Drued, LeWD, Pure, I like the trade, its help now. If we can keep gCHuck we have two decent lines, if we can snag a better center than Dano, I would be willing to take a CHance on Thorton or even Hanzel. CHevy sorry to see you go but we got a bird in the hand.
Its nice to have Danno and Druid playing in Montreal, lets hope we somehow snag a Pure D man who can be 4-5.
I guess that's the comparable but it must really be a slap in the face to gCHyuk when Drouin walks in, gets automacially signed without even stepping on the ice as a Hab. Didn't they also do that with Dano? or maybe he played a couple but same principle. And they say it's not the name on the back of the sweater.
Hi kidz! Just thought I'd say hi while I contemplate this development. Must have been gone for a while, everyone's avatar seems to have changed. Love yours juce.
French-Canadian scorer. In Montreal. No pressure, kid. Good luck.
I'll say this. This is a hell of a better deal than McDonagh for Gomez. I'm torn - CHevy looked to have such a high upside, but I've seen JD play in Halifax and the kid is fast with unbelievable hands. He didn't deserve to be sentenced to a career in the hockey hotbed of FLA. I'm excited. If BBB can land a top centre in the gCHuk deal, well i'll remove a few pins from his voodoo doll.
we all like to joke about Eklund, but he has been saying for weeks that something was brewing, a big trade somewhere is on the horizon, and vola, the Alex Jones of Hockey strikes again.
If BBB could somehow snag N8 McK from the Avs when he CHuks Alex out of the organization, I would rescind every bad word I mentioned about him (not including the first 6 months of post-PK/Weber trade stuff). Watching those 2 together in junior was amazing. It's time to reunite them. Yeah I know it won't happen, but until it doesn't happen, I'm going to assume it will happen.
I feel for gCHuk though. Screwed all the way. Scored 30g26a56p as a 22 year old. JD just scored 52 pts as a 12 year old and immediately signs a 6 yr 33 million dollar deal. Yep. Pack your bags CHucky.
I'll give Bargain Bin credit for this deal. Makes more sense than PK/Weber. I don't think they'll be much better, the core just isn't good enough. Markov, Pleks and Patch O'Ready just can't get it done. If BBB can move those guys out then we'll see. I'd love to see MacKinnon reunited with Drouin. If not, then tank for Joe Veleno in 2018.
its a no brainer. A could be stud which we would ruin against against a fully Stevie Y developed player. Its like dealing a Yugo self assembly kit for a Tesla.
Math is hard for me. But a number 3 pick developed for a number 9 pick still in cherry stais is not often going to lead to rectal bleeding.
I also wanted to mention that for years we pined to get Vinnie out of Tampa. Vinnie wanted nothing to do with Montreal. Looks like JD embraces it. Good on him. Looking forward to him going head to head with Awesome and Midget Marner.
the smurfs rally. We got smurfs all up and down our deck and we need a big guy to keep them blue not red. Can nobody find me this guy? A big Mike to annonce to the hockey world we are going to take you apart in the NASCAR NHL?
'Au revoir, Jonathan, and don't let the Zamboni door hit you on the way out of town. Then again, if the Zamboni door is in the defensive end, there's no chance Drouin will be anywhere near it.
The Lightning traded an often moody, sometimes selfish, occasionally petulant, one-dimensional, streaky player for one who has a chance to become a top-pair defenseman — the rarest of NHL commodities and something the Lightning needs more than anything in this world.'
Owner of the Halifax Mooseheads says he's a remarkable player. Hockey sense, he's going to be a treat to watch and will make other players better. One of the most dynamic players in the league. He does some things no other player does, like the Patrick Kanes.
Heh, the SFUckers are falling all over themselves to slag the trade and as an added bonus they ask themselves what move will their leaf make to counter it.
Juce PFK that ship has sailed and we do not know if it crashed. But getting LeDude for a wisp of air is a triumph that we should all celebrate. CHevy may turn out great but the odds are against it. LeDude is the Lewboski in the bowling aisle, he will clean up the PFK carpet and just chill the cup with CHampage.
I have no problem getting Drouin but the way I see it, BBB flat out said end of year presser that CHevy was untouchable and he wouldn't trade the future. Well, the way I see it his job's on the line and he rape and pillage the already empty cupboard and let his replacement worry about it. He also seemed to make a point of saying he didn't have such an opportunity in 5 years. But since you got me on the subject, I think PFK was also a factor in his decision because a lot of fans were still not happy about it so getting a hometown guy would appease the angry villagers and many of the their drum-beaters who had to eat crow and admit PFK played great in the post season against top opponents.
