Pretty hard to replace a player like Subban. But some teams desperate for top D 80 retweets 65 likes Reply Retweet 80
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 53m53 minutes ago Canadiens are not shopping Subban but other teams are indeed calling and more frequently as July 1 no-movement clause approaches...
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 53m53 minutes ago Hearing that volume of calls has increased significantly for the Habs from other teams re: P.K. Subban in last 48 hours. What that means?
HANG UP THE PHONE, BBB, YOU WILL ONLY GET FLEECED, YOU HAVE WHAT OTHER TEAMS DO NOT, KEEP IT.
The SFUckers want PFK gone from Montreal because they are, and always have been, jealous of his abilities, skills and larger than life personality. The would love to see him gone from the leaf's division so that he doesn't detract from their glorious plan to put Auston Matthews and possibly Stamkos on the tsn/snet/hnit pedestal for all of Canada to worship at. Banish him to the hinterlands of western Canada so that easterners will be forced to stay up to the wee hours of the morning to watch him play with McSaviour.
Geoff Molson didn't step in and sign PFK to an 8 year deal to allow some fucking has-been or hater to trade him away two years later. Not gonna happen. I don't like the arrogant know-it-all berkshire but he is right about the click bait and I am guilty of it myself. tsn is just trying to generate revenue with all their bullshit trade/draft hype. IATG.
Also, I don't think Carey Price would allow PFK to be traded and I bet he would tell BBB: you trade him and I'm gone in two years.
The SFUckers have already begun the post-rebuild throat cramming. I thought tsn would calm down a bit but they are up against some seriously sick fucks at snet. I've said it before, it'll get worse before it gets better and it'll never get better. The SFU are desperate and they will flamethrow the other 6 Canadian teams to prop up their leaf.
And PFK snubbed once again. How is it possible that a guy who makes "the biggest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history." not win?
HabsLaughs @HabsLaughs 4h4 hours ago Can the Habs leave Michel Therrien unprotected in the expansion draft? Not that anyone would claim him...I just want to have the option.
I do not want to see PFK traded. Even working with the yoke of EMty on him he soars. If he was let free we would win the cup this year. He says a lot of stuff that is good, and a lot of stuff I will put in the immature catagory. His relentles self promotion is jarring to the crotch corrner people and likey his teamates. It would be to me if he had not already proved over and over his heart is in his chest.
It's great what Giordano's doing for his community and we ought not belittle that...but really? Is the fucking Mob running the league now? Let's not pretend race has nothing to do with the way PK is treated. But a name like Giordano. Uncle Sal maybe 'convinced' the league (or whomever votes on this award) to go with the 'obvious' choice. *No offence intended to any Italian FHFers. Fucking league.
And BBB could have gained a bit of credit back by simply stating "WE ARE NOT TRADING PK....trades are hard."
BBB would never say that, it would be too much like he was supporting him or something and when did BBB or MT ever support or endorse PFK for anything, anything at all? Yet, even with the way they always paint him in a negative light publicly, teams are still calling BBB about a possible trade.
"There's no question, if we are going to win a championship, we need [Price] there," said Subban, who had 51 points in 68 games. "But we can't forget that we didn't get enough from everyone else this year. We can talk about Carey, but I don't think we had enough guys that performed well enough for us to make the playoffs. It comes down to that. I don't think we did enough as an organization to make ourselves a playoff team regardless of whether we had Carey Price or not.
"There is no question that if Carey Price comes back we are instantly a better team but if we think that we are just going to walk into next year and make the playoffs because Carey is back, this League is too good. You saw it this year and through the playoffs, it's too good and we need everybody to be better from the top of the organization down."
Everything he said is true, right down to those last 7 words which will be held against him by those at the 'top of the organization' until they fade into the past and he probably knows it.
