The fact that the Broons even allowed BBB to speak with him just shows what they (broons) think about Clod being a threat in their own division.

So because you disagree with someone who doesn't share your opinion you try to censor and tell everyone not to talk about the coach then go all out rude single me out and tell someone to shut up???? That's the second time now. And I am not the only one who spoke about the coach but you I'm the one you tell to board a bus? Wow.

    1. Likely had an impact or DGMB was, also, worried about his own job.

Regardless, the CH has groomed many a fresh Francophone coach and one came back, again.

Julien has garnered years of experience and respect away from Montreal. He's had his moments during rivalry games vs. the Habs. I've never accepted his use of goons in the last few minutes. Hopefully those days are behind his motives as a coach AND methinks players of SSR's ilk will need to reel it in and play tough whilst respecting the opponent.

Not really surprised by all this. But, I'm not impressed, hiring Julien represents one dimensional thinking. In other words don't go outside the box. Julien won't win a Cup with this bunch, the talent level just isn't there yet.

With all respect to our FHFriend Moey, you said you didn't care about the coach. They (the Habs) were dying on the vine. This had to be done. Bergevin knew it as well, probably after his meeting with the big 3 in Arizona. His butt was on the line as well if they went over the cliff like last year.

I think Bergevin will definitely make a move or two before or at the deadline.

Oh, I think Davey has played his last game as a Hab as well. All respect to Davey for what he accomplished but he was out of his league. Literally. I hope he goes on to have a great career overseas.

💯 % right. I don't care about the coach, I only care about winning. And if that stops by all means do whatever they have to do to fix it. I have no personal feelings towards any coaches or GM's. just bring me wins.

In saying that , Julian is the best choice as far as bilingual coaches go, that is a fact not an opinion.

Gallant has proved nothing at the NHL level and nor has Muller.

Carbo's days were numbered when the team went into a death spiral which people seem to forget. He also has proved nothing.

There are no likes nor dislikes in this business, only results matter.

I will pick and chose what I read on here from now on so I won't be naughty and lose my cool.

You fail to gain a controlled entry so what, you lose the puck, but the times you dont you have a scoring chance. Thats the way to play, dump as a last resort not the first choice.

    1. With all due respect, I don't appreciate being singled out and told to board a bus to Nashville on one occasion and then told to just shut up on another when many here - if not all, at least one time or another - have shared a negative opinion of AF and there was also another time she singled me out that I remember and a few others I ignored.
One may not agree with everyone's opinion here, I myself have not also and I may have voiced my opinion on a subject or debated but I never spoke to anyone like that and tried to censure their voice simply because I didn't agree. We are all individuals with differing opinions but that doesn't give one who disagrees the audacity to speak to someone in that manner. I am not the most eloquent - much less so than moey - and rough around the edges at times when trying to make a point but I can't remember talking to anyone here the way she did with me. It was uncalled for, intentional and extremely rude. So yes, I absolutely believe she did mean to rip into me and maybe she is trying to cause tension and have me ejected, kinda like AF eh.

As much as I would like to ignore what the coach of the team does like Moey, I just can't. They have too much influence on what happens on the ice by player deployment decisions or what "system" they want to use and there are several. I believe this was MT's biggest failure, his player usage was horrible in certain situations and Brian Wilde listed a litany of other mistakes. Despite the fast starts of the last two seasons, for me the Habs had become virtually unwatchable. Hopefully, CJ will be able to figure out what he has relatively quickly and design a "system" around his personnel, not the other way around like MT. My God, I remember during one of those 24CH episodes I saw a bit of, with Therrien telling his players in a meeting: "We're a GRINDING team!" This was when they still had Gomez, Squid and Gionta. Are you fucking kidding me? The Habs were being ground... like coffee beans!

Anyway, that bullshit is finally over and I am actually looking forward to watching my team again and seeing how they play under CJ. I'm willing to cut him some slack for the rest of the season no matter how long and I'm not expecting miracles. I'm also looking forward to a DD-less team, no more scraping the ice every 5 minutes with the littlest zamboni. Oh, I also hope Carey comes out of his coma once again be the best goalie in the league. Finally, I can say with some enthusiasm: GO YOU FUCKING HABS GO!!

    ReplyDelete

  39. Juce,

I owe you an apology, yes I was rude and I shouldn't have gone off on you. It won't happen again.

So it's a new coach and a fresh start for the team so let's call a truce if that's okay with you.

My conspiracy theory is that ultimately Price got MT fired. Ever since his Vulcan death stare to Therrien on the bench in December his play has been awful. He's really the only one with enough clout to pull it off. I'm sure he would never admit it but that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

    1. Thanks, moey being your FHFriend again is a good thing in my books and I often enjoyed your input.

AS for TFS, while I don't believe those who he say he played the way he did merely to get the coach fired, a guy has his pride afterall plus I don't think he would ever stoop to that level. I absolutely do believe that if AF told him to just go be happy stopping pucks, then he literally bit the hand that fed him. His post game comment about losing their identity and others before that seemed telling. As you said, Melnick stated that all he had to do was tell the GM him or me and right after, or very shorlty after, that meeting in ARI MB got to work. Just too much of a coincidence to me. So yes, Price had all the clout in the world and may have used it.

      Long live cowboys.

      Delete
    2. I don't like to think he purposely did it either but there was some kind of issue between them. Price is always bland in an interview but he's been worse than usual. He just sounded completely fed up. When Stephane Waite was ssked about his loser play he said Carey and I know what it is. Kind of a strange answer.

it's been a while since we've had a Stanley Cup winning coach so I'm happy about that.