Drouin fell out with his coach because he wanted to play his way and the coach wanted him to pay more attention to his defensive game so he demanded a trade was relegated to the AHL, refused to report so they suspended him without pay. "I've told Jonathan and his agent we will trade him if and when we can make a deal that is good for the Tampa Bay Lightning," When he later did return to play in the AHL, Cooper then had to use him when Stamkos got injured. I remember Drouin was all the story on French media here at the time. BBB and a couple other teams tried to get him then but Yzerman said he wouldn't trade him unless he got back 'equal value' in return. All that to say yes, I'm glad to have Drouin and I when he did get called back up by Cooper watching him play I was thinking he got the old AF/PFK treatment, though PFK was parked in the stands for the first 6 games to 'learn the system' merely for not immediately signing a bridge when he wanted term. That was BBB's 1st screw-up and the reason PFK gets paid $9M. PFK never refused to report anywhere, demand a trade saying he would refuse to have anything with the Lightning 'under any capacity' like Drouin.
Drouin's defensive game is no better than #27's but he will come here, be treated like a god because of his name and if #27 is still here, he will remain the scapegoat. I am not anti-Drouin, like I said I am glad to have him and they will make sure he get's every single opportunity to succeed. The kid has a lot of talent, I just hate the double standard that comes from the top and their drum-beaters. I wonder if the captain will tell him to act like he's scored before like he did to gCHyuk because Drouin likes to celly when he scored. I also think CHevy will be a stud in the future.
Former Sea Dog and current Duck Simon Despres is on waivers and can be had for Sweet Fuck All. Sure he is damaged goods (concussed) but hey, why not take a chance on another pure wool guy for free? I always thought he was one of the best pure skaters I ever saw and should have been the player the Habs picked in the 1st round back in '09 instead of Lebrow.
"Je n'ai pas choisi de numéro encore, 72 ne sera pas mon numéro, c'était juste pour la conférence de presse!" He only wore it for the press conference.
I laughed at a comment that I read yesterday that rang so true. BBB gave us a shiny new toy to fawn over and distract us while he goes back to dumpster diving... LOL!!
That is bullshit...N8 for a 3rd rounder.not VFM in my book...but perhaps he was going to go in the Vegas lottery so in that case I suppose it's better than nothing...
'The Wild has also had trade talks with Montreal regarding Alex Galchenyuk, but late Friday, a source close to the Canadiens was starting to doubt they would be able to acquire Brodin or Scandella, a Montreal native the Habs have also inquired about. The reason being, the source felt, was how complicated it would be for the Wild to add another forward needing to be protected. Also, trading Scandella would mean the Wild was still at risk of losing the exposed Brodin or Dumba in expansion unless the Wild knew it had a prearranged deal done with Vegas not to take the exposed defenseman..
All NHL teams except the Golden Knights have until 3 p.m. ET on Saturday to make deals before a mandatory roster freeze goes into effect. The deadline for clubs to submit their expansion-draft protection lists is Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.
So I guess that's it unless there is a deal that has to go to the league for approval before going public.
Benin at his age is a decent protection candidate. I like Emilyn eve with his f**ups he can hit with the best of them and little arrogance so is likeable enough, good hab, almost as likeable as Odelein. Do they need to choose between Benn and Emelyn? Or can they protect both?
The choices were to protect a goalie and either 3 D + 5 F, or 8 skaters of any position. So it speaks to going with option 2 and protecting Y, Vodkov, JB and Dish, or something. Still amazingly low return for a #1 pick that became a true pro and is still in his prime.
Wow, pretty much all the high draft picks pre-Bozo the GM have been given away for a bag of pucks or less. Pretty bad indictment of Gainey and Company. The "C" stands for Cronyism, the "H" for Hubris.
Maybe because it's after midnight and I am drinking Jack Old fashion but The M...you are a fucking genius! "The "C" stands for Cronyism, the "H" for Hubris."...sums it up perfectly... I appreciate that this bullshit draft (I give the Vegas team 5 years max) forces you to do shit but to give up on N8 for a 3rd round pick is really shit. Habs have shit like Martin son and Davidson and - I know One of them can't be moved or picked because they have some sort of fucked up contract that says they blow Buttman for a year more at no extra charge... or something like that.. But come on! He was a no.1 or 2 D man last year... having said that I would have Benn over N8 all day long so what the fuck do i know...cantbqe just give BBB to Vegas and be fucking done with all this bullshit?
Have a good night K3X, it's hard to believe that Montreal could blow it on so many 1st round picks. Something is not right. Either the amateur scouting is fucking horrible or Lefebvre is a complete fucking moron who couldn't teach a dog to fetch. I dunno anymore. I expect more of the same as we have been watching for the last decade. JD is no saviour. They will still be the gang that can't shoot straight with a worse defence. Bozo's plan is to live off Carey Price. Again.
Montreal's development program is getting worse and worse. I'm starting to think Bozo the GM's coaching staff couldn't develop a plan for a one man parade...
Woke up this morning, and had myself a beer, the future is uncertian and the end is always near, if you play for Montreal ledude I just wanted to make that clear.