That is just a fucking awesome statement by the team's best player. He's almost daring them to react..."come on you fucking pussies..trade me. I double dog dare ya you fucking knobs"...
That is a leader quote. He's earned the right to call out all in the organization. PK has always held up his part of the bargain, from the day he was selected in the draft. Love it.
Maybe the truck company ought to be sued for short sightedness and dimwittedness by thinking ZK was the guy you want to attach your name to, considering his background issues...
The Journal de Montreal says in it's lawsuit the company claims it had loaned the Ford F-350 to Kassian in the hopes of establishing a business relationship with a well known sports personality.
I always thought the "my girlfriend was at the wheel, not me" part of the story deserved further scrutiny. If this doesn't get settled out of court,...
The only thing he said that was true is that PK is a huge component of the Montreal Canadiens and the fabric of the community. Otherwise it was complete and utter nonsense.
TSN Radio VancouverVerified account @TSN1040 Benning on PK Subban: Yeah, we've been one of the teams that have talked to them. It's a high price, he's a true #1 defenseman
Benning: "nowhere near close" to a Subban deal but expects if there is a deal to be made, negotiations would go through the night tonight
Also, Аrpon Basu @ArponBasu 27 minutes ago Jim Benning just openly said he will call Steven Stamkos when the negotiating window opens on TSN radio in Vancouver
And Benning also confirmed his interest in Milan Lucic and how he'd like to find time next week to sit down with him and sell him on Canucks
To which Melnick replies: Subban, Stamkos & Lucic. Is he at the hotel bar?
Andrew Berkshire @AndrewBerkshire 5m5 minutes ago So media with a vested interest in generating hype and other markets are all in on a Subban trade, Montreal media seems highly skeptical.
Andrew Berkshire @AndrewBerkshire 34m34 minutes ago Weird that the year with the worst tv ratings for hockey in like a decade would magically have all teams blowing up their cores. Hmmmmm
Sara Diamond @saradiamond 29m29 minutes ago Subban isn't going anywhereeeeee don't believe the hype rise above let's go
Sara Diamond @saradiamond 18m18 minutes ago oh yeah ps my last tweet was just my opinion I don't have any inside scoop but I have MTL LOVE and PK is part of that
Canadiens Montréal @CanadiensMTL 43s43 seconds ago Buffalo, NY "When teams call about P.K., I listen, but I say no." - Marc Bergevin on the numerous rumours surrounding a trade involving Subban
All he has to do is say PFK is NOT for sale, he won't get calls and there won't be rumours, but he won't do that, he won't give PFK a foxhole. I guess he'd rather waste his time answering the phone to say 'no' instead of putting his efforts to good use - no wonder it's hard to make trades FFS.
Finally, Bargain Bergy sticks his head out of his foxhole long enough to throw cold water on all the SFUcker speculation. About time. Anybody with half a brain knows if you trade a stud D like PFK away you spend the next 10 years trying to draft another one. PFK is going nowhere. Karlsson is going nowhere. Doughty is going nowhere. You can't trade for those guys until the very end of their careers.
You can't put any blame on PK for last season's fucking fiasco. That falls on 1. BBB for not addressing his goalie problem soon enough. 2. Clueless empty not being able to figure out what to do besides throw Davey out there to accomplish zilch. 3. Max floating around for 3 months scratching his head trying to figure out what was wrong and doing SFA in the meantime. Finally, when the carnage was over Habs management did the only thing it could: Blame the anglo (Ramsey).
Its a culture clash. PFK is NBA and Emty is Eddie Shore french. PFK does not have a chip on his shoulder he has a well earned brick. It dont matter a motherfuck cause he sets the ice on fire. And thats a venn diagram that DGMB should appreciate, fire on ice is what we are all aboot.
Holy Pernell Fucking Karl, Batman! I can't believe my ears! Finally, BBB actually spoke well of PFK even saying what he does on his own time, off ice is good as long as he comes in fit and ready to work.
Without getting too political - it's a right shit storm over here now. Cameron has resigned, A vote of Non-confidence in the labour leader has been called for, the EU is pissed, Scotland is pissed, London is pissed and yet nothing is going to happen about Brexit itself for at least 6 months. So it's going to be fun to say the least!