      Delete
  40. the Maritimer12:15 PM

I'm very happy to see you two resolve your differences.

I think every Habs fan has been frustrated during this latest collapse. I also think a lot of this mess could have been avoided if Bergevin had dismissed Therrien last spring instead of doubling down on his coach and friend. I'll bet the players had started tuning him out late last year. Blaming Price's knee was the easy way out and poor Mike Condon took most of the blame, but he's doing OK in Ottawa so it wasn't all on him either.

I agree with Moey that Price had had enough of Therrien and told Bergevin so. Like I said above, maybe he comes out of his coma now and leads his team like he's capable of. Go Carey Go!

And as far as PK is concerned, he shot himself in the foot too many times and MB decided to make that move. Myself, I would have kept him and got stronger up front (down the middle) but that's just me.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I guess this means TFS will face less shots?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Agreed the M about PK, it was just as much if not more Bergevin's decision to move him. And let's not forget, PK had issues with Jacques Martin and company. He had him sit in the press box for a few games. That was long before Therrien was on the scene. Babcock didn't want him on Team Canada, they can't all be wrong, it's obvious that PK plays the way HE wants too. That's where the problem lies but obviously Nashville must be okay with that.

  44. Classy comments by MT2;

In a statement released Thursday, Therrien said he understood why general manager Marc Bergevin made the decision to let him go and bring in Claude Julien.

"When a team is experiencing difficulties, any head coach knows his job is on the line," Therrien said. "I understand and accept this reality."

After starting the season 13-1-1, Montreal had hit a tough patch, going 2-6-1 over its last nine games.

Therrien, who struck a gracious tone in the statement, wished his successor the best.

"I leave with my head held high: I am very proud of the work accomplished over the past five years," he said. "The current team can aspire to great honours, and I wish my colleague Claude Julien every success in the future."

  45. Wow...its all been happening here...gkad everyone is back being friends. My biggest issue with AF was that he killed talented players by forcing them to do what probably doesn't come naturally at the expense of what did come naturally... and with younger guys that can be real confidence killer. Chuckie was still only getting 12-13 min a game. Why? They bring. A big man like McM up then play him 8 mind . . . why? Who would want to come play here except grinders and short asses! Let's hope that changes and that they start using the players they have better. They need to score goals so gaining the blue line then going for the corner of the rink should stop. Hopefully Clod gets them to start hitting the net more too! Go you fucking Habs go!

  47. OK, virtual hugs all around. Excellent. A little longer.......aaaaaaaaand there we go. That felt nice.

While I think CJ2 is a better coach, I worry about the merry go round effect. We had MT. We fired MT. We had CJ. We fired CJ. Shit happened. We hired MT2. We fired MT2. We hired CJ2.

When your tires are wearing out and cash flow is low, buying retreads is a good short term option. MB rode those first reteaded radials down to the steel belts. Thought for a good Price, he could put a few Patches on them and ride them successfully to the finish line, but even new and improved Patches and a few Russian studs weren't enough to keep 'er on the road, so he made a pit stop before the tires blew. But now I'm worried. Sure he bought a more expensive tire. Might be the Pirelli Ice Zeros even. But it's another set of retreads AND he paid a hell of a price for them. And you'll notice they're already bald.
Only time will tell if they can handle in the corners and keep on trucking into June.

Over at HI/O I watched the latest video with Knuckles, BGL and Hickey (somebody please buy him a comb) stating that CJ2 is a top 5 coach in the NHL. Maybe so but didn't he just get his ass fired less than two weeks ago?

I'm not sold on CJ2, but MB figured he had to move quick to get the only bilingual coach on the market. Like I said, I'm willing to give him a chance but I would have let Muller take them the rest of the way. He had enough street cred that the Separatists wouldn't have freaked out. We'll see.

    1. I am not an elite athelte living on the razers edge, I am more a bic dual blade kind. However, I have to go with TFS is one of the most elite atheltes in the world. If he watches a bad movie its going to affect his game. If he is comming to work everyday and seeing someasshole claim credit for all his hard work, he might subconciously tank. Humans are animals and we make non thinking decision every second. Thats why they had to cut the hands off that guy of Sons of Anarchy, do you really think he wanted to masturbate all the time?

    4. Ooh too juicy to think TFS™ is that good an actor. A LOT of the shitty goals were major D breakdowns. I do believe that he had enough of MT2 though. Kinda like Sid did in PIT...

    5. I get what you're saying Steve. But at the same time, behaving this way because he wanted MT2's head, he (would have) purposely hurt the other 22 team mates? Some of which do not have a comparable livelihood and leverage as TFS, some fighting for jobs and need wins and production to prove their worth to get a contract. Anyway, all this is speculation of course and as Moey said, it's the beauty of it! I'm glad we're moving on.

Big George Laraque who was in Pitt at the time said Therrien brought Fleury to tears berating him in the dressing room. Sid said fuck this shit and went to the GM (Rey Shero) and eMTy was gone. I always maintained he was a bully and a leopard never changes it's spots. I say good riddance and don't feel one iota of sympathy for him. He's going to be paid $2mil a year until 2019. He's got no worries. I highly doubt he's ever a head coach again in the NHL unless the WhalerCanes move to QC, Peladeau will be all over him.

    1. Wow.

I think the snake-tongued 'bergie' has the lead on any new QC team coaching job.

    3. As mentioned, he really ripped Shaw in the dressing room and his teammates were none too pleased about it.