When the great talent judge MB traded Sergachev away he pretty much emptied the cupboard of any high end prospects. No number 1 or 2 center (remember gCHuk is a winger, MB and CJ said so) and now no number 1 defenceman in the pipeline. And unless some miracle occurs, TT is picking 25th, or MB pulls the rug out from underneath him and trades that away for more players who hate to lose but couldn't score a goal to save their lives.
I would say MB has enacted his journeyman vision on the Habs and gone all in on one of the oldest, probably slowest teams in the league. I would also say in two years or less "the Tank" will be rolling into Montreal. Well done Geoff, your clown of a GM has set the table nicely for a rebuild.
except with TFS its impossible to tank. So we will be stuck in purgotory for another 8 years. On the other hand its possible Patches Danno Che Leko gCHuck LeDude SSR JDL LB fourth who cares BBQ JJF(Jumping Jack Flash) Dish Vodkov and the cup
I hate to be such a Negative Nellie but I don't think Carey can win it. The days of a superstar goalie -- Roy/Dryden/Brodeur -- carrying a team to the Cup are over. You need -- Crosby/Toews/McDavid -- to win in buttman's parity league. You have to enact Grant's march to Atlanta to get those guys.
And they should have protected Hudon and left Shaw off the list. Nobody in their right mind would take that contract, let alone a new team looking to establish an identity.
Fat chance, BBB scouted him while he was in Chicago, gave CHI two 2nd round picks to get him then signed him to a 6-year contract about 3 days later while his other Chicago protegee gets the top line centre role.
BBB likes to either go dumpster diving or take a swing and try to hit one out of the park - very little in between. I expect he's going to figure the only way to get a true #1 centre is through the draft and hey look at #1 prospect, Halifax Moosehead Nico Hischier just happens to be that big(ish) skilled #1 centreman he's looking for. So BBB's next blockbuster will make the Subban-Weber trade look ho-hum in comparison as he sends Galchenyuk, Price and a 1st or 2nd to the Devils for the #1 pick (Hischier), Cory Schneider and Ilya Kovalchuk (yep worked the last time, ipso fatso it must work again...Archie Bunker ref). You think the twitterverse exploded last year!? Just wait.
After last year, it was like somebody hit the Off switch on my Habs fanboy self. I can't get excited about anything anymore. Am I reading about all the speculation? Yes. Do I care what the dumpster diver does anymore? Not really. Drouin notwithstanding, if GMGQ manages to get a true No. 1 center it may reignite something. We'll see I guess.
'The Isles also have been in talks with the Canadiens regarding forward Alex Galchenyuk. All three of those teams are searching for defensemen and the Islanders are believed willing to surrender Travis Hamonic to upgrade their offense.' - Newsday report.
You heard that eh? That's what Dany Dube said - No offer for Markov due to Markov's fatigue in the second half of the season, his attitude, the need to lower the cap hit and the arrival of Jakub Jerabek.
They keep pushing the 'bad attitude", 'off ice issues' line and their beating drum media kept selling the narrative for them so I guess they think it will work every time.
Strange also is that there is zero mention of this on TSN690 radio even though Sean Coleman is part of their team, he along with Brian Wilde and Randy Tieman (who I adore) got the news at 11:00am.
Similar cuts to local sports have happened at other CTV stations (Barrie, Kitchener, London, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria and Windsor) to the point where the national Unifor union blew the whistle on the cuts to local news...It’s unclear if CTV will address the layoffs during its 6pm newscast. I can say nobody who works there is happy about the news. The decision was made in Toronto.
Looks like this means all tv sports news will be originating out of tranna. Oh joy. CBC radio may be the only source that is not tainted by hogtown. Ours comes out of Halifax, lots of university sports mentioned. Bell and Rogers are disgusting entities.
In Montreal the Entertainment news is more important in player development than the on ice "stuff". Except to see way more Ben Mulroney hockey interviews.
If I am McPhee I take all the youngest high draft picks like Storme and Dumba, a couple of next season deadline attractors like SuperPlexxe and Methot, and just tank tank tank trade for Pronger, Clarkson and other non players to meet floor.