ReplyDeleteMore and more I am drawn to watching the kids play in junior, lots of mistakes but lots of dangling, goals and excitement.
DeleteIt's kinda fun to read all the back and forth on the different forums, oh hell, HI/O, the various trade scenarios people come up with. "Hic".
ReplyDeleteI would be 4 putting a lot of those greens.
DeleteHere's another thought: Funny how these NHL coaches can transform a 100+ point season junior superstar into a 30 point player in the NHL.

ReplyDeleteits all pretty well butman these days, we need a plug for the future
ReplyDeleteWell DJ Cokehead tamed Oakmont like nobody else could.
ReplyDeleteFinal thought about the golf...as DJ heads up to the 18th tee, the crowd is chanting U-S-A!
DeleteAs for our American neighbours nobody can accuse them of not being patriotic, although they get lost in their enthusiasm from time to time.
BBQ'd chicken and steak fajitas. Strawberry shortcakes.

McLame will replace his replacement? While some might not like Strombo, he is not to blame for the SFU sick fest which goes on and on and on. Viewers tuned out because they are pathetic leafers, plain and simple. The country is sick and tired of having the leaf forced on them ad nauseam.
ReplyDeleteThey are cratering to the CotU leafools.
DeleteI have no issues with Strombo.
Never mind.
DeleteI don't care any more.
DeleteHNIT became a leafool gong show long ago and like climate change it is here to stay.

DeleteKind of ironic reading an article today on the NHL not choosing Quebec, Nordiques' fans, according to the article seems to say about Montreal what we are saying about the SFU. (though I think it goes deeper than that)
DeleteAgree about the 'skiny jeans' moeman.

ReplyDeletePFK is the most vociferously devoted Hab today and tomorrow and on July 2nd.
DeleteThe SFUckers want PFK gone from Montreal because they are, and always have been, jealous of his abilities, skills and larger than life personality.
ReplyDeleteGeoff Molson didn't step in and sign PFK to an 8 year deal to allow some fucking has-been or hater to trade him away two years later.

ReplyDeleteIf I can paraphrase Moses: "Set my PK free!!!"
DeleteOr even Donny Osmond "Let people go"

DeleteIt's great what Giordano's doing for his community and we ought not belittle that...but really? Is the fucking Mob running the league now? Let's not pretend race has nothing to do with the way PK is treated. But a name like Giordano. Uncle Sal maybe 'convinced' the league (or whomever votes on this award) to go with the 'obvious' choice. *No offence intended to any Italian FHFers. Fucking league.
ReplyDeleteAnd BBB could have gained a bit of credit back by simply stating "WE ARE NOT TRADING PK....trades are hard."
BBB would never say that, it would be too much like he was supporting him or something and when did BBB or MT ever support or endorse PFK for anything, anything at all? Yet, even with the way they always paint him in a negative light publicly, teams are still calling BBB about a possible trade.
Delete"There's no question, if we are going to win a championship, we need [Price] there," said Subban, who had 51 points in 68 games.
ReplyDelete"There is no question that if Carey Price comes back we are instantly a better team but if we think that we are just going to walk into next year and make the playoffs because Carey is back, this League is too good.
DeleteI dare Molson to put out another tweet asking what we fans think about that.

Delete"When teams call about P.K., I listen, but I say no." - Marc Bergevin on the numerous rumours surrounding a trade involving Subban
So what was the press con for?
DeleteOther than pre-draft GM media availability I have no friggin idea.
DeleteThe lesson he should have learned is how the majority of other teams see the value of PFK that he and his empty side-kick refuse to see.
DeleteFinally, Bargain Bergy sticks his head out of his foxhole long enough to throw cold water on all the SFUcker speculation. About time. Anybody with half a brain knows if you trade a stud D like PFK away you spend the next 10 years trying to draft another one. PFK is going nowhere. Karlsson is going nowhere. Doughty is going nowhere. You can't trade for those guys until the very end of their careers.
ReplyDeleteYou can't put any blame on PK for last season's fucking fiasco. That falls on 1. BBB for not addressing his goalie problem soon enough. 2.