BrianWilde @BWildeCTV 1h1 hour ago More I've been so proud to work at CTV. What an absolute honour it has been for me. Show respect & humility always to everyone. Thank you truly.
You should see Stéphane Giroux's FB response to this news. He wrote: "Painful day at work today. After almost six decades, CTV Montreal just cancelled its sportscast, laying off all our sports people. Smart, talented people who will be missed by Montrealers, across the linguistic divide."
Hell, it's more lit up with reaction than a pit bull ban story. 353 comments so far and all incredulous. Their newscast is okay but the Sports was always top notch. A real shameful decision from some assholes in Trahna. I think I smell an audience revolt coming.
When it comes to the draft, just don't LeBrow it and take the best Quebecois player available. That move may have cost us a cup. LeBrow was picked at 18. #19? Chris Kreider. Like him or not, had we drafted him, he wouldn't have taken Price out and we probably would have gone on to win it all. So if you see Pierre-Olivier Joseph taken at #25, fold up the tent for another 5 years.
And I still don't understand why we pick so late. Habs lost to the Rangers in the first round. I thought the first round was based on how deep in the playoffs the teams go (for the bottom 16 picks). Rags pick at 21. I dunno, maybe it's regular season standings unless you're in the final 2.
Habs new sweaters Meh, whats with the fake laces, other wise still better than the dickey. On a tech front lots of improvements, overall weight down 19%, watch big mac sail now.
Hey Scott in Montreal, thanks for that. When I heard yesterday that Stephan Giroux posted on his FB, I tried to see but being the dinosaur that I am I don't have a FB account.
Yep, just as I thought too. Watched the 6 o-clock news and they did announce that they cancelled the sports broadcast and that they would still cover sports as part of their news coverage. He then immediately mentioned Vegas and they went directly to TSN coverage. Now I have to have the SFU rammed down my through when I have tried to avoid them as much as possible. We had quality people here and now we have to see trash. Thanks for nothing CTV who I watched from childhood. (ok, we didn't have cable growing up, but still...)
"It's going to be a process. I know that. Maybe it won't happen July 1, but like I said, I'm not worried about it. I said it at the end of the year: We'll figure it out. A lot of teams find ways to pay their best players a fair amount, so I'm sure we'll be able to figure it out."
Looks like (Y)'s contract is coming off the books --- another of Bargain Bin's D corps gone --- I'd say a major rebuild of the back-end is coming. He fucking better not trade gCHuk for a defenceman or I am going to freak!! Get your fucking center or keep him you dumbass!!!
guy... i finished watching game 6 last month about a week before the finals began. i was pulling hard for nsh and had picked them to destroy BBB's 2017 playoff destroyer. hahhahahhaha.... i was so so sad PFK didnt get the chance to brjng the cup back to the children's hospital, but im sure he will do it before anybody in RWB does it for us...
im just finished recovering from that and i hear N8 has been shipped off for garbage! while i never understood the reasoning behind sending away assets before an ex draft, now i hear (Y) is leaving and chè isnt going to resign...
CONGRATULATIONS U IDIOTS!! u just sent us back to the abeschier yrs!
someone posted this, but i like this version better: PFK-tintin vodkov-dish n8-dreamweaver (Y) vs wrongbenn for #7.
can someone explain to me the logic behind ditching assets BEFORE?
vegas is only allowed to take ONE, so if i was in charge, i would accumulate as much as possible so that afterwards, i would still have something strong. am i missing something?
The 'theory' is that if N8 wasn't traded, but left unprotected, they would lose him for nothing as he was the most likely to be picked by Vegas. So rather than dealing with Vegas to agree to not pick him they shipped him off to Barfalo for that coveted 3rd round pick.
I'd be surprised to see them take (Y) and I'm not terribly sad to see him go if they do, but if that increases the odds of BBB trading gCHuk for another D, I'm with the Maritimer. FFS there is NO NEED to trade gCHuk. In fact give him the same contract you gave Drouin. Jeezuz.
NHL trying to make a big thing of the 'unveiling' of the VGK and yet reporters from all over N America have been issuing leaks all day. I went to nhlnumbers.com to look at the Habs roster to check (Y)'s salary. He's already gone. The entire Knights roster is already on the site.
Thanks (Y) you will always have Montreal. I think that the best outcome. SuperPlexxe if he is playing a 3rd line shutdown is valuable. Davidson, whats his nick? Tractor? has an upside. Both JDR and CH have upside. Lets hope we keep gCHuck.
So, (Y) gone to Sin City (thanks Frank Miller), maybe CHe as well, Chevy sold to Tampon Bay for pure wool, obviously Bargain Bin is trading gCHuk to Dallas for the number 3 so he can get another high end D prospect or some fucking thing. What does all this mean? Vodkov will be one lonely fucking Russian in Mtl. Maybe he doesn't resign with BBB. Darey Price is going to be ducking rubber like crazy with 50 shots a night this season. He probably bails as well. Is that a Tank I hear rumbling?
Oh well, back to dumpster diving for more 5th line puds and 8th D's.
Unless TFS gets that blank check BBB promised him publicly he's gone though I'm sure he'd like to have to holy grail more than the dough. Judging by his comments, he as much as said he's their best player (imagine if PFK said it?). Since they didn't extend him yet, I think he's holding out to see if BBB can start dumpster-diving in Westmount instead of the poor side of town.
The best thing about (Y) was his driving Lucy out of his mind. (Y) would go out of his way to hit Lucy every chance he got, even to the point of wrecking his knee when he missed one time. (Y), CHarger (Prust) and CHip (Weise) were guys I admired for their courage to stand up to that Neanderthal. Thanks to all 3 of those guys for being good Habs.
The SFU at the detestable cesspool snet playing up their boy Matthews win as a "laugher". Classy people over there.
Here's a funny story while we're waiting for gCHuk to be traded for a used jock strap: This morning, Mrs. Maritimer was up earlier than me (unusual believe me) and said "You might want to check your Montreal site" -- to which I replied -- "They didn't trade Carey Price". Some jerk had put up a fake news article: Carey Price traded for Corey Crawford and Patrick Kane. I immediately check a real news site (Fourhockeyfans) and knew it was bullshit. I had to chuckle though. That would be like MB leaving the Dumpster, running past Wal-Mart and Sears straight to Saks Fifth Avenue. Right? I got a laugh out of it anyway.
I have to apologize to the folks on this blog. I've been posting nothing but negative crap for weeks. Maybe something positive will happen this weekend, I sure hope so. Until then I'll just shut my trap.
Shane Bowers, from Halifax N.S., a center -- 6', 170lbs, picked high in the QMJHL draft two years ago by Cape Breton and refused to go there and instead played in the USHL. Picked in the 1st round again by the Saint John Sea Dogs in 2016 and again refused returinng to the USHL. Supposed to be really good and could be available at #25 to the Habs. Question is, would he report? Over to you Saint Paddy. You have a good read on the Halifax scene...
BBB presser: - he says it's not inconceivable that if Che isn't signed by July 1 that they could trade his rights to another team.
- Brian Flynn, King and Nesterov are free to pursue other offers when the time comes. None coming from Habs.
On getting TFS signed before the season:"I would say so, yes. I would like to. I believe he wants to stay in MTL, so I think we'll be able to..."
- wants Vodkov back, talked to him recently.
- when you have a good asset, you keep them. I'm not sure what that was about ?
Trevor Timmons -
There's a lot on social media, I want to tell you and many will agree that this year's draft, there's not a lot of elite talent but you can get quality prospects in later rounds for example PK in the second round etc... He came out of the gate ready for battle it seems.
Sorry missed most of Timmons because my phone rang.
Bbb is so full of shit I think he actually believes the crap he spouts. So we give up a young but talented D man only to replace him with a journeyman with more bad habits and no pedigree...what a fucking brain surgeon that Bbb is! The mind boggles...
LeBrun 'Hearing that Radulov's latest contract ask was six years at $7 M per season. No way Habs do that'
I find it suspicious that BBB made the comment about trading his rights and THEN that 'leak' comes out. I think BBB's usual suspects are pushing the narrative again. Maybe BBB's brave now that he landed Drouin.
Sad to see a great prospect going but a more proven one who can score arrives.

John Goins (sp) had nothing but praise for him but said that defence isn't his best quality.
ReplyDeleteOwner of the Halifax Mooseheads says he's a remarkable player. Hockey sense, he's going to be a treat to watch and will make other players better. One of the most dynamic players in the league. He does some things no other player does, like the Patrick Kanes.
ReplyDeleteBob Smith also said pressure shouldn't be a problem.
ReplyDeleteHeh, the SFUckers are falling all over themselves to slag the trade and as an added bonus they ask themselves what move will their leaf make to counter it.

DeleteJuce PFK that ship has sailed and we do not know if it crashed. But getting LeDude for a wisp of air is a triumph that we should all celebrate. CHevy may turn out great but the odds are against it. LeDude is the Lewboski in the bowling aisle, he will clean up the PFK carpet and just chill the cup with CHampage.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem getting Drouin but the way I see it, BBB flat out said end of year presser that CHevy was untouchable and he wouldn't trade the future.
DeleteDrouin fell out with his coach because he wanted to play his way and the coach wanted him to pay more attention to his defensive game so he demanded a trade was relegated to the AHL, refused to report so they suspended him without pay.
Don't these newbies have to earn a nickname...?
ReplyDeleteWe just got LeDude and we gave up on Doll, its a nick loss on any scale
ReplyDeleteFormer Sea Dog and current Duck Simon Despres is on waivers and can be had for Sweet Fuck All. Sure he is damaged goods (concussed) but hey, why not take a chance on another pure wool guy for free? I always thought he was one of the best pure skaters I ever saw and should have been the player the Habs picked in the 1st round back in '09 instead of Lebrow.
ReplyDeleteDrouin had a couple of concussions too. Said yesterday he's 100% and no issues.
DeleteThat's what I thought K3X. Let's see how the kid plays.
ReplyDeleteDrouin said yesterday 72 probably won't be his number. hmmm
ReplyDelete"Je n'ai pas choisi de numéro encore, 72 ne sera pas mon numéro, c'était juste pour la conférence de presse!" He only wore it for the press conference.
DeleteSo, if he didn't choose #72 is it telling that they would make him wear the reverse of #27?
DeleteI would think it probably had more to do with 27 being his TB #
DeleteMaybe he didn't pick a number and was holding out to see if #27 is getting traded.
DeleteI laughed at a comment that I read yesterday that rang so true. BBB gave us a shiny new toy to fawn over and distract us while he goes back to dumpster diving... LOL!!
ReplyDeleteRumours that Marchessault won't be protected, 5'9 centre, scored 30 goals and from Qc.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Has Habs written all over him!
DeleteThe Canadiens acquire BUF's 3rd-round pick (68) in 2017 , in return for N. Beaulieu.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's all they thought of N8?
ReplyDeleteBBB says you can never have too many D then he gets rid of them.
ReplyDeleteThat is bullshit...N8 for a 3rd rounder.not VFM in my book...but perhaps he was going to go in the Vegas lottery so in that case I suppose it's better than nothing...
ReplyDeleteGuess that wanted to protect Benn over N8.
DeleteMaybe BBB thought he was going to lose him or has something up his sleeve. Stay tuned.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing he has up his sleeve is...actually - I got nothing!
DeleteJust wait till Kane shows him the nightlife.
ReplyDeleteN8, Pateryn, Tinordi, PFK...draft 'em and trade 'em. Did I miss any D?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your service N8, good luck in the future.
ReplyDeleteSeems like BBB was trying to get Scandella from MIN, he's Momesso's nephew.
ReplyDelete'The Wild has also had trade talks with Montreal regarding Alex Galchenyuk, but late Friday, a source close to the Canadiens was starting to doubt they would be able to acquire Brodin or Scandella, a Montreal native the Habs have also inquired about.
DeleteAll NHL teams except the Golden Knights have until 3 p.m. ET on Saturday to make deals before a mandatory roster freeze goes into effect. The deadline for clubs to submit their expansion-draft protection lists is Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess that's it unless there is a deal that has to go to the league for approval before going public.
Yep, their done, Habs report no more transactions today.
DeleteLes @CanadiensMTL n'annonceront aucune autre transaction aujourd'hui. #tvasports
NHL teams can resume trading tomorrow morning at 10 ET only if their trading partner is VGK. Otherwise, no deals/signing until Thurs 8 am ET
ReplyDeleteBenin at his age is a decent protection candidate. I like Emilyn eve with his f**ups he can hit with the best of them and little arrogance so is likeable enough, good hab, almost as likeable as Odelein. Do they need to choose between Benn and Emelyn? Or can they protect both?
ReplyDeleteThe choices were to protect a goalie and either 3 D + 5 F, or 8 skaters of any position. So it speaks to going with option 2 and protecting Y, Vodkov, JB and Dish, or something. Still amazingly low return for a #1 pick that became a true pro and is still in his prime.
DeleteWow, pretty much all the high draft picks pre-Bozo the GM have been given away for a bag of pucks or less. Pretty bad indictment of Gainey and Company. The "C" stands for Cronyism, the "H" for Hubris.
ReplyDeleteMaybe because it's after midnight and I am drinking Jack Old fashion but The M...you are a fucking genius!
DeleteHave a good night K3X, it's hard to believe that Montreal could blow it on so many 1st round picks. Again.
DeleteMontreal's development program is getting worse and worse. I'm starting to think Bozo the GM's coaching staff couldn't develop a plan for a one man parade...
ReplyDeletewe are not in the development bidness
DeleteI am shocked that n8 is a bag of pucks, what are going to get for gCHuck a second?
Two boys on the Dale Carnegie train out of town.
Just like when we tried to corner the market on Belrussians, we are now going after gritty aging D men. I expect this ploy will end like the last one.
ReplyDeleteWoke up this morning, and had myself a beer, the future is uncertian and the end is always near, if you play for Montreal ledude I just wanted to make that clear.

ReplyDeletewe are going to lose Hudon, The CH that never was. I wish I could evaluate talent like that,
ReplyDeleteWhy would they waste a pick on Hudon when a dynamo like DDD is available?
Delete*Insert tongue in cheek.*
Why the hell is BBB hanging on to Lefevbre?? Did DDD give him some pictures?
ReplyDeleteSalary cap reported at $75M next season.
ReplyDeleteWhen the great talent judge MB traded Sergachev away he pretty much emptied the cupboard of any high end prospects.
ReplyDeleteI would say MB has enacted his journeyman vision on the Habs and gone all in on one of the oldest, probably slowest teams in the league. I would also say in two years or less "the Tank" will be rolling into Montreal. Well done Geoff, your clown of a GM has set the table nicely for a rebuild.
except with TFS its impossible to tank. So we will be stuck in purgotory for another 8 years.

ReplyDeleteFat chance, BBB scouted him while he was in Chicago, gave CHI two 2nd round picks to get him then signed him to a 6-year contract about 3 days later while his other Chicago protegee gets the top line centre role.

ReplyDeleteBBB likes to either go dumpster diving or take a swing and try to hit one out of the park - very little in between. Just wait.
ReplyDeleteWow. That's so crazy it might just work.
DeleteAfter last year, it was like somebody hit the Off switch on my Habs fanboy self. I can't get excited about anything anymore. Am I reading about all the speculation? Yes. Do I care what the dumpster diver does anymore? Not really. Drouin notwithstanding, if GMGQ manages to get a true No. 1 center it may reignite something. We'll see I guess.
Rumour has that there is a 3-yr, $7M/yr deal for Che.
ReplyDeleteNow that is the first sensible offer for Che I have heard... 3 years is about right. Make the deal!
DeleteI would go $6 for four. Che is not a interCHangable piece like lego.
Delete'The Isles also have been in talks with the Canadiens regarding forward Alex Galchenyuk. All three of those teams are searching for defensemen and the Islanders are believed willing to surrender Travis Hamonic to upgrade their offense.' - Newsday report.
ReplyDeleteUh, no, but merci anyway.
Were dumping Vodkov, bad influence?
ReplyDeleteYou heard that eh? That's what Dany Dube said - No offer for Markov due to Markov's fatigue in the second half of the season, his attitude, the need to lower the cap hit and the arrival of Jakub Jerabek.
DeleteThey keep pushing the 'bad attitude", 'off ice issues' line and their beating drum media kept selling the narrative for them so I guess they think it will work every time.
Last season BBB said he was looking for a puck moving D yet he keeps trading away the ones he has and dug his own hole.

Is this fake news? I hope this has nothing to do with SFU becoming the English broadcaster, we still need the local guys.
DeleteI heard about a week ago that CTV will extend the news staring at 5:00pm
Strange also is that there is zero mention of this on TSN690 radio even though Sean Coleman is part of their team, he along with Brian Wilde and Randy Tieman (who I adore) got the news at 11:00am.

DeleteWishing you all the best Randy.
DeleteBold text says it all. SFU want to be the one and only to ram their team up the collective asses of Canadians.
DeleteYou were right moeman, when you said it'll only get worse.
DeleteLooks like this means all tv sports news will be originating out of tranna. Oh joy. CBC radio may be the only source that is not tainted by hogtown. Ours comes out of Halifax, lots of university sports mentioned. Bell and Rogers are disgusting entities.
DeleteIn Montreal the Entertainment news is more important in player development than the on ice "stuff". Except to see way more Ben Mulroney hockey interviews.
DeleteIf I am McPhee I take all the youngest high draft picks like Storme and Dumba, a couple of next season deadline attractors like SuperPlexxe and Methot, and just tank tank tank trade for Pronger, Clarkson and other non players to meet floor.

I've been so proud to work at CTV.
DeleteHell, it's more lit up with reaction than a pit bull ban story. 353 comments so far and all incredulous. Their newscast is okay but the Sports was always top notch. A real shameful decision from some assholes in Trahna. I think I smell an audience revolt coming.
Good luck to TFS on his Vezina nomination.
ReplyDeleteIt will be an icy day in Vegas before they give him the Vezina this year. And to be fair I think Bob actually deserves it.
DeleteCraig Button says the Habs will pick 6'-6" D Nic Hague. Looking at how they developed Tinordi, his agent might want to tell MB to back off...
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to the draft, just don't LeBrow it and take the best Quebecois player available.
DeleteAnd I still don't understand why we pick so late. Habs lost to the Rangers in the first round. I thought the first round was based on how deep in the playoffs the teams go (for the bottom 16 picks). Rags pick at 21. I dunno, maybe it's regular season standings unless you're in the final 2.
yeah the Rags pick 4 spots ahead?? Comcast picks second???

ReplyDeleteHabs new sweaters Meh, whats with the fake laces, other wise still better than the dickey. On a tech front lots of improvements, overall weight down 19%, watch big mac sail now.
ReplyDeleteHey Scott in Montreal, thanks for that. When I heard yesterday that Stephan Giroux posted on his FB, I tried to see but being the dinosaur that I am I don't have a FB account.
ReplyDeleteYep, just as I thought too.

DeleteLooks like (Y)'s contract is coming off the books --- another of Bargain Bin's D corps gone --- I'd say a major rebuild of the back-end is coming. He fucking better not trade gCHuk for a defenceman or I am going to freak!! Get your fucking center or keep him you dumbass!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't want to see gCHuk go.
Deleteguy... i finished watching game 6 last month about a week before the finals began. i was pulling hard for nsh and had picked them to destroy BBB's 2017 playoff destroyer. hahhahahhaha.... i was so so sad PFK didnt get the chance to brjng the cup back to the children's hospital, but im sure he will do it before anybody in RWB does it for us...
ReplyDeleteim just finished recovering from that and i hear N8 has been shipped off for garbage! while i never understood the reasoning behind sending away assets before an ex draft, now i hear (Y) is leaving and chè isnt going to resign...
CONGRATULATIONS U IDIOTS!! u just sent us back to the abeschier yrs!
someone posted this, but i like this version better:
PFK-tintin

n8-dreamweaver
(Y) vs wrongbenn for #7.
can someone explain to me the logic behind ditching assets BEFORE?
ReplyDeletevegas is only allowed to take ONE, so if i was in charge, i would accumulate as much as possible so that afterwards, i would still have something strong. am i missing something?
The 'theory' is that if N8 wasn't traded, but left unprotected, they would lose him for nothing as he was the most likely to be picked by Vegas. So rather than dealing with Vegas to agree to not pick him they shipped him off to Barfalo for that coveted 3rd round pick.
DeleteI'd be surprised to see them take (Y) and I'm not terribly sad to see him go if they do, but if that increases the odds of BBB trading gCHuk for another D, I'm with the Maritimer. FFS there is NO NEED to trade gCHuk. In fact give him the same contract you gave Drouin. Jeezuz.
100% agree with Saint Pad.
DeleteSpeculation is that they gave Vegas that 3rd round pick to take (Y) but per LeBrun there was no pick given.
DeleteMerci Y...take it easy on the Habs next season. You will be missed.

ReplyDeleteNHL trying to make a big thing of the 'unveiling' of the VGK and yet reporters from all over N America have been issuing leaks all day. I went to nhlnumbers.com to look at the Habs roster to check (Y)'s salary. He's already gone. The entire Knights roster is already on the site.

Good interview with TFS on TVA. Asked about losing (Y), he started to answer then caught himself, 'it's not for sure but ...' Yeah, he's gone.
ReplyDeleteI did some research on the draft order and it's because they won their division the Habs pick at 25. Fat lot of good that did them.
ReplyDeletePart of me wanted Bergeron to win the Selke but another part of me didn't want him to tie it with Gainey's 4 Selkes.
ReplyDeleteThanks (Y) you will always have Montreal. I think that the best outcome. SuperPlexxe if he is playing a 3rd line shutdown is valuable. Davidson, whats his nick? Tractor? has an upside. Both JDR and CH have upside. Lets hope we keep gCHuck.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Gallant really likes (Y).
DeleteCongrats to Gm of the year, David Poile.
ReplyDeleteTough losing James Neal.
ReplyDeleteOh well, back to dumpster diving for more 5th line puds and 8th D's.
DeleteCongrats to Bob the goalie. TFS couldn't win unless he scored goals too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to TFS™ and BBQ on stellar regular seasons and the votes they received.
ReplyDeleteGoing to miss (Y)'s big, clean hits. Say hello to Pretzel Lucic for us.
Time to see what CHud is made of.
Also, too, congrats Torts.
Hasn't Torts had the kiss of death before?...
DeleteThe best thing about (Y) was his driving Lucy out of his mind.
DeleteThe SFU at the detestable cesspool snet playing up their boy Matthews win as a "laugher". Classy people over there.
ReplyDeleteHere's a funny story while we're waiting for gCHuk to be traded for a used jock strap: This morning, Mrs.
I find it hilarious that the Calder win was seriously out-newsed by the VGK story.

ReplyDelete- he says it's not inconceivable that if Che isn't signed by July 1 that they could trade his rights to another team.
Oh, on the 'when you assets you keep them'
ReplyDeleteHe said we know we have holes to fill but it's not easy (yeah, he said it again) when you look at teams and you have assets you want to keep them.
Bbb is so full of shit I think he actually believes the crap he spouts. So we give up a young but talented D man only to replace him with a journeyman with more bad habits and no pedigree...what a fucking brain surgeon that Bbb is! The mind boggles...
ReplyDelete2017-18 schedule is out. Habs go to death valley in October.
ReplyDeleteLeBrun 'Hearing that Radulov's latest contract ask was six years at $7 M per season. No way Habs do that'
ReplyDeleteI find it suspicious that BBB made the comment about trading his rights and THEN that 'leak' comes out. I think BBB's usual suspects are pushing the narrative again. Maybe BBB's brave now that he landed Drouin.
Juce...dont believe a word bbb says...he lies like you breath air. Anything over 4 years for Che is a joke
DeleteOn Vodkov in French he said «Il y a un prix à payer, mais on a des limites», translated -
ReplyDelete"There is a price to be paid, but there are limits.
